In this episode of Glauc Talk, we dive into the chaos of a stressful morning and explore how emotional regulation can make a big difference in managing everyday challenges. I also reflect on some of my biggest social media mistakes and the lessons I learned from those controversies, offering valuable insights for others navigating the online world. The episode touches on the importance of taking a pause before reacting, handling crises calmly, and learning from missteps. Additionally, we discuss the shocking cost of helicopter medical transport and how recent legislation aims to prevent surprise billing in these situations. Tune in for humor, personal stories, and practical lessons on stress management, social media, and navigating healthcare costs. Takeaways: Take a pause before reacting to stressful situations—waiting even a few minutes can help you think more clearly and make better decisions. Learning from social media mistakes can lead to growth, both personally and professionally. Owning your mistakes is key to moving forward. Helicopter medical transport can be extremely expensive, with costs reaching as high as $68,000, though legislation like the No Surprises Act helps regulate billing. Emotional regulation plays a vital role in handling life's unexpected challenges, from stressful mornings to bigger crises. Staying grounded through mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing, can help manage adrenaline-fueled reactions in high-pressure situations. — To Get Tickets to Wife & Death: You can visit Glaucomflecken.com/live  We want to hear YOUR stories (and medical puns)! I'm blessed and honored to have you with us on this journey, and I know it will impact people. So this book, you'll see I'll have it on the cover of each episode, was found at my grandparents' house after my grandmother died, and my grandfather, it was his, passed away almost five years ago. And the reason why it was on my heart to do this was instead of going by myself, it would be the best How is the best way for fathers or grandfathers to read through Scripture, 52 specific verses, and then how it can be used in their life? So what Daniel and I are going to do is we're going to use the SOAP method: The term "SOAP method" is often associated with a structured approach to studying and reflecting on scripture. The SOAP method is an acronym that stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. It provides a systematic way to engage with and apply the teachings found in the Bible. Here's a brief overview of each step: 1. **Scripture:**    - Choose a passage or verse from the Bible to focus on. Read and meditate on the selected scripture. 2. **Observation:**    - Reflect on the passage and observe details such as keywords, themes, and any significant context. Consider the historical and cultural context of the passage. 3. **Application:**    - Apply the teachings of the scripture to your own life. Consider how the passage can impact your beliefs, attitudes, and actions. Think about practical steps you can take based on the insights gained from the scripture. 4. **Prayer:**    - Conclude your reflection with a prayer. Communicate with God about what you've learned, express gratitude, seek guidance, or ask for strength to apply the lessons from the scripture. The Places Between
The Key to Life. Is His Presence Enough?

The Places Between

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 17, 2022 12:27

An excerpt from my daily devotional reading recently talked about the “Key to Life” “Madonna said, ‘When I was growing up... Jesus Christ was like a movie star, my favourite idol of all.' Napoleon Bonaparte said, ‘I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man.' Novelist H.G. Wells said, ‘I am an historian, I am not a believer. But this *penniless preacher* from Galilee is irresistibly the centre of history.'” As the Founder of ALPHA Nicky Gumbel wrote “Even people who would not describe themselves as followers of the ‘penniless preacher' recognise that there is something extraordinary about Jesus. No one, not even angels, can compare to Jesus (Hebrews 1:1–14). If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus. He said, ‘Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father' (John 14:9). Everything you read and understand about God through the Bible needs to be read through the lens of Jesus. He is the ultimate revelation of God. Your key to getting your life sorted out is Jesus. Your key to understanding the Bible is Jesus. Your key to understanding God's character is Jesus. Your key to life is Jesus”. (Excerpt taken from Bible in One Year 2022 with Nicky Gumbel on the Bible App) I couldn't help but be encouraged and moved to tears by this notion. EVERYTHING we need to understand about life and God is in Jesus. But how do we get there if we don't know Jesus or the life he lived? Perhaps it starts with picking up one of the gospels to read about the life and character to understand how good he really is. Perhaps its a surrendered heart to say “Even when I don't get it, I will trust you”. Or perhaps its hanging up the questions and apathy towards what's not happening in life, our disappointments, our questions, our what ifs and heartbreaks to let Jesus have full access as we invite him in to do what only he can do. And now going a step further. . . if you've looked to Jesus to understand God and even have been on this faith journey a number of years but still wrestle with doubts and understanding what and how God is moving in your life, I'd like to encourage you that it's possible to choose faith and trust even amidst the hardest of places. I wanted to share another devo from a 25day devotional on staying in your story. It poses a good question or two to consider, but I also believe through the process of worship and a surrendered heart we all can come to a place of being fully resolved to Trust God with writing our story, even more so than ourselves. . . Because he is ONLY Good, Im convinced whatever we go through will ultimately be worked out for our benefit and our good IF we allow it to. Takeaways:: Take some time this week to reflect on those questions. Go sit with them. Talk to God. Ask him what he has for you. Open your heart to him and see where he wants to take you. . . I'll be praying with you, that it's somewhere incredible as you dive in to time with him. Thanks for joining me this week on the Places Between. Hope you have a great week. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theplacesbetween/support

