Podcast - Show Notes Have you ever felt alone in the fight? As Entrepreneurs, it is easy to get so busy and focused on our goals that we don't cultivate relationship. The result is a lonely, vulnerable place. If you choose to stay in that place, you will find your success and impact limited. [Tweet ""You find your calling when you find your family" - @caleb_campbell"] However, you have a choice. You can take action, invest in relationships and change your destiny. Here is what Solomon had to say about community. "This is the case of a man who is all alone, without a child or a brother, yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself, “Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now?” It is all so meaningless and depressing. Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." 5 Benefits of Community to the Entrepreneur Someone to share success with Help when you fall Keep your hope in face of opposition Conquer the enemy Makes you stronger Complete Show Notes with Clickable Links at www.BrianMininger.com/sbr53 The post 53: 5 Benefits of Community for the Entrepreneur appeared first on .

Then, You will be able to reap a mighty harvest! Click on the player below to listen to this weeks podcast. Brian The post 52: The Parable of the Sower appeared first on .
Sometimes less is more. As a driven "type A" personality... this is hard for me to admit. However, over time I am learning how to give myself time and space to think. Every time I take time to evaluate my life I realize that there are ways I can do less, do it better and make a greater impact. Our lives are constantly filled with new things. Do you need to consider doing some "pruning" in your life and focus on less so that you can have a greater impact? Simplicity is powerful! Why are we so good at making things complex? These are the questions I am asking myself as I "prune" my life. In today's show I share how this thought process is impacting the future of the Small Business Revival Podcast. As a result of examining how, " less could be more," I have come to the following conclusions. I will produce 1 show a week instead of 3. I want to produce a show that is well done. I am only able to do that if I produce less shows. I am going to launch a new show that focuses on a smaller audience.... Christians who want to build the Kingdom of God through entrepreneurship, social initiatives, and ministry. These conclusions have led me to the decision to cease production of the Small Business Revival Podcast and launch a new show. With that decision comes the need for a new title. Here are 4 options I am considering. What are your thoughts? Potential New Podcast Show Titles The Brian Mininger Show Biblical Entrepreneurship Podcast The Word for World-changers Show The Solomon Effect Podcast Share your thoughts or suggestions in the comments or on social media. All of life has seasons... For the last 3 1/2 months I have been in a season of working very hard to publish the Small Business Revival Podcast 3 times a week. It is time for a season of rest, evaluation and reflection. Therefore, over the next few weeks I am not going to publish the regular episodes. Instead, I am going to share with you updates as I go on this journey. These updates will be more impromptu and recorded on my iPhone as I have time. I am also going to focus on investing energy in the needs of my family during this time of relocating. Thank you so much for your listener-ship. I truly appreciate your support. During this season I would love to hear from you. My desire is to serve you. If you have suggestions, questions, or feedback on the show please email me by clicking here. "For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace." Since then the message of Gospel Patrons has spread to business and ministry leaders around the world, helping them become radically generous and personally involved in the work of God. Today's Guest is Kevin J. Donaldson of Real Wealth Solutions (Mastermind Group) and author of "10 Secrets of the New Rich." "My name is Kevin Donaldson. I'm an entrepreneur, author, and business coach. I build businesses, and I build people, for a living. There's no question that life is tough. And when challenges come your way, there's always an excuse to quit. I've been there myself--I had a rough home life, I was a poor student, and my marriage only lasted four years. And to top it all off, my first business venture plunged me into $1.2 million in debt. But despite the challenges I faced, I was determined to succeed. And after decades of hard work and learning, I'm proud to say that I've broken through adversity and now enjoy a successful career. I'm a successful Internet marketer, e-book and article writer, and network marketing business coach. And now, my goal in life is to teach as many people as I can how to turn their challenges into their own stepping stones to success. Add me to your circles and let me share with you the wisdom I've gleaned from decades of adversity." Biblical Entrepreneurship "To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper." ~ Proverbs 19:8 Key Takeaways You need to know how to get along with people. Today's guest is Matt Miller of School Spirit Vending. "The School Spirit Vending concept was developed in July of 2007 by Matt Miller of Kingwood, TX. As a father of three, with years of expertise in both print media and vending, Matt was able to see school fundraising from a unique, outsider’s perspective. One day, after a child in the neighborhood came by the house selling items for his school’s fundraiser, Matt decided to create a business that would help schools and their