Its a Duffer's only night here on the Podcast! The boys discuss Brian's trip to Hawaii, the legendary victory for the Duffin' Up Scramble (with the help of a ringer), and the hunt for the 2023 blue jackets! The boys then discuss the President's Cup (which some of us watched minimally) and how they were able to turn it from a slaughter into a competitive event. Take a break from the spin doctors telling you the Presidents Cup was much closer than the score indicated, and listen to the LLG crew tell you what really happened at Quail Hollow this week. Duffer, OTP Lefty, and JScore watched the the PGA Tour's premier team exhibition so you wouldn't have to. Thank them by listening to this episode. If you won't do it for them, do it for the shield.
In the childhood home county of Harry Potter and Emma Woodhouse, Irishman Shane Lowry wins the DP World Tour's marquee event and self-deprecatingly declares himself "one of the good guys." Duffer, JScore, and OTP Lefty discuss whether it might be time to fit Lowry for a black hat. (He's definitely Slytherin House.) We recap the play at Wentworth West, discuss Sergio Garcia's early return home to Austin, and dissect Patrick Reed's week on the interview circuit. And, in honor of LLG's 10th podcast episode and thanks to our listeners, we're giving away some LIV Golf team merchandise. Make sure to listen and enter before LIV Chicago tees off later this week.

In this week's episode, we have a discussion with Mitchell Gerber, an investigative journalist who has dedicated 22 years to exposing crimes against humanity happening in China. With a resilient character and a determined mind, he has been working hard on the frontline of a significant cause, which has been coined a “New form of evil.” Mitchell has been traveling the world in a crucial attempt to raise awareness about the crimes currently occurring against certain religious groups resulting in horrific acts of violence by the country's own government. The Stranger Things 4 finale, "The Piggyback," was full of SO MUCH action, suspense, sadness, exposition, humor, and intrigue! Coming in at the run time of a full-length movie, we still wanted more! How could the Duffer brothers leave the ending on such a massive cliffhanger? How could they yet again kill off a major fan-favorite character? Will we ever see Max alive again? We decided to jump back into things with a Small Screen Tea, so find yourself a nice body of saltwater and sink into the sounds of us geeking out over season four of the Duffer brothers' Stranger Things! Be prepared to do some eye-rolling as Lisha does what she does best, which is get loud and gay over (loud and gay) characters, while Jules goes hard on Russia and both of your hosts damn Mike Wheeler to an eternity of torture in the lowest depths of hell (okay...maybe that's just Lisha, while Jules sticks to making fun of Finn Wolfhard). Regardless, this one was a blast and we both really loved this season, so grab your headphones, send some love to Eddie Munson, and run up this hill with us, nerds ♫♫ Also, in the wise words of one King Steve Harrington...boobies ♥♥*Forgive us forever for the background noise, we've learned our lesson and will never record at this table ever, ever again. The Stranger Things 4 finale was full of SO MUCH action, suspense, sadness, exposition, humor, and intrigue! Coming in at the run time of a full-length movie, we still wanted more! How could the Duffer brothers leave the ending on such a massive cliffhanger? How could they yet again kill off a major fan-favorite character? Will we ever see Max alive again? Overall we found the season 4 finale to be very enjoyable. Obviously, like most (all?) of the fandom, we are not happy with Eddie's death, but the excellent storytelling in this episode built to an epic crescendo with all of the character groups coming together to push back Vecna. The music was masterfully woven into the episode, and the use of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" was spectacular.
The series overall was great and yet I felt we have seen this song and dance already the last three seasons. This playing it safe over and over is killing the potential of this series. But there is hope. The final season is going to be the epic conclusion. But how epic is really up the Duffer Bros. Don't let us down.
Rarely does someone create a television show that is relevant, entertaining, and dripping with nostalgia from four decades earlier. The Duffer brothers have managed to wake John Hughes from the dead, mix him with Spielberg, throw a dash of McTiernan in there, and serve us four seasons of the single best tv series out there! So of course when we see perfection our first instinct…recast it! Today on Buzzn The tower, we'll take our favorite characters from our favorite show, Stranger Things, an and recast them with actors and actresses from the 1980s. I'm Mo Shapiro and joining me as always, the number 1 to my number 11, Max Sanders. And with that...
The Montauk Project was an experiment allegedly ran by the US military during the Cold War, where the goal was to make advances is psychological warfare. Children were abducted and trained in mind control, telepathy, opening space-time portals, the extraterrestrial, and more... sound familiar??? This wild conspiracy theory was what inspired the Duffer brothers to write Stranger Things
Brian Duff and Marty Biron share their top five most wanted players for the Sabres that could be acquired via trade on this week's The Instigators Overtime podcast. We discuss some possible blockbuster deals, some potential options for goalies, right-handed defensemen, and added size in the lineup. Plus one that got Duffer right up out of his chair to walk away!