E276 Problems Selling Probate Real Estate: Septics, Brokers, and Co-op Listing Prices

Simple Money Wins

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 27, 2022 8:53

We'll share 3 recent problems we encountered while selling probate real estate: a bad septic tank, firing a broker, and co-op listing prices. We'll share these stories with you and add key takeaways for executors and those facing probate. Septic tank problems in probate Any leak or other problem involving a septic tank is a huge headache. Septic water leaking into the ground soil is an environmental violation. In our case, a problem appeared during the septic inspection (thankfully it was not a full-blown leak). It required our whole team (me, the other attorney, and the real estate broker) to work together quickly to save the deal by replacing the tank. As we've mentioned several times before, selling probate real estate quickly is key. Otherwise, the estate bleeds money while the property sits on the market (not to mention impatient heirs and looming IRS deadlines). Takeaways: You need a great team (broker, executor, attorney) who understand probate, the need for speed, and the risks to the executor. These are tough situations that require competent professionals. The team must be able to communicate well and do it quickly. It is best to have a local executor: someone who understands local laws and customs. How to fire a real estate agent This situation is never easy, but being an executor is not for someone who avoids conflicts. Speed and risk assessment are two things that are important during probate. So, if you have a broker that is taking too long to sell, it will anger the heirs. Taking too long to sell also puts the executor at personal risk for the loss of property value. The executor can't just let it sit and let the bills accumulate. A real estate agent who is not a good fit may make poor pricing decisions on your behalf. Perhaps the agent is a slow communicator or a poor evaluator of buyers. You don't want to waste time on buyers who cannot close. Takeaways: Take time to choose the broker carefully. Make sure they understand probate's unique risks and priorities. You should try to hire an executor with a trusted network of reliable, experienced agents. If the executor doesn't have a specific real estate agent to work with, a savvy executor knows to sign a limited listing agreement so he can get out of it quickly if needed. Co-op pricing strategy This is kind of NY-centric, since there aren't a whole lot of co-ops elsewhere. We've talked about why co-ops are a pain for probate, and pricing is one of those reasons. In probate, you want to price aggressively (low) to sell with speed. You wouldn't want the neighboring unit to sell faster than yours because you wouldn't come down $10,000. But you don't want to list too low, because you must get a good value for the heirs. On top of this balancing act, the co-op adds more complexity: the co-op board must be satisfied with the price, so it can't be too low. The co-op has the right to reject deals that don't preserve the value of the building as a whole. Because of this, co-ops listings can: Make the price too high for the market but make the co-op happy. Then it sits for months. Make the price lower and get buyers, only to have them frustratingly rejected by the board over and over. This ends up being a waste of time, and the co-op goes back on the market. Takeaways: You need savvy executor who can set realistic expectations for heirs and explain to them that co-ops are just difficult to deal with. In this situation, an executor outside of NY with no knowledge of co-ops would be a huge disadvantage. We hope these anecdotes were helpful to you. This episode is about taking a stand for what we value. Today's caller, Sebastian, is not getting his needs met in his relationship. He is attempting to talk through his issues, but the results are not changing. We discuss ways to get clarification from his partner about what she needs and how he can have his needs met by taking a stand for his values.   [For show notes, go here: Christinehassler.com/episode315]   If communication solved every issue in a relationship, we could all just read communication books and have the most amazing relationships, friendships, and parental relationships. Everything would be easy. But, it is not. We need to do the inner work. We play out our childhood stuff in our adult life, especially in relationships.   When a child has emotionally unavailable parents, they learn to tolerate a lot more hurt. When they grow into adults, they may have a pattern of thinking things are better than they truly are in their intimate relationships.   In relationships, friendships, or any kind of intimate relationship, we often love and give in the way we want to be given to and loved, not necessarily the way that person needs or wants it.   We have to be bold when it comes to things like love, our families, our health, our well-being, and what is important to us. We must take a stand for our values.   Join us for our LIVE Inner Child Workshop on October 8–10th. It will be the last live inner child workshop taught by Christine and Stefanos for a while. Get live coaching or attend the workshop online ChristineHassler.com/InnerChild.   Consider/Ask Yourself: Do you find yourself not being a firm stand for what you want in your life? Do you ever tiptoe around people afraid of upsetting them? Do you often feel disrespected in conversations or just not heard? Do you have some codependent patterns and let people walk all over you? Do you often find yourself with emotionally unavailable or avoidant-type people?   Sebastian's Question: Sebastian feels he doesn't get his needs met in his relationship and would like guidance on how to have a healthier relationship.   Sebastian's Key Insights and Ahas: His relationship has ups and downs. Hurtful things are said between him and his partner. He and his partner have done couple counseling. He has a 10-year-old son with his partner. He feels disrespected by his partner. He loves his family. His partner finds it is overwhelming to deal with his emotions. He is trying to uncover and overcome the relationship issues. He is codependent.   How to Get Over It and On With It: Get curious about what his partner needs. Have a conversation about what each other needs emotionally. Stand in his strong, healthy masculine and ask his partner if she wants the relationship to work. Step into his power and take a stand for himself and the relationship.   Takeaways: Take a stand for your values. Be very clear about what you want and where you are going.   Sponsor: SOUL CBD — is a daily supplement to calm the nervous system and re-calibrate homeostasis. Over It And On With It

