You know that client who seems stuck no matter what you try? Who says they want change, but resists every invitation to actually do the thing?Sometimes… that client is us.This one's a little spicy, a little sobering, and a whole lot clarifying. Because if you're in the business of helping others grow, you need to be honest about your own coachability too.And if you're holding space for someone who's starting to feel impossible to coach, you'll want to hear this. This episode is a compassionate deep-dive into:The two flavours of resistance that show up with uncoachable clients (and which one is sneakier)The patterns we all fall into when we say we want change… but don't reallyHow to spot uncoachability before it turns into resentmentWhat to do when you're the one hitting a wall (and how to get back into integrity without spiraling)This isn't about shame. It's about responsibility. It's about owning our resistance with curiosity, not judgement—and learning how to move through it, instead of dressing it up as strategy or mindset.Whether you're feeling stuck in your own journey, or working with a client who just won't budge—this one's here to clear the fog and bring you back to centre. You're not wrong. What happens to business when life happens?

Life inevitably throws unexpected curveballs, like grief, illness and family emergencies. So how do you keep your business afloat while honouring what matters most—taking time to grieve, heal and be with loved ones? This episode comes from a place close to my heart as I share with you my personal experiences and provide practical advice for how to keep your head above water.Recognising Life's ImpactThe first thing is we need to recognise the impact of life events. So often we set goals with this idea that, because we've set the goal or signed up for this mentorship or just started our business now, nothing is allowed to go wrong. And that's just not how life works. We actually have to live as though the unexpected emergencies are guaranteed. They might not always come as big tragedies - even little things can really disrupt the flow of what to do.Self Compassion and Setting BoundariesThe next part of addressing setbacks involves having self-compassion and setting priorities and boundaries. During tough times, it's crucial to be compassionate with yourself. Self-compassion helps regulate emotions, improve decision-making and reduce stress and anxiety. Once you've practised self-compassion, it's vital to reassess and set priorities. It's okay to push some tasks to the side or reschedule them to ensure you have time for what truly matters.Practical Strategies and Support SystemsPractical strategies are key to keeping your business running during personal crises. This includes automating tasks, utilising technology, delegating to virtual assistants and communicating transparently with clients about any potential delays. It's also helpful to explore business models and schedules that offer flexibility. Leaning on support systems is equally critical. Whether it's friends, family, professional networks, or a therapist, having a support system in place can provide the help you need to navigate tough times. Remember, be gentle with yourself. Don't set goals or plans with this undercurrent of not being able to afford for this to go wrong. Instead, set your sights on creating achievement with space for life to do its thing, knowing you have tools in place to support you.If you have any thoughts or questions about this episode, I'd love to hear from you. How to be more carefree: both in general + when going for huge goals

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 18, 2024 39:00

When you're going for big dreams, it can be hard to not feel completely crushed when things don't go according to plan. How can you be more carefree when things shift and change, instead of it feeling like the end of the world? This idea of being more carefree is something that I've been speaking about with a number of my clients recently and it just so happens to be a listener question as well. Before launching into any tips and strategies, I feel like an important aspect of this discussion is to clarify what being carefree means. To me, it's about being present, enjoying the process, and not overly stressing about the outcome. This mindset is crucial for high performance and your overall sense of wellbeing, no matter what the thing is that you're pursuing. The pressure I felt to maintain success after winning a world competition in martial arts was huge. But, it taught me a valuable lesson: When we're too focused on the result, the journey becomes unenjoyable and stressful. How to Be More Carefree: Ten Practical Tips1. Love on Yourself Really HardPractice self-compassion, self-love, and positive self-talk. Being kind to yourself during setbacks is crucial for maintaining a healthy mindset.2. Shift Your PerspectiveQuestion your beliefs about your challenges. Is it the ultimate truth? Often, a change in perspective can make obstacles seem much more manageable.3. Develop and Keep a Growth MindsetSee every experience as a learning opportunity. Celebrate your efforts and progress, and never compare yourself to others—only to your past self.4. Stay PresentFocus on the now. Worrying about the future or dwelling on the past takes you out of the present moment where life actually happens.5. Pace YourselfSet realistic milestones. Although it might seem counterintuitive when you're aiming high, lowering your expectations in the short term can help you achieve great things over time without overwhelming yourself.6. Build ResilienceDevelop coping mechanisms for stress and have a comeback strategy for when things go off track. This helps you recover quickly and keep moving forward.7. Practice GratitudeFocus on what's working rather than what's not. Cultivating gratitude will keep you motivated and positive and is generally an amazing practise to have in your everyday life.8. Visualise Your SuccessYour brain can't tell the difference between imagining something and it actually happening. Visualise your goals as if they've already happened to build the neural pathways for success.9. Pleasure Over PressurePursue activities that bring you joy. Finding pleasure in the journey decreases the pressure on achieving the end result. Again this one might seem counterintuitive but as you do things that light you up, you'll naturally lean into success and joy in other areas of your life, including those big goals.10. Create a Supportive EnvironmentSurround yourself with positive, encouraging people and limit your exposure to negative influences as best you can. It can be really helpful to have a professional coach, mentor or therapist in your corner to help prioritise your mental health. Embracing a carefree attitude doesn't mean you don't care—it means you're more focused on the present moment than on a specific outcome. The ironic thing is that this mindset can make you more attractive to achieving your goals because you're not weighed down by desperation or stress.I'd love to hear which of these tips resonates with you the most. Remember, everything you want is closer than you think. Stay curious and stay open.LINKS:Download my Self Coaching Guide hereSubmit your Question for the Podcast hereJoin the waitlist for my Masterminds  hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

How to align your subconscious with your next goals

On the road to pursuing big goals, there will be times when you feel ready to go to the next level but for some reason, you meet resistance. Even though you're doing everything you know you should be doing, something is holding you back. The reason for this resistance often lies deep within our subconscious. There's this thing called secondary gain, which is essentially an unnoticed benefit of staying right where you are. While logically, we want to grow and achieve more, our subconscious wants us to stay where we are.Your subconscious mind is designed to keep you safe. It's there to make sure that everything you do each day can be done without thinking about it. It controls the majority of what happens in your body, your mind, your heart, your actions, your feelings, your thoughts and your beliefs. But that can work for you and against you. Tap into your IntuitionWhere we need to start is excavating at the subconscious level to look at what is in the way between where you are now and where you want to be. This is where it's really important to understand the difference between fear and intuition. Fear will always be loud and scary, but intuition will be constant. In my opinion, the best way to tap into your intuition is by getting into your body. Movement, being in nature, noticing where you feel certain thoughts in your body. Make this a regular practice so you can make a distinction between the voice of fear and the voice of your intuition. Pinpoint the Secondary GainTake some time to think about what benefits you might be getting from staying stuck. They might not be obvious right away but ask yourself questions like: What am I afraid will happen if I actually reach my goal?Is there a downside to achieving this goal that I'm not acknowledging? What am I protecting myself from by not moving forward?Once you have an idea of what's going on, work on flipping those subconscious beliefs around. Create new, positive beliefs that match up with what you consciously want. Instead of "I might fail if I succeed," think, "Each effort I make brings me closer to success, even if I stumble along the way." Change "I will lose something important if I grow," to "Growth opens up new opportunities and can enhance what I value most."Visualise a Safe SuccessYour subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between you visualising something and it actually happening. Professional athletes use visualisation every day because they understand this. Practice visualising achieving your goal and it going as well as possible. Feel the emotions that go along with that and make sure it's a positive experience. Teach your body how it feels and that this is normal because when you can teach your brain and body where to go, it will naturally flow there. AffirmationA lot of people try using affirmations to progress forward but they're going too far that it doesn't feel achievable. The key to affirmation is to pick a better feeling thought. Instead of claiming these big bold statements that are a world away from your current reality, choose something just one level away. Mindfulness and Presence When you're in the process of working towards a huge goal, it can feel like everything is urgent. Stop a moment and ask yourself, “What's important right now?”. Do the one thing that will move everything forward and make every other task irrelevant.I find the best way to stay connected to the presence is through meditation. It creates space in your mind so you can pause and think before you do something out of a knee-jerk reaction. Calm, Consistent ActionTeeny tiny movements towards what it is that you want will bring you a feeling of success and like you're on purpose. By taking small consistent actions towards your goals, it reinforces the fact that you have focused on what's important and affirms to you that you deserve what it is that you're working towards. If you've decided that you want to go to the next level, your action is the thing that cements your decision.Get Support and AccountabilitySometimes an outside perspective is just what we need. Working with a coach or a trusted friend can provide the support and accountability you need to work through subconscious resistance. Self ReflectionI do a weekly review as a way to check in with my goals and what's happened in the last week. This self reflection practice is a great tool to discover what you've learned, where your resistance is, what's holding you back and what you might be avoiding. Remember, everything you want is available to you in some version of reality and it's available right now. You just need to remove the resistance between where you are now and where you want to be.LINKS:Download my Self Coaching Guide hereSubmit your Question for the Podcast hereJoin the waitlist for my Masterminds  hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

