Freaky February continues as we do an episode of one of our very favourite podcasts, and in fact, the first podcast John ever listened to, Stop Podcasting Yourself! We are very pleased to be joined by one of SPY's own hosts, Dave Shumka, as we discuss "Mean Girls: The Musical", the time that Yahoo! hired Snow (yes, the Canadian white rapper Snow) to do its hold music, and John working out too hard and being unable to move for a week. Plus, we dive into your Overheards and Overseens and don't worry, when BP does SPY...it IS that kind of show. If you want more of this kind of show, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every dang month! This week, Raft rejoins the show for our first-ever mailbag with them, and it was, predictably, a real delight. Plus, we couldn't just let Sweeps Month go by without doing something special, so next week, our Cameo series, "Word Up!" makes its triumphant return to the bonus feed. We also have ad-free episodes, merch discounts, and much more, so head on over there and support the show today! Dave Shumka is one of the two hosts of Stop Podcasting Yourself, which is available wherever you get your podcasts. You can also hear his work as a producer as part of the "Let's Make A..." series and "This Sounds Serious". You can follow him on Twitter at @daveshumka. Can you feel it, listener? I can. I can feel it. The warm, sultry breeze of our impending Succotash hiatus is gently wafting around the next bend in our feed. I'm your every-other-weekly-host Marc Hershon and welcome to Episode 352, which I'm calling “Last Clips Before Hiatus” because, well, it's our second-to-last episode before we take a break BUT the last one in which we'll be featuring clips. I'll tell you more about what our LAST show before jump the tracks is going to be like toward this end of this blog entry but, for now, let's share this time together as just another in the long lines of Succotash episodes where we feature clips from other comedy soundcasts across the internet.   Before I get to what I have in store for you, let's recall what Epi351, Tyson Saner's final solo hosting episode before the break, was like last week. His was the first episode to officially enter our 12th year of soundcasting. We started in April of 2011 so Tyson got the glory and the honor of being the first of us to break the tape on year 12 with “The Penultimate Pre-Hiatus Show”, which featured clips from comedy soundcasts Holidays After Dark, What Went Wrong, and Bit Weird But Fair Enough (I Guess). Tyson wrapped up that episode with a very sincere thanks and farewell for now and I think you'll get a great deal out of listening to that installment of the show.   As for me, I'm intending to go out with this show as it was originally conceived: By featuring a collection of clips from soundcasts that we've not featured before. Sure, we've occasionally dipped back into the same pool now and again to feature some faves – but our overall design and intent has been to bring you what's fresh and new, at least our ears and quite possibly yours. Bearing that in mind, I have clips from Literally with Rob Lowe, a new sitcom soundcast called Popcorn For Dinner, and a show from across the Pond in England – a well-regarded standby there called Always Be Comedy. Since this will be our last opportunity to do so for awhile, I'm going to feature an audio essay from comedian and friend of the show Dan St. Paul, from his Slices blog, entitled “Slave to the Machines”.   This lovely cavalcade of clippage is brought to you, as always, by Henderson's Pants and their new Bottoms Up Cargo Pants, a recent introduction designed by our own announcer, Bill Heywatt, for that discriminating boozehound on the go.   As I said, toward the end of this episode I let you know what's in store for the final-final episode next week, as well as a few wrap-up thoughts from my brain and my heart as we hit our 12th year anniversary.   CLIPS   Literally with Rob Lowe Is there more of a consummate celebrity in the entertainment world today than Rob Lowe? He's an actor who has created an indelible brand for and of himself, he's never really had any controversy around him, and he's basically a Hollywood homegrown talent who's been around since he was a kid. A few yeas ago he started popping up as a guest on a number of soundcasts and it wasn't long until he pulled the cloak off of Literally, the show he hosts every week, mostly talking to friends that he pulls right out of his own cell phone. He recently talk with Levar Burton, famous for playing Geordi LaForge on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Before that, he broke through as Kunta Kinte, a young slave on the Roots miniseries. And he talks a bit about both those experiences in this clip.   