Really Interesting Women - the PodcastEpisode 125Dr Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli AMIt's hard to briefly describe Maria's bio - but it goes a long way explaining it by understanding she is from a Southern Italian poor, migrant, working class background which instilled in her a resistance to systemic injustice. She has been an academic, author, activist and ally in the issues and intersections of cultural diversity, gender and sexual diversity, relationship and family diversity for over 30 years....and it was a really insightful discussion which was based on a lifetime's experience and an academic understanding. But it was never laced with anger or contempt or masked with utter disappointment and there were no accusations of inaction by those that could change things. Rather, it was a discussion to help others understand the effect a lack of diversity and acceptance can have. And how to fix that. By way of example, there is a lot written and said about 'safe environments' - and although I think I know what that means, when I asked her what an 'unsafe environment' looks like...I acquired a much better understanding. Maria is regularly called upon to act as a consultant in educational, workplace, youth services, health services and community service settings. Maria is also regularly invited to speak at diverse community, educational, organisational and other functions and conferences, and in various media such as television, radio and newspaper. It's Halloween night. Dan Pallotta talks with us about the conversation he ignited with his 2013 TED Talk about the way nonprofit organizations are funded. “We want the nonprofit sector to solve huge problems. We want the nonprofit sector to be able to dream gigantic dreams,” he says. However, there are still many problems with how nonprofits are evaluated and how people and other entities choose to fund them. “I would say that that conversation is where gay marriage was in… about 1945. We have a long way to go.”Pallotta's new feature-length documentary UnCharitable, featuring stories from figures like Edward Norton and Darren Walker, exposes the dark side of philanthropy with a call to action for a radical new way of giving.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

One of The Morning Drive's favorites, Val Pallotta, was a guest Friday to talk about Josh's House for veterans suffering from PTSD.
Skwigly.com presents Animation One-To-Ones featuring Ben Mitchell in conversation with Academy Award®-nominee Richard Linklater, director, writer and producer of the Netflix film 'Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood' as well as co-producer and Head of Animation Tommy Pallotta. The film, presented in a uniquely elaborate 2D animation style that combines rotoscoping with traditional processes (brought to life by the talents of Submarine and Minnow Mountain), stars Jack Black as a man fondly narrating memories of his youth in Houston, Texas during the summer of 1969 in the lead-up to the moon landing, interweaving the enormity of mankind's great leap and the fantasies it conjures in his young mind with comparatively mundane yet equally entertaining snapshots that celebrate the simple joys of family life and Americana. The story draws upon the personal memories of Richard himself, whose films include Slacker, Dazed and Confused, the decades-spanning Before trilogy and Boyhood as well as Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly, both of which implemented their own variations on the rotoscoping technique, owed to his ongoing collaboration with Tommy and their shared passion for implementing animation as a valid and powerful storytelling method. Having dropped on Netflix last Spring to much enthusiasm and positive reviews, the film is presently in contention for the 2023 Best Animated Feature Academy Award, following an initial struggle to be deemed eligible, a battle won that will hopefully set a new precedent for future editions of the ceremony and the industry at large. Produced and presented by Ben Mitchell
The founder of "Josh's House" for veterans was a guest Monday on The Morning Drive on WVMT.
Join Caitlin, Ira, and special guest Tommy Pallotta as they discuss the evolution of rotoscoping in modern filmmaking. As an award winning producer and director of animation, Tommy's influence on the art form is instantly recognizable thanks to his work on Richard Linklater's Waking Life, A Scanner Darkly, Apollo 10 1/2, as well as the Amazon Prime series Undone. We talk about his career and the role of rotoscoping in the world of animation. On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, during President Barack Obama's terms in office Democrats lost over 1000 seats in elected office. Either of the Obama's campaigning for Democrats will not change the trajectory of this election. Then, this program is concerned with the election denial displayed by a majority of Democrats with respect to the election of every Republican president for the past two decades. Later, President Biden and Democrats have weakened our country from within by weakening our military. China's army is twice as big but lacks combat experience. Afterward, it's easier to get an abortion than baby formula. Yet Stacy Abrams argues that children are the reason for high gas cost worries and therefore the answer to inflation is abortion. Afterward, New Jersey Republican Candidate Frank Pallotta joins the show to discuss his campaign against Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05). Pallotta noted that his opponent says one thing in the district and votes opposite to that in Washington, DC. Learn more about your ad choices.