This call is about transforming shame, celebrating your gifts, and sharing them with others. Today’s caller, Melissa, is building a health coaching business and wants to embrace her purpose whole-heartedly but is holding back her light because of self-judgment and shame. We discuss things she can do to focus her energy on getting the things she wants from life as she serves others with her personal experience.   [For show notes go here: Christinehassler.com/episode259]   Many people feel physical shame in some way. It can cause us to wear masks and deprive us of joy and self-expression. And, usually the thing we are most self-conscious about people don't even notice or think about as much as we do. If they do notice, they often don’t evaluate us because of it. I’ve never formed an opinion on someone because of their physical characteristics, and honestly, if someone does form an opinion about you because of something completely superficial, do you really want that person in your life?   Why are you fighting for approval from people you don’t really like? We give our power away when we seek the approval of others.   We can be too judgmental of other people, mostly because we are too judgmental of ourselves. If you want to put yourself out there in whatever way you feel called to do it, please do. You are needed. We need more people who have the consciousness of light and love being loud in the world. Too many people have loud voices that shouldn’t have a microphone. So, get your voice out there.   Stop letting fear of rejection and fear of judgment hold you back. Not everyone is going to like you and it is okay. You’re depriving the people who do resonate with you the connection and service you have to offer. Think about the magic you can create by not avoiding the people that may not like you or reject you and focus on compassionately serving others.   Stop falling into the avoidance trap and step into your love and light.   Are you ready to take your personal development to the next level and invest in yourself? Would an ally and a guide be helpful to you during this time? If so, I have two one-on-one coaching spots available. This type of deep work has incredible ripple effects in all areas of your life. Email Jill@ChristineHassler.com for more information.   This is a trying time emotionally, mentally, and financially, so in August, I am giving away $5,000 in personal development grant money. Ten people will receive $500 to invest in themselves. Go to ChristineHassler.com/grant to fill out the application. I will announce the grant recipients on an Instagram Live.   Consider/Ask Yourself: Do you think that you have to be perfect or at a certain point before you really go after your dreams and what you want? Do you carry around shame? Do you feel a calling to do something, be it starting a business, applying for a new job, or dating again but are scared to do it because you’re afraid of judgment? Has shame robbed you of feeling a sense of belonging? Are you tired of letting shame rob you of what you deeply desire?   Melissa’s Question: Melissa has a hard time speaking up and would like guidance on how to heal the shame she feels to gain the confidence to put herself out there.   Melissa’s Key Insights and Ahas: She lacks self-confidence. She attended the inner child workshop. She is building a coaching business. She lacked confidence because of a physical trait. She feels people may judge her. Shame disempowers her. She outsources her self-worth. She has a limiting belief that she isn’t enough. She numbed herself because she felt different from her peers.   How to Get Over It and On With It: Allow herself to be seen without the expectation of perfection. Do things that promote living into her purpose and her mission. Inspire others with her personal journey. Accept herself fully for who she is.   Takeaways: Take actions every day that move you into the vibration of who you want to be and what you want to do. Turn your shame into compassion and service. Use it to feel compassion for others who are feeling shame. Stop giving others power over you. Step into your love and light and make your voice heard. Live into your highest truth.   Resources: Christine Hassler — Join the Free Over It and On With It Community Christine Hassler Podcasts Including Coaches Corner Christine on Facebook Expectation Hangover, by Christine Hassler @ChristinHassler on Twitter @ChristineHassler on Instagram Assist@ChristineHassler.com Jill@ChristineHassler.com — For information on any of my services. Have you ever been a part of a customer community, you hear customers expressing a need and you feel that a campaign should be done to answer that need, however, you wait to act because you do not have the research to back your initiative? It is time to put the value back into understanding your customer and target audience. An Entrepreneur, Author, Speaker, Podcast Host, Marketing & Sales Leader, and the VP of Marketing at Outreach, Max Altschuler, encourages marketers to take the time to understand their customers and to know when to act on that knowledge, instead of being held back by insufficient data.   Takeaways: Take the time to get to know your customers. Find out what communities they are involved in and put yourself there. Build a community with your customers that is tied to your business and branding with a customer advisory board. Listen to what they are saying. If the same recurring topic keeps coming up, run a campaign on that topic. You do not need research to tell you that, it is simply having a pulse on what your customers needs are. When you are just starting marketing at a new company, do not redo the website right away. Put the time in to get to know the customer base and target audience first. Every company should have a specific role dedicated to customer development and research. Someone that can listen to what customers are saying, run a poll or survey to your prospects and target audience, and then create a report for your company to turn it into content and thought leadership for your brand. If you are planning a virtual event, focus on your quality of speakers and sessions rather than the quantity. Create a space for virtual event attendees to engage with speakers, whether that is through a Slack channel or live Q & A. “When you try to be everything to everybody you won't be anything to anybody.” - Max Altschuler Career advice from Max - Your 20's are for learning and your 30's are for earning. Do not worry if you are not making as much money as your friends, if you are just starting out in your career. You are building your knowledge foundation for when you will need it later in your career.   Links: Unleash: https://unleashvirtual.outreach.io/ Outreach: https://www.outreach.io/ Sales Hacker: https://www.saleshacker.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/maxaltschuler/ Career Hacking for Millennials: https://www.amazon.com/Career-Hacking-Millennials-How-Built-ebook/dp/B07BTDMYY3   Busted Myths: Everything needs to be measured in marketing and you should not try a new campaign without the data reasoning to back it up. - This is NOT the case. Not everything needs to be measured. The ruling is about 80% should be measured, where the other 20% should come from knowing your customers and having an understanding of the current trends and their needs. You need a lot of speakers booked to make a virtual event successful. - It is better to have 10 -15 high quality speakers and sessions in which your brand can promote really well, than have 100 speakers with low quality engagement.

