We are to a favorite comic of Ross' the return from the dead of Lightning Lad. It's a comic that blew mind when I read it in the 80s. I really cement Legion as a true favorite comic. A classic from Weisinger, Hamilton and Forte.
And we're back! Sexy Thor returns with a vengeance with previews for Summerslam and Pro Wrestling Turbo's Bring The Noise event with some usual banter and podcast exclusive section with Sexy Thor and Lightning Lad sounding off after Turbo's 4th anniversary event back in May and we even have thoughts from the offspring of Lightning Lad! That's a can't miss discussion right there. In case you heard rumors of the Thunderverse's demise, let me reassure you: as long as the storm still rages, the thunder will always be heard. #thunderverse #SexyThor4UUDD #SexyThor4Elite Squad Special thanks to James Moser of The Fall Horsemen for the DOPE new logo. Stalk him(and the rest of the Horsemen, including Spooky Thor/Hollywood Thor/whatever) on the socials, search thefallhorsemen on Facebook and Twitter and just fallhorsemen on Instagram and of course the YouTube channel to see all our faces. Find Ring Of Thunder on YouTube and major podcatchers if you must. I'll stick with audio I SUPPOSE until I decide on a whim to move to video only.
Lightning Lad is back from the dead? How can this be? Is this some future Zombie Apocalypse? Another Legion mystery to unravel. Ross really enjoyed this little tale from the Silver Age, Adventure Comics 308, The Return of Lightning Lad
In possibly one of the most off topic pre WrestleMania shows, Sexy Thor goes on about *some* of WrestleMania on the eve of the weekend of the Showcase of the Immortals while also wondering if an Undisputed name is undisputedly their name or is it kinda disputed? Sexy Thor gets sucked back into the whirlpool of WWE 2K22 with Showcase Mode and muses back on the Pro Wrestling Turbo show from the previous weekend "A Brew Hope". All this while fighting stupid changing weather sinuses. But when you get rambling plus adversity, it can only equal Thunderverse. And the MAIN EVENT!!!! As promised, Round 2 of Sexy Thor and Lightning Lad's Truth Or Dab because crossover appeal. #thunderverse #SexyThor4UUDD #SexyThor4EliteSquad Ring Of Thunder socials Facebook/Twitter/Instagram: ringofthunder ringofthunderpodcast@gmail.com Thunder Talk socials Facebook/Twitter/Instagram: thundertalkpod thundertalkpodcast@gmail.com https://thundertalk.org

In this episode of The Legion Clubhouse, Jimmy Olsen has girl troubles, and the Time Trapper is finally unmasked... or is he? Show your thanks to Major Spoilers for this episode by becoming a Major Spoilers Patron. It will help ensure The Major Spoilers Podcast continues far into the future! Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #76 Elastic Lad Jimmy and His Legion Romances! April 1964 w: Jerry Siegel a: John Forte Having invited Lucy Lane over for a date, Jimmy tries his best to try to impress her in hope that she will like him more. However, everything turns out to be uninteresting and dull compared to her other suitors. When Jimmy attempts to show her the exploits of the Legion of Super-Heroes with the aid of the time monitor they gave him, their date is interrupted by the arrival of Ultra-Boy and Sun-Boy who have come to ask for Jimmy's help on a mission in the 30th Century. Jimmy agrees to go and tells Lucy to stay and watch him in action on the time monitor, hoping this is the ticket he needs to get her to like him. In the future, Jimmy is left with Saturn Girl, Triplicate Girl, and Light Lass who tell him that he has to be active with the Legion at least twice a year, and so they give him a replica of his Elastic Lad costume and serum so that he can assist them in transporting a priceless Venusian idol to the Astro Museum. Along the way, Jimmy not only has to deal with disasters, wild animals, and criminals, but also the romantic advances of the three female Legion members. After their mission is over, the three girls fight over Jimmy's affections until he is picked up by Ultra-Boy and Sun-Boy who return Jimmy to his own time. With Jimmy gone the girls drop their charade, having staged the whole thing, knowing that Lucy Lane would be watching on the time monitor, in hopes that their advances on Jimmy would make her jealous enough to treat him better. When Jimmy returns to his own time, he finds that Lucy had fallen asleep, and demands a taxi home after listening to Jimmy's "wild story". Watching this through their own time monitor in the 30th Century, the Legion girls are disappointed with the outcome of their little charade. - via DC Wikia Adventure Comics #321 The Code of the Legion! June 1964 w: Edmond Hamilton a: John Forte When the Legion intruder alarm goes off, it turns out to be Bouncing Boy, who has just lost his powers due to an accidental exposure to a ray being developed by Element Lad. Instead of expelling him, the Legion decides to keep Bouncing Boy on as a reserve member of the Legion. Later the Legion is visited by Commissioner Wilson who has heard of a secret weapon the Legion has developed called the Concentrator. It's a device so devastating, the Legion refuses to tell anyone it's secret. The Commissioner decides to test the Legion's ability to keep this secret by putting each Legion member