Treaty United manager Laurie Ryan joins the podcast to reflect on the performance and what her side can take from the opening night (12:43), before Shelbourne manager Sean Russell discusses the positives from his side's winning start to the campaign (17:08).Attention then turns to Marley Park where Galway United left Dublin with a late 1–0 win over DLR Waves (20:35). Despite the defeat, much of the conversation focuses on the performance of DLR goalkeeper Summer Lawless, who produced a series of sensational saves during the match. The panel also debate whether the young stopper was fortunate to avoid a red card after a late challenge on Ceola Bergin. Lawless herself joins the show to discuss her performance and the team's start to the season (30:17), followed by reaction from DLR Waves manager Laura Heffernan (31:54) and Galway United manager Phil Trill (34:15). Galway's winning goal eventually arrived late in the game through Isabella Beletic. In the south east derby between Waterford and Wexford (37:54), the sides played out an entertaining scoreless draw where penalties, goal line clearances and impressive saves dominated proceedings in a lively encounter. The weekend's highest scoring match came in Greenogue as Peamount United and Bohemians shared four goals (52:16). Twice Sarah McKevitt had Bohemians in front, but Peamount responded through Sorcha Melia and Mary Phillips to secure a point. Bohemians defender Lisa Murphy reflects on the match (55:07), before Peamount manager Gary Seery gives his thoughts on an open and entertaining contest (56:43).In the northwest, Sligo Rovers produced a strong performance against champions Athlone Town (1:01:40). Dana Scheriff had given the visitors the lead, but a late Emma Hansberry free kick secured a deserved point for the Bit O' Red, who will feel they could have taken more after creating several chances during the game. The weekend concluded on Leeside where Shamrock Rovers began the James O'Callaghan era with a 2–0 win over Cork City (1:08:36). Inspired performances from Sadhbh Doyle and Ellen Molloy helped Rovers secure the victory, with Doyle opening the scoring before Emily Corbet added the second to seal the three points. The panel wrap up the episode with a full round-up of the weekend's results across the division (1:12:03).Episode 6 — the weekly preview show — will be available on Thursday as the podcast continues its coverage of the 2026 season.

The League of Ireland roared back into life last week, with late drama in Derry and Galway grabbing the headlines. That momentum took a hit on Sunday at the Aviva, though, raising fresh questions about hosting league games at the national stadium — something Kieran and Gaz get stuck into. Alongside our 2026 First Division preview and a chat with Treaty United goalkeeper Jack Brady, the lads also react to Roddy Collins' comments on James McClean. There's plenty more too, with a bumper BTS Hotline, the latest BTS Predictions League, and our new charity bet feature, sponsored by BAR 1 Betting (18+, Gamblingcare.ie). Another man excited for the return of the First Division is our long-term sponsor, Anthony Quinn of QuinnAv.ie.

Former Irish international Meabh De Burca (@MeabhDeBurca) joins Breifne to dissect a weekend of late goals, spoiled parties, and standout performances across the Women's Premier Division.⚽ Match Highlights
There's strong Clare interest in Treaty United Women's U19 Cup Final taking place next Sunday, October 12th, in Athlone, as the side takes on Bohemians. It's a huge occasion for women's soccer, with several Clare players represented across Treaty's under-17, under-19, and senior squads. Alan Morrissey was delighted to chat with Irene Hehir from Ennis, Team Manager, Sadbh Griffin from Ballynacally and Saoirse Kent from Connolly, players & Colaiste Muire students on Tuesday's Morning Focus.
This week, Breifne and Aaron break down a decisive weekend in the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division as the title race turns sharply in Athlone's favour, Treaty United fall apart, and the FAI Cup finalists sharpen their blades.⚽ Match Highlights & Talking Points
Are we about to witness the greatest week in the history of the LOI? We certainly won't be viewing it on the national broadcaster anyway, but Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers get the big game treatment on this week's Between the Stripes. It's a fiery BTS Hotline this week with Treaty United and Tommy Barrett coming in for plenty of flak from contributers after the Limerick men's 7-0 hammering at home to Dundalk. Sponsored by QuinnAv.ie
The lads react to Damien Duff's stunning LOI departure before breaking down a busy double game weekend across both divisions. Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett gives his thoughts on Duffer's departure and his teams strong showing so far this season. Cork City fans v Dermot Usher also discussed while we've got the BTS Hotline & predictions league too! Sponsored by QUINNAV.IE
Dundalk return to winning ways with a strong 2nd half performance against Longford Town which sees the Lilywhites score 3 without response with a brace from Dean Ebbe. Episode 185 also looks back at the Easter games which saw a win against Cobh but two disappointing draws against Treaty United and Finn Harps.
