About MelissaI created Silk Mountain to help leaders develop and maintain positive, sustainable company cultures to attract, engage, and retain top talent. My services have evolved over time to meet the needs of the leaders I work with to include executive coaching, leadership development, and meeting/workshop facilitation, as well as professional speaking. With over 20 years of senior HR leadership experience, I am well equipped to help you take your own leadership to the next level, using the PQ (Positive Intelligence) assessment as a springboard. I can do the same with your leadership team.I worked directly with Kim Chestney, best-selling author of Radical Intuition, to earn my Professional Intuition Certificate. As an intuitive myself, coaching me is a bit different as I show you exactly how to tap into and use your own intuition to drive growth and profitability in your business through better decision-making, gaining new insights, and increased innovation. (This does not get you off the hook for doing your homework and using your critical thinking skills. Sorry about that!) Her father was in the military, and when she was 5 years old, her family moved back to the US, and her parents divorced. Her father immediately remarried a verbally and emotionally abusive woman who didn't want Melissa around as a kid. Her father was passive about that. Melissa carried a lot of early childhood trauma from these experiences. At 20 years old, Melissa married an alcoholic and gambling addict, who was a lot like her stepmother in the way he treated her. It felt familiar to her, as she didn't start her healing journey at that time. She stayed with him for 5 years. This man was in the military, like her father, and he got an order for Germany. She just graduated from college, had a 3-year-old girl, and decided to move to Houston instead of Germany because she definitely preferred living out of the abuse of her now ex-husband rather than in Europe where she always wanted to live, but with him whom she didn't want to be around anymore. She got a job as a teacher. This was the only way she could think of to safely break up the relationship. You would think she would learn from that first failed marriage… not so much (in her own words). She remarried a cookie-cutter copy of her first husband. With this second traumatic experience in a marriage, she started to do the inner work and heal, even though there was still the early childhood trauma that was playing out in her adult life. She basically spent her entire life chronicThe reason why early childhood trauma is so bad is that the prefrontal cortex has not fully developed yet, and takes these first years of life experience as the reality to build on their entire life, even though it may be all wrong and not serve a good purpose at all.The majority of the traumas that we can experience relate more to the way we feel about the event and the meaning we attach to it rather than the event itself as bad as it can be.Melissa believes that it takes a professional to help you release the trauma out of your body and your cellular memories before it piles up too much and completely messes up with your life at a subconscious level.EMDR - Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) is a unique, empirically validated approach that is recommended by the World Health Organization as a "first-line treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder in adults."ShockDenialAngerBargainingDepressionReconstructionAcceptanceThese are the "7 Stages of Grief." How do you experience grief? The 7 Stages of Grief, published by Iris Lin and Nhi Huynh, delves into this question by extending it to interdisciplinary artists. Through a curation of different forms of art, this book explores how artists of all mediums experience each stage of grief. Whether it be through photographs, poems, music, or drawings, each one of these pages tells a unique story about each individual artist. This is a public episode. Her latest publication is her book, "God, Gratitude, & Giving," which was released in May. In the book, she shares the role these three words have played in her life story as well as how prioritizing gratitude and faith has gotten her to where she is now as an entrepreneur, a creative, and a person. She lost both of her parents as a child and has had a hard road to success, and she's passionate about sharing her story in hopes of empowering and inspiring others. Melissa Bollea Rowe made her way to Nashville, Tennessee more than 15 years ago to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a professional Songwriter. Mission accomplished. She's a self-taught guitar and piano player who doesn't take one day for granted. She's had songs cut by the famed Nine Days Band and well-known country music artists like Jimmy Charles, Karen Waldrup, Allie Colleen, American Blonde, Brecken Miles, Mary Sarah and many more. “Every step of the way has been organic and blessed. Melissa not only writes and performs for a living, she also mentors, educates and works with corporations and organizations like; Musicians On Call, The Beat Of Life and GAB, Generations Against Bullying. So, it was a natural fit when she was hired to oversee the creation of all the music for Speak Life To End Bullying, The Musical performed in over 1,000 schools and theaters nationwide. “Of all the songs I have written that have been released to the world, creating the music for this musical has truly been one of my greatest honors,” says Melissa. In 2013 she founded Rhyme Partners Music Publishing on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee. Aside from her own success as Songwriter, Rhyme Partners' catalog includes hundreds of cuts on both independent and record label artists with millions