through a test designed to put them up against the most lethal attack possible, in an attempt to coerce the secret out of them. All the Legion members pass except for Lightning Lad who tells the Commissioner the secret. As punishment, Lightning Lad is to be imprisoned. However, Lightning Lad confides in his fellow Legionnaires that the information he told the Commissioner was false, and the if the Commissioner was an impostor he would soon be flushed out. Sure enough, the "Commissioner" turns out to be the Time Trapper, and when he realizes the deception he returns behind the Iron Curtain of Time once more. After his defeat, the Legion rescue the real Commander and vow to stop the Time Trapper once and for all. Later, the Legion meets up with their now powerless member Bouncing Boy who introduces them to his new girlfriend, who turns out to be just as fat as he used to be. - via DC Wikia

February 1964 w: Edmond Hamilton a: John Forte While the Legion of Super-Heroes attempts to figure out what the Time Trapper is up too, they find opposition in the way of a barrier protecting the future era in which he resides, keeping the Legion from monitoring his activities. In the meantime, the Legion induct a new member, Dream Girl, who is voted in because all of the male members of the Legion become instantly attracted to her and vote her into the Legion. Things start to get suspicious, as Dream Girl ends up entrapping various Legion members on disciplinary actions, leading to their temporary suspension from the Legion. After taking Ultra-Boy, Bouncing Boy, Shrinking Violet, Lightning Lad, and Lightning Lass to an alien world which causes them to de-age into infants (except for Dream Girl who took a preventative antidote) most of the Legion is on suspension. However, Dream Girl later reveals to Star Boy, that her power is to see the future through dreams, and the reason she has manipulated events is because she forsaw the Legion being killed in a rocket explosion, and that she did everything she could to prevent the Legion members from dieing. Star Boy then reveals to Dream Girl that what she saw was really a planned rocket flight with robot doubles of the Legion. Afterwards, all is explained and Dream Girl decides to leave the Legion to hone her powers, but not before seeing the other Legion members -- restored to their natural ages -- and learning that the episode gave Lightning Lass new powers over density, Dream Girl rechristens her Light Lass. - via DC Wikia LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES: THE SILVER AGE OMNIBUS Originally introduced in 1958, the Legion of Super-Heroes is a team of super-powered teenagers from the disparate worlds of the 30th century's United Planets. October 1963 w: Jerry Siegel a: Curt Swan "Jimmy is taking part in a televised showcase of has many adventures, focusing particularly on the formula that turns him into Elastic Lad, and his various other transformations over the years. His special is suddenly interrupted by an alien creature calling itself the Collector who kidnaps Jimmy with it's scientific devices. Jimmy finds himself transported to an alien world where the Collector hopes to make a collection of all the various incarnations of Jimmy Olsen. Before the Collector can do anything else Jimmy suddenly pulls the microphone that's been attached to him since the TV interview, and throws it at the Collector scaring the creature, thus proving to Jimmy that it's a ruse. Rooting Jimmy to the group (by literally turning his feet into tree roots) the Collector keeps Superman at bay as well and apparently brings forth the giant monster Jimmy, the wolfman Jimmy, porcupine Jimmy and fat Jimmy before the real Jimmy. These alternate versions of him terrorize him before they themselves are rooted into the ground. Before the Collector can do anything else Jimmy suddenly pulls the microphone that's been attached to him since the TV interview, and throws it at the Collector scaring the creature, thus proving to Jimmy that it's a ruse. Jimmy had deduced that the "Collector" is really Mon-El in disguise (due to his reaction to the microphone which was made with some lead parts which used to be a weakness for Mon-El) and that the other "Jimmy's" are really other members of the Legion of Super-Heroes (who are revealed to be Colossal Boy, Chameleon Boy and his new pet Proty II, Cosmic Boy, and Bouncing Boy.) Jimmy learns that this was all planned by the Legion and Superman as an initiation for Jimmy, who is taken to the 30th Century where he is awarded an honorary membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes." - via DC Wikia Adventure Comics #315 The Legionnaires' Super-Contest! December 1963 w: Edmond Hamilton a: John Forte "While the Legion of Super-Heroes is attending a law enforcement convention, the Legion the Substitute Heroes fills in for them while they are absent. The Substitutes save a rocket from crashing, their deed is seen by Superboy's x-ray vision. With their existence revealed to the Legion of Super-Heroes, the Legion recognizes them as rejected Legion applicants and the Legion decides to give them another opportunity to apply for membership. Each Substitute is sent on a different mission with various members of the Legion of Super-Heroes, and use their talents to help solve