For marketers in a small team, you may look at businesses with marketing teams of 10 or more and think, if you only had a bigger team, or only had a bigger budget, you could make a greater impact. A Marketing Leader and the CMO of Agio, Kate Wood, delivers marketing inspiration to all of the small marketing teams out there that a lot can be accomplished with just a few people. If you are a manager looking to build your marketing team or are just starting out in your career, then listen to this episode to be challenged and encouraged!   Takeaways: Take initiative and be reflective to learn from your mistakes and try something else. Align your marketing strategy and execution to what the business needs are. Treat the business like a client. Operating in an agile manner means being reactive to the market. If something is not working, agile behavior would mean shifting with the way the market is changing, not staying steadfast on the path to unresponsiveness. Brand is the sum of the customer experience. A brand is like a personality that your customers are interacting with. Build your marketing team with people that are going to develop themselves professionally. What inputs are they taking in outside their day-to-day? “If a caveman comes to your website and cannot regurgitate what you do, you are doing something wrong.” - Kate Wood When defining your brand upfront consider, what is the problem you are trying to solve for your customer? What is your contribution to human society?  Gather a team of individuals that each have the reputation that they are going to get things done. You want team members that are going to figure out how to execute. Marketing is an experiment, if you create something, and it fails, don't take it personally. Learn from it and improve. Hire a team that you like, but that is different from you. Let their individual strengths shine and come through. People often figure out what they like to do, by doing what they don't like to do, through the process of elimination. Don't be afraid to try new things and experiment more. Don't always worry about the outcome, you will learn so much along the way. “If you're not failing in your experiments enough, you're probably not experimenting enough.” - Kate Wood   Links: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kateswood/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kate.wood.921 Instagram: woodskate Agio: https://agio.com/     Busted Myths: A marketing department needs a big team and budget to make a difference. - You DON'T need a big marketing team nor a big budget to accomplish a lot. I interviewed today's guest, Laura Fuentes, about a year ago on the show. The interview was one of my most popular ever! Laura is the creator of MOMables, food plans for families. What I love about Laura is that she is very down to earth and practical about the empire she is building.  Building a Food Empire Laura's MOMables business consists of meal plans, courses, and digital products.  The meal plans are based on a subscription model. Every month, Laura provides her customers with 5 meals, a meal prep sheet, and a shopping list.  Laura also sells health and wellness programs in ebook format.  Laura's programs can be compared to Whole30, but specifically for families. It is a 30-day program for both kids and adults.  Laura also has courses where she teaches parents how to put healthy eating for their family into practice. She has a course on picky eaters, as well, for those parents who are battling out mealtimes and need some practical help.  Laurafuentes.com is her lifestyle blog and it's where she shares how she lives the life of the courses she sells.   Learning to Create Video Content Laura was a self-taught cook who competed on Food Network in 2014 and won! She had never been on camera in her life when she auditioned for the show.  In fact, Laura taught herself how to cook by watching Food Network.  Her readers were asking Laura to create videos for her recipes, but she was much too afraid of the camera to comply. But after her stint on television, she decided that it was time to give her audience what they wanted. Laura told her husband, “I now know that I can do it and it's not about winning. From that experience, I learned that I could, so I did.” Later in 2014, she began her dive into video. She took 2 full years to get her processes down and learn how to make great, high-quality videos. At this point, Laura owns a video production company where she produces videos for large and small clients alike.  