How to know when it's time to quit

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 4, 2024 31:41

Last week I talked about getting good at failure and how real failure is only when you give up entirely. But I don't think that conversation would be complete without talking about the fact that sometimes it is necessary and even beneficial to quit. Knowing whether it's time to let go of something is a topic that comes up quite regularly in my coaching, especially for people who are pursuing seemingly impossible or drawn-out goals. It's not uncommon to arrive at the question: "Is it worth continuing?" There's a thing called the sunk cost bias, and it can trick us into staying committed to ventures that no longer serve us, just because we've invested so much into them already. Whether in relationships, businesses, or personal pursuits, recognising when to walk away is really important. The caveat here is that only you can really know when it's time to quit and when it's time to persevere. Signs It Might Be Time to Quit (or at least change something)Persistent UnhappinessIf you're consistently feeling unhappy, stressed, or unfulfilled despite your efforts to improve the situation, it might be time for a change.Loss of Passion or ExcitementA significant decline in enthusiasm and energy for your venture could signal it's time to re-evaluate.Negative Impact on HealthYour body doesn't lie. If your health is deteriorating due to ongoing stress or exhaustion, your body is trying to tell you something. Get out in nature, connect back in with your body and listen. It might surprise you what you hear.Toxic or Abusive EnvironmentWhen you're in a consistently toxic or abusive situation, walking away is often the best option. For me personally, there isn't even a question around this one.Lack of Growth or AdvancementIf there's no room for growth or opportunities for advancement, you might have reached the end of the road.Misalignment with ValuesWhen the venture no longer aligns with your core values, it might be an indicator to move on.Persistent Gut Feeling to QuitYour intuition is powerful. If your gut is persistently urging you to quit, it's worth taking seriously. Think about the last time you quit something and felt good about it. What made you realise it was the right choice? Reflecting on past decisions can provide you with clarity on the dilemmas you're currently facing. Signs it Might be Worth PerseveringTemporary SetbacksThere's a difference between a temporary setback and a permanent problem. Cash flow issues, tech problems, or health setbacks can often feel overwhelming but they might only be temporary hurdles.Ongoing ProgressIf you're still making progress and seeing improvements, albeit small, it could be worth persevering. Progress is progress, and you might be just around the corner from an encouraging amount of growth. Passion and PurposeOver the 16 years of running my business, there have been hard times when I have seriously questioned whether I should keep going. In those times, I always came back to my passion and purpose. If you still feel a strong sense of passion and purpose in what you're doing, it's worth pushing through difficult times.Supportive EnvironmentA solid support system can make a huge difference in your persistence. Whether it's a mentor, a group of friends or a networking community, they can help normalise the challenges you're facing and encourage you to keep going.Positive FeedbackDuring the times I've felt like throwing in the towel, I would receive random positive feedback about the work I was doing. Good feedback, even a little bit, can be a strong motivator to keep going.Continuous Learning and GrowthIf what you have been pursuing still offers growth and learning opportunities, it might be worth persevering.Reflect on past challenges you've overcome and how you felt during that time. They might have felt insurmountable at the time, but perhaps those situations can be an encouragement to keep going.Deciding whether to quit or persevere is complex and nuanced. While persistence can pay off, sometimes quitting is the bravest and most productive decision you can make. Remember, the goal is to learn how to coach yourself, tune into your own needs and make choices that align with your long-term well-being and goals.Everything you desire might be just a step away, whether it's quitting or persevering. Only you can know the right answer.LINKS:Join the waitlist for my Masterminds  hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

How to overcome the fear of failure - even when the stakes are high

The fear of failure is the underlying topic beneath every conversation I have with my clients. No matter who you are, what you've achieved and what success you're striving for, nobody is immune to the fear of failure. We all face it. The solution then isn't so much about ridding yourself of the fear. It's about getting comfortable with being uncomfortable because the fear will never not be there.A fear of failure can come up at any stage of the performance spectrum. Maybe you even fear admitting what you really want because of the possibility of being ridiculed or people thinking your goals are unrealistic. People often claim they don't know what they want, but it's usually to avoid the difficult process of pursuing it.Admitting what you wantAdmitting your goals is just the first step. Then comes taking action, which brings its own set of fears. You might worry about looking stupid or being disappointed. These thoughts can be paralysing. And then there's the fear of success - what if achieving your goal changes your life in ways you're not prepared for?The Illusion of FearThe fear of failure is insidious and ubiquitous. Yet, on the other side of that fear lies total freedom. When you truly see “failure” for what it is, an incredible learning experience, the rest of your experience becomes a playground. The concept of failure becomes irrelevant once you realise your fear of failure is a total illusion. Taking ActionThis is where it's so important to reframe your thinking around failure. Instead of letting the possibility of failure stop you from trying in the first place, think of any action you take as an opportunity to grow and get closer to your goal. Sure, you risk not getting what you want straight away, but that's just the price of entry for any worthwhile pursuit.Being comfortable with DiscomfortSuccessful people aren't immune to fear; they've just learned to be comfortable with discomfort. And so can you. You build comfort with discomfort by continuously putting yourself in situations where you risk failure and learning from each experience.Once you admit what you want and start taking action, despite the risks, the mere act of pursuing what you love will feel like success. The fear of failure is just a mental barrier. Once you begin, you realise the journey itself can be fulfilling.LINKS:Join the waitlist for my Masterminds  hereWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

