Marketing with purpose is a key part of building your business. This can often feel intimidating. The key to successful marketing is to align it with your purpose and values. Three Components for Marketing With Purpose Focus on these three components to achieve successful marketing with purpose: authenticity, intention, and generosity. Embracing Authenticity With so much focus on social media, fake authenticity may feel rampant. Genuine authenticity comes from being transparent and truly understanding your purpose. It involves knowing why you started your business and having the courage to share your mission consistently with your audience. Being transparent and honest with your audience builds trust, which is foundational in relationship marketing. The Power of Intention With so many tools and marketing platforms available, it can be overwhelming to know where to start, and frequently, businesses are doing too much. Less is more when marketing with purpose. You want to be intentional about where you spend your time and who you surround yourself with. Think about your soulmate client and look for 2-3 of the biggest blocks that they are facing and provide thoughtful and impactful solutions for these potential clients. Rather than spreading your efforts thinly across multiple marketing channels, focus on 1-2 areas, do them well, and stick with them. Marketing with purpose means being very intentional about where you focus your efforts and keeps you aligned with your broader goals. Generosity as a Superpower Generosity is not commonly seen as a marketing strategy but is a crucial component of marketing with purpose. Giving without expecting anything in return helps build relationships. When you ask someone to meet with you, you ask them for their time. Instead, try offering something that you believe will be helpful for them; giving something without asking for anything in return helps form strong connections and trust. You can provide a lot of information without giving it all away. Consider what you can offer that provides a sound idea of the bigger picture of your services - what you offer and how you help your clients—the solution you provide for them. Bringing It All Together Marketing with purpose is not just about selling products or services; it's about building relationships grounded in authenticity, intention, and generosity. Entrepreneurs can build trust and cultivate lasting connections with their audience by focusing on these core elements. Whether you're a seasoned marketer or starting your business, these principles (authenticity, generosity, and your superpower) can guide you to more meaningful and effective marketing strategies.   Access all links and full show notes

There is power in meaning, especially in your marketing, and it may be the ticket to achieving the growth that you are seeking.   Pete Steege is the CEO of B2B Clarity. With over 30 years of marketing experience with a wide range of B2B technology and manufacturing businesses, Pete helps companies manage and scale their businesses by using meaning in their marketing to scale their businesses.   In the early days of his career, Pete realized that marketing focused on sharing intellectual information while entirely missing the why behind the message. Marketing is supposed to be about relationships, and relationships are built on meaning. Companies grow when clients can clearly see why you can help them reach their goals.   Pete shares the factors that create meaning behind these relationships, including authenticity. Tell the truth about why you are here in a transparent and authentic way. Focus on the work that you care about rather than trying to meet the needs of a too-broad spectrum of clients.   The trust that you grow with your key clients is the most powerful element to your success. When you lean into, and then highlight, what you care about most, the growth will occur naturally.   Interview Links: Pete Steege   Resources: Growth Navigator Coaching Scaling Up Summits (Select Bill Gallagher as your coach during registration for a discount.) This Christian film with a steampunk aesthetic is notable for its cast made up entirely of kids. Joel and Lisa Steege and their seven children create films as Little Crew Studios. Their most recent work is 2016's THE DEFENSE OF NEW HAVEN, an adventure story set in a fictional society where masked Raiders are sowing chaos and disappearing innocent civilians. When protagonist Alec is caught in the crossfire and his younger sister goes missing, he insists on joining the CDF (City Defense Force), even though his disability makes him an unlikely fighter. Intrigue and adventure follow Alec and his new colleagues, including journeys through hidden underground tunnels and nautical battles on mini steamboats. Something genuinely impressive about the Steeges' productions is that they construct their entire sets on their property. Parents