Popcorn For Dinner This next entry is brand new. It's only been out for about 8 or 9 weeks at this point, which means its first season is coming to a close and you can binge it. Because it's one of the first full-on soundcast situation comedies that I've heard. Popcorn for Dinner is, first of all, produced by one of my favorite production outfits on the planet, which is Kelly&Kelly out of Vancouver, Canada. We've featured other shows from them before, including This Sounds Serious and Dexter Guff is Smarter Than You. This new offering is largely written and created by comedian Maddy Kelly – no relation to Pat Kelly or Chris Kelly, who ARE related, but maybe it helps to have them set a show up if your last name IS Kelly. It features former Nickelodean star Ciara Bravo as the narrator, and stars Maddy Kelly, Charlie Foster, Jillian Ebanks and Ben Fawcett as four friends in their early 20s as they try to make it on their own, despite the fact that none of them know what that looks like...at all. It's got all the tropes that make classic sitcoms identifiable including a laugh track. It's meta, it's corny, it's funny and – after I listened to the first three episodes, I was pretty much hooked. The clip I have for you is from Episode 6 and I picked the very opening of the show so you can easily pick up on the vibe – they have the opening teaser scene, the set-up for the episode and your get to hear what the main characters each sound like.     Always Be Comedy I'm not sure how long Always Be Comedy has been cranking out episode in Britain but, given their list of guests, it's been going awhile. Hosted by comics James Gill and Tim Lewis, they invite other comedians in to chat and to curate their dream gig – o talk about all the elements that they would bring together to make a dynamite boffo show. This clip doesn't quite get to that part of the hosts' chat with guest, England comedy legend Stewart Lee, which is well worth strapping in for given his experience. Instead, Stewart waxes on a bit about some of his contemporary veteran comedians.   Dan St. Paul: Slave to the Machines Which brings us to the end of our featured clips this week and right up to the doorstep of comedian and friend of the show Dan St. Paul. He's been writing these humorous essays for his “Slices” blog on Substack for a while now, and I had him record a few and then added some music and effects to them. That was impetus enough for Dan to turn to his pal Jimmy Goings and really get into producing them. Here's his latest, entitled “Slave to the Machines”.   That is going to do it for this final solo episode before our Succotash hiatus begins. As I teased at the top of the show, I can let you know that next week, for our 12th Anniversary Show, Tyson Saner and I will be joining forces to celebrate the blessed event. Joining us will be longtime friend of the show who we first met in Episode 36 back in the Fall of 2012, Travis Clark. We'll look back and reminisce not just about Succotash but also about soundcasting and how far it come since we first fired up the mics in 2011. That's next week, in this very same feed, so don't miss it!   As for me, I am sometime startled to wake up and discover this Succotash thing has been going as long as it has. I've made a lot of friends, literally around the globe, through the network of soundcasters out there. I think one of the things that we'll do as we sail into our 12th year is that I may just have to stop beating the drum to call these things soundcasts instead of podcasts. We gave it a valiant effort. I don't think anyone would deny us that. We'll see.   I have to thank Joe Paulino, first and foremost, which helped me breathe life into this concept through the auspices of Studio P, his “home of the hit” in Sausalito, California. And for introducing us to Bill Heywatt, our erstwhile and often tanked booth announcer. Scott Carvey, one of Dana Carvey's brothers, created our theme music from me sending him a jazz tune I liked and doing his own interpretation of the concept so we could have some music free and clear. Kenny Durgis is our booth assistant who, frankly doesn't do much more than complain but we gotta acknowledge the little guy.   More than anyone connected to the show, my heartfelt and deep gratitude goes to Tyson Saner, who went from contributing a few odd clips now and again to becoming the show's Associate Producer to full-blown host, slipping into the Big Chair for several years while it stepped into the background as Executive Producer and got to take a big breather.   I would be remiss if I didn't thank my wife, the lovely and talented Debra Hershon. While she's never spent a moment hanging around this show, if not for her support and giving me the space to create and shave time off of our personal time – sometimes on while on vacation and sometimes even urging me to head to LA or shows in San Francisco so I could get interviews and such, this show certainly wouldn't have happened.   Finally, of course, there's you. Our listener. Whether this is the very first time you've filled your ears with Succotash or if you've been with us for every one of the 352 episodes we've dropped, this has always been intended for you. As a wayfinding tool to help you hack through the soundcast wilderness to find fun, new shows to listen to. And whether it was from those heady early days when we actually would show up on the front page of Apple's downloads or, more often bouncing along with just blips on the download radar, we know that you've been out there putting up with our audio shenanigans. So thank you, thank you, thank you.   We'll be here next year with that 12th anniversary show. And then Tyson, Bill, Joe, and I are going to take a little break. Catch our breaths and figure out how and when we'll return. This show maybe exactly like you hear it today. Or we may change up the format and try some different things. Hang in there and we'll let you know what's what.   And in the meantime, if in the next week or so you have someone tap you on the shoulder while you're working out in the gym and they ask what you're listening to on your earbuds, won't you please pass the Succotash?   — Marc Hershon

