S24E28 - De week tussen de Giro d'Italia en het Critérium du Dauphine is er normaal eentje die overal tussenin valt en dus rustig is. Weinig wedstrijden, weinig nieuws. Deze week was dat echter een beetje anders. Waarom dat zo is, hoor je in een nieuwe aflevering van de WielerFlits Podcast! Maxim en Youri - terug van weggeweest - beginnen uiteraard met de kersverse olympische wegselecties van Nederland. Mathieu van der Poel en Dylan van Baarle waren de verwachte namen bij de mannen, Daan Hoole is voor velen toch een verrassing. Onze verslaggevers leggen in de podcast uit dat dit eigenlijk helemaal niet zo'n grote verrassing is. Bij de vrouwen waren Ellen van Dijk, Demi Vollering, Marianne Vos en Lorena Wiebes de verwachte vier namen, maar toch breken onze mannen een lans voor Riejanne Markus en Shirin van Anrooij. Deze week kwamen er vanuit Visma | Lease a Bike de eerste voorzichtige, goede signalen rondom Jonas Vingegaard en Wout van Aert. Toch blijft de vraag: halen zij de Tour de France, of niet? Er hangt rondom het Nederlandse WorldTeam zodoende een groot rookgordijn, waarin ook de ploeg zelf verzeild in is geraakt. Wat zijn nu de opties en met welke ambities kunnen ze straks naar Frankrijk vertrekken? Wie zijn er zeker? Waar staan de vraagtekens? Het komt allemaal voorbij. Kort daarna is er ook een scoop over WielerFlits zelf te horen, dus luister snel om mee te zijn. Tot slot staan de mannen stil bij mogelijke startplicht voor Nederlandse teams in Nederlandse wedstrijden. De mannen-profteams in de vier Nederlandse profkoersen, de Continental- en opleidingsploegen in de .2-koersen en alle vrouwenteams in de profkoersen voor vrouwen, et cetera. Maxim is daar een groot voorstander van en ook Youri voelt daar wel iets voor. Mathieu van der Poel reed zondag op heroïsche wijze naar de overwinning in de Ronde van Vlaanderen. Verslaggevers Maxim Horssels, Raymond Kerckhoffs, Niels Bastiaens en Zeger Schaeken bespreken zijn prestatie, maar ook die van zijn team. De mannen analyseren ook de dag van Visma | Lease a Bike, die een minder prominente rol speelden vandaag. Dat en meer in de WielerFlits Podcast! Alpecin-Deceuninck reed volgens Raymond een perfecte koers. "Ze hebben de hele dag alles onder controle gehouden en Van der Poel op het juiste moment afgezet. Toen Mads Pedersen wegreed, hebben ze het slim aangepakt door Gianni Vermeersch mee te sturen. Die reed een beetje mee met Pedersen en in de groep daarachter deden ze hetzelfde. Zo ontmoedigden ze andere renners om aan te vallen en zat Van der Poel in de zetel." Visma | Lease a Bike probeerde de handschoen ook op te nemen, maar ze kwamen in de finale tekort. "Al heel ver van de finish ondernamen ze pogingen, maar uiteindelijk zie je gewoon dat ze een echte kopman missen", vertelt Niels. De mannen hebben het ook over de diskwalificatie van Michael Matthews, die ze uiteindelijk allemaal terecht vinden. "Het publiek leek het daar niet helemaal eens mee te zijn, maar dat heeft veel te maken met zijn gunfactor", analyseert Maxim. Tot slot hebben de verslaggevers het nog over de wedstrijd van de vrouwen, die vuurwerk opleverden. Elisa Longo Borghini won na ploegenspel met Shirin van Anrooij. Die reed zich samen met haar land- en leeftijdsgenoten Puck Pieterse weer in de kijker. "Pieterse vertelde na afloop dat ze wel baalt dat haar seizoen op de weg nu gedaan is. Ze verkeert in hoogvorm, maar haar focus moet nu naar de mountainbike", legde Zeger nog uit.

