Mark Sanders has been there and done that. From the '60 to his current output, Sanders has never given up on songs, creation, and finding the right tones to formulate excellent songs. Some of his first big stage tastes were opening for Ramblin Jack Elliot and The Blues Magoos after winning Battle of the bands at Daniels Den in Saginaw while in The Next Exit Blues Band. That band was coming out of another he was in, The Rogues, where he shared the stage with other luminaries of the time, including The Bossmen, ? and The Mysterians, Shadows Of Night, and ultimately a unique gig with The Animals.     From the clubs and main stages, rock, folk, and country eras, Mark is now retired from live shows, but was last playing with his wife Suzanne on keyboards & vocals in the Mark Sanders Band. Mark has four albums, he's back into blues and getting world-wide play, most recently a feature in Australia. This is a very intriguing ride and features a new song of his, 'On A Night Like That.'

In today's culture, it's hard to find anyone who hasn't been impacted by sexual sin, either personally or in their family or social circles. Issues of pornography, transgenderism, and homosexuality are pervasive, yet many in the evangelical church do not feel equipped to face the challenges of sexual brokenness. James and Jonathan are joined today by Mark Sanders, the executive director of Harvest USA. Harvest brings the truth and mercy of Jesus Christ by helping individuals and families affected by sexual struggles and by providing resources that address biblical sexuality to individuals and churches. Over the years, as the rise of the internet, it's become much more of a broad discipleship ministry addressing any way that sin has affected our sexuality and our gender, and we're just seeing more and more the ways that the fall and denial of God as our creator is going in more and more directions with sin. So we want to continue to see how Scripture brings clarity on God's design but also brings clarity on the hope that we have in Christ. – Mark Sanders Harvest USA has always been an important ministry, but it is becoming increasingly vital in today's culture. Tune in to hear more, and check out their website to see what resources are available, including two new online courses, “Raising Sexually Faithful Kids” and “Parenting Boys and Girls in a Gender-Confused World. Can the struggle of sexual brokenness be one's pathway to redemption? In this all-too-honest conversation, Mark Sanders of Harvest USA joins us in this conversation where he shares his personal faith journey, why he strived to overcome sexual brokenness, and how the gospel teachings and Christian values shaped him to be who he is now.He introduced the organization Harvest USA, rooted in the Presbyterian Church in America, and how it aligned with the principles of the book “Thank God for Bitcoin,” which discussed the common grounds of faith, finance, and economics. This serves as a jump-off for him to share his journey. As a filmmaker, he has a big love for movies and this great desire to get married, but it dawned on him how they turn out to be idolatry, redirecting his worship to something that can't satisfy him eternally and forgetting his relationship with God. He then touches on how media can impact one's life and why seeing everything through the Christian lens is important. As he shares his work in Harvest USA and what they offer to help people with sexual struggles, he gives his insights on the challenges of being a Christian in a secular society and how God's mercy continues to be evident even in these circumstances. There's so much to unpack in this episode as Mark discusses Christian stewardship, the reality of secularism, and why there's a need for healthy skepticism. So make sure to tune in to the whole episode! Here at TGFB, our mission is to educate and equip Christians to understand Bitcoin and harness its potential for good. Folding bikes have been around since at least World War I, but Mark Sanders always found modern versions too heavy or clunky for urban commutes. So during his student days at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art, he created his own. His eclectic triangular design looked like an art sculpture – and his school project later went into commercial production as the STRiDA (https://www.strida.com/) bike.In this episode, Mark tells Jon how the STRiDA first got manufactured – despite industry doubts about his unorthodox chainless design. Now the principal of the MAS Design Products (https://mas-design.com/about/) consultancy, Mark shares insights learned from designing candy vending machines, kitchen gadgets, bicycles, car engines, and electric aircraft. He also explains why “elegant” is his favorite word.Listen to this podcast on major podcast platforms here: https://linktr.ee/MastersofEngineering

This week's episode is extra special, as we have four amazing guest speakers from the Rebels for Peace. Rebels For Peace is a youth-led organization that wants to spread its message of bringing hope and faith back to the community of Chicago and the world. They believe understanding the mind as the source of everything we see in society is crucial to making any change. Instead of looking to outside forces to make a change, these Rebels feel that every human being has it within themselves to make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Joining us from the Rebels are Prince Jimmar, Dajohn White, Brandon Tillery, and Mark Sanders. They all have been collaborating with SPARK for a while now, and even go into schools in the inner city of Chicago and use the SPARK curriculum! Throughout this episode, they share what they feel is most important for youth to know and understand about their mind. This episode will give anyone listening hope for the future of our youth. Cole Swindell's latest single is arguably one of the biggest of his career. A spin off the '90s classic, “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” by Jo Dee Messina, Cole originally planned to tackle it as a duet with co-writer and fellow Country artist, Thomas Rhett. While on the road with Rhett's Center Point Road tour in 2021, Cole and Thomas sought to write a duet they could perform together, but after finding their stride with, “She Had Me At Heads Carolina,” it turned out to be a fit for only one. “Me and Thomas Rhett talked about this on tour last year, about wanting to do a song together,” Cole told Audacy's Rob + Holly. “That was the original plan, was for me and Thomas Rhett to sing, whatever this song became, together.” He continued, “The angle we wrote it in the room, it just didn't make sense really for both of us and TR is such a great writer anyways, so I'm proud to have him be a part of it.” Other songwriters on the project included Ashley Gorley and Jesse Frasure, as well as the writers of the original, “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” Tim Nichols and Mark Sanders. “The first step was to call the original writers, Tim Nichols and Mark D. Sanders,” he said of the songs initial start. “They wrote the original Jo Dee version and we didn't know what they were going to say.” He continued, “Turns out hey were honored we chose their song to kind of put a spin on and do our own way, so we wanted them to be involved there.” Another individual they wanted to be sure to involve was Jo Dee, which they ended up doing through the music video. “We wanted her involved as much as she wanted to be in any of it,” Cole said of Jo Dee. “My first time meeting her was literally on the set of the video shoot,” he laughed. “To meet somebody you've been a fan of your whole life, to meet them on the set of the video for a song you wrote — a spin of her original — it's mind-blowing. The whole thing, but I think it's just of those things that was meant to be.” We couldn't agree more as the song is sitting at the top of the charts and leading more and more people to explore 90s Country. “I think there are kids that are literally going back and falling in love with ‘90s Country music,” Cole said. “I feel like I owe that to Country music.” Hear more about the song and what Cole has been up to by listening to his conversation with Rob + Holly above.

