Other theatre credits include Mark Colvin's Kidney, and Gwen in Purgatory (Belvoir St Theatre), Troy's House (SUDS, ATYP), Strangers in Between (Griffin Theatre Company, Trafalgar Studios West End), Blood Wedding (Royal and Derngate Northampton Theatre, UK), and Saturn's Return (Sydney Theatre Company). He created and was the Head Writer and Script Producer for the ABC original television series Significant Others (Fremantle, nominated for the 2023 Logie for Outstanding Drama). Tommy has also written episodes on The Twelve, Bloom, Fighting Season, The Devil's Playground and Offspring. Tommy wrote and was Associate Producer on the feature film Holding The Man (Goalpost Pictures) directed by Neil Armfield. He won the AWGIE Award for Best Writing in a Feature Film and Critics Circle Award for Best Screenplay. Tommy was the recipient of the Patrick White Playwrights Fellowship (2016), and The Writers' Guild and Screen Australia Creators Program in Hollywood (2023). His other notable awards include winner of the 2022 AWGIE Award for Audio Fiction for his radio play Call You Back and winner of the N.S.W. Premier's Literary Awards for Best Play for both Holding The Man and Strangers In Between and the W.A. Premier's Prize for Gwen in Purgatory. Tommy joins Regina to talk about the last two decades in his award winning writing career.  In 2020 Tommy Murphy received the National Theatre Prize from the Australia Council for the Arts. His most recent stage play was Packer & Sons broke box office records at Belvoir. Another recent work, Mark Colvin's Kidney is currently in development for a screen adaptation. Murphy's earlier stage adaptation of Timothy Conigrave's memoirs, Holding The Man, is regularly produced around the world with recent productions in Florence, Chicago, Nashville and London. His screenplay for Holding the Man, for which he was Associate Producer, won the Australian Writers' Guild Award and the Film Critics Circle Award for Best Screenplay. Netflix distributes the film globally. The stage play Holding the Man started at Griffin, directed by Murphy's regular collaborator David Berthold, before transferring multiple times across Australia culminating in a West End production. It won multiple awards including the NSW Premier's Literary Award, the Australian Writers' Guild Award and the Philip Parsons Award. Tommy was the youngest and only dual winner in consecutive years of the NSW Premier's Literary Award, having won for Strangers in Between at Griffin in 2005. Strangers in Between was revived in Melbourne, Sydney and on London's West End in 2018. Tommy's adaptation of Lorca's Blood Wedding formed part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. His play Gwen in Purgatory (Belvoir/La Boite) won the WA Premier's Award and the Richard Burton Prize. His other plays include Troy's House (Old Fitz/ATYP) and an adaptation of Christopher Marlowe's Massacre at Paris (ATYP). He is a graduate of NIDA's directing course, a former president of SUDS, a Patrick White Fellow at Sydney Theatre Company and a Sidney Myer Fellowship recipient. Tommy is the creator of an upcoming ABC TV series, having been on the writing teams for Foxtel's Fighting Season (Goalpost Pictures) and Devil's Playground (winner of the 2015 Logie for Most Outstanding Miniseries and AACTA Award for Best Miniseries).

Nicholas Eadie’s resume boasts an impressive list of high-profile television production that we affectionately embrace as key moments in Australian television consumption. He gained success and fame in Australian television series’ such as Cop Shop, The Henderson Kids, A Country Practice and Medivac.He won The Australian Film Institute's Best Actor in a Mini-Series award in 1987 for Vietnam, in which he co-starred with Nicole Kidman. He played a dashing horseman in The Man From Snowy River 2 and was nominated again for his portrayal of World War II Academy Award-winning cameraman Damien Parer in John Duigan’s Fragments of War, and in 2002 for Halifax f.p.He is the son of ABC radio announcer Mervyn Eadie, and is a graduate of the National Institute of Dramatic Art.Nicholas Eadie has worked with all the major Australian theatre companies with over 45 credits to his name. He has appeared in leading roles in plays as diverse as Tennessee Williams: The Glass Menagerie as The Gentleman Caller and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof as Brick. He has played John Proctor in three separate productions of The Crucible. And partied hard as Don in David Williamson's Don's Party.In Sydney's Botanical Gardens, he performed for three seasons as Oberon/Theseus in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He is currently one of the Philip Parsons Fellows for Belvoir Theatre.Jordan also worked as a producer, in venues such as the Chippen Street Theatre, the King Street Theatre and the Kings Cross Theatre. As a Director, he was responsible for Keating! which opened the Bryan Brown Theatre, Bankstown as part of the Bankstown Arts Festival.His passion for telling stories is palpable, along with an impressive appreciation of theatre history in Australia and abroad. There is no doubting his commitment to the work. Simon Burke was recently cast as Hugo, the drag mentor to the title character in the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jaimie. He has entered an age bracket that finds him playing a succession of paternal roles in The Sound of Music, Catch Me If You Can, La Cage Aux Folles and Tommy Murphy’s Strangers in Between. And for two decades he worked alongside a couple of the most famous bears in the business; Teds, Big and Little. Oh my! All of these are just some of the highlights of a career that continues to be varied and stellar.At the age of 13, Simon Burke landed the role of Tom Allen in Fred Schepsi’s acclaimed feature film The Devil’s Playground. His performance would reward him with the AFI award for Best Actor and the accolade of being the youngest recipient honoured with the award. He would return to The Devil’s Playground 38 years later, reprising the role of Tom and serving the project as co-creator and executive producer. This television series would receive AACTA and Logie Awards.Identifying the moment he walked into an empty theatre and ventured onto the stage - he immediately recognised that this is where he wanted to be.Burke has been in regular work since his early debut. He completed an apprenticeship ‘on-the-job’ with most of the country’s leading actors; early gigs had him working alongside Peter Carroll, Robyn Nevin and Maggie Dence. Tommy Murphy started as a playwright, with a residency at Sydney's Griffin Theatre where he wrote Strangers In Between and Holding The Man, which won the NSW Premiers Literary Award for Best Play two years running.  It was Holding the Man which would divert his career to screenwriting.  After many drafts and years of development, the film was released in 2014 to much acclaim.   Tommy discusses his journey from playwright to screenwriter, the reason his wi-fi doesn't stretch to the room out the back and how he came to write both the stage screen versions of Holding The Man.

On Wednesday August 22nd Midwest Radio presenter Tommy Murphy passed to his eternal reward. On the evening of Monday August 27th we hosted a special tribute in his honour. Many of Tommy's colleagues from the radio and music world joined us live in studio to pay tribute to his many achievements.