I'm no stranger to burnout. Starting in 2008, chronic fatigue had me pretty much housebound for years, and as weird as it sounds, I count that experience as a privilege. I was forced to set boundaries that I know I wouldn't have set had I not been forced to. That experience changed the way I approached achieving success because I could no longer work myself to the ground. The consequences were too great. Instead, I had to find smart and unconventional ways of working so that I could prioritise my health. To me, that's not a luxury, it's a necessity. Everything Counts One thing I've come to realise through my coaching practice is that everything that is happening in a person's life is relevant. Often when I'm working with a client, halfway through a program something unexpected will happen and that then forms part of the curriculum. Sometimes it doesn't feel like a good thing, like a time of bereavement. Other times it can be a good distraction like a new relationship or pregnancy. People often think they need to separate what's happening in life from the work they need to do to reach their goals, but everything is connected. We need to make space for life to happen and embrace the fact that the journey might be a little more windy and slow than we initially thought it would. Make Time For Yourself One of the biggest precursors to burnout is ignoring the extra stuff that's going on in life and not acknowledging what they're really spending their time on. They feel stressed and rushed all the time which is not at all conducive to being creative. Life will always happen and extra pressures like everyday errands, commuting time, health challenges and relationships will use up mental, emotional, and physical bandwidth. It can be really helpful to write out everything you do on an average day to really see where you spend your time and then make extra space for yourself to breathe a little and do the things that light you up. That way, the pressure is off, you feel calm and way more able to work toward the things you want to achieve. Yes, it might take a little longer, but maybe with this newfound peace, you'll reach your goals way faster than expected. Either way, you're moving forward.Everything you need to achieve your goals is already in motion. By staying present, open, and curious, you can harness the magic of the present moment to propel you forward on your path to success. Trust in the process, honour your pace and expect the unexpected.LINKS:Download my Business Housekeeping ChecklistJoin me in The Fierce SalonJoin me in The Bloom Business IncubatorWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

Business Housekeeping: Good for your mental health

I don't believe in junk drawers. In fact, I'm a big believer that things should be as beautiful behind the scenes as they are front of house. So, it's somewhat embarrassing to admit that a few years ago, I realised the organisation I'd been so proud of in my home did not translate to my business! Things were super chaotic and none of the basics had their proper place.I know I'm not alone in this. I've seen far too many people become dismayed and overwhelmed in their businesses due to a lack of solid systems and processes in the back end. Today, I'm talking all about business housekeeping and how it can help you maintain a well-organised and efficient operation. We'll discuss how incorporating regular tasks into your routine can save time, reduce stress and ensure the smooth running of your business.Theming Your DaysTheming my days is something I find super helpful when allocating different admin tasks to certain days. You might have a couple of days where you do work in the business, and maybe two days or even 80% of your week where you work on the business. It's also important to think about who is going to complete these daily tasks. Is there someone on your team, or an option to oursource? Alternatively, if you're running a one-man show, ask yourself how you'll be reminded to make sure everything gets done. Whether it's an analog calendar or task management software, find whatever works best for you. Weekly ReviewsOnce you have your daily tasks planned out, it can be really helpful to do weekly reviews on how things went. What lessons did you learn? Is there a process that needs tweaking? It's also a good opportunity to check in with your team, look over finances and review any projects. This practice allows you to stay organised, identify areas for improvement and ensure that everyone is on the same page. Regular ReportingSomething I do monthly is a memory clean for my computers. Removing unnecessary data and checking for manual updates can keep everything healthy and streamlined. Along with this, we do monthly reporting to look at social media analytics, subscriber count, cash flow and net worth. You can set your own frequency, however. Weekly, bi-monthly, quarterly - whatever works. By regularly reviewing these metrics, you can identify areas of growth, pinpoint any issues or bottlenecks, and make informed decisions to drive your business forward. Checking on Your Automated SystemsOne thing we didn't do so well in the business initially was regularly check over some of the automations we had set up. When our system broke and we didn't have a task to make sure everything was running smoothly, things got messy - things like missed payments and out-of-date client details. So not only do we now have automatic tasks that go to team members to check up on things, we have a backup task where every month we run a report to make sure everything is on track. This will give you so much peace of mind, knowing that your systems are still running efficiently even if your software glitches out.Remember, the key to a successful business is not only what happens on the front end, but also what happens behind the scenes. By prioritising business housekeeping, you can create a harmony in your work environment that allows you to focus on what truly matters – growing your business and achieving your dreams. So, take the time to implement these tasks into your routine and watch your business begin to truly thrive!LINKS:Join me in The Fierce SalonJoin me in The Bloom Business IncubatorWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

How to Extract Your unique Strategy for creating epic results

Do you want to know the secret to figuring out how to do something you've never done before and do it successfully? Today I'm talking about how big thinkers and dreamers navigate unchartered waters, create amazing things and achieve epic results. The truth is, there's no one size fits all approach. It's about uncovering your unique strategy and allowing that to shape every aspect of your decision making across all areas of your life. What is your unique meta strategy? After coaching for over 16 years now, something I've recognised to be incredibly powerful is when people uncover their unique meta strategy. Everyone has one, even if they don't know it. Your unique strategy is the underlying, high-level approach that you unconsciously use to achieve your goals. From buying a house to pursuing your biggest career dreams, every action is guided by a strategy unique to you.Don't follow someone else's strategyWhen we want to achieve something that we haven't done before, it's logical to look to other people for inspiration. How did they get there? What strategy did they use? It's natural to want a step by step guide on how to navigate a path you haven't walked before. But the problem with that is that it doesn't take you as a unique individual into consideration. It doesn't take into account the nuances of your past, your experiences, your successes up until this point, your passions or your values. What worked for them might not work for you.Another problem with simply following someone else's strategy is that most of the time, we don't see all the other work that goes on behind the scenes. We see a snapshot, the very last moments before the big win. We don't see the thought patterns, the experiences that have shaped that person's world view and how they landed on that strategy in the first place. Your strategy is as unique as your fingerprint. It's not about following someone else's footsteps or copying external strategies. Instead, it's about embracing what feels good for you and your individual approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and achieving goals. And, your unique strategy will apply to every area of your life. It's not something that will only apply to business or a specific industry so it needs to be vague enough to do so.Clarify, not createYour unique strategy isn't something you have to design or create. It's already there. Look back to times in the past when you have achieved something amazing or when something just flowed and felt good. It could be in any area of your life and they don't have to be related in any way. Think about your career, your relationships, travel adventures… anything. Once you've written down or talked through as many examples as possible, think about what you did to make them work. You'll discover common threads throughout all these experiences that form your unique strategy for creating epic results. It doesn't have to be complicatedMy unique strategy has four components: Go on adventures, do what feels fun, make new friends and express myself. This has absolutely nothing to do with business, and yet everything I create is based on this strategy. I hope this episode really inspires you to go back over your own experiences and successes to uncover your unique strategy. This has been a game changer in my life and in the lives of so many of my clients. The challenge isn't so much in understanding what your strategy is, but more so in trusting it.LINKS:Join me in The Fierce SalonJoin me in The Bloom Business IncubatorWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