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I welcome you to Soundcast Land … which is where Succotash, the soundcast you are currently listening to, resides…as well as in the hearts of millions I am being told so, Holy Crap…thank you! It's a very special feeling that I will attempt to acknowledge on the regular by continuing to do more-or-less the same thing for as long as seems appropriate…whatever THAT means. Cheers to you! Last week, in Epi311 titled "Moving to the Sounds of Laughter", show creator, executive producer, my co-host and your more-or-less every-other-show-host Marc Hershon brought you a trio of soundcast clips from the soundcasts known as: 5-4, Crazy Town, Prop Culture, and Romance Road Test. Lots of entertainment to be had there, and you can find that show along with our 11 years deep archive of episodes over at www.succotashshow.com, or pretty much wherever else soundcasts can be found and listened to… including where you found this episode. Speaking of which: This is Episode 312, "Nothing In Common", and I've got clips for you from three soundcasts that have (seemingly) nothing in common): No Cover - Live from Savage Henry Comedy Club, Gag On This…Podcast, and In Bed with Nick and Megan. If you are new to our show, welcome! Thank you for listening. This episode is sponsored by the all-new Passive Aggressive Pants from Henderson's Pants, makers of coverage for everything you have down under since 1735. CLIPS No Cover - Live from Savage Henry Comedy Club At Savage Henry Comedy Club in Eureka, CA, comedians and luminaries join host Mark Sanders to unwind and laugh about the goings on in Humboldt Country and the world at large. I clip from the first episode from May 13th, 2022 - "Condors in the Air, Scooters on the Street, and a Couple of Kinds of Comics",, and feature the music and comedy stylings of inaugural guest Stephanie Knowles. Gag On This…PodcastBig Nick, Rob, Charron, and Daddy D get together each week to interview local comedians/comediennes about their life in comedy, their views of the local scene, and we have them enter the 'Comics Studio.' We also discuss random topics and crack jokes with our guests and sometimes ask the audience to join in on the fun!" Taken from their Epi181 the dropped May 9th of this year, called "Gutting the Sacred Sinkie", the gang is joined by comedian Kevin Gootee! In this clip, Kevin explains what "Comics Watching Comics" is and notes some of the influence it has had on new comedians. In Bed with Nick and Megan Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman have been a couple for 20 years - 138 years in Hollywood time - and in their podcast they take listeners directly into their bed… because that's where every episode is recorded - their bed. Cozying up with their famous friends, your favorite couple provide a funny, revealing, and very candid look into their relationship and life at large. In some episodes, they'll even kick the guest out of bed and get extra personal in what some have called the most searing and rawly sexual conversations ever to burn their way through a voice recorder. Oh, yes. It's that good. Join Megan and Nick for some serious pillow talk. This clip is from August 30th, 2020, an episode entitled "Checking In with Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest". There is a terrific story very early on about how Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest met. I did not clip that for this show. I chose instead to go with a clip of the group having a discussion that begins with sharing experiences in the theatre and the early days of cable T.V. programming. (Note: There has not been an episode of In Bed with Nick and Megan released since the "Season 1 Finale" dropped on September 13th, 2020.) When you get done listening to Episode 312, this is pretty much what I'll be saying: "Hey there… welcome to the end of the episode. I do hope you found some interest and/or entertainment in the roughly half-hour of your life that you spent listening to us. Maybe you will search out these shows to add to your "to-listen-to-queue" for further exploration? Maybe you've already heard one or more of the shows featured on this program and were curious to hear specifically what we chose to share with other people… maybe you would have chosen a different portion? Those are a great many "Maybe"s indeed, but they are only as good as their ability to signify that probabilities are being speculated upon…. At least, that's what it looks like from where I'm sitting. Another difficult thing is finding a graceful way to transition to a plug for my website over at www.tysonsaner.com where you will find links to all my other projects including other soundcasts, music, videogame gaming videos of various sorts on my YouTube channel, over a hundered now actually with a more-or-less steady release of content lately…and maybe a few surprises. Anyway, listen in right here next week for episode 313 brought to you by Marc Hershon and then, most likely, I will be back in 2 weeks with episode 314… so, until then, Be Decent to Each Other, and if someone should ask you if you've heard anything good or interesting lately, and we come to mind, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
