Several years ago, Barbara lost herself in an abusive relationship that was littered with secret violence, abuse that isn't physical. With the support of friends and family, Barbara was able to escape her toxic relationship and began to heal from the inside out. In this episode, Barbara shares her personal story and gives tips on how to detect the subtle signs of abuse in romantic relationships. In honor of Women's History Month, we're asking ourselves... "What does it mean to be a woman?" For today's guest Melissa Herrera, being a woman means being resilient. Melissa is the host & creator of Mimosa Sisterhood, a women's history & lifestyle podcast dedicated to celebrating & amplifying women's voices, past and present. But don't mistake her for a historian. What started as two girlfriends in college studying feminist history who regularly ditched class to drink at the bar, has now turned into a weekly celebration of women's stories with Melissa's unique spin of "equal parts feminist and equal parts party girl"! Melissa's mission is to set the record straight about women in history by sharing captivating stories of women whose stories were either swept under the rug or completely written over. And to celebrate this month of HERstory, we asked Melissa to bring three of her favorite must-know women of history to talk about on the podcast today! In this episode, we chat about… Healing our wounds by learning other women's stories Three of her fav women in history (see below
Boy, do we have a treat for you! We've partnered up with Melissa from The Mimosa Sisterhood podcast to discuss the fabulous life and infamous death of Thelma Todd.... or “Hot Toddy” as she was known amongst the elite of Hollywood's golden era. But Thelma was more than a pretty face. She was decades ahead of her time, calling out anyone who participated in casting couch antics and refusing to play into the dumb-blonde stereotype that still saturates films today. Unfortunately, she also got mixed up with the wrong people. From her years-long entanglement with a married man to her supposed ties to the mafia, there's plenty of suspects in this still unsolved death. Was Thelma's death a tragic mistake, or did someone decide to silence her for good? Don't forget to RATE us 5 stars, REVIEW, and SUBSCRIBE.
