I rarely get a chance to stretch my after-hours musical muscles. I've probably played about 10 GUAPO PV events in Puerto Vallarta over the past 5 years but haven't yet posted one of my sets from here in Mexico. This one, however, felt special. (full disclosure: last year's NYE set didn't record due to a technical glitch)… but this set is me at my best… I am very proud of it. I put a lot of thought into all of my sets, especially for the JUICY and DEEP parties I've played in PV the last two years and I'm so excited to share this 3 hr+ one with the world. It's mostly a tech house set and the energy I got from the crowd all night was unparalleled. I saw so many wonderful friends out there all night as I looked around. If there was a main theme for the night's journey, it was my trademark sound of going “a little bit old school”... l always love sharing classics with the younger generation. You'll hear tracks (some, the originals… others, updates) like David Bowie's “Let's Dance” and Danny Tenaglia's “Elements” (both in my Intro), Honey Dijon's update of Kevin Aviance's “Cunty,” Technotronic's “Pump Up The Jam,” Alesso's new update on “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” by Yes, Size 9's “I Am Ready,” my PV update that I've played the past few years of Sweet Pussy Pauline's “Work This Pussy,” Butch's “No Worries,” Submission's “Women Beat Their Men,” Basement Jaxx's “Fly Life,” two versions mixed together of Shakedown's “At Night,” Peter Rauhofer's classic “Miracle” Mix” of Mariah's “We Belong Together,” (a remix I only save for very special occasions) - samples of Aretha, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Alanis Morissette, Natasha Bedingfield, Vicki Sue Robinson, Kiss - and two songs from The Beatles (I'll let “which two” be a surprise as you listen). There are more classics sprinkled throughout, as well as 5 or 6 of my own remixes or private edits.Another theme on this journey was “loneliness” - a feeling I battled hard in 2024, as so many of us have - and that many DJ friends of mine struggle with. This set is a reminder that music can always be there to carry us through and that none of us is truly ever alone. As the sun was rising from 7:30-8am, I switched gears to deliver a little magic for everyone who stayed ‘til the end. I ended my set (well, the 2nd to last song) with a new little edit I whipped up over the past two weeks of “Defying Gravity.” (which I'm still tinkering around with)... and the crowd reaction truly was everything I'd hoped for in that morning moment. Thank you to the entire GUAPO PV team for having me back again. Thank you to DJ Autogyro for starting the night with an amazing opening set. I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy this set for years to come. Please share it on social or leave a Comment if you do. I took the second half of 2024 off from DJing, (due to other life commitments) But I'm coming back strong in 2025. I'm now working with Javier Simons at Koq Agency for bookings. https://koqagency.com/ … and here's where you can hear me in the coming months!Jan 17th/18th - Aspen Gay Ski Week (Limelight apres skis)Jan 19th - The Chapel at the Abbey, West HollywoodFeb 1st - The Cuff Complex, SeattleFeb 15th - Afterglow, X Bar, Denver March 13th - Elevation gay ski week, Mammoth
A promising brand shut its doors this week, and its founder claimed that a confluence of factors led to its demise. Taste Radio's hosts, however, wonder if the company's problems stemmed from a single simple issue. They also riff on the ubiquity of “brat summer,” toss Twinkies and pop bottles of the NA variety. Show notes: 0:35: Pump Up The Jam. Dude Dad x Rizzberry. Kelp Burgers. Pasta Snacks, Pt. 3. Cuppa Projo. – Jacqui reveals her pre-banter routine, Ray breaks out an unexpected and mysterious snack that Mike starts to throw at everyone, and John turns to ChatGPT for some assistance. The hosts also discuss Akua's decision to cease operations and whether its kelp-centric portfolio had a viable path to mainstream retail, before they sip on bubbly libations and snack on pasta-based puffs. Brands in this episode: Twinkies, Little Saints, Akua, Actual Veggies, Impossible Foods, Seacherones, Eat The Change, Just Ice Tea, Oddbird, Ghia, S'Noods, Penne Straws, Goya, Lottie's Meats, Loisa, Tantos, Saga, Lapo's, Projo

Dear Midnighters,As dawn breaks this Wednesday, I'm excited to share Episode #092 of The Midnight Project. This week's journey through sound is not just another episode; it's a testament to the transformative power of techno, featuring tracks that each tell a story, evoke an emotion, and transport us to another dimension.Diving into the heart of this episode, let's highlight a unique bootleg that stands out for its ingenuity and connection to the roots of electronic music: "Pump Up The Jam." This track is a masterful reinterpretation of Technotronic's iconic anthem by the legendary UMEK. UMEK bridges generations of dance music by infusing the classic with a fresh techno twist, offering us a version as compelling on today's dance floors as the original was in the late '80s. It's a reminder of the enduring power of a great track and the creativity that thrives within the techno scene. In addition to UMEK's stellar contribution, we explored "Rotten 2.0" by Oliver Huntemann, a journey through dark, driving beats, and "Power Of The Sultan" by Joaquín Dassie, a unique blend of traditional sounds and modern techno. I will not forget to mention a piece from my heart, "Madrid" – a track that captures the essence of vibrant nightlife and emotional depth, released on Redesign Records. This episode is a vibrant showcase of the talent and diversity within the techno community. From the depths of Huntemann's complex textures to Dassie's cultural fusion and the innovative bridge between past and present by UMEK, each track is a chapter in the larger story of techno.I encourage you to immerse yourself in the experience, let the music guide your week, and remember to explore each track further on 1001 Tracklists. Don't forget to subscribe to The Midnight Project to stay on this journey with us, week after week.Until we meet again in sound, let the rhythm be your guide.Warmest regards,Sebastiaan Hooft

Moderation: Alex Hüfner & Martin Gertz Produktion: Good Guys Entertainment

Composer and producer Hannah Peel and pianist Keelan Carew consider the soundtrack for one of the most famous scenes in cinema, and they take us to Venice where Visconti famously used a celebrated atmospheric Mahler composition for one of his films. Cerys Matthews and Jeffrey Boakye also bring us a track by one of the most successful pop acts of all time as they add five more tracks to the playlist. Producer Jerome Weatherald Presented, with music direction, by Cerys Matthews and Jeffrey Boakye The five tracks in this week's playlist: Pump Up The Jam by Technotronic The Murder by Bernard Herrmann Symphony No.5; IV Adagietto by Gustav Mahler Crazy in Love by Beyoncé (ft Jay-Z) Don't Give Up On Us by David Soul Other music in this episode: The Four Seasons: Summer by Antonio Vivaldi, played by Nigel Kennedy Spring in Buenos Aires (for piano), by Ástor Piazzolla, played by the Zürcher Klaviertrio Quadrophonia by Quadrophonia Good Life by Inner City Aquamarine by Lone Move Your Body by Marshall Jefferson Symphony No.10 in E Minor: Allegro by Dmitri Shostakovich Are You My Woman (Tell Me So) by the Chi-Lites Love on Top by Beyoncé
This episode is all about medbeds. So what is a medbed? Well, first of all it isn't a bed, so let's just get that out of the way right now. It's possibly an MLM scheme, or maybe it's a bucket, but sometimes it's a mobile phone app that takes a picture of your bed, which may or may not prevent and cure all diseases. Do you have any questions? Great, so do we. In fact, this episode is mostly us asking questions. This week, The F Plus learns the true meaning of Technotronic's Pump Up The Jam.
Another day, another discussion about the progress of AI and its magnificent maladies. Zea catches us up with her review of last week's film, and the gang gets into Gibbs' pick of The Wailing, a 2016 Korean horror film about a man... a family... a stranger?... and baaaaaad things happening... This week has Kim, Andrew, and Kevin back in the saddle. The show kicks off with some idle chit chat, discussing video games and their potential television adaptations following the success of The Last of Us. Next up the gang digs into some sci-fi chat and Kevin and Andrew preach the gospel of Battlestar Galactica to Kim. This leads to a deeper dive into slow burn shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. The Kevin switches gears and talks about the new sitcom Animal Control on Fox. Andrew then gives his semi-spoilery review of Scream VI. He gives it a fairly glowing review but it's so scary that Kim has to leave. Ok, she actually has parental duties, but saying she was scared works better here, so we can pretend. After Kim exits for better prospects, Kevin and Andrew take advantage and FINALLY get into season 3 of Picard. We're at episode 4 already so they've been chomping at the bit to discuss. Their review is overwhelmingly positive, so if you haven't watched yet, get on it! As has been the case for the last several weeks, the episode finished on a The Last of Us discussion. This week, the guys cover the penultimate episode of season 1. Much like Picard, they loved this one, too. As Kevin predicted last week, folks were not ready for this episode and he was 100% correct!! As a bonus, after the credits roll on Episode 137, Kevin and Andrew have a spirited discussion about Attack on Titan. Kevin is officially a convert and they talk is very deep, exploring all of the subtle intricacies of the show up to this point. If you have watched or are interesting watching, this conversation is for you! As always, thank you for watching. We had a lot of fun this week so we hope that comes across the inter webs here. Don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't and share on all of your social platforms, even if your friends have. Spread us around like delicious peanut butter!! Enjoy the episode and have a great week!!