Growing the Video Side of a Business Laura is not creating the “hands and pans” style cooking videos.  She does all of her videos in front of the camera, no overhead views. She wants her audience to get to know her through her videos.  Her videos average about 3:20. Laura has found that anywhere in the 3:30 - 4: 00-minute range is what her audience wants.  From the time she began doing video in 2014, all the way through 2017, Laura was releasing 1 new video per week. Because she had other facets of her business to run and needed to hire out all of the editing and preproduction of her videos, her budget didn't allow for more than 1 video per week.  Since the fall of 2018, she has begun releasing 2 videos per week. And of those 8 videos a month, 1 or 2 will be sponsored videos.  Laura uses the returns from sponsored posts to build the areas of her business that need growth but aren't bringing in enough income on their own.  Monetizing YouTube  Ads on YouTube don't make Laura a lot of money. Over the last 28 days, Laura has made $227 from YouTube.  She is not what you think of when you think YouTuber; someone who pays the bills solely from their YouTube account. Laura's goal isn't to be a famous YouTube star. As a matter of fact, she doesn't even like to wear makeup for her videos. As she puts it, “I'm not that funny, I don't wear makeup. I just make my recipes.” But she is happy with how things are playing out on her channel now. She is experiencing true joy with her YouTube efforts and looks forward to creating video content. Social Media Burnout Laura doesn't experience burnout over creating YouTube videos.  She personally experiences burnout over the pressure to constantly be churning out new content. But the majority of her burnout comes by way of social media.  Because brands are focusing so heavily on Instagram nowadays, Laura feels the pressure to focus on that platform. Whereas, her preference is to send people to her blog or YouTube channel. Laura says, “If I could get rid of every platform and just choose one, I would choose YouTube. I just feel like IG is an exhausting race that I have no interest in winning.” Being Enough For Yourself  What Laura thinks of herself matters so much more to her than what anyone else thinks about her.  We all struggle or go through periods of struggling with looking for outside validation.  Laura wants to model for her children that outside opinions are not the be-all, end-all. She wants to show them that they don't have to put on a show of perfection for others; they can be themselves.  Laura does care, but she cares about how she thinks about herself, not how others think about her.  When you're in it to win it, you cannot drag yourself down with negative talk. That is not the way to gain success.  When you get turned down by a company or a client, it doesn't mean you're a failure. It means you're not the right fit for that project.  You have to be about serving others, not being emotionally invested in others accepting you.  Once you don't care what others think, you can jump into things and do them without fear.  You will have new opportunities, you will grow so much as a person, and your business will grow too.  I don't know about you, but I always feel so inspired every time I talk to Laura. Tempus Per Annum means "Time Throughout The Year". In the liturgical church calendar, it is known as Ordinary Time - the long stretch between Easter and Advent. This is sometimes a grind and sometimes exhilarating and always Holy. We want to settle in and recognize this time of between. TEXT: Luke 13:1-9 TAKEAWAYS: Take an inventory with these questions in mind: What do I need to add? What do I need to subtract? Talk to two people about that inventory. Give those two people permission to ask you about it.  Ask someone who loves you, "Who do you think I was meant to be and what do you think I was meant to do?" Pray for the Spirit Of Truth to tell you the truth. For one week, carve out a half hour per day for still movement.

