It's hard to believe that a few months ago my life looked totally different. I was preparing to go on a trip to Costa Rica with a wonderful group of women. We were on our way to the Wellness Woman 40 and Beyond Self-Care/Self Love Retreat. A retreat I have been planning for over a year. My whole goal for this retreat was to give the women a once in a lifetime experience of self-care and self-love. We were going to do yoga, hiking, ziplining, horseback riding, meditation, heal our souls through essential oils, eat organically, and really spend time discovering who we are as mid-life women. As one of the participants said, we were going to be “Queenagers” Imagine how it felt to find out that instead of having a beautiful time in Costa Rica getting in touch with my inner self, spending time relaxing and enjoying the beauties of Costa Rica, that I would instead be isolated, spending time in my home, away from my daughter, friends, and other families. Also, having to be cautious about doing the simplest of activities like going to the store, post office, or even a walk around the block. What a paradigm shift! I also realized that while we are all trying to stay uplifted, encouraged, and motivated to get through this time, the reality is that many of us have experienced anxiety, stress, and depression. In this episode, I share some information that will help you deal with these feelings so that you can continue to move forward as we work on overcoming these chaotic times. In this Lynnis Minutes, I talk about the importance of Omega-3 in our diets. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential because the body is not capable of producing them on its own. That's why it is crucial we get enough from our diet. Omega-3s are extremely beneficial; they are an integral part of cell membranes throughout the body and affect cell receptors in these membranes. They also help with hormone production and regulate blood clotting, contraction and relaxation of artery walls, and inflammation in the body. Omega 3 has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and cancer, and may help control eczema, depression, and rheumatoid arthritis.
