Knowing God's Word Is Great, But Obeying God's Word Is Most Important. Matthew 4:3-4 3The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” 4Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' ”
ThereforeAugust 3, 2025 • Greg Pinkner • Romans 3:21-26, Romans 12:1-4Jesus's central message was "repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand," calling us not just to change our behavior, but to be spiritually reborn. Sin is not simply bad behavior but missing the mark of perfectly loving and glorifying God, which no one can achieve apart from Christ. Spiritual disciplines like prayer, worship, and study are not ends in themselves, but tools to abide in God's presence and be transformed by His grace. The Christian journey is not about religious performance, but a deepening life with God through the gospel, revealing both the depth of our need and the vastness of His love.WEBSITE: https://fellowshipknox.org/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/fellowshipknox/

My free will is allowing God's will - By Pastor Kobus Massyn John 18:1-11 1When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it. 2Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. 3So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. 4Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” 5“Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) 6When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?” “Jesus of Nazareth,” they said. 8Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” 9This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.” 10Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.) 11Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?” Luke 22:47-51 47While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49When Jesus' followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” 50And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. 51But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man's ear and healed him. Exodus 21:6 'Then his master shall bring him to God [that is, to the judges who act in God's name], then he shall bring him to the door or doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl (strong needle); and he shall serve him for life. Matthew 6:14-15 'For if you forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins], your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others [nurturing your hurt and anger with the result that it interferes with your relationship with God], then your Father will not forgive your trespasses. ' Colossians 1:14 'In whom we have redemption [because of His sacrifice, resulting in] the forgiveness of our sins [and the cancellation of sins' penalty]. ' 2 Peter 1:5-9 5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

Are you someone who claims to know God, love Him, and believe in Him? If so, can you prove it? It's easy to make such claims, but proving one's faith requires more than words. Thankfully, we can learn from John, one of Jesus' disciples, on how to prove our faith. By asking ourselves the right questions and following his lead, we can demonstrate to the world that our faith is not just mere words, but rather, it's a tangible truth that can be proven.1 John 1:1-4Jesus has always existedJesus proves who He is in personJesus changes us foreverJesus came to us for usJoy = a deep seated pleasure. Apenas curou alguns doentes, impondo-lhes as mãos. 6E admirou-se com a falta de fé deles. Centered, Day 1By Jason Brown, from the book Centered: Trading Your Plans for a Life That MattersWhen you look at the Bible, you may find that not many of its stories focus on rich people. If God's own plans were governed by spreadsheets, you'd think Jesus would've surrounded Himself with rich disciples who could fund His travels, not poor fishermen who couldn't pay their taxes. Joseph's family was relatively wealthy back in the day, but it was only when they were poor—when Joseph's brothers came to Egypt begging for food—that they had a chance to see Joseph's own amazing, miraculous story. Don't misunderstand: God uses rich people too. But the poor have a chance to see God operate more powerfully and intimately. They lean on Him because they don't have their own resources to use as a crutch. After retiring from the NFL, I thought I'd never be hurting for money again. I was wrong. I lost almost everything through circumstances beyond my control. I know what it's like to have a big bank account. I know what it's like to live a comfortable life. Those who follow a prosperity-gospel form of Christianity believe that God wants us to be comfortable and that He'll provide us the means to find us that comfort. They think, Oh, I'm going to follow Jesus all the way to a comfortable life. But that's not what Jesus says at all. He tells us, “Look, if you're going to be My disciple, you're going to have to measure the cost.” Even Jesus—the very Son of God—wasn't comfortable in His time on earth. He wasn't looking for comfort. He had a job to do. In the last several years, I've learned that having favor from God is worth more than gold and silver. Having that favor—having a real relationship with Him—is priceless, because God is always batting a thousand. I'd never want to go back. I would much rather be in the position I'm in right now: praying to God every single day for my manna, praying for my daily bread. Because when my worldly blessings were gone, the floodgates of heaven were opened for miracles. Through it all, I learned I don't need an abundance; just give me what I need. How does having less money than you think you need give you opportunities to trust God instead, for what you truly need? For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.Genesis 45:6-7The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.Exodus 16:3-4Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”Luke 9:58And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn't able to finish.'“Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won't he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.Luke 14:27-33