MM 087 - Manufacturers and the Coaching Conundrum

Manufacturing Marketing Matters

This week we're talking about an under-utilized method for growing your manufacturing business, a business coach. Learn about the benefits, what makes a good candidate and how it works. Guest: Colonel (ret) Burl Randolph, Founder, President, Chief Consultant of MyWingman, LLC Website: MyWingman, LLCBurl offers a free consultation if you want to learn more about his coaching service - contact information is on the Guest Experts page. Get started with your marketing plan. Free templates and sample manufacturing marketing plan. Highlights: [4:00] Burl expains the difference between coaching and mentoring and introduces the concept of your professional and/or business blindspot. [5:00] An important distinction is that the coach is not the expert, the player is the expert in their industry. [8:00] A coach is the person who provides you with unfiltered advice and feedback. It is very difficult to get objective feedback from subordinates. A coach is a person whom the CEO can freely vent to without being judged. [17:10] Coaching is best for someone who has a willingness to learn, willingness to grow and willingness to execute on the outcomes of a coaching session. [23:00] A big part of the coaching process is accountability. Who else will hold a CEO accountable? The coach can play this role. [24:00] Burl shares some questions you should ask if you are considering a business coach and when a coach is not a good idea. Some people are simply uncoachable. Interview Questions: Question 1: Burl, let’s start off with level setting. The term ‘coaching’ probably conjures up all kinds of perceptions in the minds of manufacturers. Let’s hear your definition of what it means to be coached or the process of coaching? What’s the difference between a coach and a mentor? Question 2: What are the benefits of coaching? Who can benefit from coaching in the manufacturing world? Are there certain criteria like leadership level or company size? Question 3: Let’s say you were going to coach a CEO at a mid-size manufacturing company, could you describe a month in the life of the coach and coachee (if that’s a word)? Question 4: What are a few questions one should ask themselves when contemplating using a business coach? Are there any reasons coaching might not work? Challenge Question: This week our challenge question comes to us from a manufacturer of steel tubing located up in Washington State. Here it is: “We’re a B2B steel tubing manufacturer and I’m the Marketing Manager with a small team of 3. We, the marketers, know that we need to be doing content marketing and sharing our expertise. We get the benefits of that. When I try to sell the idea to our CEO and VP Sales, we get shut down because they say if we share our information, then the competition will get it too and we lose our edge. Do you have some tips about how to get them to move away from product brochures and trade shows (we spend half million dollars a year on trade shows) to buy in to the idea of creating content.” Provide results through examples. Use examples of the competitors or other companies in the area who are having great success at content marketing. Understand the difference between marketing and sales. Content marketing does not promote your proprietary information, it promotes your expertise in a particular problem faced by the target audience. Ask to do a small pilot program. When you share expertise, you develop TOMA and credibility in the minds of the target audience. Takeaways: Take advantage of free consultations and learn more about the possibilities of coaching for your professional life.

52: Can You Change Someone? With Linsey

Over It And On With It

Today’s caller, Linsey, is concerned her boyfriend may have an addiction to alcohol. She loves him and believes that if he can change they may be able to take their relationship to the next level. She thinks her problem is in her relationship but as our coaching session shows, it has very little to do with her partner and more to do with something deep within herself.  You cannot change other people. Your desire to change and heal yourself should not be attached to changing someone else. Focus only on yourself.    It is important to make healthy changes, even if it feels really scary. Unhealthy lifestyles feel familiar and safe because we have been in them for so long. It is crucial to find professional support and to be held accountable when we start making changes. It is difficult for us to do this on our own. Our ego doesn’t like it when we change because it craves certainty. And, as we start to grow in consciousness, the ego starts to hold on a little tighter. If listening to this call was uncomfortable for you or if it brought up some awareness around your own addictions, consider what you may be using to avoid feeling and dealing. This is why I am creating an Over It and On With It course to give you tools and resources to feel, deal and heal. Coaches — I could have coached Linsey to get out of her relationship. Personally, I hope she does distance herself from it to focus on her own healing. But, if I coached her in that direction she may have shut down. She said she loves him even though she knows he’s an addict. She feels safe being a co-dependent in the relationship due to her relationship with her mother. I didn’t want her ego to take over and for her to get defensive. It may not have been possible for her to get to the deeper awareness she reached during the call. It’s important to give someone the dignity of their process, instead of encouraging them to make a move they may not be ready to make. 49: Give Yourself Permission to Go After Your Dreams with Emily

