This episode we go a little deeper catch up on all things happening brain body and business. A little bit on breathing but really zeroing in on Plateauing and Mediocrity.Brain- Not too much on brain this week, although I did start talking a little bit about brain science and a new book that I am reading and how complex the brain really is. Still really digging into a user's Guide to the Brain.Body-  Of course breathing continues to be a theme, less so in this episode it's really more about optimizing. A little bit on peloton as I approach day 100 next week. Business - chat a bit about what consistency really means because everybody says it over and over but I think there is room for interpretation and a slow growth track towards being consistent and what we do as individuals. The TL;DR:This episode is a lot on Plateauing and Mediocrity and not settling how to kind of break through that bullshit and take back control. We all do it and it's good to kind of reassess from time to time in various parts of our lives.I think in general there is an awareness we all have about the importance of breathingThere are little things we can all do to help improve the overall quality of our lives but also our blood flow and circulationI  briefly mention the power of collaboration especially in business.Dysgraphia and is it possible that some thing I might be or have been dealing with unknowingly.Ice Barrel, because cold showers are cold enough it's time to step up my game. All three sections brain body and business are intertwined in this week's episode again, I talk a bit about social media in relation to brain body & business. I bring up something that's been on my mind a lot with the breathing is that because people are so specialized nobody actually specialized and breathing but it's a vital function that gets lost in the medical community. It's basically a case for filling in gaps between bigger niches there's even a smaller subset sometimes. The TL;DR:This episode is a little scattered because of the short week and I'm just trying to build momentum and consistency so a lot of this week is kind of a continuation or a tangent of last weeks episode. Full disclosure halfway through my phone so it's going crazy in the studio and I get a little distracted but it's still a good episode with lots of info and things to think about!I think in general there is an awareness we all have about the importance of breathingThere are little things we can all do to help improve the overall quality of our lives but also our blood flow and circulationI touch on some of the lesser known tangents and related topics to breathing as well.Ice Barrel, because cold showers are cold enough it's time to step up my game. All three sections brain body and business are intertwined in this week's episode again, I talk a bit about social media in relation to brain body & business. In episode 33,  We recap the last show a last week and everything in between since episode 32!Continuing with the broader theme of brain, body, and business and what that all means and entails. This episode really focuses on breathing awareness and both the benefits of breathing better but also some of the hidden things we don't realize and often take for granted because as long as we're breathing we think we're good but we may be causing harm to our bodies! This is definitely a deep dive into breathing and kind of my journey but also it is more of a storytelling so that more awareness around this is brought to light because I think it is really misunderstood and beneficial for people to learn more about going forward! Breathing will not fix everything in your life but you'd be surprised how the simple act could really change a lot of things that may be difficult or of concern potentially now or down the road. The TL;DR:This episode is really deep dive about different topics around breathing mostly around the information I've been reading and various books and online.I think in general there is an awareness we all have about the importance of breathingThere are little things we can all do to help improve the overall quality of our lives but also our blood flow and circulationI touch on some of the lesser known tangents and related topics to breathing as well.Brain SegmentBody Segment- Business Segment- All three sections brain body and business are intertwined in this weeks episode. First two are critical to being able to even touch on the third hence this weeks kind of intertwined discussion. Without a healthy body and mind or a plan to continuously improve those to business is almost irrelevant but we touch on all of them this week as usual. After this episode the format will be a lot like it was later last year and I will try to stick to weekly episodes moving forward this year with a little more format than in the past but that could definitely change as well!I don't have a lot of super planned out resolutions but I like the idea of words because I have 18 of them tattooed on my body and my words to focus on for me this year our Love and Swagger. I get into a little bit of how those came about and I'm sure they will come up more throughout the year!I don't generally believe in the new year new me bullsh*t but that being said I like the idea of having a little bit more focus and refining my business and process with things as they unfold throughout the year! In this episode I discuss a little bit about the 20th anniversary tomorrow of 9/11/2001I talk about value and the perception, intentions, how different words can impact people differently it's all very subjective! The point is you will hear various experts, give their two cents including myself at times. But I think staying true to what you believe is valuable to yourself to your friends to your family to your audience to whom ever you are speaking to remains important. We don't always nail it, and that's OK. I think the point is to just keep trying, getting up when we fall down and learning from mistakes. There is no playbook for 99% of life and even if there was every single person would likely have a different variation of that playbook!A couple links to reference from mentions in this episode:Stanley Henry's post:https://www.linkedin.com/posts/stanley-henry_ked-activity-6841852798716522496-PsteAriel's  profile:https://www.linkedin.com/in/edjariellee/Tom's ProfileL:https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-broxham/And of course you can always follow me here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/imbigwill/