Christianity 101 episode #2 There are 4 disciplines that the early church practiced. 1.Apostles teachings2. Fellowship3. Breaking of bread4. Prayer This week we will cover 2 of the 4 disciplines found in Acts 2:42 The Disciplines Part 1: Apostles teachings, Fellowship.Acts 2:42 - They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. We can break down this verse into 4 specific points of distinction in which the early church devoted themselves to practice regularly:1. Apostles teaching2. Fellowship3. Breaking of bread4. Prayer In context – Acts chapters 1 & 2: · Jesus has been resurrected, he has appeared to them for a period of about 40 days (eating with them, teaching them & preparing them for what was next). · Jesus gives them the promised Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4).o Passover Jesus gives His life > Pentecost He gives them the Holy Spirit (Pentecost in the GK: means 50th day) they were gathered together in an upper room (about 120 people). The Pentecost was a required feast that was in remembrance of the giving of the Law. The significance of this feast is that the HS would now become the means of a believer to follow and obey the Lord rather than a system of Law. The next required feast would be the feast of Trumpets (which coincides with the rapture) > The birth of the Church. · Peter preaches the first Evangelistic Sermon and we are told that about 3,000 new converts are added to their number (acts 2:40-41). Acts Chapter 2 takes us through about a 1½ -2 years after the resurrection. Acts chapter 3-7 conspire over about 4-5 years, in fact when you get to chapter 5:1-11 it could be as much as 6 or 7 years after Christ's ascension. I mention all of this because in just a short few years we get a glimpse into the lives of the new believers and make observations to draw from and apply to our own lives. Acts 2:42 is a statement that we can use as a sort of blueprint for life inside the church! Remember that when you get to Acts 2:42 the church has grown to over 3,000 people which happened nearly instantly. #1 Apostles Teaching/Doctrines: 2Tim. 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, Q: What are the Apostles teachings/Doctrines? A: The Apostles teachings are the message of Jesus, His redemptive work, and His call to selfless discipleship that is found in the books of the New & Old Testament. There are 3 ways that the scriptures are used to represent “Apostles Doctrines”1. The Old Testament predicted Jesus' coming2. The gospels presented Jesus3. The epistles practiced Jesus' teaching and continued to proclaim the truth The Old Testament use:The OT is pointing toward Jesus while the NT is the display of Jesus. 3 examples of use of the OT found in the NT1. Found in the Gospels used by Jesus Himself: Luke 24:25-27 - He (Jesus) said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!26Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?”27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. Jesus used the OT from beginning with Moses and all the prophets concerning himself! Jesus often used OT scriptures during His ministry when interacting with different groups like the Pharisees, Sadducees or the Scribes. (Incidentally the best part of Luke 24 is the response to Jesus after they receive all this great teaching from Him. [Luke 24:31 - They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”] 2. Used by Peter in the first ever public sermon (resulting in over 3,000 being saved). Acts 2:14-40 (to long to read) Peter sites 3 different OT verses to explain Jesus to the crowd. Joel 2:28-32,Psalm 16:8-11, Psalm 110:1 (all of these are prophetic and messianic in nature) 3. Stephen (Acts 7 uses virtually all of the history of Israel, starting in Genesis at the call of Abraham.) He ends by quoting Isaiah 66:1 - This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be? The uses of Old Testament scriptures were to reveal Jesus and the promise that God would provide a messiah. Letters used in the New Testament from the original Apostles:Criteria to be considered for acceptance into the NT Canon of scripture: Acts 2:42 is a reference to the original eyewitness accounts of Jesus by the 12 apostles. This “doctrine” consisted of their first-hand reports of His life, teachings, death, and resurrection (4 Gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke & John). This was, at first, an oral message spread by the Twelve and those that heard them. It was later written down in what we know as the four gospels. Paul's writings were later added to this original testimony (13 total letters) (Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 &2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon), with the addition of James, Jude, Hebrews, 1 & 2 Peter, 1, 2, & 3 John , and Revelation these became into what we know as the New Testament canon. 2Tim. 1:13 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.Psa. 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.Matt. 4:4Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.''”Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.Heb. 2:1 We mu...
