This week, the Creeps are trying out hot pepper maple syrup from Spruce Knob Maple, they poured it all over some pepperoni pizza. You can find a variety of their syrups by visiting Cardinal Market in Bridgeport's Meadowbrook all, or visiting their website, Spruceknobmaple.com Then Matt covers the recent release of cctv footage from London that may be looked at in the case of the death of renowned drag queen legend Heklina in 2023. There's still not a lot of information on this story, but we wanted to get the word out there. Peaches Christ, aka Joshua Grannell, long time collaborator and friend of the deceased, said in an article, "To get the London Police to take more action has been something Nancy and I have been pushing for since the tragedy began. Why has it taken this long? There is so much more to this story that will have to be told." If you have any information on the three men last seen around the area, please do not hesitate to contact proper authorities in the UK. The Met Police is asking anyone with information in connection to Heklina's death to call 101 quoting CAD1824/03Apr23 The Creeps also mention cute tiny bottles, horror movies, the Last Drive In, and Matt missing his cue. We promise Matt will teach Kelsey who all the actors mentioned are, eventually...

Horror has been embraced by the film industry almost since its beginnings. The moving image is ideally suited to evoke the chills and thrills inherent in the genre. And perhaps greater than any other genre, horror has evolved over the ensuing century, reinventing itself so that it continues to compel new audiences long after monsters and maniacs and demons lose their fright value over subsequent generations. Many of these horror properties have resonated so intensely, they've spawned long-running film franchises that have spawn new films over and over again, some going on for decades themselves. Now, the Great Pop Culture Debate podcast wants to consider those scare factories, as we determine the best horror film franchise of all time. Listen as Host Eric Rezsnyak, GPCD panelist Kate Racculia, and special guests alternative-drag icon Peaches Christ and screenwriter and journalist Kellee Terrell discuss and debate 16 of the most iconic horror film franchises of all time, ultimately naming the best of the best. Have you ever had anyone pay you to pee in their fern? Grrrl, that's number 5 on Heklina's list, so brace yourself! Legendary Drag Legend Heklina died on April 3rd in London while performing Mommy Queerest with Peaches Christ, and San Francisco's Castro district shut down hard last week for Heklina's Memorial. It was a sold out cavalcade of drag royalty live onstage at the Castro theater, plus they shut off the street and broadcast the performances on a Jumbotron for thousands outside, and over 10,000 fans watched it live from all over the world. Why am I telling you this? Because after years of saying No to performing at Bawdy, Heklina said Yes to Dixie a few years ago, so we have her story! We are heartbroken.San Francisco legend Heklina was found dead in her hotel room on Monday morning in London by her longtime friend, collaborator and co-star Peaches Christ. Over the years we taped so many good shows with Heklina that it's hard to pick one, so this week we're reposting our favorites to celebrate the amazing life and legacy of this amazing comedian and drag queen. Along with her gal pal Peaches Christ, Heklina shaped and created the modern drag scene in San Francisco with their wildly popular and irreverent Trannyshack shows and nights at STUD. After the name change of the shows to Mother, Heklina and Peaches moved their events to Oasis, a bar she co-founded with her longtime friend D'Arcy Drollinger. Heklina touched so many people's lives, including ours. A fierce, original drag queen with a wonderfully twisted sense of humor, Heklina was a popular guest in the early days of our podcast Feast of Fun, back when we called it Feast of Fools. Later on she went on to create her own podcast “Drag Time with Heklina” where she interviewed many notable queer artists including Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters. Back in 2006, our first live podcast in San Francisco featured Heklina in it, and she was so befuddled about what the Internet was that in a rare moment, she showed up out of drag in her everyday clothes for the show. Despite always being super busy, Heklina took time to visit with us whenever we were in town or when she came to Chicago. It's devastating to think about the sorrow, but it's comforting to know that her humor, style and rascally nature lives on in the lives of so many artists, LGBTQ+ folks and the people who loved her in San Francisco. Thanks for all the memories, laughs and fun Heklina. Here's what we think her twisted sense of humor would have said about her own death: “The next roast of Heklina will be held at Fleischmann's Crematorium.”--------- Originally posted FOF #2344 - Heklina Will Not Be Silenced - 06.14.16Heklina is a living legend- she started her amazing drag show in San Francisco way back in 1996. This iconic night of drag, then known as Trannyshack, ignited the careers of countless entertainers including Lady Gaga, Peaches Christ and Ana Matronic.Over the years, Heklina saved her dollar tips and got some friends to invest in her own club Oasis only to rebrand the drag show as Mother and not without a little controversy.Today, Heklina joins us to take a look at the horrific shooting in Orlando and how gay bar owners are responding to the violence.Plus--• How drag queens have gone from being fringe acts to mainstream attractions.• Why San Francisco can't have nice things.• Facebook may delete all your photos if you don't install this app.• Heklina's tips on picking up a straight guy on Craigslist!

