The soprano Marina Rebeka and her husband, the sound engineer Edgardo Vertanessian, founded their record label, Prima Classic in 2018, and in the years since have built up an impressive catalogue. To coincide with the release of their latest project, Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, recorded live in Naples, they talk to Gramophone's James Jolly about what inspired them to create the label and how they approach developing their catalogue.  This podcast was made in association with Prima Classic, and all the music included in the podcast comes fom the Prima Classic catalogue. Hace unos días se supo que el actual gobierno suspendió el funcionamiento de la llamada Oficina de la ANII. Una medida pretendida desde hace tiempo por un amplio arco de actores institucionales, sociales y políticos. Incluso, había sido reclamada por la dirección de la propia fuerza política en el gobierno. En estos días la discusión está escalando. Ya dirigentes de la oposición afirman —a pesar de lo descrito más arriba— que “el gobierno confunde lo político con lo comercial, lo privado y lo académico”. La que confundió lo académico con lo político fue la administración pasada, llevando a que nuestra principal agencia de promoción científico-tecnológica quedara entrampada en la discusión geopolítica". ¿A quién pertenece esta afirmación? A Edgardo Rubianes, doctor en Biología que fue director de la Agencia Nacional de Investigación e Innovación (ANII) entre los años 2007 y 2011. Rubianes escribió en la diaria una columna a propósito de esta discusión que ha quedado planteada en los últimos días. El gobierno del presidente Yamandú Orsi decidió congelar el acuerdo entre la ANII y la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén que preveía la cooperación académica y la instalación de una Oficina de Innovación de Uruguay en suelo israelí. Según lo que informó el canciller, Mario Lubetkin, la resolución se tomó debido a la situación que se está dando en Medio Oriente, en particular las acciones de Israel en la Franja de Gaza. Aunque Lubetkin aclaró que no se trata de una cancelación del convenio sino un impasse, la noticia disparó una fuerte polémica. Tanto la embajada de Israel en Montevideo, como el comité central israelita y dirigentes políticos blancos, colorados y del Partido Independiente se manifestaron contrarios a la medida. Además, se anunció desde las bancadas blancas y coloradas la citación del ministro de Relaciones Exteriores a comisiones del Parlamento.