– Palavra do Senhor. – R. Evangelho: Marcos 6,1-6 Aleluia, aleluia, aleluia. Minhas ovelhas escutam minha voz; / eu as conheço e elas me seguem (Jo 10,27). Apenas curou alguns doentes, impondo-lhes as mãos.

– Palavra do Senhor. Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: “See that you don't tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing,as a testimony to them.” Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. And a very good morning to you. I greet you in Jesus's precious name! It is Wednesday morning, 10th August, the year 2022 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.“You number my wanderings;Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?”Psalm 56:8Oh, Jesus knows every tear you have ever shed since the day you were born. Then we go to the Book of Revelation, the last book in the Bible:“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4Jesus knows what you and I are going through and what we have been through. Every painful experience we have been through, He was there with us. He has put all our tears into His bottle and they are written into His book. Our God is a God of great compassion. Jesus wept more than He laughed when He walked on this earth - He really does understand our pain and our suffering. I don't know what it is that you are going through at this very moment but He knows, tell Him about it. You see, He wept when He saw how distraught Mary and Martha were at the death of their brother, Lazarus. John 11:35:“Jesus wept.”Now, He was coming into Bethany... He knew that He was going to call Lazarus out of the tomb and yet He still wept because He saw how much suffering they were enduring. We ask ourselves the question, “But how much does Jesus really care?” Well, we just need to look at His Hands, we need to look at His Feet and we need to look at His Side - wounded for our sakes, that's how much He cares. Not only does He care, He also understands. People are desperate for love and when they are hurting, they do not want to hear preaching, they do not even want scripture verses... What do they want? They want tears of love. You know, my dear old mom who has gone to be with Jesus many, many years ago, when I was a little boy, I was quite sickly and often during the night, my mom would come and she would sit with me. She would rub my chest with ointment and she would speak kind words to me. She would sit with me. If I was suffering from a fever she would put a damp cloth on my brow, I remember it so well. Why did she do that? Because she understood, my mom was also a very sickly woman herself. Today, let us weep with those who are weeping and let us have compassion with those who are suffering - but don't forget to tell them that the best is yet coming. Jesus is going to wipe away all those tears and He is going to fill us with peace and joy and love when we are united with our loved ones.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

Are you tired? Are you anxious? Are you worried about the end of the world?Yeah, me too.Jesus talks about this. A Lot. And he talks about bread. But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” Matthew 4:4Jesus talks a whole lot about bread. He even did a HUGE miracle feeding 5000+ people with bread. What's the big deal about bread? And what does that have to do with being anxious and worried?----Thanks for listening! At Church Public we create compelling content to equip you to follow Jesus and engage in the public square.Find Me:Website: churchpublic.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ChurchPublic/Twitter: https://twitter.com/churchpublicInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/churchpublic/Today is a great day to start your own podcast. The temptations of Jesus, a challenge for Jesus, may not seem like a challenge to us who have heard the story time and time again. Is it so hard to resist not worshipping Satan, or throwing yourself off a cliff? Listen as the temptations of Jesus are brought forward to our time, and we see a champion who faced every temptation we face, and in our place, remained the Undefeated Champion. Wield the Sword of the Spirit Luke 4:1–13 (EHV) Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, 2where he was tempted by the Devil for forty days. He did not eat anything during those days. When they came to an end, he was hungry. 3The Devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” 4Jesus answered him, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.'” 5The Devil led him up to a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6The Devil told him, “I will give you all this power and the glory of these kingdoms, because it has been entrusted to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. 7So, if you worship me, it will all be yours.” 8Jesus answered him, “It is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'” 9The Devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the pinnacle of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here, 10because it is written: He will command his angels concerning you, to protect you. 11And, they will lift you up with their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” 12Jesus answered him, “It says: ‘You shall not test the Lord your God.'” 13When the Devil had finished every temptation, he left him until an opportune time.
