C.V.'s 10 to Check Out Podcast Curtis and Aaron Vaughn came up with the idea for this podcast. The concept for this podcast is to give information and opinions about ten songs each month that may fly under the radar for most listeners of music. Also, we will play a snippet of each song and ask the listener to comment to us through one of our social media outlets so we can get different opinions on what you think about these songs and what they mean to you. The opinions of the music selected are only the opinions of Aaron and Curtis and may not reflect what the artist had in mind. They believe that is the beauty of music. It can mean so many different things to so many different people. In short, Curtis came up with this quote to describe the show: “Sharing the joy of music in hopes of bringing back old memories or helping listeners discover unfamiliar artists, bands, or songs that they might want to look further into. At the same time, helping out Veterans and their families with donations along the way."Songs for this month are:1. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) - Metallica2. Shot of Love - King's X3. True Believers - The Bouncing Sould4. Mountain Song - Jane's Addiction5. The Legend of Wooley Swamp - The Charlie Daniels Band6. I Was Wrong - Social Distortion7. Time Won't Let Me Go - The Bravery8. Do You Love King Jesus? — The Worthy Lamb Preacher: J.O. Passage: Revelation 5:1-10
Was haben Speedy Gonzales und Mario Basler gemeinsam? Richtig, nix!

12/8/19 - Do you know how to love God? Think about that a second. How does a mortal, imperfect person love a holy, perfect God? Mark tells us about an occurrence where a woman loves Jesus in an unconventional way and Jesus actually commends her. How can you love King Jesus? MESSAGE NOTES: Mark 12:28-34 ESV - 28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, "Which commandment is the most important of all?" 29 Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." 32 And the scribe said to him, "You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. 33 And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions. Mark 14:1-9 ESV - 1 It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth and kill him, 2 for they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar from the people." 3 And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head. 4 There were some who said to themselves indignantly, "Why was the ointment wasted like that? 5 For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they scolded her. 6 But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them. But you will not always have me. 8 She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial. 9 And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her." An in depth review of The Love King, Raheem Devaughn's new album “The Love Reunion.” 10 months after his last effort “Decade of a Love King,” Raheem Devaughn provides us with a 14 track album that falls right in the sweet spot. This episode of the pod I decided to take you all on the journey of my thoughts during my initial listen to the album, so this isn't your regular R&B Connoisseur pod. I reviewed the songs in order without categories and tried to give you all my real time reaction to the album. It was a journey I really enjoyed and I hope you all do too. I talked about Wale's “On Chill,” work and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! Requests are always welcome. RAHEEM DEVAUGHN Readies The Release of His Seventh Studio Album, "THE LOVE REUNION" - June 28th, 2019 (New York, NY - June 20th, 2019), Three-time Grammy Nominated and 2019 NAACP Outstanding Male Artist nominee, singer, songwriter, producer, actor and last but not least, philanthropic-pioneer, RAHEEM DEVAUGHN prepare for the release of his seventh studio album, "The Love Reunion". The anticipated album will be globally released on June 28th, 2019, via the SRG/DMG label imprint. "The Love Reunion" is led by the already Top 15 Billboard Chart hit single, "Just Right" (Testify), written by Raheem DeVaughn and produced by Tim Kelley (one half of the multi-award winning producers, Tim & Bob). "Just Right is an infectious anthem composed to celebrate not only women of black and brown color but all women globally," mentions Raheem. On Saturday, July 6th, Raheem will take over Center Stage at the 25th ESSENCE Music Festival in New Orleans. “Although this is album number seven that we’re calling The Love Reunion,” says RAHEEM of his surprise second release in eight months, “it’s a part-two to Decade of a Love King, which just came out in October. I never stop making music; I’m still working on finding new ways to use my instrument, so the best way to do that is to stay in the studio…that’s my refuge, my therapy and my sanity. [So] this Decade of a Love King trilogy has a lot of different tones and variations in it. When people go through albums six, seven, eight, and maybe nine and ten, they’re gonna be like `Wow, he gave us some real hardcore, new millennial R&B!’”