clubs or organizations raise money more simply. Year-round, hassle-free fundraising with School Spirit Vending was born! The School Spirit Vending concept and its simplicity has caught on so quickly that schools all over the country are already benefitting from the program with great results!!" Biblical Entrepreneurship "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost..." ~ 2 Corinthians Rely on Him and not on your own strength. Biblical Entrepreneurship "As workers who tend a fig tree are allowed to eat the fruit, so workers who protect their employer's interests will be rewarded." ~ Proverbs 27:18 Key Takeaways Why everyone should have a part-time business? Small Businesses make a massive impact on the community around us. Trend toward freelancers / independent contractors is increasing. If you see your employer as someone who exists to serve you, you will see your value to your employer decline. Employers allow to pay for results, not time. "The number of contingent employees will increase worldwide or independent contraactors in the US alone contingent workers will exceed 40% of the work force by 2020...traditional full time, full benefit jobs will be harder to find... small businesses will develop their own collaborative network of contingent workers, minimizing fixed labor costs and expanding the available talent pool...Self employment, personal and micro business numbers will increase as a result of this...government will misclassify workers creating a major issue for companies of all sizes and work classification and work style will emerge as a target of intense political debate." When the directors of that organization thanked the Casters for their contribution, they expressed their growing concerns for the children in their care. Malnutrition was taking its ruthless toll on their lives. In desperation, the directors said, “If you know anyone that can help us with this problem, please let us know.” With the world’s most advanced nutritional and wellness technology at their fingertips, Sam and Linda donated a one year supply of nutrient support. One year later, the directors came back wanting more and out of the direct need, MannaRelief was born. In this Friday's Town Hall Show, Victoria and I talk about the importance of our physical health in building our businesses and fulfilling the call of God on our life. Biblical Entrepreneurship "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you." ~ Philippians 1: 21-24 Key Takeaways Why improve your health? "You can't accomplish great things if your body can't handle the strain" Kary Oberbrunner A study by economists in Finland studying 5000 identical twins found that those that exercised regularly earned 14-17% more than their more sedentary counterparts. They found that those that exercised were more persistant in the face of challenges. "The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. Today's guest is Tom Clifton, a cofounder of Animoto. "Animoto makes it easy to create professional-quality videos on your computer and mobile device. At our core, we believe that video is the most powerful way to communicate what you care most deeply about—whether that’s your family, business, or a cause—and that making videos shouldn’t be limited to only those with technical know-how and expensive production equipment. That’s why our team is committed to building products that make it cost-effective, fun, and effortless for anyone to create exceptional videos. We’re about helping you share your story with the world." Key Takeaways Have at least one technical founder that you can trust to do the work well. You have to see things coming and be willing to change. You must be able to adapt. Change is the norm. It's safe and okay. When hiring you must look to see whether the individual is susceptible to change. That is a good quality to have in an employee. Today's Guest is Jason Womack, author of "Your Best Just Got Better" and founder of The Jason Womack Company. "Jason W. Womack, MEd, MA sees the world differently. He doesn’t deny there are 24 hours in the day, but he defies low expectations for what can be accomplished in that time. He won’t refute that life is busy, but he refuses to compromise when it comes to increasing productivity and maximizing time for the things that are most important. How does he do this? Jason is, above all, a teacher, but his teaching takes many forms: international speaker, productivity coach, and author of the business development book: Your Best Just Got Better: Work Smarter, Think Bigger, Make More, (Wiley, 2012). His clients are more succinct in describing him: “Jason is a force of energy.” He provides practical methods to maximize tools, systems, and processes to achieve quality work/life balance. He has worked with leaders and executives for over 16 years in the business, military and higher education sectors. He thrives on working with people who know they have more to do in life. These are the kinds of people who are already motivated and want help in achieving all that they’ve set up as goals for themselves. Jason focuses on creating ideas that matter. He strives to improve the way leaders think about implementing solutions. He focuses in on customizing each person’s productivity and create systems that are sustainable in everyday workflow. Jason shows that working longer hours doesn’t have to be your only choice to increase your productivity and performance. He teaches practical solutions to everyday workflow that will free you up to focus on your bigger leadership goals and projects. Jason is the founder of Get Momentum and The Womack Company. Do you desire to