My Coaching Philosophies You Can Steal for Leadership

At its heart, coaching is an art form. Whether you're a manager, leader, parent, counsellor, therapist, or coach in any capacity, the paradox lies in walking with someone through their journey, prioritising their autonomy and best interests, without dictating the outcome based on your opinions. As a coach and mentor, I've discovered that holding solid, personal coaching philosophies not only sharpens my ability to make quick, impactful decisions but also enables me to truly listen and place my client's needs ahead of what I think is best. Today I'm sharing 10 of my personal coaching philosophies, which I hope inspire you and get you thinking. People very rarely need or want what they think they need or want. In my experience, people often have a set idea of what they should want, but when you peel back the layers, you discover they genuinely want something different. Your job as a coach is to go deeper and uncover the true desire or necessity behind a goal.Your strategy as a coach is completely irrelevantJumping straight into strategies without aligning with the client's actual needs is a complete waste of time. Before you start any strategy, first get super clear on what the client really wants or needs.Chemistry is more important than strategyThe rapport between coach and client is far more crucial than any curriculum or strategy. Ultimately, coaching is an intimate container and trust needs to be built in order for any change to occur. Slow Down. Speed Up There's profound power in slowing down. It allows for clarity, deeper understanding, and contrary to how it might seem, you also reach your goals faster with less effort. It's not about slowing everything down no matter what, it's about taking considered action and wasting no effort. The curriculum is in the client The coaching agenda should emerge from your client's unique journey and discoveries, not the other way around. Life is always going to happen, and making space for nuances and varied experiences will always be a priority.Be willing to let your client hate you Sometimes promoting real growth means risking what someone thinks of you. A good coach or leader will set their ego aside act and speak out of integrity, even if it means saying something they might not want to hear. The more you live your life, the better a coach you will becomeCoaching comes down to listening and learning and the more life experience you have to draw from, the more you understand that you don't know it all. Listen well and empathise with people and from that place, you can offer a rich coaching experience.Make your wealth outside of your coaching business. This is quite a controversial opinion but in my business, I know that separating financial success from coaching outcomes helps me maintain integrity and truly focus on my client's success.Don't try to be a superhero. Aim to be unemployedA natural tendency as a coach is to want to cling to clients and make them need you forever. But a good leader will make themselves dispensable, aiming for a relationship where the client feels empowered to create long-term success without you.Coaching is learning from the past and creating the futureIf someone is stuck in the past, my goal as a coach is to bring them into the present. And if someone is anxious about the future, again the work is to bring them into the present. These philosophies are from my worldview and you might agree, you might not. Either way is completely fine but I do hope these principles inspire you to think deeper about your personal philosophies and how you might be able to unlock a greater sense of intention into what it is you do.LINKS:Join me in The Fierce SalonJoin me in The Bloom Business IncubatorWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

Trying harder is futile. Don't be the fly!

I want to share a life-changing story with you today which is the foundation of everything I do. It's a story from my favourite book, "You Squared" by Price Pritchett, about the futility of trying harder and why sometimes, we just need to look at things from a different perspective. We can all relate to those times in life and business when things just aren't working. No matter how much we push ourselves to work harder, be better and grind our way through, we just keep banging our heads against the same wall. We get exhausted and discouraged, spending all our energy and resources on trying harder without pushing the needle forward. For a lot of people, trying harder is the only solution they know. We've been taught not to give up, not to be weak and to just keep going when things are tough. And yes, there are times when we need to dig deep and work hard and there's a sense of reward in doing so. But if you've been working harder and harder and you're just not getting anywhere, this might be the perfect time to zoom out and find a different solution. I've experienced burnout firsthand, spending years feeling stuck until I realised that trying harder wasn't the answer. But this isn't just about burnout. This principle applies to any challenge you are facing or any time you want to take a leap to achieve something wonderful. When we learn to question our default mode of ‘trying harder', we open our minds to the possibility that there might be a more effective way to achieve our goals. It's about giving yourself permission for things to be a little easier, a little faster and done with a little less effort. It takes courage to change course and to consider doing the opposite of what you've always done. But sometimes, that's exactly what's needed to break free from the cycle of futile effort and embrace new possibilities. After listening to this episode, I invite you to reflect on where this pattern might be happening in your own life. What are the telltale signs that you're stuck in a cycle of trying harder but not getting results? By tuning in to your inner voice and being open to looking at things from a different view, you will discover an ease and way forward that you didn't know was possible. What got you here might not be the thing that will get you there. Maybe you actually need to do the opposite and you will achieve the same result without trying so hard.LINKS:Book mentioned: You Squared by Price PritchettJoin me in The Fierce SalonJoin me in The Bloom Business IncubatorWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

Which client are you? 2 types of resistance

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 16, 2024 35:27

Along every path toward creating or achieving something, there will at some point be invisible hurdles that keep us from moving forward. These moments of stagnation aren't just random misfortunes but the manifestations of resistance. So today I'm sharing with you one of the greatest secrets that I use in my coaching every single day to unblock resistance, struggle and the endless wheel spinning that can happen on our way to reaching goals and creating amazing things. There are two types of unconscious resistance to achieving a goal. Whether you're coaching yourself or someone else, part of your work as the coach is to determine which type of resistance a person is experiencing so that you know how to move through it. Resistance to ActionThe first form of resistance is the most familiar one – the resistance to taking action. This is where you know what needs to be done, but somehow, you find yourself doing everything but that. A big sign of this type of resistance is procrastination. You get lost in endless research or busying yourself with tasks that don't drive your goal forward. If you've identified that the resistance is toward taking action, here are three things you can do:Break down the task to tiny chunksIf you are overwhelmed, your tasks are too big. Break things down into very small tasks so they can be achieved in 10 minutes. All success is about taking lots of tiny little actions inside of a bigger goal.Don't do pointless mindset workInstead of doing mindset work on the massive goal, work only on the small task at hand. Doing mindset work on one specific area. This is about finding a way to connect how taking action on one tiny task is going to give you more of everything that is important to you and less of everything that you currently don't want. Accountability If you find you're not achieving what you set out to do, you're probably setting the bar too high and you need to lower it. Allow yourself to actually experience some wins because wins breed more wins. Accountability will bring you those wins if you combine it with taking tiny actions.Resistance to the ResultOn the flip side, there's a sneakier kind of resistance – resistance to the result, or as some might call it, the fear of success. It might sound paradoxical, why would anyone fear success? Yet, this type of resistance is deeply rooted in our subconscious fears and beliefs about what achieving our goals truly means. It embodies the fears of change, the unknown and what we might lose or sacrifice in the pursuit of our goals – even when we're outwardly working hard to achieve them. This type of resistance is likely when you have no hesitation toward take action and completing a task, but it feels like progress is never being made. It might feel ike it's been going on forever and you're just not satisfied with the progress that you're making. Here are three things you can do to move through this sneaky type of resistance:Identify your “interesting ideas”These are your subconscious fears and beliefs that act as barriers. Challenge these ideas one by one. Write them down and really dig deep to discover all the weird and interesting ideas you have about what success might look like. Create your own unique strategyOften people think that they need to change themselves in order to achieve new levels of success, but it's important to identify your unique traits that got you to where you are now. It's your authenticity that makes you stand out and be able to work consistently and sustainably towards your goals. Have a mission that trumps the howDouble down on teaching your nervous system that it's safe to have the result without needing to know all the things that are going to happen in between. Having a vision of where you want to go is a powerful practice and even further, allowing yourself to dream beyond your goal will make the original mountain seem like a mole hill. As you move forward, remember that every struggle against resistance is a stepping stone toward greater self-awareness and achievement. It's about unlocking a deeper understanding of yourself and how you interact with your goals. Everything you desire is closer than it seem – it's just about peeling back the layers of resistance that stand in your way.LINKS:Join me in The Fierce SalonJoin me in The Bloom Business IncubatorWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