With Kieran off to Plovdiv to support the Boys in Green it's a slightly (and we mean slightly) snappier pod this week. Kieran & Gary reflect on last weekend's results across both divisions and look ahead to this week's First Division matches with the top flight on an international break. The lads also delve into Alan Reynolds's bizarre post-Pat's interview, the even stranger BORST statement about referees, and touch on the public row engulfing Treaty United. If it's frank & opinionated LOI coverage you're after then it's got to be Between the Stripes. Sponsored by QuinnAv.ie
A confident Dundalk looked set to continue their perfect start to the season establishing a 2 goal lead on the 80th minute of a game they looked comfortable in throughout. However a goalkeeping error invites a previously inert Treaty United into the game and ultimately sees the Lilywhite lose their defensive composure and concede 2 late goals in a game they should have won. Episode 180 discusses if this is a mere blip or signs of worrying frailties amongst the squad.
Galway United Women have a crucial midweek fixture against Treaty United FC of Limerick on Wednesday at 7.30pm to close the gap to league leaders Athlone Town FC to just 3 points. Both sides are coming off weekend victories against FAI Cup semi-finalists, Treaty United having beaten Cork City in dominant fashion away from home 3-0. While Galway beat Sligo Rovers in Eamon Deacy Park 2-1, thanks to goals from Amanda Smith and Emma Doherty. The sides also share a similar run in form with 3 wins and 2 losses each in their last 5 matches and both teams having a nominee for August's Player of the Month, Galway's Julie-Ann Russell and Treaty's Danielle Steer. Treaty United sit lower on the table in 8th place with 17 points in 15 matches while Galway are chasing the top 2 spots in the league with 28 points in 13 matches. Galway United are unbeaten against Treaty United in their last 8 league meetings, and they will look to extend this impressive record against the Limerick side to be within one point of second place Shelbourne with a game in hand. This would leave them a chance to climb to 2nd position in the league when they face Wexford in Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday evening. Manager Phil Trill told John Mulligan that it is a massive game for the team.
This week, Diarmuid Blake looked back at the opening round of games in the County Senior and Intermediate Football Championship, Head of Communications with the Olympic Federation of Ireland Heather Boyle spoke about Ireland's best ever Olympic Games and Enda Curran joined George following his 100th League of Ireland goal for Treaty United at the weekend.
Galway United make the journey to Dalymount Park on Saturday Afternoon to face Shelbourne in the Women's National League. It has been a big week for Phil Trill's side. A 1-0 win over Treaty United booked their place in the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup Semi-Final, Kate Thompson, Eve Dossen and Rola Olusola were called up into the Republic of Ireland U19 Women's Squad for the European Championships in Lithuania and on Wednesday, it was announced that Julie Ann Russell had been named in the Republic of Ireland Senior Squad for crucial European Championship qualifiers against England and France. United lie just five points off Shelbourne in second place and six off the top spot held by Athlone Town with a game in hand on both teams. Ahead of the game on Saturday, Phil spoke to John Mulligan.
Galway United continue the defence of the Avenir All-Island Cup on Saturday (29th June 2024) when they host Treaty United in the quarter-final. It's their first meeting this season with the scheduled SSE Airtricity League Premier Division meeting put back until September. The Tribesmen topped Group D with two wins and a draw; but their Limerick opponents are also undefeated, having drawn two of their three fixtures before finishing second behind Shamrock Rovers in Group C. Already Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers and Wexford FC, who'll host the winners of this tie, are through to the final four. Leading up to the game, Galway United manager Phil Trill has been chatting with Galway Bay FM's John Mulligan. == Kick-off at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday is 5pm and we'll have updates with Joseph Murray here on Galway Bay FM.
Galway United return to SSE Airtricity League Women's Premier Division action on Saturday (25th May 2024) when they travel to Shamrock Rovers. The Tribeswomen are unbeaten in six games against their highly rated opponents who have still to pick up a victory this season. When the team met in Dublin in 2023, the Hoops took a 2-1 victory while also getting a 1-1 draw in Galway. Leading up to the game, Galway United manager Phil Trill joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly to preview the fixture, chat about their recent record attendance of 2,861, the All-Island Cup quarter-final draw against Treaty United, and ask why Jenna Slattery is not in the Republic of Ireland squad. == Kick-off at Tallaght Stadium on Saturday is 7.35pm.
Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett sits down for a lengthy discussion with the lads with the Limerick native admitting this season has been his most testing in charge of the club. Kieran & Gary talk set-pieces after an error-filled derby between Rovers and Pats which leads to a wider discussion on the standard of the league this season and why we are seeing so many dull games according to the lads. There's lots of Dundalk chat again as the off-field circus at Oriel Park continued to roll this week with Brian Gartland's acrimonious departure, an open fans letter calling for Brian Ainscough to revert his decision to appoint Noel King, and links with Paul Doolin and Ian Baraclough all making the headlines.