have success? Success in your business, in your personal life? Do you desire to see your wealth and impact grow? The beginning of building anything is the foundation. What are the foundations of a successful business and life? Here are my core beliefs about Faith and Business. I challenge you study the Bible for yourself to see what it has to say about business. My Foundational beliefs about Faith and Business Business, Entrepreneurship & Making Money is a Godly pursuit. Wealth comes from aligning ourselves with God's abundance principles. We are no longer under the curse of "the toil of the ground." The good news of Jesus transforms all of our lives, including our work. We were created to fulfill our destiny in God's plan to redeem the world. The Bible is the greatest business book of all time. Revival is going to require more than 10% and a few hours on Sunday! The Kingdom of God needs the entrepreneurs to come off the sidelines. Faith results in a different way of doing business. Faith gives us an advantage in the marketplace. Key Takeaway Laying Your Foundation - Grow into Your God Given Calling "That night God appeared to Solomon and said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!” Solomon replied to God, “You showed great and faithful love to David, my father, and now you have made me king in his place. O LORD God, please continue to keep your promise to David my father, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth! Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of yours?” God said to Solomon, 'Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern my people— I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!'" On today's Town Hall meeting I share some of my story as I learned to step out of my box and pursue my true calling. I will be sharing with you six steps to help you find your own personal calling. Whether you are living your calling or aren't quite there yet, I believe that you were created for more. "The revitalization of small business is also a revitalization of the family. The integration of biblical principles in today's business as well as today's family is much needed. Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work." ~ Anthony Witt Biblical Entrepreneurship "Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you do not know if profit will come from one activity or another - or maybe both." ~Ecclesiastes 11:6 In order for a business to be successful it is a good idea to have a business plan, but before that you need a life plan. You need to understand what you were created to do. Do you know what your life is to be about? Do you know what you want your life to look like? Do you know what your purpose and your calling is? You need to build your business to serve the purposes and plans for your life, not the other way around. Six Steps to Finding Your Calling Understand what a "calling" is - It is the unique place in God's purpose and plan of redeeming the world and showing His glory that your were created to fill. Embrace the Journey, not the destination. Take a deep look inside. Lean into the resistance. Let go of something you are holding onto. Take action to move forward. Today's Guest is Jessica Hall of Harmony Harvest Farm. "I am a stay at home mom working hard to make our family farm business successful. I select the flowers we grow, determine planting dates, plant the beds, harvest the flowers, arrange the flowers, invoice the flowers…. since it's a small family business, we all wear a lot of hats around here! I have always had a love and interest in horticulture even as a child. In high school, I was a member of the FFA's horticulture club and participated in horticulture design events (landscape design on a state level, and floral design on a national level). As a teenager, I worked for a landscape company and also a florist. I attended Virginia Tech and graduated with a degree in Horticulture and then spent the next six years working in horticulture distribution, designing greenhouses, consulting with growers, and providing technical assistance on greenhouses and chemical recommendations on crops. Due to that job, I served one year as chair on the North American Horticultural Suppliers Association (NAHSA). Since we decided for me to become a stay at home mom in 2010, I began to devote more time to developing our dream of owning a farm. Due to the relationships I formed within the horticulture industry, I learned invaluable lessons from my former customers' experiences and I applied this knowledge when formulating our business plan for Harmony Harvest." "Communicating and educating go hand and hand with the marketing of your business." We have to stay educated and caught up with what the public is needing and wanting. Let people feel that they are apart of your story strengthens your connections and relationships with your customers and partners. Passion. You have to have a passion for what you are doing. I believe that the Bible is one of the greatest business books of all time. When we live by the principle of prosperity laid out in God's word we are positioned success. I especially love the book of Proverbs in the Bible. It is a treasure chest of wisdom to help us be successful in business. In today's podcast I share 10 of my favorites. Here is the list. 10 Proverbs to Grow Your Business Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time. (Proverbs 13:11 NLT) Without oxen a stable stays clean, but you need a strong ox for a large harvest. (Proverbs 14:4 NLT) Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps. The wise are cautious and avoid danger; fools plunge ahead with reckless