Zoals Naboekov in Sint-Truiden of Omeros in Den Haag. #steunjelokaleboekhandel

How do you do, fellow Backstabbers?! We are your hosts, Benton and Anna, in case you've lost your memory. And memory loss is just what this episode is about!First, Anna gives a rundown on the generalities of amnesia, and Benton goes over the details of Agatha Christie's 11 day disappearance I 1926. Then, Anna tells the tale of the notorious Anna Anderson, who impersonated Anastasia Romanov. Finally, the two watch a documentary about the life of Richard Minnich, amnesiac. Our TV doc this week is "Forgetting Dad".
We hear from Anna Anderson on showing grace to others. Referencing Galatians 5: 18 - 26 and 2 Corinthians 8. Grace is the foundation for so much of the Christian life. In John's gospel, we read: 'From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.' We live in a time where ideas around grace and truth are hotly debated. This series explores how the bible's ancient wisdom is still relevant, powerful and essential, as we navigate following Jesus in our complex world.

I Was Anastasia by Ariel Lawhon. The Romanovs hold an enduring fascination for many of us, and this is the fictional account of Anna Anderson, who for 50 years claimed that she survived the massacre and was in fact Anastasia Romanov. The author cleverly presents the details of what happened, and this woman's subsequent fight to be recognised as genuine – and then lets you, the reader. decide where you think the truth lies. Eden Undone by Abbott Kahler. In the 1930's, a German couple moved to the Galapagos Islands to establish a new Utopia where, over time, they were joined by two more groups. They were all eccentric – an Austrian “baroness” arrived with two lovers in tow - and there were shenanigans. A number of wealthy Americans on scientific expeditions visited and befriended them, along with an increasing number of tourists who came to ogle, and things eventually went from bad to worse with two of the colony missing and three found dead. Paradise was lost. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In these three new historical mysteries, I tell you about the Pythia, the High Priestess of Apollo in Delphi, who for more than a millennium delivered sought-after prophecies in a state of frenzy - but the Oracle may have been more ancient than Classical Greece. The second story is about the myth of changelings, that is to say newborns, or young children that would have been exchanged by fairies, or trolls in the Scandinavian version. Why this belief, and how did it appear? I also added a touch of true crime with the story of Bridget Cleary, a woman murdered in 1895 because she was believed to be a changeling. The third story takes us from Russia and Germany to the USA in the 20th Century: who were all these women claiming to be Grand Duchess Anastasia, the youngest daughter of the last Tsar of Russia, miraculously alive? This modern mystery found an answer thanks to DNA, I tell you how, and a little bit about Eugenia Smith or Anna Anderson. Welcome to Lights Out LibraryJoin me for a sleepy adventure tonight. Grand Duchess Anastasia of Russia was executed by the Bolsheviks in 1917 - yet, on 6th February, 1928, a mentally troubled Polish factory worker claiming to be her was welcomed to New York by Romanov associates. Anna Anderson's claim to be the Tsar's daughter climaxed in a 32-year legal saga, the longest in German history. But posthumous DNA testing debunked her claim, revealing no connection to the Royal family. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly uncover how decades of Soviet misinformation contributed to the conspiracy; reveal how Prince Philip himself became involved in debunking it; and consider a reboot of the animated version of her life… Further Reading: • ‘Did Anastasia Survive The Romanovs Massacre? Today, I wanted to close out Series 11 with a recap of the wonderful guests we have had on – from Mike Slade and James Vincent who both worked for many years with Steve Jobs, VC James Wise of Balderton Capital, Josh Dahn who set up a school with Elon Musk, pioneering tech entrepreneur Dame Stephanie Shirley, Kindred founder Anna Anderson, Google Developer Advocate Kelsey Hightower and Syreeta Challinger who taught us about the importance of storytelling and how to cope after trauma. That's something us founders don't talk much about… how to cope better, whether it's trauma, which drives so many of us, or the pain of simply building a startup with all the obstacles that comes with it.One action I have found helpful is journaling – and I have just started using Rosebud which makes it easy for anyone to build and maintain an impactful journaling practice. The number one AI-powered journaling app for mental health and personal growth, I have been using Rosebud for a week now and have already found clarity on some sticky situations, partly because instead of just writing my issues down in a physical journal, I am able to tell Rosebud what the issue is and then the app prompts me to go deeper which causes me to reflect more before offering some surprisingly good solutions which have helped me both in my personal and work life.I now do this practice every day – setting my morning intention for the day and then an evening reflection, and I have found it has made me happier and more productive for four simple reasons. 1. I have to set my intentions by typing them into Rosebud at the beginning of the day which helps me to visualise my day – you'll be surprised how useful that can be. 2. It forces me to set my priorities for the day and make them front and centre. 