Monique talks about her health diagnosis that forced her to make changes in her life. She shares with us her inspiration for her instagram account called Motustardus- which means slow in Latin. She says, "Life brought me exactly what I needed".  Kirsten shares about a book she read recently that talks about this concept called 'Chasing Slow'. In it the auther says," Many of us have come to a point in life where we feel weary. We have burdened ourselves with possessions, packed social calendars, busy work schedules- loads that are far too heavy to carry-yet we grip them with clenched hands." Girlfriends & Time Away

Monique is here (recording from France!) with Kirsten talking all about the importance of spending time with girlfriends and time for yourself.  When we can prioritize connecting with other women in a deep and meaningful way, we share, unwind, and can breathe deeply for a moment...taking the weight off of our chest.  Women are so often the heart of the home, pouring so much of themselves into their homes, children, significant others, work, etc. It can get heavy at times. We need longer time blocks where we have NOTHING to take care of but ourselves. Time that we think only of ourselves. This is how we recharge and are filled back up again to give more fully and from a good place.  Why does it seem so hard for women to take the time away? Why do we struggle to let go of our responsibilities? The kids and family WILL survive without you and teaching your kids to be self sufficient is a good thing.    Being able to transport yourself away from your normal everday life is important for renewal....Having a moment to have your own thoughts, listen, and be quiet. Women understand women and the loads we carry, with much compassion for each other. Don't forget the importance of making an effort with friendships. Priorize taking time for friends!  ___________________________________ Sharing Her Journey's FRANCE Retreat is open for registration. Sharing Her Journey is SO excited to welcome Monique Hale to the podcast as one of our permanent MONTHLY co-hosts. This woman has lived many lives...both in America and France. She is admirable in so many ways, and has handled her journey with grace and beauty. Oh, and she is kindly blunt and funny too! Monique was born and raised in France with many brothers and sisters. She was raised in a strict home where her father exposed her to nature, art, architecture, and travels. Her mother encouraged her and her siblings in all of their ambitions. After high school, she spent a year in America...which she had always wanted to discover! Monique then decided to stay and pursue studies in Interior Design. {This is where she meets Kirsten:}  After spending nearly 2 decades in the USA,  she moved back home to France so her children would grow in her beautiful culture and language. After leaving her husband, she stayed in France because of the great support system she has there.  Monique loves to express herself through art by drawing, taking pictures, composing floral arrangements, or decorating interiors.  Each decade of life, has brought its own set of challenges and truths. Her forties have been the most revealing years.  Monique also invests in small real estate properties in France, to plan for the future and she has created her own line of textiles.  Find Monique's Textile company HERE _______________________________________ Connect with Sharing Her Journey on Instagram

In this Come Home and Talk Series conversation, Alexis takes Kirsten through the part of a conversation where she can learn to observe is she feels safe or not. Knowing if you feel safe in the conversation means...do I feel comfortable being honest, why or why not? Does the other person feel safe to share? This skill is called Learning to Look. It's one that often overlooked, but it's ESSENTIAL if you want to learn HOW to have hard conversations. (And from our experience, life is learning about HOW to have conversations---the easy, the hard, and all parts inbetween). Learning to notice body cues, emotions, physical responses in ourselves is a key part in determining HOW to proceed when we've entered a hard conversation. The other part of this process is learning to understand the other person's behavior. What does it mean when my teen goes silent?  What does it mean when my co-worker starts trying to control the conversation or collaboration experience? How do I proceed when my spouse is clearly upset? What can I say to help? We hop you come join the conversation. AND...we have some amazing upcoming events.
