Jackson State has completely renovated their QB room by adding Jason Brown, Zy McDonald, Philip Short, and Preston Hatter. Jackson State has completely renovated their QB room by adding Jason Brown, Zy McDonald, Philip Short, and Preston Hatter. The emphasis on adding QB talent tells me two things: they plan on slinging it this year & the answer to the QB question wasn't in the room last year. Jazmin Harris leads North Carolina A&T WBB to being one of the only 2 undefeated teams in CAA play. They have been on absolute fire on both sides of the ball. They're the highest scoring team in the conference without implementing the 3 ball much, and they have shut down their opponents frequently on defense. North Carolina Central cracks the top 25 in the AFCA & STATS PERFORM end of year polls. This is their best finish in school history in both of those polls. They were able to reach this by being the 3rd NCCU team to win 10 games and beating 2 top 25 teams along the way. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! FAMU vs Southern and North Carolina Central vs Howard are 2 of the most interesting games this week. Meanwhile Alcorn and Tennessee State have been 2 of the most disappointing HBCUs this year.  FAMU vs Southern should be an interesting game for both teams. Southern is looking to regain momentum from their loss to Jackson State and stay alive in the SWAC West. FAMU beating Southern would be nice for the Rattler resume.  Alcorn and Tennessee State have really disappointed me this year. Alcorn started with no expectations then built some as the season went on. Once optimism rose, the Braves dropped 3 games in a row including a bad loss to Grambling. Tennessee State let us down when looking at the preseason talk from Eddie George. They still have time to right the ship and win the OVC.  NCCU vs Howard has greater stakes now that SC State lost to Morgan State. The Eagles are playing for their lives. A loss and their season is over. The Bison must win this game or their chances at the MEAC championship are slim.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! As the country gears up for the midterm elections, Into America is traveling to different HBCUs across the South for a special series called, “The Power of the Black Vote.” We're talking to young Black voters about how they're shaping America, and about the issues that matter to them the most. This week, we travel to Durham's North Carolina Central University to discuss how the student debt crisis is affecting Black students' lives and their plans for the future. As the cost of higher education continues to balloon, Black borrowers are taking on more student loan debt than their white peers. And this is impacting families too: Black parents are more likely to take out a Parent PLUS loan to finance their child's education. Over the summer, President Biden announced his administration's plan to forgive up to $20,000 for federal loan holders, but the move fell far short of what many activists and organizations, including the NAACP, had been pushing for. On this episode, we visit Kamree Anderson and Dena Fischer, who share their experience with repaying Parent Plus Loans. Then, host Trymaine Lee speaks with Jonah Vincent, founder of the youth-led organization No Cap, and current NCCU students Heavyn Smith and MarQuay Spencer-Gibbs about how student debt shapes their lives and their perspective for the upcoming midterm elections. For a transcript, please visit msnbc.com/intoamerica. Follow and share the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, using the handle @intoamericapod.Thoughts? North Carolina Central knocked off North Carolina A&T for the first time since 2016 behind a strong performance by Davius Richard and the whole team; Texas Southern can't perform like that all year and expect to win. Should HBCUs Stop Playing “money games” vs larger FBS opponents? This has been a topic of conversation over the last couple of days after the result of some week 1 matchups. The answer really comes down to what are you prioritizing, how the team looks after a loss or the opportunities this game presents the players? North Carolina Central knocked off North Carolina A&T for the first time since 2016 behind a strong performance by Davius Richard and the whole team. In the first half, it was a very offensive game with both teams leading multiple scoring drives. The defense took over in the 2nd half with only 1 TD being scored by either team. In both facets, NCCU was the better team. Texas Southern can't perform like that all year and expect to win. Playcalling seemed too predictable, and it led to a stagnant offense. Defensively, they knew what Prairie View was going to do and still couldn't stop the run. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
