Please note, this podcast does not contain any reference to the news surrounding Shaun Lane that broke this afternoon after we finished recording. Sixties and myself will comment on the matter soon but in the mean time we simply wish Shaun the best in his time away from the game and ask fans to respect his decision. The traditional Easter Monday clash with the Wests Tigers has arrived and there are some bizarre inverse relationships between the Eels and their rivals this week. While the Tigers are traveling smoother than the Eels, they have dropped their star half Lachlan Galvin in controversial circumstances. The Eels meanwhile finally welcome back the heart and soul of the the team in Mitchell Moses while Jack Williams gives the team a double boost. Sixties and Forty20 run through all of the action on the long weekend starting with the Jersey Flegg on Saturday and running right through to the non-double-header action on Monday between the NSW Cup and NRL. Can the Eels snag a crucial win ahead of their bye? How much does Moses elevate this roster? One way or another some big questions will be answered on Monday.
The quality of care and government oversight in personal care homes came under heavy fire last week. We welcome the president of the Personal Care Home Owners Association of NL - who's also owner/operator of three of those homes - to the On The Go studio to hear how those businesses are absorbing the contents of that disturbing report. (Krissy Holmes with Shaun Lane)
All eyes will be on CommBank Stadium on Sunday to see whether the Parramatta Eels can bounce back from their ugly Round 1 loss to the Melbourne Storm. Sixties and Forty20 break down the changes made by Jason Ryles as the Eels new coach looks to set the standard early in the season. Rookie Jordan Samrani will make his debut on the right wing while Gideon Kautoga makes his club debut and Shaun Lane returns from injury to start in the backrow. The show also previews Round 2 of the Jersey Flegg as the Eels look to consolidate on a 20-point victory over the Silktails last week. The NSW Cup play their first game of the season after a first up bye and feature a truckload of seasoned NRL players in the forward pack. The boys walk through all three games on the weekend and how Parramatta can secure wins in each grade.
The Parramatta Eels have had a rough start to the 2025 season, suffering a poor loss against the Storm last week and this week losing their star five-eighth Dylan Brown after he signed a monster deal with the Knights. Eels second-rower Shaun Lane (50:00) chats to Andrew Moore and the team about the announcement, returning from injury and how he manages his mental health.
We have our first NRL team list of the year and boy howdy does The Tip Sheet know it as Sixties and Forty20 have the podcast bursting at the seams this week - and that is even with the show returning to its usual three-a-week format. There is just that much to talk about this week including important shout outs for members of the Parramatta Leagues Club to vote for special resolutions as well a Sunday exhibition game at Ringrose Park good friends of TCT in the Physical Disability Rugby League. The big news though is undoubtedly the hugely anticipated debut team list from Jason Ryles as the Parramatta Eels travel up the freeway to take on the Newcastle Knights on Friday. Ryles delivered big time with a cracking blend of youth and experience with the Parramatta's commander-in-chief giving plenty of prospects a chance to shine this week. The boys share who they are looking forward to seeing most and what to expet from the Eels in their opening hit out of the year. Other news from Parradise includes a new heritage jersy, the weekend wrap up from the Junior Representatives and a quartet of our NRLW stars turning out in the All-Stars game this week. In the NRL there is plenty of action with the aforementioned All-Stars games headlining a full week of preseason action. Sixties and Forty20 share their tips for the game and their most anticipated match-ups in the general NRL contests. Christian Welch has been forced into medical retirement after a series of back and leg injuries. The show pays tribute to the Melbourne Storm bookend and his successful career. From there the show turns up the heat as the boys fire up on two fronts. Firstly is the continued discussion from the plans to trial a retroactive sin-binning protocol for high tackles. Parramatta's Shaun Lane weighed in to the matter this week and provided greater insight into what players are concerned with. Secondly is the expected return of the National Youth Competition which in turn has dragged back the tiring discourse about the need (or massive lack thereof) for a NRL draft.

