What if the biggest thing holding your church back... isn't your strategy, your budget, or your attendance? What if it's a leadership blind spot you don't even realize you have?In Episode 218 of the Fly on the Wall Podcast, I sat down with Clinton for an honest conversation about some of the most common leadership mistakes I see pastors make—and, more importantly, how to avoid them before they become costly. We talk about everything from toxic team members and leadership development to personal health, coaching, and the tension between spiritual leadership and practical execution. Here's some of what we unpack:Why taking care of yourself isn't a balance issue—it's an obedience issueThe leadership mistake I see over and over again when it comes to building teamsHow to recognize toxicity early before it causes unnecessary damageWhy pastors often keep the wrong people in the wrong roles for too longThe danger of leading from fear instead of convictionWhy so many pastors wait until they're desperate before asking for helpHow apprenticing leaders creates long-term multiplication and healthy growthThe importance of training people so well they could leave—but treating them so well they don'tWhy Spirit and strategy aren't competing ideas—they belong togetherOne line from this conversation has stuck with me ever since we recorded it:"You can't lead with authority if you're addicted to approval."We also talk about coaching, lifelong learning, and why the Church should be setting the standard for leadership development instead of trying to catch up with everyone else.If you're leading a church, building a team, or simply trying to become a healthier leader, I think this conversation will challenge and encourage you.

This episode is my argument for why I don't believe in habits. Not against consistency (consistency is everything) but against the conventional method for getting there: the trigger-behavior-reward loop, the 21-day calendar, the check marks on the wall. What I've been calling the Click Method is what I saw actually work. Something shifts in how you see a behaviour, and after that, the old way stops making sense. No willpower battle. No white-knuckling. The desired behavior just becomes the obvious choice. I walk through where I've seen it happen, make the case for one of the most under-appreciated books of the last 50 years, and connect the whole thing back to why sprint retrospectives matter more than most people realize. In This EpisodeWhy the 21-day calendar method doesn't produce the results it promisesThe Click MethodWhy borrowing someone else's habits rarely sticks (it's a values mismatch, not a discipline problem)The Allen Carr smoking book and what makes it a different category of self-helpHow math class explains behavioural change better than most productivity booksWhy sprint retrospectives are more important than sprint planningHow to find the person whose insight might unlock your own clickChapters:00:00 Traditional habit-building advice doesn't work 05:13 Does it mean people can't change? 07:15 The Click Method10:35 Self-engineering "The Click" 14:16 Smoking example17:41 School example18:57 If you are trying to build consistencyThe Book Mentioned"The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr. In this episode, host Brett Barry joins Jan Jaffe, board president of Wellington Blueberry LLC, outside the shuttered Wellington Hotel on Main Street in Pine Hill, New York — a 12,000-square-foot, 19th-century landmark and one of the few remaining intact Catskill hotels that survived the era's notorious fires.Jan shares the origin story of this ambitious community-driven project: how roughly 20 neighbors pooled resources in the fall of 2022 to purchase the long-vacant building. Their goal: rehabilitate the historic structure into 10 units of workforce housing (studios and one-bedrooms targeted at residents earning 60–80% of area median income) and a much-needed community grocery store.Four years in, Wellington Blueberry has made remarkable pre-construction progress — clearing 60 dumpsters of debris, completing environmental review, obtaining all necessary permits, securing a letter of intent from Bank of America for historic tax credits, and earning a 2025 designation from the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. Their developer and construction manager is RUPCO, the region's leading nonprofit housing developer, and their architects are Albany preservation firm Thaler Riley Wilson. But they're still at "the last mile" — approximately $1 million short of the full funding needed to break ground.Topics covered:What workforce housing means and who it's designed to helpHow historic tax credits work and why they matter for this projectThe "Dagwood sandwich" of layered funding sources (grants from Restore NY, Ulster County, anonymous donors, and more)What the community has already accomplished — including two volunteer clean-up events with 40 people eachPlans for a local grocery store serving both residents and visitorsHow prospective tenants will eventually apply via lotteryTo learn more or donate, visit pinehillwellington.com. In fact, it can make the emptiness louder.Tim breaks down seven key insights that reshape how we should think about life after sport, especially for athletes considering entrepreneurship. What You'll Hear:Why identity comes before your business ideaHow chasing business to replace sport's “high” leads to burnoutThe money trap: why trying to match athlete income fast can backfireWhy perfectionism delays everything, and why “start earlier” was the most common regretThe reality of business: ambiguity, no scoreboard, no clear rulesThe mindset shift athletes must make from “I win, you lose” to “everyone can win”Why athlete support often disappears when it's needed most, and how that damages transitionsThe hidden risk of relying only on your sporting network for business adviceWhy athletes often miss key financial fundamentals like pricing, cash flow, and profitWhy doing it alone slows progress, and how ego gets in the way of asking for helpHow defining success on your own terms changes everything after sportGolden NuggetIf you build a business to replace sport, you will eventually burn out or feel empty, even if the business “works.” The identity work has to come first.Want to Go Deeper? If you are looking for career clarity for your next step, visit www.2ndwind.ioto learn more or book a consult.

