Maybe your teen is nervous to speak up at school about being pro-life because she's afraid her opinion will be dismissed. Maybe you're hesitant to voice concerns at work because you're worried about backlash from your co-workers. These situations are common, but speaking the truth with love is our calling as Christians. The Colson Educators course, "Navigating Cancel Culture," can help. She shares her perspective as a Christian, mom, and lawyer, reminding us that even in our radically pro-abortion culture, the Church can be a world-changing force for life like it was in the days of the early Church. How do we walk with loved ones through suffering when we're suffering too? Today I get to talk about this topic with Whitney Pipkin, who experienced the profound comfort of Christ in the midst of her mom's 20-year cancer battle. In the discomfort of death and in the face of her complete inability, Whitney encountered Jesus, the man of sorrows. Whitney's testimony is one every Christian needs to hear. Many of us struggle with body image. Our bodies matter and we are called to care for them—but how do we do that without obsessing? What does it look like to steward our bodies? This week, I'm re-airing an interview about these questions with Lainey Greer. Lainey uses her unique background of exercise science and systematic theology to equip Christians with a biblical view of the body. We talk about the big picture of stewarding our health and what that looks like practically. Merry Christmas! Today, I'm re-airing a favorite episode featuring my friend Haley Stewart. Christmastide is a season of festivity—carols, parties, decorations, and food. But do we understand the real meaning of festivity and its divine origins? But this couldn't be further from the truth. At the Colson Center, we believe the Church is God's gift to the world, called to be present and active in this cultural moment without being taken captive by it. In other words, the Church is meant to “move the world,” not move with the world. That's why we equip believers with a Christian worldview through our media, training programs, and events—because a Church that “moves the world” starts with one faithful Christian. We need your help to continue strengthening the Church in 2025. Thanks to a generous matching donation, every gift between now and December 31 will be DOUBLED until we meet the full match. It's time for Ebenezer Scrooge to “face the facts” about his spiritual state and meet the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. My colleague Meredith joins me to explore this sobering yet necessary part of Scrooge's journey and the transformative power of mercy triumphing over judgment. Even if you're familiar with A Christmas Carol, you'll find some fresh truths about Scrooge's redemption (and ours!) in today's conversation. Meredith's favorite adaptations of A Christmas Carol are A Christmas Carol (1951) with Alastair Sim, and the Broadway musical A Christmas Carol (1994) with music by Alan Menken. From bookstore shelves to social media groups, there seems to be no shortage of guidance out there for raising babies, toddlers, and teens. But what about those of us parenting adult children? What does it look like to love them well without over-parenting or disengaging? What if they're estranged from us? Lighthouse Voices is a livestreamed event series designed to help Christians navigate today's cultural landscape with truth and love. Joining us this month is author and theologian Os Guinness, who will answer the question, “What is the True Meaning of Love?” Contrary to popular belief, concept of “free love” proposed by the sexual revolution is neither freeing nor loving. It's costly and dehumanizing. But God's design for love and sex is good, true, and lifegiving. What would it look like for us to start a Christian sexual revolution that displays God's design for love to a world that's longing for the real thing? Join us on November 12 for answers and encouragement. This conversation will be followed by a Q&A and book signing. What anti-life lies do pro-life Christians believe? According to Riley Schneider, many Christians have subtle assumptions about children, parenting, and flourishing that contradict their pro-life convictions. And these lies are hindering the pro-life movement. As a young woman who faced death head-on, Riley is passionate about promoting life by advocating for unborn babies and parents in crisis. Tune in to hear her story and learn what Christians must do if we're truly going to protect vulnerable lives in our anti-life culture. We are excited to officially invite you to the 2025 Colson Center National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky, May 30 to June 1, 2025. Our theme this year is “Be the Church.” We talk a lot about the Church on Strong Women, because the Church is God's plan A for restoring all things. In our day and age, it's easy to think of the Christian faith only in individual terms. But God is not just saving individuals—He's making a People, the Church. And before the Church can do what we're called to do, we must first understand who we are as the body of Christ. We are taking a small break this July to gear up for season five of the Strong Women podcast. But during this break, we decided to re-air some episodes that we thought you would enjoy. Crystal Downing joins us this week to talk about the 20th-century Christian author, Dorothy Sayers. Crystal is Co-Director of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College, where scholars research, write about, and preserve the memorabilia of a handful of British writers—including a few members of the Inklings. Though Dorothy Sayers wasn't an Inkling herself, she was friends with many of them and was a major spiritual influence on C.S. Lewis. Dorothy was not afraid to challenge people, including both Christians and the nonreligious. Crystal's book Subversive: Christ, Culture, and the Shocking Dorothy L. In taking a public stand for religious freedom over the last seven years, Lorie has experienced backlash, hatred, and misrepresentation. We are taking a small break this July to gear up for season five of the Strong Women podcast. But during this break, we decided to re-air some episodes that we thought you would enjoy. Our guests today are Linda Noble and Linda Stewart, affectionately called “The Lindas.” I love how these two ladies in different seasons of life looked at the world around them and asked, “What is missing that we can add?” They tell us how they joined together to learn and then create something that offers a window into God's design for sex, which fits into the larger story that He wants to be known by us, and He uses His creation—including our own bodies—to pursue a relationship with us. I am excited for you to learn about how God has designed our bodies and our sexuality to invite us into a deeper relationship with Him. We must learn these big truths about God's design in order to invite the young people in our lives to grasp the significance of the gift of sex within marriage. Without the big picture, this seems like just a rule to follow instead of an invitation to flourish. You can leave a voicemail for us at 719-838-6700. Many assume prison is the last place to encounter God. But He is powerfully at work there through His people, both inside and out, fulfilling the promise to “proclaim liberty to the captives” and “set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18). Heather Rice-Minus, CEO of Prison Fellowship, has witnessed this firsthand in her work for prison reform and restorative justice. She joins Sarah to share the remarkable ways God is working today to redeem and restore people in the prison system. Our post-Christian culture often promotes justice at the expense of mercy. God takes injustice seriously, and His forgiveness is the only thing in the universe that can deal with the full weight of injustice while also securing our redemption. Lewis God, Sex and Marriage by Juli Slattery Love Thy Body by Nancy Pearcey God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom As Christians, we're called to love God with all our minds, and be transformed by the renewal of our minds. Without a mind that's shaped by God's Word, we'll struggle to champion the truth, beauty, and goodness of God's Kingdom in this time and place. To address this problem, Michael Craven, Vice President of Equipping and Mobilization at the Colson Center has written a brand-new, free e-book called The Christian Mind: Its Necessity to Christian Relevance and Renewal. It's a primer on developing a thoroughly Christian mind for the sake of the Kingdom. If you want a more robust faith that actually shapes how you live in the world today, or if you're wondering why cultivating a Christian mind really matters, you should read this book. You can grab your free copy by going to colsoncenter.org/book.