The story of how my business started + 3 tips for sustainability

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 9, 2024 52:54

When you're at the beginning of your business journey, it can feel disheartening when you hear other entrepreneurs share their instant success stories. The truth is that the path to a sustainable business looks different for everyone. For me, it was slow and winding and I met some unexpected challenges along the way. But along the journey, I also experienced some profound personal growth and learned a lot about sustainability. My journey into coaching began in 2007 when I had an inspiring experience with a coach which resulted in me breaking a world record in martial arts. This experience completely changed my life and I was hooked. In 2008 I signed up for a coaching course and made the brave decision to quit my well-paying full-time job in interior architecture and focus on karate and coaching training. My boss thought I was crazy because it was also in the middle of a recession! After about three months, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and I hit rock bottom. I was coaching very sporadically and all I could do was focus on my health. From there it was a nuanced journey of recovery, finding different jobs, travelling the world and slowly building up my business to where it is today. Find your definition of sustainabilitySustainability in business isn't just about financial stability. You also need to think about your personal well-being and your capacity to continue doing what you love without risking burnout. It's about creating a business that not only supports your financial needs but also aligns with your values and lifestyle. That's why it looks different for everyone. There's no right or wrong strategy, it's more about understanding what's going to work for you. Your Energy is ParamountSustainability begins with you. If your business demands more than you can give, it's unsustainable. It's crucial to find a balance where your personal energy and the demands of your business coexist harmoniously. This balance ensures that you can continue to serve your clients and grow your business without compromising your health or happiness.Financial Management is KeyWhen I started my business, I was completely uninterested in tracking my money and actually had no idea what I was earning. Now, I understand that financial management isn't just the boring stuff, but a critical aspect of building a sustainable business. You need to ensure your business revenue covers your monthly expenses and know how long it takes to turn prospects into paying clients. Grasping these components enables you to plan better, reduce stress, and have a clearer picture of your business's financial health.Embrace Your Unique JourneyThe road to success isn't linear. It's filled with nuances, mistakes, and lessons that are unique to your context and circumstances. Embrace this uniqueness and allow yourself to move at your own pace. Whether it takes you months or years to reach your goals, what matters most is that you're building a business that truly reflects your values and dreams.LINKS:Join me in The Fierce SalonJoin me in The Bloom Business IncubatorWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

The irony is not lost on me that when I last shared on the podcast, I talked about staying consistent - and then stopped releasing podcast episodes for an entire year. But, business has been running along as usual this whole time and I've been consistent in other areas. So today I'm back to re-launch the podcast and update you on everything that's been happening behind the scenes. Social Media Hiatus In addition to pausing the podcast, I've also been completely off social media. Without going into the details, things were happening on the personal front as well as professionally, which led me to make the choice to scale back in order to preserve the quality of my work in other areas. Taking the 30,000 Foot ViewHaving run my own business for 16 years, I know why it's so valuable to understand the mechanics of business and how I can pull different levers at times to suit different stages and phases of business. We don't always have to do the things we think we do. I like to think of it as having a 30,000 foot view. When you're up high, you can see all the wheels and cogs working together and how different things affect each other. When you have that outlook, you know which leavers to pull during different seasons of your life so that your business can keep running without having to pour time, money and energy into every aspect. Booked Out Business Without Social MediaSomeone asked me the other day how I've managed to market my business without social media. The thing is, my business has been fully booked out working in a variety of ways with my existing clients. All I had to do was send two emails to my existing clients, offering personalised ways that I could keep working with them. Again, this is one of those levers that I knew I could pull and I've really enjoyed working with these clients during what was a challenging time on other fronts. Launching Programs for 2024As I make my grand return to the podcasting world, I'm also launching two coaching programs in the coming months. I'll soon be opening the doors to the ninth iteration of The Fierce Salon, which I'm really excited about. This program is for anyone in a leadership position who wants to go from good to great by letting go of what you no longer need and going to the next level.I'll also be launching The Bloom Business Incubator, which is my program for mission-based business owners who aren't yet making their first 5k to 10k months consistently and sustainably. This is a group coaching program where I'll be talking about taking that 30,000 foot view in business so you can make really strategic decisions. It's going to be amazing. I'm so excited to be back here with you all again. Remember, life's full of ups and downs, but it's how we navigate them that matters. 4 secrets to running a business when you have inconsistent energy

Do you often find yourself feeling drained and lacking motivation to work on your business, while other times you're full of energy and ready to conquer the world? We're often told that running a business requires consistent effort, but what do you do when your energy levels are all over the place? In this episode, I'm sharing 4 of my secrets to running a business when you have inconsistent energy. You don't need to force yourself and keep pushing through. Unavoidable things will happen and you'll need to take a break or recover from illness or help with family emergencies that pop up unexpectedly but if you set up your business using this framework, taking that time off won't be a problem. We'll explore different paths of growing a business because there is no one way that works for everyone. We'll take a look at what consistency actually means and how we can redefine it to work for you and your energy. I'll show you how to examine your schedule and re-plan your days from the viewpoint of you on your worst day - not your best. Lower those expectations! And then I'll take you through how I plant days and weeks into my own planning to ensure I have time and space to rest, recuperate, create or just be present. I also have some very useful questions at the end of the episode for you to jot down and reflect on to work out how you can run your business using your own unique rhythms and keep you motivated for long term success. Running a business with inconsistent energy levels requires flexibility and adaptability and if you plan for those dips in energy levels from the beginning, you can feel confident and reassured when you need to take time off. Neglecting your physical and mental well-being can further drain your energy, making it even more challenging to run a business. Make sure to prioritize your own self-care to boost your energy levels and maintain your overall well-being. LINKS:Join me in The Fierce SalonWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/                https://hayleycarr.tv/superfreak-podcast

How to have a winner's mindset - even when you're not feeling it.

Are you trying to grow your winner's mindset? Is it even worth your time and energy? In this episode, I'm going to challenge you to consider developing a winner's consciousness instead of a winner's mindset because it will keep you on the path of winning, even when you're not feeling it. A winner's consciousness is a way of thinking that focuses on growth, abundance, and possibility. This means embracing personal growth and focusing on the learning that happens as a result of failures and mistakes. When you view every challenge as an opportunity to learn more about yourself and improve your skills, you can turn setbacks into successes and continue to move forward towards your goals. So, do you have a winner's consciousness? Or, are you working towards something in your life, in your business, perhaps in your coaching or creative career, where you think it's a win or lose situation? Maybe you're launching a program and you feel like everything depends on this one thing working. You're forgetting that there will always be another opportunity. One of the most important aspects of having a winner's consciousness is being fully present in the moment. This means letting go of past failures or future worries and instead focusing on what you can do right now to move closer to your goals. By being fully present, you can take advantage of opportunities as they arise and make the most of every moment.Remember, developing a winner's consciousness is an ongoing process. It takes time and effort to shift your mindset from one of limitation and binary win-lose thinking to one of abundance and possibility. Listen to today's episode to learn how you can propel yourself further than adopting a winner's mindset to learning how to cultivate a winner's consciousness that will help you soak up every opportunity and succeed in business and in life.LINKS:Resources mentioned: Book: Flow: The Psychology of Happiness By: Mihaly CsikszentmihalyiThe Flow Consciousness InstituteJoin me in The Fierce SalonWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/                https://hayleycarr.tv/superfreak-podcast