Yes, that classic mess of a movie or classic brilliant masterpiece, depending upon which side of the fence you fall. Wait, before we get to that and “You Don't Nomi”, the documentary that analyzes the making of Showgirls, the movie itself, the public's reaction, and how it remains a cult classic all these years later, Peaches chats more with us about her life and career that has spanned several decades on the San Francisco, and world, drag scene. Peaches has been producing full blown Midnight Movie drag extravaganzas for years, one of which was Showgirls. The other of which is Purple Rain. Yes, we have yet another Prince fan in the house to discuss one of the biggest musical geniuses of our, or any, generation. We also discuss Peaches' “Spin The Bottle”, a drag-umentary send up of Madonna's “Truth or Dare” chronicling life behind the scenes at Midnight Movie Mass. Speaking of Madonna, Peaches analyzes current day Madonna, her “interesting” social media behavior, and whether she has “lost her way”. On the subject of train wrecks like Showgirls that we just cannot look away from, Peaches chats our favorite subject, Reality TV and all its glory. In other current event news, Peaches discusses, yes we are on an Elizabeth Berkley kick, the just released Saved By The Bell Reboot. Finally, we talk about other “so bad they are good” movies such as Grease 2 and Xanadu, to name a few. Peaches Christ steps Behind The Rope. Legendary Drag Performer, Peaches Christ, that is. Born Joshua Grannell, Peaches takes us back to the beginning and what it was like growing up in a suburban Maryland town with a love of all things “alternative” - Horror Films, The Macabre, John Waters, Depeche Mode and The Pet Shop Boys, to name a few. That “alternative” also came with an early Queer Identity, which Peaches combined with her love of film, to enter film school. It was during her senior thesis at this film school that Peaches Christ was born. After film school, Peaches ultimately settled in San Francisco and voila her famed Midnight Mass live movie / drag/ musical extravaganza began. It shortly thereafter became a thing, a big thing, attracting the likes of RuPaul, The Scissor Sisters' Ana Matronic, Elvira, and even John Waters himself. Speaking of RuPaul, we discuss that one time RuPaul basically announced he was starting a little show called “Drag Race” at one of Peaches' Midnight Mass live events. Peaches discusses Drag Race and RuPaul, how far both have come from just starting out to this worldwide, for lack of a better word, “mainstream” part of Pop Culture! What about Showgirls, the sh*tstorm cult classic of a movie that was one of Peaches' main inspirations for the Midnight Mass Movie Extravaganza? Oneika Raymond walks Castro Street with filmmaker and drag performer Joshua Grannell (he/him) on their way to opening night of Frameline, the largest and longest running queer film festival in the world. The Castro is a historic San Francisco neighborhood which first became known as a hub for the Gay Civil Rights Movement of the 1970s. Oneika meets up with Joshua, or Peaches Christ, outside Queer A.F., a queer arts space dedicated to keeping LGBTQ+ artists in the Bay Area. It's also the site of  Castro Camera, the former headquarters of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California. Joshua takes Oneika on a tour down memory lane as they stroll Castro Street's Rainbow Honor Walk, pointing out notable figures like disco singer Sylvester along the way. He reflects on how the neighborhood has changed since he moved to the enclave as an aspiring filmmaker in 1996, and points out one institution that continues to be a gathering place for the queer community: the famed Castro Theatre. Oneika and Joshua continue their conversation at Orphan Andy's, a rainbow-themed greasy spoon that has been serving up late night eats since 1977. There, she learns more of the lesser-told history behind the city's queer neighborhoods, like the newly designated Transgender District in the Tenderloin. Joshua also shares how he got his start as a drag queen, and why the Castro was the perfect neighborhood for him to foster that self-expression and launch his drag show, Midnight Mass. Of course, there are countless drag performances to choose from across the city, be it brunch at El Toro, cabaret at the Oasis, or seasonal shows at W San Francisco. They'll wrap up the day by heading to the red carpet at Castro Theatre for Frameline and witness that cinematic magic come to life in the audience

Star quality! In this special episode, Michael turns the microphone on Peaches in celebration of the Severin blu-ray release and Shudder streaming debut of her movie ALL ABOUT EVIL! In addition to discussing the film's initial William Castle-esque rollout, our hosts delve into the journey of finally getting EVIL back into the hands of fans. Joining the conversation are three of the stars of GRINDHOUSE, the original short that would serve as the basis for the feature to come. First, drag icon and music superstar Vinsantos stops by to discuss the challenges of scoring a blood-soaked opus. Then, drag & cult legend Timmy Spence reveals how anger and audaciousness are a winning combo for onscreen villainy. And finally, filmmaker and actor extraordinaire Jenny Taher talks about being the first person to embody the devilish Deborah Tennis…and what it means to “troll” Peaches Christ. From killer twins to disturbed school boards, this episode has it all! Go!

Director Paul Verhoeven was considered kind of an auteur in the ‘90s.  Basic Instinct got critical acclaim. So by 1995, when he announced his new film Showgirls, people were excited.  It was intended to be a gritty expose on the legendary Vegas performers. But it wasn't. At all. In this episode, Host Brent Holmes talks to former showgirls, learning that the life of the showgirl was more nuanced, that they had to fight for equity and respect on the stage. And, he's joined by drag performer Peaches Christ, who helped solidify the film as a cult classic. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