Hello, listener. Glad you're here! I am Marc Hershon, as stated so eloquently for our booth announcer, Bill Heywatt, here to present Episode 295 of Succotash, THE Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Before I get into what's in store this week, did you happen to catch last week's Epi294 with my punctual and well-read co-host Tyson Saner? He brought the heat, with clips from a trio of shows, including Wheel of Randy - A Randy Newman podcast, Podcast Killed the Video Star, and The Hollywood Experience. If you missed it run, don't walk, to download or stream it from any of the wonderful distribution points on the World Wide Web, including Apple & Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Amazon Music, YouTube, Soundcloud, Audible and many others, including our own homesite, SuccotashShow.com, where you're find a blog entry for every show we've done for the past 10 years and 11 months with clickable links to the shows and the social media accounts for the hosts and many of the guests. I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the international clown fiesta that Vladimir Putin is orchestrating on the people of Ukraine. There's not much that we, as the hosts of a comedy soundcast can do to actively help the situation. But we do stand in support of the people and country of Ukraine and, just as we're no longer distributing Succotash via that streaming service that Neil Young doesn't like, we also will not feature clips from any comedy soundcasts produced in Russia. It's not much but it's what we've got to offer. All right. Enough of that. Let me take your mind off the troubles of the day with the distraction of a quartet of soundcast clips that we have never featured before: Comedy Gold Minds with Kevin Hart, Hypochondriactor, The Extramundane with Max West, and a brand new offering on the podwaves entitled Let's Make A Sci-Fi. We're also brought to you this week, as usual, by Henderson's Pants and their Scavenger Slax! But that's not all, as they used to say on the Ginsu Knife and Ronco Pocket Fisherman ads on TV. I'm introducing a new “thing” on the show this week. San Francisco-based comedian Dan St. Paul, a friend of the show whose work we featured back in Episode 211, started a blog a while back during the pandemic lockdown called Slices. He writes up these funny essays and thought pieces about the absurdities of life. I've been suggesting he think about recording them and get them out there somehow and then it hit me: “Hey!  I have a soundcast! A comedy soundcast! Dan could play them on our show!” So Dan cut his first one this week and we added in some music and some sound effects along the way. It's called, “The No Tube Alternative”, the first entry into the audio realm from Dan. St. Paul's Slices blog. You can read that one, and more than three dozen more at https://danstpaul.substack.com/. You can also follow him @DanStPaul on Twitter. Let me know what you thought – drop a note to m-a-r-c@SuccotashShow.com or hit me up @SuccotashShow on Twitter or Instagram. I think we're going to work up another one by the next time I'm back with Epi 297. And – this is confidential so don't spread it around – but Dan is in talks with Succotash Patch Productions to possibly release his own soundcast based on his Slices essays. CLIPS Comedy Gold MinesI don't think it's my imagination that Kevin Hart seems to be everywhere these days. He's got a series on Netflix called True Story, he's developing a hip-hop animated project for HBO Max, he was even in a Super Bowl commercial. His soundcast, Comedy Gold Minds, has been going for a while now, where he deep dives into the brains of well-known comics to find out what makes them tick. I clipped his chat with David Spade from a few weeks back, from a part of the convo where they get into what getting started on the standup stage was like. Let's Make A Sci-FiFans and friends of Succotash know that I am a nut for any soundcasts that come out of the funny factory that is Kelly&Kelly Productions. This Sounds Serious, Dexter Guff is Smarter Than You, and just scads of other crazy satirical stuff they pump out is all comedy gold. (Flip back to Succotash Epi221 for my chat with Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring, two of the main brains behind those shows, to learn more about how the humor sausage is made…) Now they are presenting Let's Make a Sci-Fi, and this is a show that's different than a lot of their mocku-style products. It's the 8-part adventure of three comedy writers - Ryan Beil, Maddy Kelly, and Mark Chavez – and their earnest attempt to write a pilot episode for a serious science fiction TV or streaming series. Here's a snippet from their first episode, where the three writers are spitballing ideas for what the core of the show might be about. HypochondriactorActor Sean Hayes, who you know from