In today's episode, I'm talking about the beliefs that keep us from asking for help. Asking for and receiving help is something I've been working on in my own life for quite some time now. It's something that many of us struggle with (especially in agriculture). The truth, though? Not asking for help keeps us isolated, and honestly, that's not benefiting anyone. As I continue working on this in my own life, I've realized that asking for and receiving help doesn't mean I'm weak or “less than.” I'm letting connection happen, and that's a beautiful thing!I want to encourage you to think about YOUR beliefs that may be keeping you from asking for help. You might be surprised at how good it feels when someone helps you (and how much they love it, too)!In this episode, I cover:Why asking for & receiving help has been such a challenge for me + many others in rural spacesA recent example from my own life of almost turning down help + what it revealedResults from my recent Instagram poll about how likely we are to ask for help5 core beliefs that hold many of us back from asking for helpHow generational conditioning & learned survival patterns shape the ways we avoid or decline helpThe difference between healthy independence & isolating ourselvesA powerful reframe I'm now leaning into when asking for help3 reflection prompts for you to explore Make sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss an episode! If you can talk about hot flashes and wrinkles but freeze up when the conversation turns to sex, this episode is for you. This week I'm joined by Dr. Betsy Greenleaf, the first female board-certified urogynecologist in the U.S., to talk about everything we don't discuss enough in midlife: pelvic floor health, recurrent UTIs, vaginal dryness, low libido, pain with sex, and what's really going on with your microbiome and your mojo.We dig into the gut–brain–sex connection and how stress, antibiotics, diet, and hormone shifts in menopause all collide to affect your pelvic health, your confidence, and your desire. Dr. Betsy breaks down why so many women over 50 struggle with recurrent urinary tract infections, vaginal odor, and irritation—and why the answer isn't just another round of antibiotics. We also get real about:Recurrent UTIs & vaginal infections in midlife and how the vaginal and gut microbiome are connectedWhy vaginal estrogen is such a game-changer (and what to do if you can't tolerate certain forms)Pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence & fecal incontinence—what's actually happening and when to seek helpHow probiotics, fiber, and fermented foods support pelvic health and sex driveThe truth about low libido in midlife, stress, and why “sex and stress can't coexist”What we know (and don't) about the G-spot, squirting, and the O-ShotWhy self-pleasure counts as pelvic physical therapy and how “use it or lose it” is very realReframing intimacy when you're dealing with pelvic pain, dryness, or body confidence issuesDr. Betsy's Pelvic Floor Store and what's actually worth putting in your cart (lubricants, devices, and more)This conversation might make you blush, but it might also change how you think about your body, your pleasure, and what's possible for you in midlife and beyond.
If someone asked you right now what your time is worth, could you answer them? Most women can't. And that's a problem because when we don't know our worth, we make decisions from guilt and obligation instead of strategy and self-respect. We say yes to things that drain us, we hold onto tasks someone else could handle, and we feel guilty about investing in help that would actually transform our lives. Whether you're managing a household, running a business, or doing both, understanding the actual economic value of your time changes everything about how you show up and what you prioritize. In this episode, I'm walking you through two powerful exercises that will completely shift how you see your time. In this week's episode, Matt and Steve dive into the real-life struggle of acceptance after Matt was sidelined by Lyme disease. No gym, no long walks, barely enough energy to get through the grocery store. What if the very things Satan uses to whisper, “you're too broken, too messy, too late” are the exact things God wants to use to bless His children? In this episode of the Memoirs of an LDS Servant Teacher Podcast, Maurice Harker (founder of Life Changing Services and creator of the Spiritual Psychology Masterclass) dives into the psychology behind fear, perfectionism, and “I'll just mess it up” thinking. From mission stories in Detroit to the story of Martin Harris and the 116 pages, Maurice explains how perfect love casteth out fear and why God invites us into His work knowing full well that we are still in process. You'll hear powerful insights on seeing yourself as one vital chess piece on God's board, learning when to move and when to “hold still,” and why your anger at the pain in the world is actually a form of Christlike love when it drives you to get tools to those who are suffering. Maurice and Markel also share about their new “Phase 3” effort—a project to turn deeply wounded, resilient Latter-day Saint women into an army of healers and creators who bring hope to others.

Hi friend — welcome back to The Habit Within! I'm Camille Kinzler, and today's conversation is one I've been sitting with for a while. It's all about honoring both our body's innate wisdom to heal — and also the truth that sometimes… it needs a little help.I've always been fascinated by how powerful our bodies are. The fact that they can self-repair, regulate, and recalibrate on their own is incredible. But lately, I've been realizing something: just because our bodies can heal naturally doesn't mean we always have to do it alone. There are moments when the foundations — food, movement, sunlight, rest — just aren't enough. And that's okay. Sometimes, we need extra support: a supplement, a peptide, a medication, a different kind of partnership. It's not a failure. It's simply being human. In this episode, I share:Why it's okay to seek support — even if you've always been the “I'll do it naturally” typeMy own journey of letting go of shame around needing a little extra helpHow to know when your body's asking for foundational care versus interventionThe beauty of the “both/and” — honoring your body's intelligence and welcoming outside support when neededSimple foundational practices I've returned to (and how small tweaks can re-anchor your healing)This conversation is about releasing the guilt and pressure we often put on ourselves to “do healing right.” Your body's wisdom is vast and powerful — but sometimes, it simply needs a hand.Big Takeaways:Healing isn't all or nothing — it's both/and.You can trust your body and still seek support.Shame has no place in your healing story. You're allowed to change your mind about what “natural” healing looks like.I'd love to hear from you: What's one way your body has asked for support lately?
