El despliegue visual de los cerros, los grafitis y el mar de Valparaíso no solo son el paisaje de la ciudad, sino también el escenario de "Remendar", el primer libro álbum de la autora e ilustradora Dafne Moncada Breitler. Tras su reciente paso por los estudios de Ritoque FM, la periodista y artista compartió los detalles de esta obra que rescata el valor de lo cotidiano y el vínculo intergeneracional. La historia, editada por el sello limachino "Una casa de cartón", narra una conversación entre una abuela y su nieta. A través del acto de reparar un calcetín, el libro profundiza en el respeto por el medio ambiente, la importancia del reciclaje y la sanación de las relaciones humanas. "Este libro es un homenaje a las abuelas, a esas conversaciones sin apuro en donde una aprende cosas fundamentales de la vida", explicó Moncada durante su visita a la radio, destacando que el proyecto nació como su título de postgrado en Ilustración Editorial y fue financiado por el Fondo Nacional de Fomento del Libro y la Lectura 2025. Una mirada local y atemporal A diferencia de otros relatos infantiles, "Remendar" utiliza el género del libro álbum, donde el texto y la imagen se complementan para construir un significado profundo. En sus páginas, los lectores pueden reconocer los callejones y escaleras del Puerto, situando la narrativa en un entorno familiar y lleno de identidad regional. Karima Maluk, editora de Una casa de cartón, destaca que la obra abre una conversación necesaria sobre cómo cuidamos lo que tenemos, transformando gestos sencillos en actos de resistencia ante la cultura de lo desechable. Comenzamos recordando al corazón armónico del trío cubano más famoso de todos los tiempos. "Los carnavales de Oriente", una conga de Rafael Cueto, tal como quedaba registrada por la etiqueta independiente Kubaney, nos permite acercarnos a la banda sonora cubana y a la obra de este músico santiaguero que dejó huella, junto a Siro Rodríguez y Miguel Matamoros, en el cauce del Son cubano. Con su guitarra contribuyó a definir aquel son oriental que llegaba a La Habana de los años 20 mientras, paralelamente, también se consolidaban los baluartes del son en el occidente de la Isla. El ingenio y creatividad de Cueto, así como su peculiar concepto armónico, complementaron las creaciones del prolífico Miguel Matamoros. De nuevo la conga santiaguera y un exótico instrumento: "La corneta china", título de otra pieza de Cueto. Histórico dúo de guitarras junto a Miguel registrado por el sello Víctor. El 8 de mayo de 1925, disuelto el Trío Oriental y en ocasión de un cumpleaños de Miguel, se hizo la magia cuando Siro Rodríguez llegó a la fiesta con su tremenda voz segunda. Siro, Cueto y Miguel, un emblema vocal y sonero que, por su autenticidad, no ha perdido la esencia. "Me la llevo" un son de Rafael Cueto nos recuerda, previo el viaje a México de 1945, el debut para RCA Víctor -junto a los Matamoros- de un juvenil Beny Moré. Rafael Cueto Hechavarría. falleció el 7 de agosto de 1991 en La Habana. Había nacido el 14 de marzo de 1900 en Santiago de Cuba. Con algo de su tremendo legado musical lo recordamos hoy Entre enero de 1956 y abril de 1957 llegó a convertirse en el músico más jóven del legendario Conjunto Casino, En plena adolescencia, con apenas 17 años, tuvo a su cargo la responsabilidad de algunos de los arreglos del "Casino" interviniendo además como pianista en algunas de las sesiones de estudio para la etiqueta RCA Víctor. Un todo terreno: pianista, arreglista, compositor y productor. Posteriormente su trabajo en la jazz band "Riverside", le permitió continuar incrementando su solidez artística. Radicado en los Estados Unidos, desde comienzos de los años 60, integró la vanguardia musical cubano-americana de ese tiempo. En 2008 con la complicidad de algunos colegas, trazó un puente epocal entre aquella Habana que lo vio nacer entre clásicos y su trasiego por innumerables proyectos en los Estados Unidos. Junto a Paquito: Dafnis Prieto en drums, Pedrito Martinez en las tumbadoras con el apoyo de Ileana Santamaría, Andy González