confidence. (Proverbs 14:15-16 NLT) A growing population is a king’s glory; a prince without subjects has nothing. (Proverbs 14:28 NLT) There is treasure in the house of the godly, but the earnings of the wicked bring trouble. (Proverbs 15:6 NLT) Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success. (Proverbs 15:22 NLT) Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed. (Proverbs 16:3 NLT) Giving a gift can open doors; it gives access to important people! (Proverbs 18:16 NLT) To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper. (Proverbs 19:8 NLT) Do your planning and prepare your fields before building your house. Today's guest is Lynne Breeden of LTD 7 from Staunton, VA. "Lynne Breeden’s Stunton, Va., based store has the feel of a well-executed painting brought to life by the hard work and experience of a creative visionary. Breeden opened LTD 7 on May 30, 2013, but indeed her retail history is storied and reaches back into her college days, working retail for the likes of The Limited, Lord and Taylor, and Casual Corner. Although Breeden briefly tried her hand at banking, she soon returned to retail, helping other stores run their businesses and honing her skills in the process. In 2002 Breeden launched her first store, which specialized in dance apparel and gifts. By 2008 she sold the store, which had gone through significant change in that time, and became a consultant for retailers seeking to enter the industry. But Breeden proved she couldn’t stay away from first-hand experience for too long as a self-describe “retail junkie” when she opened her latest and greatest concept in early 2013 to “live the dream,” as LTD stands for (“7” is a reference to the Breedens’ faith, as well as number of vendors they represent)." In today's Town Hall meeting, we are doing something different. My guest is, my beautiful wife, Victoria. And, we are taking you "behind the scenes" to include you in some of our conversations about life, business and where we are going as a family. Hopefully, you will be encouraged by our journey as ordinary people, making challenging decisions. Key Takeaways Simplifying Life allows us to focus on what really matters. Simplifying schedules involves our work as well as our family schedules. Leaning into the discomfort helps you push through it. Today's Guest is Dan Keiser, architect of the Keiser Design Group located in Columbus Ohio. My desire to become an Architect began at age 10, when asked by a friend of the family, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Without hesitation, I said I want to be an Architect. After experimenting with many Lego structures, I was accepted to study Architecture at Kent State University. Another childhood dream from an early age was to start my own firm, which was realized in 1995. I love what I do and cannot imagine ever having to get a real job and going to work every day. Along with running KDG, I am a husband and father of three children. Being a Husband and Father is what brings me joy and satisfaction, but in my spare time I enjoy coaching, golfing, running, hunting and fishing." - Dan Keiser Key Takeaways Be focused on the individual. What are their ideas, dreams, perspectives, and thoughts? Surround yourself with people that will elevate you and your company. Invite interaction as you work on projects. Welcome comments and feedback. Focus. Have a clear vision and direction of where your headed. It will make all the difference. In today's podcast I am going to share what I learned about myself... and the recovery process of overcoming failure. I am going to dive into my own personal journey. This is not easy for me, but I think it is important. We don't talk about failure, and therefore many people suffer in silence. I believe that through sharing my story, others who are struggling can find hope. Maybe that person is you. Maybe that person is a friend or family member. (If so share this with them) I want you to know that you are not alone. After my construction business failed in bankruptcy in 2009, I really struggled. I was stuck in the failure and the past and unable to move forward. I had to learn how to start over... but I was a wreck. Everything I had poured myself into, and all of my hopes and dreams were dashed. My self confidence was shot, my "good name" ruined and I was depressed. I wondered if anyone would ever need me and if I could ever make a positive contibution again. I wondered if I could ever provide for my family. These were dark days. I tried to help small businesses then, but I wasn't in any shape to be able to do that. Looking back, These are the three things I did to get Unstuck. I paid attention to what was going on inside of me emotionally I shared with friends and family who were close to me I started doing something productive. (Almost by accident) Doing something productive got me going in a forward motion... the worst thing was sitting at home, filling out applications, and collecting unemployment. For my own morale, I needed to contribute. This past spring I had a similar experience... I had left my job to start my own business doing construction work, so that I could figure out my path. Then I got hurt, and we lost our income for a month and a half and it was a slow road back. During that time, I figured out that I wanted to help people and not continue in construction. I tried to launch an organic farm ititiative, but was unsuccessful and I had to keep searching. But this time, I got moving much faster, I went to work with a landscape company and built from there. We all experience failure. Don't quit. The sun comes up tomorrow. Grow as a