Over It And On With It

It really is so important to give ourselves permission to go after what we want to do. For example, I recently gave myself permission to go on a trip to Colombia with the caveat that I would work while I was there. When I ran into wifi issues and couldn’t communicate with my team I had a bit of an Expectation Hangover. So, I decided that instead of being frustrated about it, I would move into acceptance and give myself permission to take some time off. When I fight for my will over thy will I almost always end up getting frustrated. Emily is normally a driven and passionate person. However, she called in because she is feeling a bit lackluster lately.  She’s done a lot of personal development work, but can’t seem to find her mojo to implement the new things she would like in her life. She’s been waiting for something to give her permission to act. It’s important for her to start coming up with all the reasons why she can do something, instead of making up excuses about why she can’t. Everything begins with just one step. In my book, Expectation Hangover, I call this Proactive Surrender. It’s about taking one step with intention and involvement and then allowing for feedback. To co-create is about being in flow with the universe and letting go of attachments of control and planning. Be open to how and where the universe wants to lead you. Also, there are a lot of people who get stuck in the personal awareness trap. People who read a lot of books, listen to podcasts, and become very aware but things don’t ever seem to shift for them. If you find yourself in the awareness trap you must start taking action. Coach's Tip - When working with your clients be mindful of having them speak in “I” language rather than in the second person because when we speak in the second person we disassociate and we don’t own what we are saying. It’s important to bring clients back to using “I” language without making them feel wrong. I invite you to join me for my retreat in magical Bali which includes meditation, yoga, one-on-one coaching and the opportunity to meet soul friends. There are only 2 reservations left. E-mail Jill@ChristineHassler.com for information on how to join any of my events or business programs.   Consider/Ask Yourself: ● Are you feeling a bit lackluster? Would you like to feel more driven or inspired? ● Do you need to give yourself permission to do something or are you waiting for a permission slip? ● Have you made your human desires bad? Are you trying to get rid of your ego? ● Do you have a heartfelt desire but can’t seem to take the first step?   Emily's Question: Emily who is normally driven and passionate finds herself feeling a bit lackluster and lost. She is feeling symptoms of the Imposter syndrome and may be in a personal awareness trap. She would like to know how to get inspired.   Emily's Key Insights and Aha’s: ● Her ego isn’t all bad ● She needs to listen to her voice of inspiration ● She doesn’t need to be an expert to get started ● She has an ability to build rapport with people   How to get over it and on with it: ● She should take the first step and listen to her seed of inspiration ● Realize there is no point to anything ● She needs to step into her gifts and take action ● She needs to own her feelings and use “I” language ● Find her internal qualities that mirror traits she admires in other people   Assignments and Takeaways: ● Take action and allow opportunities to integrate into all of your self-health programs.     ● Give yourself a permission slip to go after what you want. Remember, it begins with by taking one step. ● Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you. Reach out to the people you want to connect with. ● If you relate to the “Imposter Syndrome” write out all the amazing things about you and your gifts and talents.   Sponsor: Onnit Wellness - Receive a 10% discount on your purchase when you order through this link. 47: Why Don’t I Feel Happy? with Jennifer

