Thirty years ago, at the infamous Corkscrew, Alex Zanardi delivered one of the boldest moves motorsport has ever seen.  Chasing Bryan Herta in the closing laps, Zanardi saw an opportunity where none should exist. As they crested the hill, nearly blind to what lay beyond, Zanardi committed...diving down the inside into the Corkscrew, a line few would even consider, let alone attempt.  It was instinct, precision, and fearless intent, all in a single breathtaking moment. Side by side through the drop, gravity pulling them into chaos, Zanardi merged ahead, completing a pass that defied logic and redefined what was possible on the track. Decades later, that move still echoes through Laguna Seca, a reminder that greatness isn't just about speed, but about daring to do what no one else will. Alex Zanardi's impact reaches far beyond the racetrack. He inspired generations of drivers, fans, and communities around the world, and his legacy will continue to do so for years to come.  Grazie Alex. Charles Leclerc's day at the Miami International Autodrome has taken a turn for the worse after the stewards gave him a post-race time penalty. Leclerc was called up by the officiating panel for three separate potential offences, triggered when the Ferrari man suffered a last-lap spin and tapped the wall. After that, Leclerc was noted for driving his damaged car in an unsafe condition, leaving the track multiple times and gaining an advantage, and clashing with Mercedes rival George Russell at the final hairpin. Following their investigations, the stewards opted to hand Leclerc a drive-through penalty, which – given that this was handed out after the Grand Prix – has been converted into 20 seconds being added onto his race time, dropping him down the order to eighth place. This penalty was given for leaving the track “on several occasions without a justifiable reason”, a document released following the stewards' hearing confirmed. After hearing from Leclerc and a team representative – as well as the data, video and radio evidence – the findings from the stewards read: “Car 16 spun on the last lap at Turn 3 and hit the wall but continued on track. “The driver informed us that the car appeared fine save that the car would not negotiate the righthand corners properly. “Given this problem, he was forced to cut chicanes on the way to the chequered flag. We determined that the fact that he had to cut the chicanes (i.e. to leave the track) meant that he gained a lasting advantage by leaving the track in that manner. “The fact that he had a mechanical issue of some sort did not amount to a justifiable reason. We accordingly impose a Drive Through penalty on Car 16, given the number of times the car left the track and gained an advantage. “We also considered whether there was an additional breach in continuing to drive a car with an obvious and discernible mechanical issue. We determined that there was no evidence of there being an obvious of discernible mechanical issue. We therefore took no further action in relation to that potential infringement.” In a separate investigation for Leclerc's contact with Russell into Turn 17, the stewards deemed that no further action was necessary, stating in a document from that hearing: “Both drivers considered the contact to be minor racing incidents and we agreed. Verstappen fights back from first lap spin to take fifth in Miami Oracle Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen fought back from a spin on the opening lap with a determined drive into fifth place at a chaotic Miami Grand Prix that saw Visa Cash App Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad finish in 14th as both Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson crashed out of the action early. After qualifying in an impressive second place on Saturday behind eventual Grand Prix winner and Drivers' Standings leader Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes, Verstappen made a strong start, but was squeezed on to the kerb just two turns into the 57-lap race and spun, dropping him to ninth. From there, the four-time Formula 1 world champion staged an impressive fight back through the field. The Safety Car was deployed on Lap 5 when team-mate Isack Hadjar crashed out of the Grand Prix and Verstappen took the opportunity to pit for hard tyres, rejoining the race in 16th place. Verstapppen scythed through the field on the first street circuit of the season, all the way back inside the top three. However, the huge stint driven on hard tyres began to take their toll in the closing laps and despite fighting with everything he had, the Dutch driver dropped to fifth place the chequered flag. Later on the same lap that Hadjar crashed out in the second RB22, Visa Cash App RB's Liam Lawson was also forced to retire after making contact with Pierre Gasly's Alpine. His rookie team-mate Arvid Lindblad drover another solid Grand Prix however, gaining vital street circuit experience in an F1 car on his way to 14th place. Quotes Oracle Red Bull Racing MAX VERSTAPPEN – 5th “It was a very eventful race. Unfortunately, on lap one I lost the rear and spun in the second corner, which was a shame. I recovered it well, but then we had to manage and minimise the time