John 2-1-11(EHV) Three days later, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus' mother was there. 2Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. 3When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, “They have no wine.” 4Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My time has not come yet.” 5His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6Six stone water jars, which the Jews used for ceremonial cleansing, were standing there, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. 7Jesus told them, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. 8Then he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” And they did. 9When the master of the banquet tasted the water that had now become wine, he did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew). The master of the banquet called the bridegroom 10and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have had plenty to drink, then the cheaper wine. You saved the good wine until now!” 11This, the beginning of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
It is Thursday morning, 11th November, the year 2021, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day.“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it”Luke 14:28Rather don't start if you have no intention of finishing. Remember, no one is interested in good starters. It is good finishers that folk are looking for these days.“I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.” John 17:4Jesus finished the work that His Father sent Him to do. It is 'Mission Accomplished' - He finished the job. Now maybe this morning you are listening to this message and you're wondering whether you should continue with your university studies because it is getting very tough. It is getting very steep - the mountain is getting very hard... Keep on keeping on, you will finish it. Maybe it is a business that you have just started and you are saying: “I don't know if I can complete this.” If God has called you to do it He will give you the strength and the courage to finish. Maybe you are struggling in your church, as a pastor, and you just wondering, “Is it going to work or not?” Keep on preaching the Gospel. I remember going to Ladysmith for the first campaign I had ever organized in 1989. That first night I thought, “Lord I am going to preach.” There was nobody in the hall, it was empty! I was down, underneath, praying and at 7 o'clock I came up and I said: “Lord, I will preach to the chairs.” I think God sent some angels because the hall was half-full and we had the most incredible meeting. By the end of the week, it was full. Maybe it is your marriage today. Maybe you are struggling in your marriage and you say, “Angus, we just can't get on..." You have to, you made a covenant - You made a commitment. Finish the job! Some of us don't realize just how close we are to the finish line. Maybe it is just around the next corner.Keep on running. Keep your eyes on the Lord, He will give you the strength to finish the job. Have a blessed day.God bless you and goodbye.
Jesus is willing to heal you: Matthew 8:1-4Jesus had just spoken to a large crowd of people and was walking down a mountain when he was approached by a leper. The leper came and worshipped Jesus saying, “Lord if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched the leper, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leper was cleansed and all of his leprosy was gone. Jesus told him not to tell anyone, but go show himself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them. Leprosy was a horrible contagious flesh-eating disease and those who were lepers had to live in isolation from their families. Jewish law required that people stay at least 6 feet away from them and no one was allowed to touch them. This leper believed that Jesus could heal him through his words and his action. He approached Jesus in humility and respect calling Him Lord and worshipping Him. He acknowledged that Jesus could cleanse/heal him if He were willing. Jesus, not only said He was willing, but He also put His hand out and touched him. Jesus' word and touch brought total healing. Today we have God's written Word in the Bible and promises of healing. Speak healing over your body and mind each day using the Word of God. “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…” (Psalm 103:1-2)Personal Development Tip Of The Week: “Mental Toughness”Mental toughness is a measure of an individual's resilience that predicts success in school, sports, work, etc. Mental toughness is much more about persistence not how intense or tough you try to make things. Just like our journey as Christians, we will be faced with many challenges and if we can continue to persist forward in faith we can become mentally tough to get through any challenge.Scripture to reflect on: Galatians 6:9 - And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Prayer for the week: Dear Heavenly Father, I pray right now that you fill us up with your Holy Spirit as we step into this new week. Bless us to not lean on our own understanding but to trust in you because you know the plans for us. I pray for your protection over our lives and our families this week lord and pray that you open new doors of opportunity for us in Jesus name amen!-Dayne PS: If you would like more tools and resources to help you get closer to God consider checking out our New 31 Day Devotional Prayer Journal available at https://bit.ly/352QxAk Subscribe at litwithprayer.substack.com
The word Advent means “coming” or “arrival” and in this season we celebrate Jesus' birth (his first coming) and we eagerly anticipate His second coming. It is important for us to have a clear understanding of Jesus' return, so that we will not fear, dread, or ignore it. Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed…For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. - 1 Thessalonians 4:13, 16-17 NIV 1) The REALITY of Christ's Return John 14:3; Matthew 24:30 – Christ's return is a certainty. a) When? With a “not right now” because there is something more important on your mind? ⇒ How has your thinking on the return of Jesus been shaped by popular culture, books, or movies? ⇒ Do you take the return of Christ seriously? How much is it a part of your thinking? How might you live differently if you knew Jesus was returning this year? ⇒ What would each of these responses look like in your life, practically speaking?