Today I'm spilling the tea on a really big part of my coaching philosophy and the secret behind the scenes of what I'm doing with all of my clients inside of my coaching program. This secret allows my clients to make seemingly impossible results within a very short space of time. For instance, if you want to x5 your turnover while keeping the same cash profit margin or buy that unbelievably amazing dream house that was only ever a pipe dream. I've seen my clients inside The Fierce Salon achieve these remarkable results in only 6 months using this secret and now I want to share it with you! I'm going to teach you a whole new way of looking at the very popular philosophy - there's no such thing as failure, only feedback. I'll show you how to understand and bring your self-awareness into your own life to create incredible feedback. This episode will also transform the way you look at the word “strategy” and how to strategize in a repeatable and proven way that gets what you want for the rest of your life. Firstly, there are three different types of strategies: micro, macro and meta. Micro strategies are the small decisions we make daily that can have a big impact on our overall success. For example, deciding to wake up early or choosing to eat a healthy breakfast. These micro strategies can add up and have a significant impact on our lives and businesses.Macro strategies are the big-picture decisions we make that have a long-lasting effect. These macro strategies can have a profound impact on our future and are the vehicles to deliver us to our meta goals.Meta strategies are the overarching plans we create to achieve our long-term goals. They are made up of a series of micro and macro strategies that work together to achieve our desired outcome. These strategies are essential for success in both our personal lives and businesses. We'll explore how to take the emotion out of how we view ourselves and the labels we use, and look at undesired outcomes as symptoms of failed strategies. I'll take you through examples of how I've seen my clients use this secret to create amazing results and show you how you can use it across different aspects of your life. This is a mammoth masterclass episode and if you'd like to learn more, The Fierce Salon is open for enrollment and we're starting soon!  LINKS:Join me in The Plateau Playbook MasterclassCheck out my free Weekly Review Spreadsheet hereThe Fierce Salon - https://www.thefiercesalon.com/Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/                https://hayleycarr.tv/superfreak-podcast

It's full of wishing, hoping and visualisation and not being certain. Or we can become so fixated and we work ourselves so extremely hard that we end up feeling completely empty and not enjoying the process. In today's episode, I'm going to help you stop fixating over the outcome and to completely destroy the drama of the goal with my 42 reverse punch method that will help you actually get to WHO you want to become AND enjoy the ride. Everybody has a thing that they want. Take a moment to have a good think about it and don't lie to yourself. What characteristics do the people at the top of their game in this field embody? Or, what kind of characteristics do I know I need to embody?Outside of talent and the steps to get there, what are the tiny actions I could do every single day that I could track that would move the needle forward to becoming that person? How can I destroy this outcome to its most pure, raw 42 reverse punches form? I get asked this question all of the time in my group training programs so I thought it would be really fun and helpful to share it today with you. I know that often people think that the perfect marketing strategy or shiny new website will get you a whole heap of new clients but it's just one piece in a pie. You can have the most amazing marketing, but if you provide a terrible customer experience, your clients feel incredibly stressed working with you, all the payments are clunky, and your clients can't get in touch with someone - marketing will actually kill your business as fast as it grows. So today, I'm going to be sharing with you my experiences, how I've been trained and how I train my clients to think when looking for different places to find and enrol new clients. We'll go through how elements of high tech and high touch businesses can complement each other and 14 different ways to find new clients and start creating a customer experience. The first 10 don't even have anything to do with having the perfect marketing strategy or your message being super clear or designing the perfect website. I didn't have any of that for the first 4 years of my business, and when I got really caught up in needing to have that, my business drastically slowed down. I stopped doing all of the things that made my business work, like going out and having fun - I learned it's all about doing that combination of both high touch and high tech. In today's social media it often seems like you need to be the loudest and put so much of yourself out there…literally. But it's often the quiet, consistent things that make the biggest difference in people trusting and knowing you and feeling comfortable, safe and excited to work with you. Resources mentioned: The Prosperous Coach by Rich Litvan and Steve ChandlerLINKS:Check out my free Weekly Review Spreadsheet hereThe Fierce Salon - https://www.thefiercesalon.com/Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/

This system has been influenced by the Getting Things Done program by David Allen and my own coaching knowledge, experience and wisdom. I'll take you through the exact steps of how to do a weekly review and how you can tweak them to be specific for you because we're not all the same. Trust me, by dedicating an hour or two every week to reset, clear out your inboxes, clear desks, look back on what you've done, celebrate the wins, learn from the losses, look at what worked and planning your week ahead - you'll gain so much clarity around how you're spending your time, what you've accomplished and where you need to focus in the upcoming weeks. Life happens, stuff pops up and we get distracted. We're human! By incorporating a weekly review in, you'll be like a pilot constantly readjusting the flight path to stay on course. This is the best method I've found to take control and stop just ignoring things and hoping they go better next time. Today I have something special for you if you want to become more productive, more energized, more joyful, and want to live a meaningful life that is specifically designed for you. As creatives and high performers we tend to take on a lot of extra responsibilities and obligations because we don't want to let anyone down and often they're stressing us out and leaving us with no time to create. So how do we gain clarity around how we spend our time - by conducting an energy audit. I invite you to grab a pen and paper and listen in to do an audit on everything that is energizing you and everything that is draining you every day. When you see it all on paper, you can start to focus on the things that are energizing you and filling you with joy and fulfillment, start doing less of what drains you, or if you can't do less, intentionally shift your focus onto it to break it down so it doesn't overwhelm you. I managed to redesign my life and business when I did an energy audit and examine everything that energized me and everything that drained me and left me feeling exhausted. By making positive changes to how I structured my day, the environment I surrounded myself with and giving myself space to create, I was able to recover from almost three years of debilitating chronic fatigue and still be here running a business over ten years later. I'll run you through how to audit where you're spending your energy and time to creatively redesign your life and business. We don't have to follow society and work 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday! That's the wonderful and incredible thing about owning your own business or being a leader - you have the ability to decide what works for you. LINKS:The Fierce Salon - https://www.thefiercesalon.com/Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/

Did you slip up and get absorbed scrolling endlessly through Instagram looking at the constant posts about setting resolutions? Don't worry I'm here to help you unclench and start breathing again. This episode is for you if you want to start 2023 differently from every other year but don't know how to. You're probably already feeling stressed, stretched and worried that we're already in January and the year will zoom by. Did you know that all of us overestimate what we can do in one year and underestimate what we can do in five years? Why? Because our brains can't fully understand exponential growth and compounding interest. We need to look at achievement differently than the traditional, patriarchal and capitalist viewpoint and look at it as a journey of moving forward from just good to astonishment. This is the notion of compounding success where we see what's on the other side of each step and are super excited to move to the next level. I'll take you through how to understand compounding efforts, compounding effects and how these lead to success in your life. You can start to transform your entire life by taking your first steps in the next 90 days. 90 days is long enough for you to decide if you hate something, leave, quit, stop, come back, start again, make mistakes and achieve results. We'll explore how compounding efforts lead to big changes by focusing on the tiny little things you do every day. I'll take you through examples of how these compounding efforts lead to compounding success by showing you how real people have gotten there - it all starts with a tiny little step. And most importantly, don't get caught up in timelines, do what you can right now in this moment. So if you feel like you're already behind because it's January - take a moment and breathe. Remember that you have so much time. The Four reasons why someone says no to you or your work