TV's Will & Grace, and from soundcasting's Smartless, is a bit of a hypochondriac and has parleyed his groundless fears and obsession with maladies into a soundcast that he co-hosts with Dr. Priyanka Wali, a legit doctor and comedian, to delve into the sick side of life. In what has to be considered a pretty good “get” for a soundcast guest, Sean pulls in pal Robert Downey, Jr. for last week's episode. They talk about a lot of stuff in just under an hour: Downey's penchant for Wing Chun Kung Fu, his thoughts on Iron Man's final words in Avengers: End Game, and his “Cat Scratch Fever”. You'll have to grab the download for a couple of those topics, but our clip does start to get into the whole Kung Fu thing. The Extramundane with Max WardIf you like creepy, cryptid-based, spooky soundcasts…you'll have to look further than The Extramundane with Max Ward. Why? Because it's a spoof of those kinds of shows. A bit in the vein of My Neighbors Are Dead, this show rips the veil away from the supernatural to reveal, well, like the title says, the extramundane. Host Max Ward is voiced by Dan Kozuh, a writer of fictional non-fiction for places like McSweeney's, The Hard Times, Infinite Worlds, and others. Our clip comes from Episode 6 – The Woman Who Raised Bigfoot, where Max tracks down and interviews, uh, the woman, L. Melacetti (Nicole Kemper), who raised Bigfoot. Or A bigfoot, who was left on her porch as a baby in 1964. Well, friend, there it is, then. Episode 295 is stocked, cocked and locked. I don't know if that's actually a thing. I DO know that my cohort in soundcasts, Tyson Saner, will be right here in this very feed next week host episode 296. So close to Epi300 that we can TASTE it! And next month is this show's ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY in soundcasting. Some folks said it couldn't be done. A lot more folks said, “What's the show called again?”, followed immediately by, “How the hell do you spell Succotash?” Just remember S-U-C-C-O, the “sucko” part, and you'll be able to Google the crap out of us. Thanks once again to Dan St. Paul for letting us try out one of the Slices from his blog. We're hoping to try out another one next time I'm here, in Episode 297. Until you deign to hit us up again, won't you please keep yourself and those around you as healthy as you can, brush after every meal, be nice to each other and the next time you're buzzed by a low-flying cropduster and the pilot yells down to you, “Have you heard anything good lately?”, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Marc Hershon

Welcome, welcome, welcome! I’m Marc Hershon, your host for THIS episode 221 of Succotash Shut-In: The Soundcast Stimulus Package, entitled, “Guestin’ it Up with Pat Kelly & Peter Oldring”. More on our special guests in a moment. Hopefully you caught our previous installment, Epi220, “Harvestin’ Early Fall Comedy Clips”, with my alternating co-host Tyson Saner. He featured clips from The Whaley Family Hour, You're Dead To Me, and 2 Bears 1 Cave with Tom Segura & Bert Kreischer. If you missed it, it’s not too late to catch it over on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, the Laughable app, and our very own homesite: SuccotashShow.com. Now last time I was hosting, episode before last, #219, I played a clip from This Sounds Serious. It’s a true crime soundcast spoof of the first order, now in it’s third season. And I mentioned that I might be able to get the brains behind that bundle of comedy magnificence on this show. They have done been got, friend, and I am pleased to tell you that I have Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring as my special guests for this installment. I’m very excited. We’ll get into a lot of the stuff these guys have been doing and making funny since they were in high school. One of the shows they’ve done that makes me laugh hard is Dexter Guff is Smarter Than You…And You Can, Too. It’s a great send-up of motivational business dorks and Peter Oldring really nailed Dexter out of the gate. So I feature one of Dexter's patented "Thought Releases" before we get into the interview. The interview runs about 45 minutes and we dig into some of the great techniques they've mastered when it comes to nailing certain tropes, cadences, and deliveries with their on-the-money spoofs. One of the first bits that caught my attention was Pat in this video from their This Is That program they've been doing for years in Vancouver. This episode of Succotash is brought to you by our regular sponsors, Hendersons Pants - featuring their new Fancy Pants for Fops, and Trumpoetry.com. If there are other soundcasts you’d like us to track down the hosts of and have them on the show, tweet or insta at us @SuccotashShow or call our tollful warmline at (818) 921-7212 and let us know. We’ll figure out how to tag ‘em, bag ‘em, and drag them in front of the Succotash Shut-In microphones. Remember that my compadre Tyson Saner will be back on this very feed starting this upcoming Tuesday with a brand new episode filled with fun. Or at least some more comedy soundcast clips. And you can supply your own fun. Until then, please remember to wash your hands, wear a mask – yes, a mask…I’m talking to you – and please, pass the Succotash. — Marc Hershon