Obi Wan is ending soon, Dr. Strange is streaming now, a new show sends kids to a wilderness camp, a new Stranger Things trailer, Kate Bush writes a heartfelt thank you to the Duffer bros, at least 1000 are dead in an Afghanistan earthquake, a study shows that standing on 1 leg for 10 seconds might tell you when you're going to die, and this summer's grossest treat, trusting other people's driving!
Stranger Things Season 4 Part One has graced us with its wonderful presence and maybe you're still recovering from the late-night binge like I am. Regardless of all of the shocks, twists, and turns of this season, I think we can all agree on the one cameo no one was expecting: Kate Bush. A phenomenal artist of the past and a fair niche one at that, I'm not sure that Kate herself expected the renaissance that her anthology is now receiving. But the song is more than just an epic moment, it's also a great story worth telling that speaks to the overall story being told by Stranger Things. Make no mistake, them Duffer boys didn't pick this song accidentally. It's also a story worth telling in the church. So what say you and I run up that hill to make a deal with God and find out what in the world we can learn from a 35-year-old synthy jam? Let's talk about it. Sabres development coach Dan Girardi joined Brian Duff and Marty Biron on this week's The Instigators Overtime podcast. They discussed Girardi's top moments & stories from his NHL career as a defenseman, some of his tips for staying in the lineup, and the improvement & development he's seen while coaching the Sabres young defensemen - including Rasmus Dahlin (28:35) & Owen Power (35:00). He answered a few ‘Dis or Dat' questions plus Duffer & Marty shared some of their choices for unheralded defensemen from the NHL playoffs.
Horror has always found a home on television but it's hard to imagine anything capturing the attention of the pop culture zeitgeist like “Stranger Things” has done over the past few years. Developed by the Duffer brothers, the series based in the 1980's was equal parts nostalgia and great storytelling while making titles like Eleven and the Demogorgon household names across the globe. When “Stranger Things” season 3 ended, the evil Mindflayer had been stopped but Eleven lost her powers and the gateway to the Upside Down has seemingly ended Chief Jim Hopper's life. Season 4 picks up with Eleven and the Byers' family living in California, Mike and Dustin teaming up with a new friend named Eddie and a nightmarish presence suddenly lurking in Hawkins that is far scarier than any big bad before it.For the first time on Rewind of the Living Dead, we review a TV series as we crank up the Kate Bush and remember friends don't lie as we review “Stranger Things” Season 4, Volume 1…
It's a whole host of content! This may very well be the biggest memorial day yet after 2 straight years of really nothing! But with the release of Top Gun: Maverick in theaters, the debut of the long awaited Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ and the return of the long awaited fourth season of Stranger Things, its a content competition to see what can get viewers eyeballs! First up is Top Gun: Maverick, the long in the making and then releasing sequel to the 1986 classic starring Tom Cruise, returning to the cockpit as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, now in the mentor position as he has to train a new generation of pilots to carry out a dangerous mission, among them Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller) the son of Maverick's late co-pilot Goose. Then we have Obi-Wan Kenobi, an oddity in the Star Wars streaming canon fodder in that it's been a project long in the making, as fan demand for the return of the beloved Jedi knight is really what prompted this into existance. Based off the original movie script by Hossein Amini, adapted into television form by Stuart Beattie & Joby Harald and directed by "The Mandalorian" season 1 director Deborah Chow, the series sees the return of Ewan McGregor as the iconic Jedi knight as he undertakes a mission to rescue Princess Leia when she is captured by Inquisitors in a ploy to pull him out into the open. And finally, we have the return of Stranger Things, another show that fell victim to Covid and has been several years since its last season. But with the very much increased budget, the extra time taken to give attention to the scripts, the massive amount of story contributing to each episode and a sense of a return to familiarity in the sort of combined comfort and thrills the Duffer bros are able to inject into the show, it feels like the return of an old friend. This week we're bending the rules of our New York style season slightly, by interviewing fellow Brit, Jason Jules. Regardless, his new book Black Ivy: A Revolt in Style is extremely pertinent to this season's theme, given its concern with mid-century American style. Aleks and Jason explore Black Ivy in this episode, of course, but we also hear about Jason's fascination for cultural trend-spotting, his passion for jazz music and his admiration for progressive rap culture. It's a fascinating conversation, this. We hope you enjoy it.---HandCut Radio is produced by Birch, the London based creative office of James Allen.