Could the Eels bolster their backline in the early exchanges of 2024? The Tip Sheet explores a developing story surrounding Parramatta's supposed interest in Zac Lomax as Sixties, Forty20 and Clint look at how a potential deal could get done and what it might take. Brad Arthur has named an unchanged team to take on the Panthers in Round 2 as the show looks at all the news out of Team List Tuesday. Bryce Cartwright's scorching start to the season is turning heads - how high can his star rise this year? The boys go on to discuss Shaun Lane's documentary and the positive messages to come from it. The Spencer Leniu racism saga comes to a head with the NRL handing down an 8-game suspension for the slur used against Ezra Mam. Was the penalty sufficient? Is it now the precedent moving forwards? Jai Arrow's season hangs in the balance with a rotator cuff injury potentially sidelining him for a month or the entire season. Where does that leave Souths? Tom Gilbert's recovery from an ACL tear has been postponed following the discovery of a bloodclot in his lung. The show wraps up with a media rumour that proposes a frenzied transfer of forwards between the Cowboys, Dolphins, Storm and Tigers and a look at the bumper crowd turnouts in Round 1.

It wasn't so much a game of two halves as a game of two edges as the North Queensland Cowboys eviscerated a dysfunctional Parramatta left edge. By contrast Bryce Cartwright and Will Penisini lit up the second half down the right side of the field but it proved to be barely too little too late. Sixties and Forty20 jump into a tough instant reaction podcast as they dissect a costly first half. Injury was added to insult as well as Shaun Lane rounded out a nightmare season of injuries with a brutal elbow dislocation to go with a broken jaw and a torn hamstring. Valiant efforts from Clinton Gutherson, Bryce Cartwright and Will Penisini not only mitigated a potentially ugly hit to the team's points differential but somehow put the Eels into an unlikely position to win the game. The boys look at how much more time Parramatta needed to get over the line and whether they made the right call to not take a shot at goal in the closing exchanges of the game.

Moses, Gutherson and Campbell-Gillard will all back up from Origin while Shaun Lane returns to the starting backrow. It is the strongest line up the Eels can name until Round 23 but the Titans possess plenty of strike power. It will be take a focused effort through the middle to win on Sunday but Parramatta have the squad to get it done.

Sixties and Forty20 react to Parramatta's comfortable 36-14 victory over the Newcastle Knights. The Eels were able to outlast a spirited opening effort from the Novocastrians as the class of Mitchell Moses and energy of J'maine Hopgood reigned supreme. While the Eels will have some polishing to do on account of two relatively soft tries leaked it was an injury to Shaun Lane that soured the victory. A suspected fracture to his jaw or cheekbone would leave the dynamic backrower sidelined for up to two months.

There is no offseason in the NRL and a massive week of news means Sixties, Forty20 and Spiro are on the case in a new episode of The Tip Sheet. Spiro gets the chance to close the books of the 2022 seasons for our NRL and NRLW squads before we dive in a full on review of the Ken Thornett Medal. A host of deserved award winners are looked at before the best male and female players are crowned and Sixties and Spiro recap a wonderful night throughout. The trio look at breaking signings news for the Eels with Shaun Lane making his rumoured extension official. Lane is joined by Sean Russell and Jake Arthur who also extended their stay at the club while Jack Murchie officially dons the Blue & Gold for the next two years. Good news for Parramatta is offset by drama for the Cowboys and Warriors with Luciano Leilua and Josh Curran landing themselves in potentially serious trouble. The Dragons have 90% of their NRL team no-show their awards presentation so the boys ask whether it was simply poor scheduling or if fractures between players and management are growing? From there the show looks at changes to junior rugby league before discussing Ryan Matterson's moral stand on the Match Review Committee and a flurry of big nrl signings and re-signings.