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I'm your every-other-epi host for the show which is Succotash Shut-In: The Soundcast Stimulus Package. Last week, Marc Hershon had the helm and brought you clips from 4 "True Crime" soundcasts. As you are reading this you no doubt notice that the words "True Crime" were in quotation marks in that previous sentence…as were the most recent use of those words a few seconds ago… but for different reasons. I use quotes because, although the soundcasts he clipped were "True Crime Themed" (See? Quotes again!), they were in fact all soundcasts that parodied "True Crime" as a genre and "True Crime soundcasts" as a genre…of soundcasts. They were "A Very Fatal Murder", "Done Disappeared", "My Neighbors Are Dead", and "This Sounds Serious" …and I urge you to check out that episode for a taste of all of those. It's episode 219. But THIS is Episode 220 and I've got clips for you for this episode. The clips I've selected for you are from The Whaley Family Hour, You're Dead To Me, and 2 Bears 1 Cave with Tom Segura & Bert Kreischer. I've also got special advertisements from both of our fake sponsors, "Henderson's Pants" and "TrumPoetry.com" as per usual… and we here at Succotash are still on the lookout for a real sponsor just in case any are listening. And away we go! CLIPS The Whaley Family HourSpend way less than an hour with Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction, Marvel's Luke Cage, Field of Dreams) and Heather Whaley, author of Eat Your Feelings: Recipes for Self-Loathing as they huddle through the pandemic in a closet. OUr clip is from their debut epi back in March entitled "Is This Thing On?" You're Dead To MeTouted as, "The history podcast for people who don't like history… and those who do." Greg Jenner brings together the best names in comedy and history to learn and laugh about the past. Our snipped clip is from February 28th of this year, and is called "Mary Shelley", mostly because host Jenner is joined by literary expert Dr. Corin Throsby and comedian Lauren Pattison to explore the often turbulent life of literary icon Mary Shelley. 2 Bears 1 Cave with Tom Segura & Bert KreischerEvery week, comedian best friends Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer get together in the bear cave at YMH Studios to do what bears do: make each other laugh. Our featured clip is from the very recently dropped epi from August 31st, 2020. During this episode, Tom and Bert discuss Tom getting drunk over the weekend. Bert then shares what his weekend was like, and why he got kicked out of someone's house. They discuss their want to hire a private investigator to be on retainer, their old nicknames, and guys who wear cologne. Tom wraps up the show by sharing a video of him singing to his son. WRAP-UP I hope you enjoy this sampling of soundcasts during your extended period of home-dwelling…or any time, really. I hope this show encourages you to find out more about the world of soundcasting from the various sources that you can use to find their shows and, of course, more episodes of our show. We appreciate your listening. If you are listening to us thru a service of some type that includes audience participation in the form of a ratings mechanism…we'd surely appreciate that as well. Some of us going thru this time of plague together might have accidentally discovered that they enjoy hearing other people have conversations in a totally-not-illegally-surveilling sort of way due to us here at Succotash and I wonder now where that will take you. Will you be back next week? Will you be on to something else? Will you plumb the depths of our archive at www.succotashshow.com and discover shows that we featured in the last…almost a decade? Will you recommend us to your friends? We'd appreciate it if you did. That's what we mean when we ask you politely to please, pass the Succotash?  — Tyson Saner

How strong is your satire? CONSUME: Two podcasts: "A Very Fatal Murder" and "This Sounds Serious." Both podcasts are a riff on the true crime podcast format. Both use satire. Listen to the first episode of each of those shows, and think about what you learn from each satirical take on true crime. https://radiopublic.com/this-sounds-serious-Wk2kMx/s1!127a3 https://radiopublic.com/a-very-fatal-murder-G2wNv0/s1!44a4f#t=2 CREATE: Choose a person you generally disagree with. Now write a 200-400 word opinion column in that person's voice. Make their argument that thing you disagree with. This week marks the 12th anniversary of Stop Podcasting Yourself. What began as a venue for two Vancouver-based comedians has since become one of the longest running and most beloved comedy shows in the medium. For more than six-hundred weekly episodes, the show has been a remarkable consistent — and hilarious showcase for cohosts Dave Shumka and Graham Clark, along with a rotating cast of established comedians. Shumka’s podcasting bonafides extend beyond SPY, including the one-off musical series, Our Debut Album (cohosted with Clark) and his work on the well-received This Sounds Serious, a takeoff on popular true shows like Serial and Making a Murderer that is currently on its second season. On a recent trip to New York, Shumka joined us to discuss his podcasting career.