person. Have courage and don't give up on your dreams. [Tweet "Don't quit. I was once told that you don’t mess with a single mother, because once they get their mind set on doing something it gets done! That pretty much sums up who I am and what I am about. Coupled with my incredible work ethic and desire to continue to grow, I am extremely reliable and I have a knack for taking limited information from clients and creating several options to meet their needs. Through writing, speaking, coaching and training, my mission is to help you jumpstart your work, ignite your life and leave your ultimate legacy... The Mission of The Catalyst Project is simple – We want to plant seeds and watch them grow. There’s no greater measure of success than facilitating the growth of others. I’m here to tell you that no matter your situation or circumstances, you can make a difference. All it takes is a change in mindset and the willingness to give of yourself. I challenge you to stop playing small. It’s time to make your impact on the world." Key Takeaways Focus on adding value to the other person. When you do this, in turn, you may receive something for yourself that was not expected. Value your time. Value every second you have and use it to make a difference and reach out to others. In today's Town Hall Meeting, we are talking about Networking. Our guest is Matt McWilliams who is a business consultant from small businesses to large businesses. He mainly works with affiliate marking but also provides his services in areas such as social network marketing and customer retention. "I am a world changer. And so are you. My goal here is to help you become the world changer that you were born to be. Sometimes that means helping you to shift your mindset. Sometimes it means giving you the tools you need in life, in business, or in relationships to change the world. Sometimes it means some good old fashioned motivation and inspiration... To be clear, I will not make you a world changer. You already are. My goal is to help you find that person inside of you." Key Takeaways When it comes to networking your mindset is key. You must believe that you have the strength and ability to connect with people. You DO have the ability, it's whether or not you believe in that capability that makes all the difference. When you believe in your skills and strengths it shows through your network. Not just in your network but also in your interactions, ideas, and relationships. Today's guest is Chip D. Thompson the Host of the 'Out of the Box Local' podcast. Through the years he has built a portfolio of business experience that includes, landscaping, real estate, handyman and computer sales. Today my focus is about getting more business for my clients. It is interesting to look back over my life and find what pieces have come together from each one of my experiences to give me the perspective I have today. I enjoy the fact that now I work with businesses or B2B, in truth I’m working with the owners of those businesses. If you want to see me in my prime, meet me at the next networking event when surrounded by happy energetic business owners! - Chip D Thompson Key Takeaways You need to understand why you excelled at what you did, because it may not be what you were supposed to do. Then you are able to move on to something else. If your gonna be an entrepreneur, why not take the initial 'out of comfort zone' approach? Take time to slow down and listen to your family when they want to talk. Focus on one thing, set your mind to those tasks for the day, and get them done. Social Media is a great networking tool. It is a great way to connect with others and get to know many different people. Start with networking and find someone that challenges you and get referrals from them. Try to get tools that will work on your computer and your phone. This will give you easy access when you need it. Welcome to the first Friday Town-Hall Meeting. This is the show where were answer questions, discuss the challenges of small business, sometimes have a guest, and have a little bit of fun. In today's episode we talk about the challenges of finding new customers and getting new sales. Every small business needs sales, so I am going to dive deep and talk about the solutions to this challenge. Speaking of challenges. It was a challenging start to the week... We had some server issues, but we were able to get the podcast off the ground. Thank you for being a part of it. I would like your feedback. My desire is to serve you. Let me know your thoughts and suggestions for the show. You can leave them in the comments below. These business challenges came from our reader survey that we did late last year. Business Challenge #1 "How do I laser-focus and define my core target client persona and her/his most urgent/biggest pain points to tailor my service modules to get precisely the results they need." Profile your existing clients or determine the profile of the market you want to serve. Survey Sample products Market before you produce and get feedback Business Challenge #2 - "How do I connect with the right market in ways that drive new business and create sustainable relationships and income potential." Once you have identified the market, find out where they "hang out" Engage them there. Build connections with influencers Give lots of "gifts" Have a strategy and system to build those relationships over time. Finding New Sales Past customers (Sales & Referrals) Consistently build connections Leverage tools so that you can connect 1 to many instead of 1 to a few Look for tools that foster a two way conversation not just a 1 way conversation.
