As an educator with over 22 years of experience, Jacqueline Ackerman shares her teaching and learning knowledge in an engaging, relatable and friendly way. She believes all learners can make progress. A high school teacher for 17 years and examiner for 15, Jacqueline established her own tutoring business. Remembering what it was like to be thrown into homeschooling when her son was very ill, she realized the main thing she wanted to do was help parents who were in this position when their child was in their teens. She has enjoyed supporting families through their often-unexpected homeschooling journey and most importantly helping them prepare for exams. Her work as an examiner is still very important to her and she is now Principal Examiner for International History iGCSE. Jacqueline also visits schools, both home and abroad, running courses that aim to help delegates understand the assessment of the qualification they are teaching and how to prepare their students for specific units. In this episode, Jacqueline discusses how her personal experience of homeschooling her son due to his illness led her to a new career path. She explains that Ackerman Home Learning offers a mix of one-on-one tutoring services, helpful online resources, and plans for a future membership community aimed at providing support and guidance to parents suddenly thrust into homeschooling. Jackie also talks about the challenges she faced, such as technology hurdles and imposter syndrome, and offers advice for other teachers considering starting their own online businesses. Client relationships are tricky, especially when you're an entrepreneur or a new business owner. There's no single strategy that will help you get along with every client you have, and because each client translates to more money for your business, it's tempting to want to do everything you can to keep every one of them. Unfortunately, not all client relationships are positive, and there are cases where it's better to fire a client than allow the relationship to continue. By firing a client who doesn't align with your company and its values, you are freeing up space for those clients who appreciate you and are easy to work with. Well, in this show, Chris is discussing three circumstances when you should move on from your client, and make room for the clients you deserve! Whether we like to admit it or not sometimes the number one thing holding us back from the success, business, and life that we dream of, is ourselves. And we don't even realize we're doing it sometimes, but self sabotage, comparison, and overthinking can really hinder our journey forward. That's why I wanted to bring Lindsey Mango on! To really unpack what helped her reach her potential and how she helps her clients do the same. Lindsey is a mindset guru and coach who helps women change the way they think, act, show up, and take action so they can become the woman that they're meant to be. She's passionate about this work because six years ago, she found herself with a life that looked picture perfect on paper, but felt like something was missing. She knew she was capable of having so much more in every aspect of her life but even after taking tons of action, she found herself stuck in the same spot. It wasn't until she met a life coach that she understood that her mind was her biggest roadblock. Within six months, she completely changed her life. She left a relationship. She started a coaching business. She replaced her corporate salary and created the life she used to daydream about. Today, she's built a coaching business that's generated over $2 million in revenue, serves hundreds of clients to create lives and businesses they're obsessed with. The way that she carries herself and the thoughtfulness and intention of this conversation is something that you're going to love to dive into. What you'll hear in this episode: [2:40] Lindsey's story and how she became a life coach. [9:50] Overcoming the struggle's she faced. [13:40] Learning how to honor your identity. [17:15] How to battle the comparison trap. [22:15] Take inspiration, but not too much influence, from the people you follow and look up to. As a business owner, we're always chasing growth, we're always chasing that next thing, it feels like no matter what we do, we're always hungry for that next level. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes we can feel like we're starting to plateau when it comes to our income; like we can't break free from a certain level and we're not sure how to unlock that next step. What's the next level of freedom that you're hoping to unlock? Our individual definitions of freedom are subjective and constantly evolving. I'm thrilled for this conversation because we have the privilege of hearing from Mike Ayala about his journey, how he dared to challenge conventions, and unapologetically forged his path towards financial freedom. Mike's life experiences have led him to discover what he truly values: the freedom to prioritize his family, nurturing relationships, and the financial means to support that lifestyle. While many entrepreneurs might believe that this kind of freedom is unattainable, Mike and his wife Cara are living proof that with the right mindset and support, anyone can experience true freedom on their own terms. As a self-described serial entrepreneur, Mike has been involved in over 2000 projects worth over a billion dollars. Nowadays, he helps busy professionals and business owners to attain authentic freedom and live their best lives. Mike is a real estate investor, founder, venture capitalist, and, above all, a devoted father and husband. There's so much to be gained from his wealth of experience! What you'll hear in this episode: [1:00] Mike's background in life and in business [5:00] Why he started a business at age 24 [7:00] What led Mike to exit his business and move into his next season of business and investing [11:15] The importance of mentors in life and business [13:30] How he got into real estate investing [16:45] How you can cultivate mentorship relationships in your life [19:00] Mike's best advice for investing for freedom [23:00] What's next for Mike and Cara as they plan to exit their real estate investing era [28:30] How you can work with them [29:45] How you can unlock your next level of freedom * To get more information about Mike & Cara's offerings for couples, text the word COUPLE to (480) 531-7519 * Follow Mike on IG @themikeayala * Learn more about Velocity Venture Partners on their website: www.velocityventurepartners.com/ * Listen to Mike's podcast, Investing For Freedom: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/investing-for-freedom-with-mike-ayala/id1498786451 * Related episodes: 218. You would not believe how often I get this question. It's often hard or unclear how you should end things with a service provider, but especially a finance pro! Ideally, your accountant has an engagement letter or contract that lays out the terms of your agreement, that you can reference when you're ready to move on. But many accountants don't, they opt to have an implicit renewal instead. In this case, you aren't obligated to a contractual term but there are still other things to be taken into consideration. Think about the timing of your exit. If it's tax time and they've already started your taxes, it's best to stick around until they've finished, unless there's an urgent reason to leave. If you're a large client for the provider it's also helpful and considerate to provide as much time as possible for a transition. In any case, you want to make sure you have everything you need from them and that the scope of their work has been completed before you share that you're moving on! What you'll hear in this episode: [1:45] What to do if you don't have a clear contract cycle. [3:15] Selecting the right time to switch to a new accountant. [4:45] You don't need an excuse to change your accountant, you're allowed to do what you think is best for your business or personal finances. [6:30] Follow these guidelines regardless of the situation. [7:45] What to do if you're looking for more accounting and tax planning support for your business. * Related episodes: 216.