“You are not your job title. You are a multi-faceted human” Lizzy Karp is a community activist, connector and ‘baby’ DJ. She spends her days as a Senior Manager at TELUS STORY HIVE and is committed to using story telling as a vehicle for human connection. Matt and Lizzy first connected at ‘Rain City Chronicles’, an event Lizzy cofounded after moving to Vancouver 10 years ago. She had spent alot of time around the music and comedy scenes in Toronto, and had come to realize that she often found people in the audience to be more compelling than the characters on stage. So, in a new city where she knew no one, Lizzy decided to create an experience where everyday people could have the opportunity to share their stories. The goal was to create live story-telling nights that were accessible, inclusive and fun-spirited. “We are all content creators. So that gives us the opportunity to practice visibility. How can we own our story and tell it for people who are watching us, for the people who are listening to this conversation, for the people who need to hear it. That really excites me. On the other hand, when does it become too much? When are we commodifying our own story?” Lizzy reflects with Matt about how people are becoming more critical about who is telling what story, and the importance of reflecting on whose voice isn’t getting heard? And who is getting asked to tell the same story over and over again? Lizzy also helps to produce an annual event called ‘Loaded Bow’ in Palm Springs. ‘Loaded Bow’ is a gathering for self-identified women to come together to learn and to meet one another in a space that is designed for people to truly connect over conversation. It acts as an opportunity for entrepreneurial-spirited women to fill up their soul-points for the rest of the year in an inclusive environment. The program is peer-lead, and removes the conventional hierarchy usually present between speaker and audience, emphasizing the reality that we all have a story to tell and experiences that others can learn from. Saluton, faithful Succotash listeners, 2nd timers and people just trying out the soundcast app on their phone. Is it Google Play? Spotify? Laughable? Some other thing? However you listen I'm grateful to you for it. I'm Tyson Saner and I'll be your host for this clips episode of Succotash the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I've assembled clips from a few soundcasts I've enjoyed recently, including Bad Science, In Poor Taste, Vinyl Emergency, Welcome to Television, Defunctland and This Sounds Serious. We've also got a single shot of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O' Durst segment and a classic Henderson's Pants spot. Ready?  Let's dig in. CLIPS Bad Science The homesite for Bad Science tells us that they are "breaking down the 'bad science' of popular movies with comedians and scientists." Their second-ever epi features Doug Benson talking with two physicists about Back to The Future. The host is Ethan Edenburg from The Cooties. As they say - "Warning: There will be spoilers." So if you haven't yet seen 1984's BTTF, you might want to skip ahead because here's a clippet from Epi 2 of Bad Science. In Poor TasteAs is told in word-stylings on the In Poor Taste homesite, "Eric and Sean meet twice a month in a pod floating down the Monongahela River to record distaste for one person to listen to. Will they get sued, cancelled and generally assaulted? Yes. 25 Minutes of goofs, 5 minutes of commercials, 25 minutes of goofs. We have recurring characters, sketches, segments and guests! Also, new things happen! It's a podcast!" OUr sample for you today is from Epi96, which dropped on April 27th, 2018. Vinyl Emergency Here's a soundcast that is not a comedy soundcast but touches on a subject I can relate to, due to my earliest experiences with comedy being delivered to my ears through the medium of vinyl records.  