3. It urges me to note what obstacles I have to overcome that day which encourages me not to shy away from them and 4. Rosebud is able to take what I say are my priorities and my obstacles and then offer practical solutions with warm advice – like a friendly therapist guiding me through my day. In fact, due to the speed at which Rosebud responds to my issues with extremely wise and human-like advice, it's hard to believe I don't actually have a human therapist responding to me in real time!Like I said, I am a big fan of Rosebud - I think it's brilliant and I think you will like it too. Today's guest is Anna Anderson, founder of Kindred – a co-working and events space in West London, beloved by founders and creatives alike.Anna Anderson spent her career in social work before founding Kindred in 2019 to help forge human connection between founders. My guest this week is Anna Anderson Founder of Kindred, a co-working space in West London that is passionate about building community with real life human connection, and is inspired by the openness, warmth, and connectivity that is created by gathering around a campfire, in a way that respects and celebrates people and the planet.Anna opened Kindred in December 2018, motivated by a lack of physical spaces that encouraged people to connect with one another. They are an open house that encourages people to gather for co-working, events and exceptional food and drink. She's passionate about building a stronghold for community to tackle loneliness and to celebrate our innate, human need to connect IRL with others. She was motivated to build something with heart, and not just something extractive. She believes that humans do better when they're able to gather (and not just for work purposes), and we should create spaces in cities for this to be able to happen organically. Whilst restoring an old dilapidated Georgian building and admitting that most old bricks and mortar businesses especially in hospitality are going to have an impact on the environment, she is working towards making the space more regenerative. They work with small, local wherever possible, family run suppliers across their food and drink offering, sourcing meat and fish from sustainable, regenerative farmers, and their wine from biodynamic, organic producers. They pay at least London living wage if not more across their hospitality team and they're often able to get their food waste down to a minimum by using excess ingredients for staff meals, and their pasta of the day. They pay for green energy tariffs and are exploring ways to generate their own electricity through using solar panels on the roof. If we can all try and mitigate what we can, as we go, we can build great places for communities to come together, connect and make a difference in each others's lives. You can find out more about Anna's work on https://www.wearekindred.com/And follow her on Instagram @LondonkindredJoin Lou on LinkedinFollow her @brave_newgirl on Instagram and get her books Brave New Girl- How to be Fearless, FEAR LESS and her Internationally Bestselling book DARE TO SHARE on Amazon or Waterstones or Barnes & Noble. For decades following the horrific 1918 execution of the Romanov family, many hoped against hope that one or more of the children had escaped the bullets and bayonets of the Bolsheviks. And when a young woman came forward with an incredible story - that she was the real Grand Duchess Anastasia and had in fact survived the massacre - it sent shock waves around the world. My returning guests are Penny Wilson and Greg King, co-authors of "The Resurrection of the Romanovs: Anastasia, Anna Anderson, and the World's Greatest Royal Mystery". Amy was brought up in the world of theater. She was put on stage from the time she was nine-months-old, her father was the director and her mother was the actress, they didn't want baby sitters for their children, so if she wasn't performing, she would stay in the wardrobe department or her mother used to put her in the second row center where she could watch her. And, before she was 10-years-old, she had already worked in several plays. At a young age, Amy Irving was trained at the American Conservatory Theater and Britain's London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (L.A.M.A.D.A.). She made her off-Broadway debut at the age of 17 and, from that moment to date, she received critical acclaim, appearing in such plays as: "Heartbreak House" (1983), "The Road to Mecca" (1988), "Broken Glass" (1994), "The Three Sisters" (1997), "The Guys" (2002), "Ghosts" (2002) and "Celadine" (2004), among others. In 1976, Amy made her film debut, playing "Sue Snell", one of her most unforgettable characters in Stephen King's Carrie (1976), a classic in the horror genre, taken to the big screen by director Brian De Palma. For the next few years, Irving continued working in important films, The Fury (1978), also directed by De Palma, Voices (1979) and The Competition (1980). Later, in 1983, she gave a fine performance as "Hadass", in Barbra Streisand's Yentl (1983), and won an Oscar nomination for her great work in that successful film. Two of her best opportunities arrived in the late 80s, when she played "Anna Anderson" in Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna (1986) and "Isabelle Grossman" in the romantic comedy, Crossing Delancey (1988); she received a Golden Globe nomination for each movie. She went on to starring roles in Voices, Honeysuckle Rose, The Competition and Micki and Maude. In 2023 Amy released her album -BORN IN A TRUNK- featuring ten cover songs pulled from her life and career. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Historically Speaking-Uncommon History with an Unconventional Pair
There have been many impostors throughout history and in this 48th episode we deal with six of them, two related to English history and four related to Russian history. All at one time or another had many who believed in them (or at least tried to use them for advantage). All six went a long way to pulling off their ruse and we discuss many of the details in this episode.Episode Notes:Ivan IV (the Terrible) was Grand Prince of Moscow from 1533 to 1547 and Czar of Russia from 1547 to 1584.Books:The Earlier Tudors by J.D.