In 1996 NBA superstar Michael Jordan teamed up with the animated rascals from Looney Tunes to take on the Mon-Stars in a basketball game with intergalactic stakes. With the likes of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Bill Murray the Toon Squad was victorious. But more than 20 years later Warner Bros still hasn't delivered a Space Jame sequel.LeBron James is said to be cooking up a follow-up film, but with time running out on the clock, the SequelQuest crew are stepping in with our MVP (Most Valuable Podcaster) Eric to pitch our ideas for a Space Jam 2.Will it be a team-up with the cinematic heroes of DC Comics blockbuster films for Looney League of Justice? Will it be a zany modern day retelling of the classic opera Falstaff? Or will the Toon Squad hit the court again with the 21st century stars of the NBA like Steph Curry and James Harden to stop a crooked international gambling operation?Get ready to Pump Up The Jam and listen to our Space Jam 2 episode now!Stream our SequelQuest Back Catalogue from the links below or find the show on the NEW TRN Feed on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, Podbean, SoundCloud and more.SequelQuest Back Catalogue:NEW! Robbert-Jan vd Plas is a Dutch dj from Katwijk aan zee born in 1980. At the age of 9 he received his first 2 vinyls. Turn Up The Bass 1 and 2. It was the year 1989. First track he listened to was Pump Up The Jam, after the first beats he was hooked. Since then he was always listening to fresh new beats. In 1993 he decided to save the little money that he could get to buy the records that he liked and try to mix them. Starting with 1 turntable (Without pitch) and 1 cd player. 1 year later he visited his first houseparty (Nightmare in Rotterdam) and then he knew it, he wanted to be an dj. So from then on he bought more and more vinyl and at 14 got his first residency at a local youghtcentre. For 3 years he was the hardest dj there and from all over the village the young boys and girls came to dance on his Hardcore beats After that 3 years he stopped his residency and got his first gig at the HOUSE in SCUM party's in Katwijk and when he was around 20 years old he they asked him to be a resident at the party's once a month. He continued that untill 2011 when he was 31 years old. In between he played at a lot of small clubs and small party's in the whole of the Netherlands and a few in Begium and Germany also. Still only as an Amateur. In this period he also spinned at some local radioshows and even got an invite to play at the Old School Generation on Radio Fresh FM hosted by dj Norman where spinned some an vinyl Old School set. Also been a resident at D.O.T.F. radio. An internet old school radiostation where the rules are "Fuck Hokjes" so there will be mostly spinned underground old school records. Other residents of the show are dj Sneaky-d (founder of the staion), Jeff London, dj Vince an dj Stylo. Unfortunaly the show stopped after 10 years. Since 2011 things where running a bit slower due of the birth of his daughter Yara in november 2011, his son Finley in September 2013 and daughter Jaxy in februari 2015. Hey stopped with Scum in 2011 after an 11 year recidency. Bookings went down and he didn't preformed a lot after that. Few small party's like the Early Ravers United party's. Biggest gigs since then where Fucking Basterds in Culemburg in 2012 and Vinyl Syndrome V · Limita'd Edition Moscou Russia in 2016. Nowdays due of Facebook Groups and Facebook Live more and more sets are being braodcasted around the web. He has done 4 shows on Hard Shock radio Italy, mostly Early Hardcore. And multiple shows on Toxic Sickness since 2018. This was all as HAMdj and in the styles Hardcore, Early Hardcore, Hardstyle and Old School. 2018 he started a Podcast serie with a friend (dj Exomni) called The Dark Chronicles in courtesy of Annihilation. The Dark Chronicles offers mixes in the Harder Mainstream, Millenium, Crossbreed, Industrial and Doomcore. (No Uptemo or Terror!!) Brought by a variety of fine artists. But after discovering the Dark Techno at the end of 2018 he created this alter ego Viktor Gambon. And started a sideshow podcast called the Dark Techno Sessions. So pretty new to the Techno scene he is mixing this with his own vision. Not excluding anything. So influences from the Rave, Acid or Classic scene. Expect no limits or boundaries in his sets. They will go up and down but you never know when and where it will end! In curtesy of Toxic Sickness he, togheter with his good friend Denny Spek aka Spek FM, will create a new show called Classics, Techno, Rave & Bits. Where they will combine multiple styles and try to create an Dark Atmosfear in each set. Not refusing any style. But mostly it will be Slow and Dark. Social info. 1990 was a year for Wings, Home Alone, and MC Hammer. Oh, and some people headed down the Atlanta Highway to the Love Shack.
In this episode of the podcast I talk to Belgian Tech House Don NightFunk about his very DIY approach to music... Self-taught, Self-released and forging his way into the upper tier of the global house circuit via his releases and as soon as this pandemic is over tour gigs too I'm sure! The list of labels he has or is just about to release on is eye-watering including Patrick Toppings Trick imprint, Solid Grooves, Cr2 and Jacky & Friends to name a few... We talk about that massive Beatport number 1, Pump Up The Jam and the story behind it! Dennis is very talented and humble individual and his story is nothing but inspirational and motivational. The Kid and I are back yet again for another horror movie. This time we've watched 2010's horror comedy Tucker and Dale vs. Evil! Give this a listen! Intro music is Technotronic's Pump Up The Jam. Outro music is Mass Undergoe's I Dug My Grave. Both of the songs appeared in the film. I do not own the licenses to the music.