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 4, 2023 25:28

As a coach, I have a lot of conversations with my clients about the offerings that they're putting out into the world. It is so exciting launching something new, running another round of a program or opening up a new way for someone to work with you, but how do you handle the inevitable rejection? You can feel like you're doing all the right things and It can be a real hit to the ego when your offer or service is met with a “no”. I want to remind you that there are a number of reasons why someone might say no, and it's totally okay. The four reasons I mention in today's episode are:They don't see the value. This could be because they don't fully understand your work, or because it doesn't align with their priorities. If this is the case, it's important to try and clearly communicate the value of your work and how it can benefit the person you're trying to work with. No connection to you. If you don't know the person well, they can't connect with you on social media or if you have different professional or personal interests, it might be difficult to get them on board with what you have to offer. They have to feel like they can relate to you in some way.The timing isn't right. The person you're trying to work with might be too busy with other commitments, or there might be other factors that make it difficult for them to work with you at the moment. In this case, it might be helpful to try and find out where they're at and follow up with them next time you're running the offer or program. It's just a no. Sometimes, people say no for no particular reason. It can be frustrating, but it's important to remember that everyone has their own priorities and motivations, and it's not always possible to understand why someone might not want to work with you. This is totally okay. Not everyone is going to be a yes!Just because someone says no doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. It could be one of the  four reasons I mentioned in today's episode, or something else entirely. The important thing is to keep an open mind and try to understand where the other person is coming from. Check in with your ego, and keep going. Your people are out there and if you're consistent, they'll find you.LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul. The Fierce Salon - https://www.thefiercesalon.com/https://hayleycarr.tv/self-coaching-giftWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

What's the thing you hear most about at the beginning of the year? New years resolutions right? As someone who is passionate about the topic of goal attainment, I'm telling you right now, don't bother. If you've made new years goals and resolutions, I'm telling you today why you need to throw them out the window and what you should do instead.Statistically speaking, only a tiny fraction of people actually reach their new years' goals. Most people plan according to their current reality and base what they think they can achieve on what they've done in the past. They think too small about what's possible in one year, and not big enough about what can happen in 10.We're going about it all wrong! So strap in, because in this episode, I'm out to ruin new years resolutions by letting you in on a superfreak secret. I share the 6 steps of a higher level framework that will help you plan without planning, be ambitious while remaining patient, and open to creating unexpected magic each and every day. The problem with new years resolutions is that they're an outdated plan. You won't be the same person in one year, let alone in one week. Today I talk about why you need to get clear on your desire and give yourself permission to want what you want, and to be open for that desire to change. And don't underestimate the power of visualisation - you need to feel that desire in your bones. Setbacks are inevitable - you should absolutely plan for those. And while you're at it, begin to reframe the stories that create internal resistance. I talk about living as if your dreams were already a reality and tracking the little things you do because these contribute greatly to your overall strategy for success. The big rule is don't stop. Keep doing what's within your power every single day and let the rest go. And even though you set an intention, focus on here and now with flexibility and openness and allow the magic to happen. Be patient, not passive because so much can happen in a year. Check in with yourself weekly, daily, moment to moment and be the person you want to be today, in whatever way you can. LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul. The Fierce Salon - https://www.thefiercesalon.com/https://hayleycarr.tv/self-coaching-giftWebsite: https://hayleycarr.tv/

This is my final episode for the year, so I wanted to take this opportunity to do a little review, letting you in on the thoughts, feelings, challenges, and the highs and lows of my year. If one word could sum up 2022, it's contraction. As much as I'm not a fan of new year's resolutions, I love a good personal review and do this on a very regular basis. I talk about staying focused, not making speculative decisions based on what has or hasn't happened and building on the momentum of the year by reviewing, learning, transcending and casting a vision forward.  Sometimes we're up and sometimes we're down. I talk about taking lessons from the past, including what worked and letting go of what didn't, viewing circumstances from a higher perspective. We don't know what the future brings, but remaining curious and open allows us to learn, and expand with every contraction. It's the end of the calendar year so, take a breath. No matter what has happened for you this year, if it was a fabulous year filled with prosperity or if you've been in the trenches, it's time to hit the refresh button. Celebrate, commiserate and move on.I'll be taking a short break over the holidays and back with a brand new episode in January 2023. These are all signs that there's something happening on the subconscious level. The amazing thing is, it doesn't have to take a giant amount of effort to push against your nature and make real change in your life. There is an easier way. In this episode, I'm talking about peeling back the layers and going directly to the source - our subconscious. I explain why success and failure aren't conscious and how effortless change can come about when we align our subconscious with where we want to go. Our subconscious mind makes up the majority of what controls our thoughts, actions, decisions and results. So if you're seeing negative patterns repeat themselves and you're trying to address the problem in the conscious mind, you're looking in the wrong place. I explore how the mind works to delete, distort and generalise information according to our filters and why everything flows effortlessly when you make changes on the subconscious level. What you believe about the world will create your future. I share some insights about the reticular activating system and the importance of looking at the patterns that are present in your life. The best investment of time and energy you can give yourself is to start looking at the source. The more you can change subconsciously, the more effortless it is to create what you really want moving forward. LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul.Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/

We don't rise to the occasion, we sink to the level of our training. You might have heard this before, it can be said in many different ways.We can rise to the occasion but I'm asking you not to. Why? Because, as you'll learn from this episode, too much pressure for too long causes really big problems. Problems like burnout, exhaustion, anxiety, depression, diabetes, and heart disease. All kinds of problems! But there is one thing that can help and that is preparation. So many people go all in - burn their bridges, quit their jobs and shut everything off. And when our safety net gets taken away gravity changes. Adrenaline and pressure increase. We make decisions from a place of panic and fear. It can impact us in ways we can't really predict or understand.I talk about how to avoid the pressure of the gravity change, and what to do if you're already in that situation.Importantly, I take you through how to reframe pressure You can use pressure as an ally and a tool for peak performance. I explain how to do that by frontloading pressure - intentionally and on purpose.I share three ways of doing this:Simulate the real thingThink about the ways it could go wrong and simulate thoseSeek out uncomfortable situations and experiences that will grow you as a human. If something feels scary and exciting at the same time. If it terrifies you and it turns you on. Do it.We don't rise to the occasion. We can, but that's unsustainable. We sink to the level of our training. That's what superfreaks do. If you want to continue to improve your life, income, career, happiness and health sustainably, for the rest of your life, know this - intentional discomfort is the way to do it. When you have Imposter Sydrome, empowerment won't cut the mustard. Here's what you need.

I have a lot of conversations with my high performing clients about imposter syndrome and often these clients don't even identify as being high performers because of this issue. So today I'm tackling the topic of imposter syndrome and, as usual, I'm doing it in a way that you might not expect. One way to look at imposter syndrome is that you just have an outdated idea of who you are. You're still thinking about yourself as the way you were before and you need to update that picture of yourself. Shifting this mindset is important but there's more to it than that. There's so much talk in the online space about empowerment these days. But if you feel like an imposter when you're with an intimidating person, you're faced with a challenging circumstance or a confronting conversation, empowerment in itself won't do anything. What you need is skill. In this episode, I talk about what happens when people try to replace skill with empowerment and why we need to focus on developing empowerment through finessing a skill. Empowerment without skill is just hope, and hope in itself won't get you anywhere when you're under pressure. True power is born out of skill plus empowerment. If you can combine the understanding that you might have an outdated idea of yourself with the willingness to be constantly upskilling, you will have leverage when it comes to high stake circumstances and rise to the top effortlessly. That's how genuine empowerment is fortified. LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul.Register for my FREE 2 day live event Play Bigger Feel Better Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/