loss. After that we opted to do an early stop. It's easy to say after the race, but the hard tyre wasn't really working for us, as we didn't have particularly good grip and struggled a bit at the end. I tried my best to hang in there, but it wasn't meant to be. However, for sure we picked up a bit of performance, which is really promising. Overall, it was a positive weekend for us and good to be back in the mix. The car is a work in progress and we keep on pushing and keep trying to improve, so we are heading in the right direction." ISACK HADJAR – DNF “It's a tough one to take. We had a good start from the pitlane and I felt awesome the first few laps. We had very good pace early on and then the mistake came. I didn't see it coming and everything went so fast. I was just too eager and ended up finding the limit of the track. I need to look back at what happened to understand where I went wrong. The team made a big step forward and the pace was much stronger today than we've had in the opening rounds, so I'm frustrated that I couldn't score what I felt were easy points. I'm already itching to get back into the car in Canada and maximise what we now have." LAURENT MEIKES – CEO & Team Principal "Our car is very different today to what it was five weeks ago in Japan, when we were 1.2 seconds off pole. It's clear we still have a lot of work to do, but looking at our race pace today and our quali pace yesterday, I think we are on the right track. We brought upgrades, like almost everyone else, but on top of that we have been able to resolve some of the issues we had up until now and we found some lap time there too.   "I have no problem repeating myself when I say we have a fantastic team of people back in Milton Keynes and here at the race track. In my opinion its the best talent in the paddock and they must take the credit for this uptick in performance. It's been a strong united effort at 360 degrees, chassis side and PU side. "We also take home some very important learnings from this weekend on what to improve next and we are well aware that much more is needed in order to compete again for the top spot. Max reminded us of how incredible he is when he can push with the car, sticking the RB22 on the front row yesterday and fighting for each millimetre of track today, coming through the entire field and surviving a 50ish lap long stint on the hard. Isack did not have a clean weekend and we did not help him with the back of the grid start due to our mistake yesterday. His initial pace in the race was strong and I have every confidence we will regroup back in MK and come back stronger for a smoother weekend in Montreal."

Liam Lawson has been handed a five-second time penalty and has therefore lost his points finish from Formula One‘s Miami Grand Prix sprint race. After qualifying 14th, Lawson looked to have finished seventh in the 18-lap affair, shortened by one lap due to rain over the Miami International Autodrome. En el Mundial de Constructores, McLaren se ha colocado al frente con autoridad, sumando 188 puntos, mientras que Mercedes con 111 y Red Bull con 92 intentan no perder el ritmo. Y para analizar todo esto —porque vaya si hay cosas que comentar— hoy nos acompaña una voz autorizada, de las que están cada fin de semana en el corazón del paddock: Javier Quilón, nuestro experto de DAZN F1, que nos ayudará a entender cómo hemos llegado hasta aquí... y hacia dónde apunta el campeonato. Las Claves del GP de Arabia Saudí de F1 2025 1. Victoria imperial de Óscar Piastri Oscar Piastri logró su tercera victoria de la temporada y primera en Jeddah, adelantando a Verstappen en la salida y aprovechando una sanción de 5 segundos al neerlandés para gestionar la carrera desde el aire limpio. Además, se convierte en líder del Mundial por primera vez. Piastri mostró un ritmo impresionante durante toda la carrera, gestionando su posición con astucia y destacando la estrategia de McLaren como clave para su éxito. 2. Max Verstappen, segundo… y frustrado Max Verstappen perdió la posición en la salida, se saltó la chicane para mantenerla y fue sancionado. Aunque recuperó el liderato brevemente, la penalización y la estrategia de McLaren lo dejaron detrás de Piastri. Su enfado fue evidente: no respondió preguntas tras la carrera. Red Bull defendió la postura de Verstappen, argumentando que no había espacio para él y que la sanción fue demasiado severa. A pesar de ello, Helmut Marko señaló que las mejoras del coche seguirán funcionando a largo plazo, y la lucha por el título está lejos de terminar. 3. Charles Leclerc resiste y salva el podio Charles Leclerc completó el podio con una gran estrategia: alargó el primer stint con medios, paró tarde y fue rápido con los duros. Aguantó a un Lando Norris con mejor ritmo hasta la última vuelta, sumando el primer podio de Ferrari en 2025. A punto estuvo de meterse en zona DRS de Charles Leclerc. Además, estuvo bajo investigación por cruzar la línea del pit lane, pero fue absuelto. El británico desplegó su habitual habilidad para gestionar la carrera y estuvo muy cerca de conseguir un resultado aún mejor, pero su remontada fue una de las grandes historias del fin de semana. 