of combined streams across all digital platforms. Their songs have been recognized, nominated for, and won several independent and major music awards. Rhyme Partners' songs have reached chart topping spins on Music Row's Country Break Out Chart, Americana, and Blues charts, and have celebrated the number one spot on four Christian radio charts with the release of “Grateful” in 2019 recorded by artist Chris Golden, son of the Legendary William Lee Golden of The Oak Ridge Boys. Melissa is passionate about sharing her stories of life, success, heartache, and restoration with audiences all over the world. Building Self-Confidence in Style with Denisse Espalter It's no doubt that our biggest enemy and worst critic in the world is ourselves. More often than not, we tend to wallow in the dark moments of our lives instead of looking ahead. But what we allow to linger in our heads and our hearts reflect on our outer disposition. At the end of the day, it's you who knows yourself best. So, would you bring yourself down and let it affect your life, or would you spend more effort loving yourself for who you are? In today's episode, Denisse Espalter joins us to talk about the idea behind Unboxed Life and Style. She shares some behind-the-scenes knowledge on running the brand and how she empowers women through it. Denisse delves deep into how to build self-confidence and teaches us how women can cultivate their personal style by looking both inside and outside. She imparts some helpful advice on how you, too, can start to shift your mindset and focus on improving yourself. If you're struggling with learning how to build self-confidence, this episode will offer invaluable insights to help you! Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Discover how small businesses can effectively navigate the PR space. Find out how you can cultivate your personal style. Learn some tips on how to build self-confidence. Resources My first book, Relationship Ready: How I Stopped Fucking Randos and Started Cupcaking My Soulmate, is available on Amazon and Audible. Everyday Woman's Guide to Doing What you Love Unboxed Life and Style: Website | Instagram | Facebook Love the Skin You're In Course Episode Highlights Before Unboxed Life and Style Unboxed Life and Style evolved from the pandemic. Denisse previously worked for Lord + Taylor as a Regional Marketing and Events Coordinator before losing her job when COVID hit. Looking back on her big life experiences, she wanted to empower women to pivot their mindset when faced with challenges. Unboxed Life and Style evolved from feel-good boxes and self-care to coaching women in maneuvering their mindset. How to Navigate the PR Space and Get on TV Denisse did a segment around career pivoting amidst COVID on Ticker News. It is one of the highest promotional 24-hour news stations in Australia. Her background is in fashion marketing and design.  Denisse says it's about learning how to pitch yourself as an expert. You need to reach out and go for opportunities. Look at what's relevant now. Then, try to tie this into your business when sending a pitch. Denisse's Favorite and Not-So-Favorite 90s Trends Denisse's favorites include plaid shirts and velour tracksuits with matching jackets and pants. Not-so-favorite ones include “super” tracksuits, sheer dresses, and flare leg pants. Meanwhile, Denisse is unsure about short cardigan sweaters. Cultivating a Personal Style There is a lot of pressure in our society on what it means to look perfect. The key to having your personal style is loving yourself for who you are and your inner beauty. The more you do this, the more it will reflect on the outside. You can do all physical self-enhancements, but there are certain things about yourself that you can't change and need to embrace. Learning how to build self-confidence shows externally as well.  The Biggest Struggles People Have When Leveling Up Their Style One struggle is developing the maturity level of your style.  As you age, you can have a more mature look and still look stylish and incredible. Another thing is learning what skincare routine works for you. Finally, people find it challenging to get back into a routine. How Denisse Works on Skincare for Her Clients Denisse can refer her clients to estheticians if they want to dig deeper into skincare. Her personal favorite brand is Kiehl's. Many women come to Denisse asking about skincare for their teens.  Another tip on how to build self-confidence is to have a routine of taking care of yourself. Young girls learn a lot about the importance of skincare on the internet. Parents only need to encourage them at home. Unboxed Life and Style Boxes as gifts are one of the first pieces of Unboxed Life and Style. The idea came to fruition because Denisse felt that people were getting lost in the mayhem of COVID. It aims to uplift people and give them a surprise that would make them smile and feel great. She started with women's, teen boxes, special holiday little mini boxes, and customized boxes. Denisse tries to partner with women-owned or local businesses to support them and get unique products as well. Listen to the full episode to learn more about Unboxed Life and Style's boxes, from promotion to packing and shipping! On Everyday Woman's Guide to Doing What You Love This book is a co-authored book together with 30 to 40 women. It delves around what they want to teach women about being happy and life experiences that women can resonate with. Denisse connected with them as they were looking for more women to participate in their advocacy of empowering women. Denisse on Juggling Different Roles Denisse says it takes a lot of good communication and having a great partner to back her up. She's always motivated; she loves a long to-do list and crossing things off it. It's a matter of how much you want something to happen. She connects with people by sharing her expertise in the hopes that she can help them. Denisse's Daily Non-Negotiables Denisse enjoys a cup of coffee when she wakes up. Waking up a little earlier than everyone else allows Denisse to have her “me” time and keep herself centered and focused. She values being grateful and writing a gratitude list. Her Advice on How to Build Self-Confidence The majority of it comes down to adjusting your thoughts and your beliefs on who you are. Mistakes aren't permanent. Try to be positive in anything that you're doing. Give yourself credit for what you do. Surround yourself with people who make you happy and empower you. Take time for yourself and your body. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode “I want to help women develop, and encourage and empower them that when you are faced with these life experiences that you can go on, you can better yourself, and you can encourage. And as I always say, style your self-confidence.” “I think a lot of people, especially entrepreneurs, doubt themselves and [their] strengths and what they're capable of doing. And it's, you have to get out of that comfort zone. And you really have to push yourself.” “I think the main thing to [have] your personal style is really loving yourself for who you are and your inner beauty. The more you start doing that, the more it'll reflect on the outside.” “I think the first thing a lot of women do is put a lot of pressure on themselves on like, any mistakes you've made, or they are very hard on themselves. And, you know, mistakes aren't permanent. They're a reflection, and they're isolated moments in your life.” “On anything that you're doing, give yourself a pat in the back. Because being a mom, entrepreneur, living the day to day life that we live nowadays, isn't always like a walk in the park.” About Denisse Denisse Espalter is a renowned top Life & Style Coach and widely recognized and sought-after communications expert. Galit is all about helping women to become successful. She wants to be that role model for women and also inspire, motivate and empower women. She wants empower women to have the mindset that they can make in revenue more than a six figure income. ALL ABOUT GALIT: As a globally recognized public speaker and award-winning entrepreneur, Galit Ventura-Rozen understands that to be a person of influence is meaningless - unless the recognition is used as a means of helping others. Her journey into entrepreneurship began at twenty-one, when fresh out of college with a degree in Business Administration from UNLV, Galit boldly stepped into the male-dominated world of commercial real estate. When she married and started a family a few years later, the added responsibilities only further fueled her passion for having it all. As a commercial real estate broker, Galit owns and operates Commercial Professionals, where she has sold over $900 million in commercial property in Las Vegas over the past 25+ years. After enjoying a very lucrative career as a real estate expert, she began to experience sleepless nights with racing thoughts. As a then working mother of three, Galit wanted to help women, and so returned to college at the age of 38. In 2016, she earned a Masters's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University and graduated with honors. From there, Galit began a one-woman mission to empower, inspire, and motivate others to believe in themselves.  Whether by using lessons from her book, The Successful Woman's Mindset, offering innovative strategies for HR as a corporate trainer, or raising the productivity of others as a Business High-Performance Expert - her passion and energy are almost palpable.  What sets Galit shoulders above the rest is her unwavering belief in others and her insistence that the possibilities at success are limitless when we get out of your own way. Most recently Galit co-founded the Everyday Woman's movement to build a community where women can have the support and be uplifted to do and be what they desire in their life and business. Her success did not go unnoticed - she has received many awards and is globally known and respected for her work with charities and non-profits.  Galit most recently received TMG Entertainment Silver State Award for Entrepreneur of the Year, National Association of Women Business Owners – Woman of Distinction Award for Professional Services, was named Infinity Business Magazine's Top 5 Female Professionals You Should Know, My Vegas Magazine Top 100 Women of Influence for 2017 and 2018, the TMG Entertainment Silver State Award for Best of the Best Local Motivational Speaker/Coach and Nevada Woman's Chamber of Commerce honoree for the Athena Award in Leadership. Episode 35: Upleveling Your Swagger: Beauty from the Inside Out & Outside In with Kayleigh Clark and Danielle Gronich, founders of CLEARstem Skincare. CLEARstem Skincare is a revolutionary skincare brand that is both Anti-Aging and Anti-Acne with zero hormones disruptors or toxins. The brand was founded in San Diego, CA by two women, Danielle Gronich (owner of the acclaimed San Diego Acne Clinic) & Kayleigh Clark (Holistic Nutritionist).  