Pat & Heals are joined by NRL Legend The 'WIZ' Gary Freeman who played for both the Eels & Panthers as the 'WIZ' is torn between both sides as he thinks the Grand Finals will "come down to the wire and be closer than everyone thinks." Plus The 'WIZ' believes Shaun Lane & Regan Campbell-Gillard are the men to pressure Cleary.
The biggest week in three and a half decades is well and truly underway for the Parramatta Eels as they prepare for a brace of Grand Finals in the NRL and NRLW. Spiro joins The Tip Sheet in the midst of a whirlwind week of his own to look back at the milestone victories over the Cowboys and Roosters on the weekend. He, alongside Sixties and Forty20 then cast their eyes forwards to the monster Sunday as both glory and an incredibly unique slice of rugby league history lie for the taking. There is plenty else to talk about of course including the mad scramble for tickets fans had to endure on Monday morning. The Dally Ms take place tonight so the boys take their punts on which Eels will feature while Shaun Lane is set to lock in for a further three years at the club.
Vossy and Brandy are back for the Thursday Show on a public holiday as we head towards a huge weekend of Sport and we got the latest ahead of the two NRL Preliminary Finals and the AFL Grand Final. Ramy Haidar Interview
The Tip Sheet is back with another installment of NRL news as Sixties, Forty20 and Spiro breakdown Round 24 of the premiership race. It all starts on the Eels as Parra look to time their run into the finals. They built on a dominant win over the Bulldogs with an even more impressive thumping of the Broncos. The boys look at the blazing star of Shaun Lane as Parramatta's key backrower draws bigger and more impressive plaudits with each passing game. The spiteful clash between the Roosters and Storm draws ire for a poor showing from the Match Review Committee. Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Cameron Munster escaped bans for downright dastardly behavior and the boys are having none of it. The Broncos, Sea Eagles, Knights and Titans have all seen the wheels fall off their respective wagons and The Tip Sheet tries to figure out why. From Brisbane's horrid response to a deserved spray from their coach to Manly's cultural implosion, who did it best or rather worst? The show concludes with a discussion around resting players in Round 25 and a potential mammoth deal for young gun Joseph Suaalii from rugby union.
Parramatta has sent a warning to the competition

Tim Williams Interview
The Tip Sheet is live from Jacks Bar & Grill as the Parramatta Eels bounce back from the shock loss to Canterbury with a high quality victory over the Sydney Roosters. Sixties and Forty20 analyse the 26-16 win, breaking down a fluent and flowing first half and a grittier and tougher second half. On a night where the forwards were the difference, the boys discuss who was the best. Junior Paulo took the official man of the match gong whereas Sixties leaned to Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Forty20 to Shaun Lane. The win lifts the Eels back into a share of 4th place on the ladder but there is still plenty of work to be done in the coming weeks and months.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia," but only slightly less well-known is this: Never go in against the Eels when a streak is on the line! A fortnight can be forever in the realms of professional sports, particularly in rugby league. This time two weeks ago the Eels were reeling out of a catastrophic loss to the Manly Sea Eagles and the pundits were piling it on thick and heavy. Would they win another game this year? Who should be the new head coach? Should they just tear it all down and rebuild again? A stunning 22-10 victory over the Melbourne Storm on a night layered with history has completely changed the script and Sixties and Forty20 and practically bouncing off the walls to break this one down. Missing Reed Mahoney, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Ryan Matterson and Maika Sivo coming into the contest and then losing Shaun Lane, Marata Niukore and Clinton Gutherson through the game, the Parramatta Eels had no right to win this. And yet they did. The Eels fanned the sparks of victory over the Cowboys into a raging inferno that saw them physically dominate the game's premier club in a nigh unseen manner. In claiming the win, Parramatta brought an end to Melbourne's historic 19-game winning streak while simultaneously ending their 30-game streak in Queensland while ALSO achieving a rare 2-game set sweep in the regulation season over Craig Bellamy. There is PLENTY to talk about this week so tune in and join the conversation as the boys coming in off the back fence.
The Parramatta Eels posted their biggest win over the Newcastle Knights in well over a decade with a 40-4 obliteration that lifted the Eels back into 3rd on the ladder. Sunday's emphatic victory is fresh on the minds of Sixties and Forty20 as they tear into an instant reaction edition of The Tip Sheet. The duo take turns breaking down the win and start with the feedback from change made by Brad Arthur. Haze Dunster looked solid on the right wing and nabbed the first try of his NRL career. Although the Knights weren't able to test Parramatta's edges to the extent that the Sea Eagles and Rabbitohs did, the new look backline did exactly what was tasked of it against the Novocastrians. Dylan Brown made a statement return from suspension while Shaun Lane dominated from the bench. The individual player wraps are extensive this week as the boys go through the list of who stood out. It wasn't all great news for the Blue & Gold with question marks over the fitness of Mitchell Moses and Reed Mahoney coming out of the win. All this and more in this week's instant reaction podcast!
The boys were joined by Shaun Lane, Steve Jackson & Brett Phillips
