On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by singer/songwriter's Amanda Kate and Riley Braker!AMANDA KATEBorn in a no-stop-light-town in Red River, NM, Amanda Kate Ferris grew up equally inspired by her small-town upbringing and her mother, Kathy Wright, an artist and entertainer herself. As one of the original “Dean Martin Golddiggers” on the 1960's TV show, 18-year-old Kathy often collaborated with The Rat Pack's crooners, embracing the era's glamour. The apple didn't fall far from the tree, and young Amanda was singing as early as two years old. Inspired by her mother's tales of performing on the stage and screen, she developed her own voice in the church. Amanda added songwriting to her repertoire at age 14, looking again to follow in her mother's footsteps as a full-time musician and artist. During her mother's long sets at Honky Tonks between California, New Mexico, and Texas, Amanda fell in love with the music of The Judds, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Leanne Womack, and Brooks & Dunn, all of which heavily influenced her current sound.  Her love of Country music led her to chase her dreams in Nashville. Over the next few years, she went through multiple groups, opportunities, and countless hours spent on her craft in Music City. On the brink of letting these long sought-after dreams go, Amanda decided that she needed a change of pace and settled in with her family. After she and her husband welcomed their first child, Amanda was back on stage, this time performing Carrie Underwood songs in a national touring cover band, Blown Away. Their incredible renditions of Underwood's hits led to an unsolicited and highly coveted spot on Executive Producer Jimmy Fallon's new show for E!, “Clash of the Cover Bands.” Through Underwood's iconic songs, Amanda was able to fulfill her love of entertaining and singing, but she felt a calling to again create her own original music.  The show was a full circle moment for Ferris, appearing on the same network that gave her mother her start over 50 years ago. Off-screen, this allowed Amanda the opportunity to highlight her new original music, simultaneously releasing her self-titled EP to rave reviews, including editorial placement on Spotify's Texas Country Now, the largest Red Dirt Playlist. In early 2022, Ferris' love for traditional Country sparked the interest of renowned producer Jimmy Ritchey (Clay Walker, Mark Chesnutt), with whom she recorded five new tracks reminiscent of the traditional country stylings of Ferris' favorites from the 90s. Look out this fall for “Baby Don't,” Ferris' debut on Texas radio. “Baby Don't” honors her Texas Country roots and showcases her captivating vocals. This lead single will be followed by an EP in early 2023 to reflect upon her western influences and love of Country music history. A cowgirl at heart, she spends any free time riding her horses with her family at Rockin R Ranch in Palmer, TX.  On the road, Amanda has graced the stage with such acts as Tracey Lawrence, Bailey Zimmerman, Deana Carter, Warren Zeiders, Chase Rice, Priscilla Block, Casey Donahew, Josh Abbott Band, and more.  RILEY BRAKERRiley is a gifted singer-songwriter, with a voice tailor made to tell her heartfelt stories of life as a young adult. She crafts her tales of love, woe, and regret, and infuses her characters with so much life, the listener feels as if they are experiencing the events first handy

He's worked with Lee Greenwood, Randy Travis, Mickey Gilley, Lynn Anderson, Jessica Andrews, JoDee Messina, Tracey Lawrence, and many others. Buddy has been recording in Nashville on music row for 30 years as a session piano player, producer, and songwriter. So you can imagine how devastated he was when he was diagnosed with Throat cancer.  His initial doctor was dead set on doing a treatment for his throat that could have ultimately left him without a voice box.  A musician without a voice box was unacceptable for Buddy so he began his search to find alternatives.Buddy was told he had 4 years to live and so he has been determined to actually live for each of those years and truly love every minute of it. Cancer is probably one of the most dreadful words in the dictionary. Yet almost 50 % of us have been or will be faced with the diagnosis. Suddenly you are faced with sifting through a mountain of information to figure out how to survive this dreadful disease for the sake of yourself, your children and grandchildren. Many have decided against the orthodox treatment as the only option, because you've seen friends and family members who contracted cancer and followed their doctor's recommendations, only to die within a year or two suffering the devastating effects of chemo and supposedly pinpointed radiation.Integrative Cancer Solutions was created to instill hope and empowerment. Other people have been where you are right now and have already done the research for you. Listen to their stories and journeys and apply what they learned to achieve similar outcomes as they have, cancer remission and an even more fullness of life than before the diagnosis. Guests will discuss what therapies, supplements, and practitioners they relied on to beat cancer. Once diagnosed, time is of the essence. In this episode, Mark Baratto sits down with singer-songwriter Cliff Cody. We talk about how he went from bouncer to songwriter to give it a shot in Nashville.  