We hear people talking about being  our "authentic self" all the time but what does that really mean? There is no cookie-cutter solution or formula to follow there are just some steps that I recommend taking a look at once you've decided that you are ready to explore! Not everybody will have the same journey or path, but in order to find your authentic self and truly love and appreciate yourself and all your uniqueness, these are some of my suggestions, to help you get started!Whether you should or shouldn't that is entirely up to you! From my experience it has been hard work and rewarding but just because everybody else is talking about it doesn't necessarily mean it's right for you right now at this moment in time that's only something you can decide for yourself! Hope you find this episode helpful and enjoyable and I'll be back later this week!!

In this Disruptive Impact Episode, I start off by apologizing for the poor audio quality in Tuesday's episode apparently some things got off track over the summer but I think everything is back in order! The focus on this episode is do you have to be likable to be a good leader? That is dependent on so many factors, however to keep it simple I think the answer when you think about the question further is absolutely. Here are my thoughts on why and I pose the question to listeners what do you think about it from another perspective how does it resonate for you? This came up again recently in conversation and somebody asked a really poignant question that I hadn't thought about previously. Have you ever had or worked for or alongside of a leader you didn't like? If you didn't like the person where are you doing your best work or were you truly engaged and inspired?I thought it was a great question and it really got me thinking a little bit differently about my previous lens.(initially likability didn't resonate with me as much as I realized later)You may not like every decision somebody makes, there are times unexpected and unforeseen things happen in life. Every leader along the way is likely to make a mistake or say something out of character so you have to look at the overall body of work in my opinion! When I reframed what likability meant to me, my initial stance changed, but more importantly I think it evolved with more careful consideration and a little bit of different thinking or perspective shifting.Think about your own experiences and when have you been at your best working for yourself or alongside another team or group or leader, did you feel:✨Motivated ✨Inspired✨Respected✨Positively Impacted ✨Autonomy✨Provided a safe environment to fail and learn and grow?✨Were Trust,Transparency, and Integrity were valued and present?✨Did you feel heard?Sometimes we can overcome bad bosses, but typically that is short-lived and not a viable long-term solution, not to mention a burden to our mental and physical health! This is by no stretch a comprehensive list of traits or qualities of great leaders, just merely some thoughts to get you thinking? Curious to hear your thoughts and if you have ever had a particular stance on something and then changed your mind over time? The more I thought about this question from this perspective, truth is I do think the best leaders have a lot (and are at least growing towards all of) these qualities. The truth is I think I have never worked harder than for the people I truly liked and respected! If you want to learn more check out my post on LinkedIn....https://www.linkedin.com/posts/imbigwill_leadership-leadershipdevelopment-becurious-activity-6836362945463746560-6eZd

I think empowering women and trying to figure out how I can help support is something I really want to explore further I'm not exactly sure what that looks like how I can be most helpful and impactful but it is definitely something I am interested in for a whole ton of reasons! That's probably a lot to do with my upbringing and having a strong mother and strong sisters and an amazing wife and daughter so I want to be a role model for my younger boys so that they can also learn and grow to be amazing young men, While supporting their friends and the women in their lives. I know that's a lot of rambling but I really just always feel inspired by the women in my life so I want to get back in anyway I can. I have of course a bunch of books this week but I would say a really good one for everyone to check out is the moment of lift by Melinda Gates. Also in the podcast world I would definitely check out Brené Brown's Dare to Lead, Episode two of a two part series with Dr. Susan David is really excellent I highly recommend it please check it out as well!