here was a comedy section of vinyl for rent from "Peoples Records" here in Arcata and it's where I first discovered the joys of Firesign Theatre and Doctor Demento complilation albums...but back to "Vinyl Emergency", the iTunes description says they "sexplore the thrill of records and music in general, whether examining the recent vinyl resurgence or recalling the first albums that changed our lives. Guests range from musicians and industry folks to avid record collectors and close friends, all with captivating, personal stories involving vinyl." Hosted by Jim Hanke, who is a frequent guest vinyl consultant on Chicago's WGN 720AM, as well as a freelance contributor to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Modern-Vinyl.com, Sock Monkey Sound and various other media outlets since 1994. Our clip is from Epi61 where Mr. Hanke interviews Speech of the musical group "Arrested Development". Welcome to Television Longtime listeners may recall the soundcast known as The Angry Chimp.  We played a clip of them back on Epi84, which also featured OG Succotash host-now-executive-producer Marc Hershon, clips of about six soundcasts and an interview with Greg Fitzsimmons. Welcome to Television is a different sort of Soundcast to The Angry Chimp and its iTunes description sums it up this way: "Have you ever been watching TV and thought 'I wonder what three idiots think of this?' Well, you are in luck. Stu, Mick, and Monty take a look at what is happening in TV in Australia and then they speak about that look, hopefully in an entertaining and informative way but more likely in a way that makes you say 'These guys have a show?'" This clip is from their second episode, "Ramjet's Pingas" published on April 26th of 2018. DefunctlandI have a bit of a fascination with amusement park rides and attractions...particularly dark rides and their designs. That's how I stumbled across this collection of audio entertainment. Defunctland has been a soundcast on iTunes since August 14th of 2017 but my first experience with it as a program was as a series of documentary videos on show creator Kevin Perjurer's YouTube Channel. On the show, Kevin and his guests discuss theme park attractions of the past, present, and future. This clip is from Epi5 from October of last year, and features and interview with puppeteer, artist, and former Disney imagineer Terri Hardin, and features part of a longer story about what it was like working on the spectacular attraction from George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola and Michael Jackson: Captain EO, specifically working with the late Jackson. P.S. Kevin's goal is to re-create these defunct attractions in a virtual space, so the public can get an idea of what it was like to experience them. Defunctland was also featured in an article on SyFy.com which you can find linked here. This Sounds Serious This soundcast from Kelly & Kelly is pretty new, from Castbox, an also-new podcast creation company. Are you a fan of the first season of Serial?  Do you enjoy true crime programming, including true crime soundcasts? This is something like that - here is how the iTunes description put it:  "Florida, 2007: A famous local weather man is found dead in his water bed. His brother calls 9-1-1 to report the murder. This sets off a shocking series of events involving cults, boy bands, horses, and mistaken identity. From CastBox and the comedy producers behind Stop Podcasting Yourself, CBC's This Is That, and Dexter Guff comes a story so believable it can't be true." I shouldn't say to much more at this point. Our clip is from the debut episode, entitled "The Call". Well, it's over. Not for good but for now. That clown in the sky has begun to cry his bizarre painted-on tears but I'm pretty sure it's just from coasting downhill on a bicycle without adaquate eye protection. Like goggles. Regular glasses wouldn't cut it and, well, when's the last time you saw a clown wearing glasses? Aside from those ones of me on my Soundcloud and Instagram profiles that is? Never mind. It's a rhetorical question.  The point is I've got no more show for you at the the moment and I'm just stalling for time. I have fun doing this. So for the gang "here" I've been Tyson Saner attempting to bring little bits of the audio parts of the internet to you so that you might perhaps be interested to find these shows on your own. Or ones I haven't discovered yet — and believe me, there are THOUSANDS — I've put that in all caps for emphasis so you know I'm serious. If you've enjoyed the time we've spent here I'm very glad to imagine that,  it means I'm doing my job.  So until next time I'll bid you a fond farewell and , If i could, remind you to have fun in your life when and if you are able. And if you would also remember to please,  pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