With nothing lucrative insight and family life calling, Cliff gave up music and moved to his wife's hometown in Ohio.   After many nights staring at his guitar sitting in the corner, Cliff picked up that 6 string again to give it one more shot, (with a little motivation from his wife), and the rest is now history! More on Cliff Cody Working as a bouncer at a West Texas honky-tonk, Cliff Cody's life changed forever when the waitress dared him to sing at Karaoke Night. Lucky for Cliff, a band was in the audience looking for a lead singer. They offered Cliff the job that night. The next day he bought a guitar, a week later he had written his first song and 6 months after that, he moved to Nashville.   After living in Nashville for 4 years with little success, Cliff went back to school and became an RN. While at a songwriter's retreat in Wyoming, he met his songwriting hero—D. Vincent Williams and he told Cliff something that would change his path. “Whatever “it” is, you've got it and I don't think you even realize it.” That was the encouragement he needed and in 2005 Cliff signed his first publishing contract with EMI/Sony Music. “Chasin Whiskey” was Cliff's first cut and recognized as a highlight of Julie Roberts' album “Men and Mascara” by Rolling Stone Magazine. Cliff's second cut was "Glad You're Gone", a song he co-wrote with the members of Halfway to Hazard David Tolliver and Chad Warrix.  He co-wrote "Gotta Go to Heaven" with artist Josh Thompson and co-wrote the first single on D. Vincent Williams' freshman album, "Down by the River."  Since first playing the Key West Songwriters Festival 12 years ago, Cliff has become a favorite and regular performer in the Keys. He has opened for Dwight Yoakam, Gary Allen, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Phil Vasser, Aaron Lewis, Blackberry Smoke, David Allan Coe, Parmalee, Tracey Lawrence, Travis Tritt, The Charlie Daniels Band, Chris Young, Justin Moore, Ashley McBride and many more. Cliff made the Top 15 national finalists on the ABC talent Show "Rising Star" and wrote a song for the book, "The Shoe-Burnin' - Stories of Southern Soul" available on Amazon. His soulful voice and story telling style of writing has helped Cliff build a loyal following. He makes fast friends and forever fans and once you hear him, you become both. Cliff met his wife Amy at the legendary Bluebird Cafe and they married in 1998. They live in a log cabin with their 125 pound rescue dog--Bronx in the hills of Appalachian Ohio. They are enormously proud of their only child, Veronica who is an honor student at Ohio Wesleyan University—who doesn't call home nearly enough.  Where to find Cliff Website: https://www.cliffcody.com Where he's playing: https://www.cliffcody.com/calendar Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cliffcody

Caregivers Stories podcast, Kimberly interviews Tracey Lawrence, Speaker-Trainer, Family Coach and Author of Dementia Sucks A Caregivers Journey – With Lessons Learned. Way back in 2003 Tracey had a successful career in graphic arts and was living with her husband in New Jersey while her parents were living a happy retirement in Florida. It was spring when she visited them. She remembered it so well because that was the time she found out that things were not going great for her father. There was a lot of cross complicating illness, and he had been misdiagnosed several times. It was Tracey who figured out that her dad had vascular dementia because he had coronary heart disease. Her father wished not to prolong his life and so around a year after he passed away. Her mother remained in Florida for a while, but when things started to become hard for her to live alone, Tracey asked her husband if her mother could live with them. Her husband agreed, so they packed her things and moved her to their home. It was 2010 when they moved her to be with them permanently, and she died on her 64th wedding anniversary, the year 2015. So over five years, her mother experienced every kind of caregiving on the caregiving spectrum. From a combination of living with Tracey and having to hire people in the home to help them and at the end of her life, she was on Hospice in a group home. As a way to cope with the rollercoaster ride that Tracey was on, she poured her heart out on a journal. She blogged her experience and gained a lot of followers. She was glad that she recorded it because she realized that the book she wanted to write already exists. After polishing it, she found someone who helped her and she got a publishing deal in July 2017. The book aims to help readers to understand the process of realization that your loved one is developing this problem and the kinds of things that you really need to do to prepare yourself for it. It also highlighted the importance of self-care for caregivers have the tendency to forget to take of oneself. Listen to the rest of the interview for these two wonderful daughters shared their experience on what is it like to become a caregiver to a parent who has dementia.
