We explore our Gospel today through the lens of its protagonist, St. Joseph. Though the text is filled with details about Jesus and Mary, several of those details can in fact fill out our perception of Jesus' father. We discover, for example, that St. Joseph, though a humble carpenter, is rightful heir to the throne of David and that, for example, his plan to divorce Mary quietly could have placed his own reputation in danger. These and other details paint a portrait for us of a man who is unabashedly faithful to God and completely in love with his wife and son.

Rethinking Chastity? Why it means more than what most think

Dominic and Paul reflect on how they have previously understood chastity and how so often this virtue has been reduced to just mechanistic sexual morality. Drawing from the teaching of Pope Francis, they discuss how chastity is meant to govern all of our relationships. They explore what it means to chastely love our children, our friends, and our business partners. Dominic and Paul also touch on how religious communities and leaders can love unchastely by manipulating others through fear and shame. "Chastity is freedom from possessiveness in every sphere of one's life. Only when love is chaste, is it truly love. A possessive love ultimately becomes dangerous: it imprisons, constricts and makes for misery. God himself loved humanity with a chaste love; he left us free even to go astray and set ourselves against him. The logic of love is always the logic of freedom, and Joseph knew how to love with extraordinary freedom" (Pope Francis, Patris Corde). https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/apost_letters/documents/papa-francesco-lettera-ap_20201208_patris-corde.html SUBSCRIBE or JOIN THE COMMUNITY: popefrancisgeneration.com ABOUT POPE FRANCIS GENERATION Pope Francis Generation is the show for Catholics struggling with the Church's teaching, who feel like they might not belong in the Church anymore, and who still hunger for a God of love and goodness. No entanto Deus Pai é nosso modelo. THE SLAYER OF DEMONS!...okay, that may not be a title given to St. Joseph, but it was a slip of the tongue by James and just maybe it will be added to his litany one day.For those of you who do not know, this is the year of St. Joseph as declared by Pope Francis!  This day and age is especially trying for families and most glaringly men. Turn to St. Joseph, the patron saint of our beautiful Church. St. Joseph is a man who was chosen by God to lead the Holy Family. He loved his wife and son more than anyone and his actions literally spoke volumes. There is now Josephology happening in our age! Some fun facts for you men about this incredible man:He is the patron saint of our beloved Catholic Church, unborn children, fathers, workers, travelers, immigrants, and a happy death.Feast Day: March 19thSt. Joseph the Worker: May 1st, to counter the Communists' May Day by Pope Pius XII Month of March is dedicated to St. JosephWednesday (yes, every Wednesday!) is dedicated to him as well. For a man who wasn't venerated deeply in the Church until the 15th century, we are certainly trying to catch up! In this episode, James and Fr. Dom will dive into all things St. Joseph, this incredible man who was truly a man of silence. The Gospels don't record a single word of this man's life but his actions have been written about for centuries. A man who gets spoken to four times by angels is a man we all must emulate and listen to. Since he didn't say a word, we must follow his actions.  Join us to find out why St. Joseph was depicted as an old man in early Catholic art, why James thinks St. Joseph should have a title added to his litany, how much St. Joseph loved our beloved mother, why St. Joseph was probably a young, strapping man and what the Gospels say in regards to this fact, and how we can take St. Joseph's faith and pray to him for it! Father Dom's Challenge: Think before you act and speak. Ask the Holy Spirit to enter in the simple moments of your life (or even the chaotic times) to direct your words and actions to fulfill His will.

Tinagurian din siyang Saint of Divine Providence. Mga kapanalig, ngayong ipinagdiriwang natin ang Labor Day, ma-realize nawa natin that we don't have to do great things in order to be great, greatness can be found in ordinariness. O San Jose, Manggagawa, ipanalangin mo kami. Amen. – Sr. Lines Salazar, fsp (Daughters of St. Paul)