In an industry that moves so quickly it's amazing when a recording artist releases a sophomore album. Raheem DeVaughn marks studio album no. 6 with "Decade of a Love King." Raheem DeVaughn, born in New Jersey but raised in the D.C. area, has crafted a sound and vibe all his own that has proved the test of time. The crooner is heavily influenced by Soul music of yesterday, but obviously in tune with the contemporary sound. He proves this dexterity in current no. 1 single "Don't Come Easy." When you listen to Raheem DeVaughn you can't help but notice the Marvin Gaye-esq quality to his silky smooth falsetto, and feel the grit of his growls and Gospel runs. DeVaughn is one artist who has truly studied his craft and his endurance is proof posiitve. In addition to releasing new music both as a solo artist and one half of the Hip-Hop Soul group The Crossrhodes featuring Wes Felton, Raheem DeVaughn has also positioned himself as a figurehead for women's rights and empowerment. Songs like "Woman" and "Queen" are anthems at rally's from the National Mall to Soweto, South Africa. His nonprofit Love Life Foundation has been helping displaced and abused women, hungry and homeless children and even helped to send scholars to college in only four years ago! More than 10 years after hit debut single "Guess Who Loves You More," The Love King of R&B Raheem DeVaughn is still vying for his rightful place as R&B royalty. DAY 21 | MESSIAH SACRIFICEDScripture Reading: John 3:16, Psalm 22 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. — John 3:16 My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far from my deliverance and from my words of groaning?2 My God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, by night, yet I have no rest.3 But you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.4 Our fathers trusted in you; they trusted, and you rescued them.5 They cried to you and were set free; they trusted in you and were not disgraced.6 But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by people.7 Everyone who sees me mocks me; they sneer and shake their heads:8 “He relies on the Lord; let him save him; let the Lord rescue him, since he takes pleasure in him.”9 It was you who brought me out of the womb, making me secure at my mother’s breast.10 I was given over to you at birth; you have been my God from my mother’s womb.11 Don’t be far from me, because distress is near and there’s no one to help.12 Many bulls surround me; strong ones of Bashan encircle me.13 They open their mouths against me— lions, mauling and roaring.14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are disjointed; my heart is like wax, melting within me.15 My strength is dried up like baked clay; my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You put me into the dust of death.16 For dogs have surrounded me; a gang of evildoers has closed in on me; they pierced my hands and my feet.17 I can count all my bones; people look and stare at me.18 They divided my garments among themselves, and they cast lots for my clothing.19 But you, Lord, don’t be far away. My strength, come quickly to help me.20 Rescue my life from the sword, my only life from the power of these dogs.21 Save me from the lion’s mouth, from the horns of wild oxen. You answered me!22 I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters; I will praise you in the assembly.23 You who fear the Lord, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! All you descendants of Israel, revere him!24 For he has not despised or abhorred the torment of the oppressed. He did not hide his face from him but listened when he cried to him for help.25 I will give praise in the great assembly because of you; I will fulfill my vows before those who fear you.26 The humble will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord will praise him. May your hearts live forever!27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord. All the families of the nations will bow down before you,28 for kingship belongs to the Lord; he rules the nations.29 All who prosper on earth will eat and bow down; all those who go down to the dust will kneel before him— even the one who cannot preserve his life.30 Their descendants will serve him; the next generation will be told about the Lord.31 They will come and declare his righteousness; to a people yet to be born they will declare what he has done. — Psalm 22 John 3:16 is the essence of the Gospel, and perhaps the best-known verse in the entire Bible. Unfortunately, John 3:16 has become so commonplace in popular culture that the verse, for many people, has lost its potency; Psalm 22 helps us to again understand the power behind John 3:16. Across history, many Christians have interpreted Psalm 22 as a direct prediction and description of Jesus’ suffering on the cross, as Jesus was mocked and scorned during the crucifixion, and even cried out “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matt. 27:46, Psalm 22:1). Imagine Jesus Christ, Holy God in human form, suffering in the way the Psalmist suffers in Psalm 22. Further still, remember that Jesus’ suffering is punishment for YOUR sin, so that you “will not perish but have eternal life,” if you repent and follow Him. Try to comprehend how grievous your sin is, that the perfect Son of God had to endure so much to pay for it, but also think of how vast God’s love is for you, that He would willingly sacrifice Himself so your sin would be forgiven and forgotten! Reflection Questions:1. Do you always see your sin as serious enough for Jesus to suffer for? Or are you tempted to rationalize or minimize your sins?2. Do you always believe that God’s love shown in the Gospel is enough to save you? Song:“How Deep the Father’s Love” – King’s Kaleidoscope
An in depth review of Raheem Devaughn's new Album "Decade of a Love King.” Well guys I bared my soul on this one. With his 6th album, Radio Raheem continued to dominate the babymaking music game. Album after album he steps his game up and provides us all with a soundtrack for the bedroom. Over the past few months there have been multiple mentions of his music on this podcast because he is one of my favorite artists and I'm happy that, now that his new album is on the streets, I can express to you all why he is my go to for all music about Love. Bonus takes features a review of “Let You Go”, the new single from @SireOfficial (an artist who reached out to me), MORE RAHEEM DEVAUGHN and other random stuff (business as usual). Just opinions from my side about the albums (lyrics, concept, jokes, etc). ENJOY!!! Requests are always welcome. ABOUT RAHEEM DEVAUGHN: In the midst of his now decade-long steady climb to international R&B notoriety and prominence, he's been the singers' singer, a consummate ladies' man, the fellas' fella and the “go-to” modern-day R&B/soul crooner with sensibilities simultaneously grounded in the past and the present. Indeed, RAHEEM DEVAUGHN has been many things to contemporary music culture and his ever-expanding core audience, for which he's amassed a combination of prestigious award honors/nominations and multiple chart-topping releases. “There's a lot of talk about ‘King of R&B' and ‘King of Soul,” but I've got enough music for the next ten years,” says the three-time Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter. “I literally have enough music for the decade to release. If I stopped recording now and said I wouldn't record for five years, I've got enough music for ten. So I can't wait, because I'm just warming up.” Hence, on this soul-steeped occasion of his sixth highly-anticipated full-length release, we'll officially proclaim it as the Decade of a Love King.

I’m here to be one of the greatest of my generation. And that’s not based on album sales and hype, or what reality show I’m on. It’s purely based on the music, based on the culture…and based on style and grace. I’m growing up not only musically, but personally.