5. Lección estratégica de McLaren El equipo papaya jugó perfecto: detuvo a Óscar Piastri cuando tenía margen para evitar tráfico y colocó a Lando Norris con aire limpio para exprimir los medios. Resultado: victoria y 1-4 que los consolida como rival directo de Red Bull. La astucia de McLaren a la hora de planificar las paradas y las estrategias de neumáticos ha quedado demostrada, consolidando al equipo como una amenaza real para la lucha del campeonato. 6. George Russell y Andrea K. Antonelli, sólidos para Mercedes George Russell terminó 5º y Andrea Kimi Antonelli 6º, ambos con ritmo competitivo pero sin opciones de podio. El rookie sigue impresionando con actuaciones consistentes y sin errores. Aunque Mercedes aún está buscando el rendimiento óptimo de su monoplaza, tanto Russell como Antonelli están demostrando que el equipo puede pelear con los mejores en la zona media. 7. Lewis Hamilton, el más flojo de los grandes Lewis Hamilton fue 7º sin brillo. No tuvo ritmo para competir con sus compañeros ni con los McLaren o Ferrari, y además perdió la batalla estratégica con Norris en la primera mitad de carrera. Hamilton mostró su frustración con el rendimiento del coche, asegurando que no se sentía cómodo y que aún no había encontrado la sintonía con el Ferrari. Los problemas de adaptación continúan siendo un desafío para el siete veces campeón. 8. Carlos Sainz, héroe de la zona media Carlos Sainz salía sexto y, a pesar de una mala parada que le costó tiempo, consiguió remontar hasta el octavo puesto, siendo el mejor del grupo medio. En su primer fin de semana con Williams, el español se mostró muy satisfecho con el rendimiento del coche y el progreso del equipo. Sainz demostró que, a pesar de las dificultades, sigue siendo una pieza clave para el desarrollo del equipo británico. 9. Fernando Alonso, sin puntos pero satisfecho Fernando Alonso finalizó 11º tras batallar toda la carrera en zona de DRS. Aguantó a Lawson 15 vueltas y casi pescó un punto tras la sanción del neozelandés. Aunque Aston Martin sigue lejos del top 10, Alonso mostró su capacidad para mantener la concentración y pelear hasta el final, aunque el equipo aún está buscando el rendimiento necesario para pelear por los puntos. 10. Yuki Tsunoda y Pierre Gasly, KO en la vuelta 1 El incidente entre Yuki Tsunoda y Pierre Gasly en la curva 4 provocó el primer Safety Car. Ambos acabaron contra el muro en un toque muy evitable, que dejó fuera a dos coches antes de completar una vuelta entera. Este incidente dejó claro cómo las primeras vueltas pueden ser decisivas y cómo el contacto entre compañeros de equipo puede acabar de forma inesperada. 11. Williams, sorpresa del fin de semana Con Carlos Sainz 8º y Alex Albon 9º, Williams fue el mejor equipo de la zona media. Su ritmo en Jeddah los colocó incluso por delante de Aston Martin y Haas, y suben al 5º puesto en el campeonato de constructores. Williams parece haber dado un gran paso adelante, con su rendimiento destacando especialmente en carreras como la de Jeddah. 12. Isack Hadjar salva el último punto para Racing Bulls El joven Isack Hadjar aprovechó el caos inicial y una buena estrategia para llevarse el último punto en juego. Contenido en carrera y sin errores: un premio merecido. Aunque no fue un resultado brillante, Hadjar sumó puntos cruciales para Racing Bulls, demostrando su capacidad para mantenerse concentrado en situaciones difíciles. 13. La polémica de la primera curva, decisiva para el desenlace El momento clave del Gran Premio se vivió en los primeros segundos, cuando Oscar Piastri logró una mejor salida y se lanzó al interior de la curva 1. Max Verstappen, por fuera, no encontró hueco y recortó la chicane, manteniendo el liderato. Aunque el neerlandés alegó por radio que no le dejaron espacio, los comisarios vieron clara la acción y le impusieron una penalización de cinco segundos, que terminó siendo crucial. Sin esa penalización, Max Verstappen podría haber ganado la carrera. Round 6 of the Formula One World Championship brought us to the Miami International Autodrome for a now infamous Miami Grand Prix. The sprint weekend saw some incredible wheel to wheel racing between Hamilton and Magnussen in the sprint, Sergeant being taken out at his home race through no fault, and  a first career victory for Lando Norris after a wonderful strategy, well timed safety car and upgraded McLaren. In other places around the paddock, we remembered Ratzenberger and Senna who both lost their lives 30 years ago this week at Imola, Adrian Newey's departure from Red Bull is now fully confirmed, and we had a massive tease and subsequent disappointment from Ferrari when regarding their special blue livery this week. On top of this, members of congress have written to Liberty Media to request answers on Andretti's denial to the sport, F1 Academy announced a Netflix series, and Williams have asked the FIA to approve Antonellis entrance to the sport. Finally, next week sees a hefty amount of racing including the 6hr of Spa in WEC, Rally de Portugal in WRC, and the GP de France in MotoGP. Max Verstappen was sneller dan wie dan ook in de sprintkwalificatie op het Miami International Autodrome. Na de sessie die de grid bepaalt voor de F1 Sprint van zaterdag, stak de wind plotseling op. Hierdoor vielen er hekken op de Red Bull-auto's.