and kids work together to create elaborate cityscapes and real bodies of water big enough to film boat scenes. Joel and Lisa Steege are so dedicated to their productions that Joel quit his job to pursue the family film business full time. The Steege children rise to the level of the production with their acting ability; they must be extremely smart and well spoken to be able to deliver such complicated lines. However, listening to kids dispense nonstop steampunk lore in a monotonous childlike timbre gets really tedious after about 15 minutes. Still, a society that truly recognizes talent and drive in the arts would automatically vote to allocate $100 million to allow the Steeges to create their magnum opus in the chibi Christian genre. Welcome to the return of Intermission, a spin-off podcast from The Film Stage Show. Led by yours truly, Michael Snydel, I invite a guest to discuss an arthouse, foreign, or experimental film of their choice. For the thirteenth episode, I talked to Susannah Gruder, a New York-based film critic with bylines at outlets including Reverse Shot, Bright Wall/Dark Room, Indiewire, Mubi Notebook, and Hyperallergic. On today's episode, we talked about George Sluizer's 1988 French/Dutch existential procedural, The Vanishing (available on the Criterion Channel). An adaptation of Tim Krabbé's The Golden Egg, the film's premise is familiar: A couple is on vacation (Gene Bervoets and Johanna ter Steege), they stop at a crowded rest stop, and one of them seems to disappear into thin air. But while Sluizer's sleek but collected approach nods to mind game masters like Alfred Hitchcock and suggests the forensic obsessions of latter-day crime thrillers, The Vanishing completely rejects the need for a mystery. Or rather, the rest of the film dispels that mystery––with painstaking banality. In turn, it becomes a bisected critique of two egomaniacs united by an irrational obsession in opposite directions. One viewing that obsession as a tangible delusion and the other debilitated by their inability to know. Our conversation begins with a discussion about the film as a manifestation of an extreme, heretofore unimaginable absence, but that's an entry point into larger ideas about “The Missing Girl” cinematic tradition, the nature of coincidence, and of course, that infamous ending. Lees meer: Is the world's oldest tree growing in a ravine in Chile? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The standards of energy efficiency and the construction of houses and structures have changed significantly. In fact, the company was a pioneer, led by a group of innovators, including Doug Steege. Steege joined IAQIQ host Tyler Kern and RenewAire VP of Sales and Marketing Nick Agopian to talk about his Passive House compliant home. Agopian, excited to hear from Steege, said, “He's an inspiration. He had a vision to trailblaze into an area no one else was. He started a revolution.”Steege always had a passion for energy efficiency. Before starting RenewAire, he was the housing technology coordinator for Wisconsin, attempting to build efficient buildings and make them airtight. However, airtight meant vapor and pollutants remained. “I heard about a ventilation and heat recovery product. So, I sent away for blueprints and built an air heat exchanger, putting in the first home we built.”Steege then described what a Passive House is. “It gets its name from free energy from the sun. Solar radiation is trapped, and thermal mass in the house moderates the heat build-up to store energy. Shading features also reduce the overheating.”A Passive House, built airtight, is energy-efficient. With such a tight envelope, there is the risk of having poor inside air quality because everything is sealed into the space. To prevent this, every Passive House should have an energy recovery ventilator (ERV), which dilutes the pollution and balances ventilation. The construction of his current home included those of a Passive House. In addition to solar energy, the shell of the home needed substantial insulation. “Our values in the walls are R30, and the roof is R100,” Steege explained. The home included more Passive House elements, such as windows with the most airtight sealing, triple glazed, and with low conductivity edge seals. Insulated window coverings were installed, and the exterior doors were triple gasket seals with an R-value of 18.Additionally, sealing all leaks in the home during the construction phase was necessary. The other elements included the ventilation system and electric solar panels. “We have enough panels to be off-grid,” Steege added. Agopian added, “Sealing the envelope is critical. Uncontrolled air coming in impacts thermal comfort and energy efficiency. If you have uncontrolled ventilation, that can be problematic to health, as well, which is why Doug installed a RenewAire ERV in his home and why they're essential for a Passive Home.”