Over It And On With It

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 3, 2016 33:58

At my signature retreat, many of the women who attended seemed to have amazing connections and gone through physical transformations – in just three short days. It made me think of questions I get a lot, which are “How do I get to a state of joy and deep connection, and stay there?” and “How do I get rid of hurt feelings from the past, which are impacting my ability to be happy in the present?” When the retreat started, we didn’t have the intention to be “happy” or better. We started the retreat with acceptance and love for exactly where we were.  Acceptance is the first law of the spirit. This is where the healing and the transformation always begin. We, humans, learn through contrast. Healing is the application of love to the places inside that hurt. Suppression, repression and pretending you are fine are not bringing love to your dark places. The journey is worth it, because on the other side of the dark is joy. True elation comes from being liberated from the judgments and limiting beliefs that unresolved issues and suppressed emotions perpetuate.    Today’s caller, Jennifer, wants to know how to be happier.  The definition of happy is a state of elation or excitement. As human beings who learn or grow through contrast, being in a single state all the time should never be the goal. However, being in the state of awareness, acceptance and in the vibration of love is really what we are here to learn how to do consistently. Love doesn’t mean being happy all the time. Love is unconditional, it accepts all and it greets whatever emotion or issue we are facing with compassion. Apathy and indifference are the opposites of love. The more we accept the dark and bring love into the places inside that hurt, the less we feel the darker emotions, and the more we experience the state of happiness and heart-opening gratitude and compassion.    *Coaches: Please don’t be attached to pleasing your client by working to get them what they want right away. Ask clients to define things before projecting your definitions on them. As coaches, we are not just listening to words. We are listening to the client's tone of voice, inflection; and we really need to use all of our senses to listen to all of the different ways clients are communicating with us. When the client has an ‘aha’, encourage them to talk it through.   I invite you to join me for my retreat in magical Bali which includes meditation, yoga, one-on-one coaching and the opportunity to meet soul friends. There are only 2 reservations left. E-mail Jill@ChristineHassler.com for information on how to join any of my events or business programs.   Consider/Ask Yourself: Do you have the expectation that you should feel happy all the time?  Do you sometimes pretend you are happy, when really you’re not? Are you waiting for something outside of you to make you happy or make you feel settled? Are you struggling with not feeling happy at all or being depressed? Maybe, you feel that nothing is wrong, but nothing is right either.    Jennifer 's Question: Jennifer wants to know how to truly feel happy in her life.   Jennifer 's Key Insights and Aha’s: She has an unrealistic view of happiness She’s trying to source happiness from the outside She pretends to be better than she is She suppresses her emotions   How to get over it and on with it: Allow herself to feel the tears and emotions when they come She should start by accepting and celebrating who she is She should replace ‘fine’ with honest answers of how she is doing She should commit to doing a 40-day meditation practice   Assignments and Takeaways: Take off your mask and let yourself be seen. Don’t pretend to be happy all the time. If you need to talk, ask someone to listen. Use the emotional section of Expectation Hangover to help you get to your dark places of anger, fear or shame. Have a gratitude practice. Every night write down what you are grateful for. Start a meditation practice and read my blog post, Why you are not meditating? Start a 40-day practice - a daily discipline which makes you feel a higher level of acceptance, gratitude and therefore, happiness.      Sponsor: Onnit Wellness - Receive a 10% discount on your purchase when you order through this link. 25: How to DO less and BE more – A Busy Life is NOT a Full Life

Over It And On With It

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 2, 2016 29:27

Being “busy” seems to be a way we identify ourselves.  We run ourselves ragged trying to meet the expectations of our bosses, our colleagues, and our families. We begin to put our needs aside in favor of what others want. To compensate for not practicing self-love, we wear our busyness as a badge of honor, which only seems to distract us from the lack of balance in our lives. We run the risk of having our children believe that stress equals success. The distracting device which is busyness cannot go on forever. We start to tear apart at the seams. Our inner self is crying out for attention and it becomes rebellious in order to get what it needs. While it looks for compensation, we are moving on to the next thing. Feeding this longing will serve us better than if we try to push right through. Fulfillment will not find us until we stop, refuel and rebalance as part of a daily practice. Until we stop doing and start being. Today’s caller, Gulsen, is a very logical and analytical person. She feels motivated only when she is accountable to others.  When she gets home she’s finding it difficult to DO anything. Most intelligent people have a problem with just being so. I guide her through establishing behaviors that will get her where she wants to go. Get started on your 40-day commitment to yourself by putting one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly. Take deep breaths and bring all of your awareness to your breaths. Imagine you have a volume control in your head and that the volume control represents all of the chatter that is going through your head. Then while breathing, turn the volume down. Listen to this podcast to hear my entire guided meditation.   Consider/Ask Yourself: Are you addicted to busyness? Do you wear it like a badge of honor? Do you feel you should always be doing something? Are you pinpoint on some things but completely give up on other things due to lack of motivation? Is your self-worth measured by how much you are doing?   Gulsen’s Question: Gulsen wants to know why being at home drains her typically motivated and inspired nature.   Gulsen’s Key Insights and Aha’s: She pushes herself to the edge  She distracts herself with busyness Her worth and her value come from being, not doing   How to get over it and on with it: She should make a sanctuary in her home to sit in stillness Trust herself when she is just being She should connect with love every day for 40 days   Tools and Takeaways: Take an inventory of your life Forgive yourself for the misunderstanding that busyness makes you successful Commit to a 40-day practice of meditation or presencing   Sponsor: Onnit Wellness - Receive a 10% discount on your purchase when you order through this link.   Resources: Christine Hassler @christinhassler on twitter @christinehassler on Instagram christine@christinehassler.com