each mission. Returning from their missions, each Substitute member has their performance graded. Stone Boy ends up getting the highest score and is offered membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes, however, enjoying his membership in the Substitutes, Stone Boy declines membership to remain with his friends in the Legion of Substitute Heroes." - via DC Wikia LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES: THE SILVER AGE OMNIBUS Originally introduced in 1958, the Legion of Super-Heroes is a team of super-powered teenagers from the disparate worlds of the 30th century's United Planets. Afterward, Superboy suddenly snaps again and is about to throw Krypto into space along the path of a Kryptonite meteor, however he snaps out of it again. Before Superboy can learn the source of his uncharacteristic behavior, he receives a call from the Legion of Super-Heroes. Going to the designated meeting place, Superboy meets with Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, and Lightning Lad who have come to Earth to get Superboy's aid updating their records of which Kryptonian criminals had been banished to the Phantom Zone before Krypton's destruction. As Superboy is showing the Legion, Mon-El suddenly appears and warns Superboy that the Legion plans on betraying him and freeing the Phantom Zone criminals. The Legion members then suddenly blast Superboy with special Kryptonite rings that incapacitate the boy of Steel. It's revealed that the Legion are under the control of the Brain Globes of Rambat, who seek to conquer the Earth, but saw Superboy as their only obstacle. There she is told by Fred Danvers that the sheriff is about to blow up the tree stump which hides the secret exit to their home which Supergirl uses to leave unseen. Supergirl rushes off to prevent the entrance from being seen. Returning home once more she gets a signal from the Legion of Super-Heroes to visit them in the 30th Century. At first she wonders why the Legion called her because they all appear to be busy doing other things, however she strangely finds them at the Legion's headquarters. The Legion quickly have her board their ship to go out into space to stop the Positive Man. Supergirl succeeds in doing so by attracting a negative creature from space to cause the two to explode. Returning to Earth, the Legion members find that their super-powers no longer work, and in order to avoid a crime spree, Supergirl with the help of Whizzy (the future descendant of her super-cat Streaky) help make it appear as though the Legion still has their super-powers by helping them out behind the scenes. However, this is all a trick, and the "Legion" members are really members of the Chameleon men, alien shape changers who are posing as the Legion. With Supergirl's guard down, they use a Phantom Zone projector to shunt both Supergirl and Whizzy into the Phantom Zone. Using Whizzy's telepathic abilities, they gain the aid of the owner of an android factory they had saved earlier to send in an android resembling the Chameleon Men to enter the Legion base and free Supergirl and Whizzy. With Superboy defeated, and not considering the Legion members as a threat, the Brain Globes free the Legion and prepare for their conquest. Realizing that the globes had no effect on Krypto prompt the Legion to travel through time and collect Comet the Super-horse, Streaky the Super-cat, and Beppo the Super-monkey to form the Legion of Super-Pets. With the aid of the Super-Pets, the Legion of Super-Heroes are able to defeat the Brain Globes and force them to abandon their goals of conquest. With the globes defeated, the Super-Pets return to their respective eras and Saturn Girl revives Superboy and informs him that she cannot tell him how they defeated the Brain Globes. She then sends Superboy to destroy the device the Brain Globes intended to use to move the Earth. Afterward, Superboy returns home to inform his family what came over him that day and his plan to clear things up with the authorities as well. - via DC Wikia Action Comics #287 Supergirl's Greatest Challenge April 1962 w: Jerry Siegel a: Jim Mooney After spending time at her friend Margie's house where her Superman fan-club has Lois Lane over as a guest visitor, Supergirl (as Linda Lee Danvers) returns home. Supergirl then quickly defeats the Chameleon Men, trapping them in a transparent dome, and freeing the other Legion members. After she says goodbye to the Legion and Whizzy and returns to her own time and relates to the story to Streaky. - via DC Wikia

Petty are joined by their good-friend and fellow ATA podcaster, Woo S! Kim! Going deep into the trailer, the team discuss what they enjoyed including the fact that Superman actually throws a punch, General Zod's "I will find him!", Amy Adams' Lois Lane, Russel Crowe's Jor-El, Hans Zimmer's score, and the comic book influences including Superman: Birthright, Superman: Secret Origin, Superman: Earth One, All-Star Superman, Superman: Red Son, and John Byrne's The Man of Steel origin! And of course, to compliment our Superman-themed episode of DC Nation, we cover Smallville Season 11's "Argo" - Part 2, where we talk about Skeets, CorTessa, Brainiac 5's powers, Lightning Lad, and of course more Clark Kent as we see him in the future of the 31st century!