16 signs you need a holiday, and 5 ways it will make you money

I am just back from a delicious three-week trip to the United Kingdom, to see my gorgeous friend get married and a side trip adventure to Scotland. It was wonderful. My husband and I ate cream tea, drank whiskey in bars, explored castles and did long beautiful drives (as well as picked up some cool new sayings along the way).I am someone who, probably much like you, finds a lot of meaning, new perspectives, inspiration, energy, flow and mindfulness through travel and adventure. Travel makes you rich in memory and experience. And because we're getting to the end of the year, when things get a little bit frantic, this is your reminder to book yourself a holiday. There are two reasons for this. First up - you need to front-load, that is, put the things you know you need to take care of yourself into your calendar before you start committing to everything else. Make your business and career work around your life, not life work around your business. Second, is the s-word - space (not sleep, though I'm guessing you might need that too).Even better, guess what?! Taking holidays actually makes you money. I take you through the five reasons it actually gives back more than what you invest in it.And if that doesn't convince you, I have 16 signs that you need a holiday. I have a feeling many of you will tick almost all of these.Rest is one of the greatest acts of rebellion and I take this very very seriously. It is a non-negotiable aspect of life in business. By the end of this episode, you will understand why.LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul.Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvThe Business of You: https://hayleycarr.tv/business-of-youInternational Women of Mystery: https://hayleycarr.tv/international-women-of-mystery NLP Training: https://hayleycarr.tv/nlp-trainingThe Fierce Salon: https://hayleycarr.tv/fierce-salon-coachingSuperabundant:   https://hayleycarr.tv/superabundantSelf Coaching: https://hayleycarr.tv/giftSelf-Hypnosis Workshop: https://hayleycarr.tv/hypnosis

In this episode, I encourage you to think about creating authentically - from your own inner desires, wants, values, time, energy and body. I use creating a coaching practice as an example but this can be applicable to anything.I spent a lot of time in the early days of my coaching practice, doing things a certain way because that was how I thought they should be done. But what I have found more than anything, is that when I can tailor an experience for a client that suits me, it's a hell yes for me and it's a hell yes for my client. If I had been paying attention to the rules, many of the containers and connections that I have created in my practice would never have happened. The more you can create outside of the rules, while still keeping the parts that are important, the more likely you are to create something that is outstanding, long-lasting, memorable and something that people will treasure and truly value. So I invite you to consider - what are the rules and are these actual rules? Is that how it needs to be?Shaking up your belief system like this and letting go of the rules is how you will craft the thing you most crave.LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul.Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvThe Business of You: https://hayleycarr.tv/business-of-youInternational Women of Mystery: https://hayleycarr.tv/international-women-of-mystery NLP Training: https://hayleycarr.tv/nlp-trainingThe Fierce Salon: https://hayleycarr.tv/fierce-salon-coachingSuperabundant:   https://hayleycarr.tv/superabundantSelf Coaching: https://hayleycarr.tv/giftSelf-Hypnosis Workshop: https://hayleycarr.tv/hypnosis

I don't know who needs to hear this today but the things that are going on in your life right now, that are distracting you from achieving what you're working towards? They are not distractions - they are diamonds. And they may just have the medicine you need. The purpose of this episode is to help you see that every single thing that comes up along the road is part of the curriculum. If you can learn to be with life, alongside with achieving big things, you will create those big things sustainably and your life will be better off.I used to make the mistake of setting a goal and putting the whole rest of my life on hold. I would ignore red flags, cast aside uncomfortable feelings, push my relationship to the side, all for the sake of being able to achieve my goal. Often I would achieve the goal, but I would be clawing myself over the finish line because I had pushed myself too hard and ignored other parts of my life.If you can learn to be with life, alongside with achieving big things, you will create those big things sustainably and your life will be better off.The invitation is to slow down, in order to speed up. Honour the fact that your whole life is happening, and it is certainly not a distraction, it is the curriculum.LINKS:The Fierce Salon. Better sex with NLP

Today we are getting super freaky talking sex and Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). That's right folks, it's not reserved for formal coaching situations - NLP transcends everything we do.If you've never heard of NLP before I take you through exactly what it is, specifically the neuro component, the linguistic part and the programming bit. NLP is a way of understanding how we perceive the world, how we take in information, how we mess with it in our minds and how we put it back out in the world in the form of our experience, results, decisions, behaviours, thoughts and beliefs.I'm really excited to deliver this episode because I believe that NLP can be such a powerful way to enhance your experience of intimacy and connection in your relationship. Also - sex doesn't have to be on the table for you to get something from this episode. You can apply these principles to a relationship with yourself as well.We discuss values, understanding complex equivalences, attraction and deep love strategies and exploring and deepening shared goals. We also explore anchoring and how to utilise this in the three stages of sex - initiation, escalation and climax.Sex and NLP are intricately linked, just like NLP is linked to absolutely everything! Whether sex is on the table or not, no matter who you are and what you're going through, it is safe and wonderful for you to feel pleasure.LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul.Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvThe Business of You: https://hayleycarr.tv/business-of-youInternational Women of Mystery: https://hayleycarr.tv/international-women-of-mystery NLP Training: https://hayleycarr.tv/nlp-trainingThe Fierce Salon: https://hayleycarr.tv/fierce-salon-coachingSuperabundant:    https://hayleycarr.tv/superabundantSelf Coaching: https://hayleycarr.tv/giftSelf-Hypnosis Workshop: https://hayleycarr.tv/hypnosis

I really believe everyone can learn the skills of coaching and that if everyone had these tools, and the ability to practice them, the whole world would benefit. However, having a successful coaching practice is an interplay of factors that go beyond being an incredible coach. The way I perceive it, there are three layers to a successful coaching business - 1) you and your own genius/niche, 2) understanding the way the subconscious mind works and 3) the business of coaching.Understanding these three wheels is powerful when it comes to growing and expanding your business, your ability to hold space for people, amplifying your visibility, finding your perfect clients and developing and honing your business skills. If you are someone who loves coaching and wants to grow a coaching business, you'll find it really useful to learn about these three parts. Not only will you understand what goes into developing and honing your craft, but it will also help you plot what your next move might be.LINKS:Uplevel with the Be Your Own Coach NLP Immersive - an NLP Certification Course with Soul.Website: https://hayleycarr.tv/Instagram: @hayleycarr.tvThe Business of You: https://hayleycarr.tv/business-of-youInternational Women of Mystery: https://hayleycarr.tv/international-women-of-mystery NLP Training: https://hayleycarr.tv/nlp-trainingThe Fierce Salon: https://hayleycarr.tv/fierce-salon-coachingSuperabundant:   https://hayleycarr.tv/superabundantSelf Coaching: https://hayleycarr.tv/giftSelf-Hypnosis Workshop: https://hayleycarr.tv/hypnosis

I want to talk with you about a conversation I have with pretty much everyone I've ever worked with as a coach - what's really happening when your hard work isn't paying off?You can really start to question yourself here. Are you doing it right? Are you nuts for wanting it in the first place? The self-talk comes in at this point, and it can really alter your direction. You can choose to buy into those thoughts or you can keep going. In the world of high-performance (be it business, sport, life) - there is a point where the hard work is being put in, and it hasn't quite paid off yet, and we start to question ourselves. This is the tipping point. And we have to be willing to go through that tipping point in order for it to start paying off. However - this is where people will often stop, because it's really uncomfortable. In this episode I explore the seven fundamental things that are going on when our hard work isn't paying off, and what you can do about them.I am so excited to be back with you and I hope this episode helps you, especially if you're right in the middle of that tipping point.