The co-founders met when Kayleigh was suffering from severe cystic acne, searching for answers, and found San Diego Acne Clinic. The two bonded over their mutual passion for holistic skin health and whole body wellness. After doing their due diligence and finding that existing products contained pore-clogging ingredients or toxic chemicals that disrupted hormones, they decided that their clients and the world deserved better. Danielle and Kayleigh decided to partner in 2016 to dedicate their lives and careers to create CLEARstem skincare, and keep creating products that delivered positive change without sacrificing health. On today’s episode, Jennifer chats with Danielle and Kayleigh about the link between gut health, mental health, and skin health, including why harsh medications aren’t always the answer/how nutrition can, and should, be the first line of defense in developing beautiful, healthy skin. On that note, Kayleigh and Danielle also bust a few skincare myths: “Just because something’s healthy internally doesn’t mean it’s going to be good for your skin.” Kayleigh and Danielle also share practical tips on how they’re personally managing stress and “upleveling their swaggers” during this pandemic. AJ also sits on the board and is an advocate for My Bruises Are From – a women’s domestic violence charity. AJ is very active in teaching and competing. She teaches 4 women’s only classes and 4 co-ed classes each week between Indiana Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy and Endurance BJJ. AJ is the author of the Instructional Dare to be Fearless; the Everyday Woman’s Guide to Self Defense. She is very active in spreading Jiu Jitsu and Self Defense, teaching seminars for police departments, private companies, and one-on-one sessions.   In this episode, AJ and I discuss: Transitioning from Dance to Martial Arts and teaching self-defense. How AJ got started in self-defense and how it compares to martial arts. Learning how to breathe, learning to fall, and training in muscle memory. Paying attention to the people around you and reacting accordingly.   Key Takeaways: Play games to develop your sense of awareness of your surroundings. Breathe! Your self-defense skills will not save you if you pass out from lack of oxygen in the meantime. Notice those around you – both good and bad. There are those around you that need help, need a friendly gesture, and may just need a smile. Having the knowledge makes a difference. It’s all about what your body can do, more than the number on the scale and what you see in the mirror.   "I am a huge believer in making eye contact with everyone. People are not getting the wrong idea when I’m making eye contact. People who are doing bad things don’t want to be seen. This week I'm in conversation with Kareen Griffiths, an experienced change and communications consultant who classes herself as an ‘Everyday Woman’ who likes to connect with ‘Everyday People’. After experiencing hair loss, Kareen underwent a procedure that drastically changed her outward appearance and also challenged societal norms as to how women should look. We talk about her experience and the impact on her confidence.    An accomplished individual, her passion is people and Kareen strongly believes that change happens one individual at a time. Most importantly, connecting and partnering with clients and individuals to empower them through change is her focus. Kareen believes that life’s personal experiences play a significant part in thinking about change and she has started to explore this in her own story about hair loss for women. To hear more you can watch her story here…and if you have been impacted by hair loss and would like to know more,  you can contact Kareen via email kareengriffiths@hotmail.co.uk  Kareen's mentioned artist - Anane Vega I hope you enjoyed the show and I would love to hear your feedback! Today, we get to interview another “everyday woman” and hear how God is working in her life. Sara spends the next 30 minutes chatting with her personal friend, Jeni Canaan, and how over the last year she has had to learn to have a “palms-up” kind of willingness. Life was going ok and she was in a good rhythm, though it was busy and full of challenges. And then she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, causing her life to turn upside town. But not only did her life get twisted, her faith did as well. She wrestled with God and asked faith challenging questions like “God where are you?” She even wrestled with that tricky question when life gets crazy “God do you love me?” A year later and many lessons in, Jeni has been able to move beyond the hurt and worry of her experience, and has landed in a new space in her life. As a mover and a shaker, her career has been of utmost importance in her life. Now, she has decided to step away and take some time to Be Still! Not only that, her experience has opened up a whole new and somewhat scary place where she doesn’t have it all figured out. But this she knows -- God is good. He DOES love us. and all things can work together for good. she continues to live in a palm-up kinda fashion instead of closed fist. What will her next step be? She has no idea. But that’s okay! She is WILLING! For more resources, make sure to visit www.bestillbefree.com. You can also find us at www.facebook.com/bestillbefree, www.twitter.com/bestillbefree. In July 2013, Noelle Moore lived every parent’s worst nightmare. She arrived at the hospital to give birth—to her first child, a little girl named Finley—and a few days later, left with only her husband. Their daughter would never come home with them. As the doctors removed the tube from her daughter’s nose and the IV drip from her foot, Finley’s brief life came to an end. In the months that followed, Moore’s family and friends provided her with emotional support. But Moore was in a particularly bad place; not only had she lost her beloved daughter, but her dad had passed away a few months earlier. And only a
few weeks after losing her only child, she came home to an empty house—her husband had left her. Listen to this Everyday Woman interview as Noelle tells her how her grief turned to hope and a desire to help others suffering the same type of loss. Truly a story of God's redemption!