en contrabajo, Bryan Linch en trompeta y Phil Woods en el saxo alto. Paquito Echavarría falleció en Miami, Estados Unidos, el 27 de septiembre del 2012. Lo recordamos hoy con varios tracks de su álbum "Frankly". En los minutos finales el trovador santiaguero William Vivanco comparte con nosotros algunos tracks de su álbum "Trece con magia". El Ayuntamiento de Rincón de la Victoria avanza en las obras de renovación y mejora de la calle Antonio de Hilaria, alcanzando ya el 90% de ejecución. Los trabajos, con una inversión de 150.220 euros financiados por el Plan de Asistencia Económica Municipal (PAEM 2024 – 4ª fase) de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga, consisten en la renovación del asfaltado en un tramo de 4.646 metros cuadrados comprendido entre el IES Bezmiliana y la guardería municipal, conectando también con el CEIP Profesor Tierno Galván y la Biblioteca Pública Municipal. El concejal de Obras y Servicios, Sergio Díaz (PP), ha señalado que “la actuación, que marcha a buen ritmo, supondrá dotar de mayor seguridad a una zona urbana con una alta densidad de tráfico tanto rodado como peatonal, especialmente en horarios escolares”. Por su parte, el alcalde de Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado (PP), ha destacado “la importancia de estas obras para la mejora de las infraestructuras viarias en un entorno muy transitado por estudiantes, familias y vecinos de la zona, mejorando la circulación y aumentando la seguridad vial”. Entre las actuaciones ya ejecutadas se encuentran el fresado del pavimento y la reposición de la capa de rodadura de mezcla bituminosa en caliente (MBC). En los próximos días se completará la señalización horizontal, además de la instalación de tres reductores de velocidad tipo lomo de asno y un paso peatonal sobreelevado. También se están sustituyendo tapas de arquetas, pozos y sumideros para garantizar un correcto funcionamiento de las infraestructuras municipales. Además, en el marco de este proyecto, se está procediendo a la instalación de diversos elementos reductores de velocidad en otras zonas del municipio, como el Paseo de Filipinas, calle Sorolla, Camino Viejo de Vélez (en varios tramos), Avenida de Jábega, Camino del Cementerio, calle Mediodía y calle La Loma, con el objetivo de reforzar la seguridad de los peatones. La ejecución de las obras está siendo llevada a cabo por la empresa adjudicataria Probisa.

El concejal de Obras y Servicios, Sergio Díaz (PP), ha explicado que, “se trata de dotar de mayor seguridad a una zona urbana que conecta con diversos centros públicos como el IES Bezmiliana, la guardería municipal, CEIP Profesor Tierno Galván y la Biblioteca Pública Municipal de la localidad”. El alcalde de Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado (PP), ha señalado que “estas obras de mejoras en las infraestructuras son necesarias y muy demandadas, mejorando el tráfico rodado y la seguridad del importante volumen de estudiantes, familias, y los residentes de las urbanizaciones de la zona”. Los trabajos que se van a ejecutar son el fresado de pavimento asfáltico, la reposición de la capa de rodadura de MBC, pintado de señalización horizontal, instalación de tres reductores de velocidad tipo lomo de asno, y de un paso peatonal sobreelevado. También se ejecutarán obras como la sustitución y acondicionamiento de todo tipo de tapas de arquetas, pozos y sumideros. Además, explica el concejal, “también llevaremos a cabo la instalación de diversos tipos de reductores de velocidad en el municipio con los que pretendemos proporcionar mayor seguridad a los viandantes”. Serán colocadas en el Paseo de Filipinas, calle Sorolla, Camino Viejo de Vélez (en distintos tramos), Avenida de Jábega, Camino de cementerio, calle Mediodía y calle La Loma. La ejecución de las obras tiene un tiempo estimado de un mes, tras la firma del contrato con la empresa adjudicataria. El proyecto cuenta con un presupuesto de 150.220 euros financiados por el Plan de Asistencia Económica Municipal (PAEM 2024 – 4ª fase) de la Diputación Provincial de Málaga.

Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo's AB 1950 would mandate a historical report, compensation options, and a memorial to honor uprooted residentsLos Angeles, CA – Today, Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo unveiled Assembly Bill (AB) 1950, the Chavez Ravine Accountability Act, which aims to address the historical injustice faced by those living in the Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles, a predominately Latino community. Authored by Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo and sponsored by Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, AB 1950 would acknowledge and rectify the displacement of these communities in the 1950s, offering a path toward historical accountability, reparative measures, and a permanent memorial honoring their legacy.“AB 1950, the Chavez Ravine Accountability Act aims to correct an injustice that displaced families and has lingered in the shadows of Los Angeles Eastside history for far too long. Amid the 1950s, the vibrant community of Chavez Ravine, home to mostly Mexican-American families, as well as Italian-American and Chinese-American, saw an upheaval as families were uprooted and displaced in the name of progress. Families were promised a return to better housing, but instead, they were left destitute,” said Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo (D-Los Angeles).  “For generations, Chavez Ravine stood as a beacon of hope and resilience, embodying the dreams and aspirations of families who built their lives within its embrace. With this legislation, we are addressing the past, giving voice to this injustice, acknowledging the pain of those displaced, offering reparative measures, and ensuring that we honor and remember the legacy of the Chavez Ravine community."Chavez Ravine was named after Julian Chavez, a rancher who served as assistant mayor, city councilmember, and, eventually, as one of L.A. County's first supervisors in the mid-1800s. Chavez Ravine as we currently know it, was established in the early 1900s, encompassed approximately 315 acres, and had three main neighborhoods — Palo Verde, La Loma, and Bishop. By the 1950s, this area was home to generations of predominantly Mexican Americans.Residents, many of whom were working-class families, built a strong sense of community, with local businesses, churches, and social organizations thriving in the area. In the 1950s, the City of Los Angeles initiated plans to acquire land in Chavez Ravine under the guise of building public housing. However, it ultimately abandoned these plans and instead sold the land to a private developer who built Dodger Stadium on the site. This displacement forced more than 1,800 families from their homes and businesses, scattering a close-knit community and leaving a lasting impact on their lives and livelihoods."AB 1950 is about confronting a historical injustice and ensuring Angelenos understand the true story of Chavez Ravine," said Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara, one of the bill's sponsors. "Only by acknowledging the past can we work towards a more just and equitable future for all communities in Los Angeles."“The unjust seizure of land from the longtime residents of these three communities in the Chavez Ravine neighborhood is a chapter in our city's history that we cannot rewrite,” said Alfred Fraijo, Jr., Latino community leader. “Our homes are central to our livelihood and sense of being—and often the most important asset in the building of generational wealth. Belated as it may be, we hope this legislation will begin a larger conversation about how to restore justice to all those who bear the scars of social, racial, and economic discrimination, and create an opportunity for healing and reconciliation for all Angelenos.”Specifically, if enacted into law, AB 1950 would result in:Historical Accountability: Mandates a comprehensive report detailing events surrounding the land acquisition and displacement, and makes it publicly available to foster transparency and education about this pivotal moment in Los Angeles' history.Reparative Measures: Proposes various forms of compensation, including offering City-owned real estate comparable to the original Chavez Ravine landowners or providing fair market value compensation adjusted for inflation. It also creates pathways for displaced non-landowning residents to receive relocation assistance, healthcare access, employment support, educational opportunities, and other forms of compensation deemed appropriate by a newly established Task Force.Permanent Memorial: Requires the construction of a memorial on Chavez Ravine or adjoining property to honor the displaced residents and their legacy.It is important to note AB 1950 focuses solely on the displaced community of Chavez Ravine and does not involve the Los Angeles Dodgers or Dodger Stadium.The measure will be heard in the Assembly's Judiciary Committee.