Además, se hará un análisis de la carrera de la Indy, en Barber, cómo está el Campeonato y qué podemos esperar a partir de ahora, en este mes crucial. Un circuito moderado. Cuando Pirelli y Brembo hablan del circuito de Miami, ambos coinciden en que es un circuito “moderado”. Para las gomas, las fuerzas, tanto laterales como longitudinales, a las que se ven sometidos los neumáticos no son excesivas: es uno de los circuitos de nivel medio-bajo del calendario. Y si hablamos de los frenos, el Miami International Autodrome entra en la categoría de circuitos moderadamente exigentes para los frenos. En una escala del 1 al 5, su índice de dificultad es de 3, debido a las 7 zonas de frenado. El índice general de potencia de frenado de toda la carrera es el más bajo de los 10 primeros Grandes Premios, y la carga sobre el pedal del freno es moderada, excepto en 3 curvas. La curva más complicada en términos de exigencia de frenada es la curva 17. En ella los coches desaceleran desde el principio hasta el final, pasando de 320 km/h a 73 km/h en 2,95 segundos y 126 metros. Y, aunque está claro que el trabajo con los frenos no es excesivo, el esfuerzo de los pilotos, concretamente en la curva 17, sí que lo es: experimentan una deceleración de unos 4,7 Gs. Horarios del GP de Miami. Seguimos con carreras que no se disputan “en horario europeo”, pero al menos el horario de este fin de semana, recordemos, al Sprint, es más “amigable” para nosotros. En España podremos ver la única sesión de entrenamientos el viernes a las 18:30h. Y ese mismo día tendremos la Sprint Quali, a las 22:30h. El sábado veremos la carrera Sprint a las 18:00h. Después se suspende el reglamento de parc fermé para que los equipos preparen los coches para la clasificación tradicional, que podremos disfrutar a las 10:00h. El domingo tendremos la carrera a las 22:00h. La Indy no para. Como decíamos la semana pasada, el Campeonato IndyCar entra ahora en una época vertiginosa. El fin de semana pasado, en Barber (Alabama) nos dejó una carrera bronca, llena de incidentes y toques, con relativo espectáculo y con demasiada estrategia, que no permitió a muchos pilotos pelear de verdad, como fue el caso de Palou o de Dixon. Por otra parte, tuvo sus momentos graciosos, como “la obra de arte” que cayó al borde de la pista y que perdió una de las manos. Y fue un verdadero bálsamo para el equipo Penske, que llegaba penalizado por el uso ilegal del sistema Push to Pass. La sanción había sido ejemplar - no podía ser de otra forma, dado que el dueño del Campeonato es el mismo Penske y no quería quejas ni comentarios de otros equipos. La victoria se la llevó McLaughlin, seguido de Power, Lundqvist y Palou. Eso nos deja el Campeonato en manos de Herta, pero seguido muy, muy de cerca por Power, Palou y Dixon. Y ya nos vamos acercando a lo mejor del Campeonato: en dos semanas tendremos el Gran Premio en el rutero de Indianápolis. La semana siguiente comenzarán los entrenos para las 500 Millas y domingo 26 mayo, como siempre, coincidiendo con el GP de Mónaco en la F1, llegan las esperadísimas 500 Millas de Indianápolis. ¿Se las llevará este año Palou? El Bi-Campeón de la categoría, seguro, seguro, prefiere esta victoria a un nuevo Campeonato. Esperemos que así sea. Formula One (also known as Formula 1 or F1) is the highest class of international racing for open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). In 2018, a proposal for the Miami Grand Prix as a round of the Formula One World Championship was submitted to the city of Miami, with 2019 proposed as the first date for the race. After complications arose due to PortMiami's construction and development plans, a proposal was submitted for a 2021 race at Hard Rock Stadium. The track then moved locations from the downtown area to the area near Hard Rock Stadium and its nearby parking lots. The event is due to form a part of the 2022 Formula One World Championship, with the race taking place at the Miami International Autodrome on a ten-year contract. The Grand Prix is due to take place May 6-8.