S24E16 - De Heilige Vlaamse Wielerweek komt zondag tot een hoogtepunt met de Ronde van Vlaanderen. Een onthoofde editie, want door de verschrikkelijke valpartij in Dwars Door Vlaanderen is Wout van Aert er niet bij en Mads Pedersen gehavend. De derde topfavoriet is Mathieu van der Poel, die ontspannen toeleeft naar Vlaanderens Mooiste. Wat betekent dit voor de koers? In de WielerFlits Podcast staan we er uitgebreid bij stil! We beginnen bij de val, hét onderwerp in aanloop naar De Ronde. Vooral voor Van Aert heeft dat grote gevolgen. Een gebroken sleutelbeen, een gebroken borstbeen, zeven gebroken ribben en mentaal gebroken. Niet alleen De Ronde, Parijs-Roubaix en Amstel Gold Race zijn onhaalbaar, ook over de Giro d'Italia lijkt een kruis te kunnen. Dat betekent dat zijn voorbereiding op de Olympische Spelen ook in duigen valt. Hoe moet dat verder? Dan naar De Ronde zelf. MVDP kan eigenlijk alleen maar verliezen. En als hij wint, wat is dan voor het grote publiek de waarde van zijn zege? Wie er niet is, kun je niet verslaan. Maar toch zal de onvermijdelijke vraag na afloop dan toch opdoemen: “Had je niet liever tegen Wout gestreden?”. Maakt zijn afwezigheid de opdracht om te winnen voor de wereldkampioen eenvoudiger en hoe moet al de rest hun tactiek bepalen komende zondag? Youri is weer helemaal terug na een paar weken afwezigheid en knalt er direct in. Hij verwacht dat er een enorme strijd zal zijn voor de vroege vlucht en doet meteen een boude uitspraak: “Ik denk dat er zondag een vroege vluchter in de top-10 van de uitslag staat”. Maxim en hij denken ook dat Visma | Lease a Bike de koers nu niet in handen gaat nemen, maar beiden concluderen ook dat er eigenlijk ook maar weinig outsiders zijn voor de overwinning. Tot slot is er ook nog ruim aandacht voor de vrouwenkoers. Lotte Kopecky staat genoteerd als topfavoriete. Mede-kopvrouw Demi Vollering vertrekt bij SD Worx en in de podcast hoor je daarover een update. Wat betekent dit nieuws voor de cohesie binnen de sterkste vrouwenploeg? Krijgen we twee kampen? Aan de vooravond van de Vlaamse openingskoersen is Lars van den Berg bij ons op de koffie ☕️ De Utrechter in dienst van het Franse Groupama-FDJ rijdt bergop meer dan gemiddeld hard en daarom koerst hij dit weekend niet op kasseien, maar in dienst van kopman David Gaudu in de Ardèche - en later in Parijs-Nice. Vorig jaar maakte Lars tot grote verrassing van zichzelf zijn debuut in de Tour de France en in die koers wil hij dit jaar wederom vlammen.

Amalie Dideriksen, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, Emma Norsgaard Bjerg og Julie Noman Leth har i efterhånden mange år været en institution i det kvindelige professionelle cykelfelt. De har etableret sig, høstet succes og sået fremtidige frø for de unge og håbefulde danske piger som drømmer om at blive professionelle. De fire kvinder har bevist, at det er muligt. Sidste år fulgte Rebecca Koerner trop og gjorde, at vi fik fem danske kvinder på World Touren. Igen i år, tager en ny dansk kvinde springet op til det forjættede World Tour-felt. 19-årige Solbjørk Minke Anderson, som i 2024-sæsonen tørner ud for Uno-X Mobility - sammen med Dideriksen og Koerner.   I sin sæsondebut i Uno-X-farverne imponerede Solbjørk stort i Volta de la Valenciana, da hun blev samlet nr. 16, samlet nr. 2 i ungdomskonkurrencen og nr. 8. plads på løbets hårdeste etape, hvor hun blandt andet slog legenden Marianne Vos og stortalentet Shirin van Anrooij.   Men hvem er 19-årige Solbjørk Minke Anderson? Hvordan er hendes historie - fra Amager Cykle Ring, videre til Team Rytger Carl Ras, derefter til et fransk kontinentalhold i 2023 og nu på World Touren? We trappen het jaar af met de veiligheidskwestie in het veldrijden, de komst van RedBull in het wielerpeloton en het plotselinge afscheid van Lennard Hofstede.Maxim, Youri en veldritredacteur Zeger staan uitgebreid stil bij de cross. Daartoe is alle reden, want er gebeurde de afgelopen kerstperiode veel. Zo is het gedrag van het publiek naar de veldrijders toe dagelijks onderwerp van gesprek. Hoe is dit te verbeteren? Eigenlijk trekken onze drie mannen dezelfde ‘simpele' conclusie. Daarnaast passeren ook de ziektegevallen Eli Iserbyt, Shirin van Anrooij en Tom Pidcock de revue; bij die laatste analyseert ons trio zijn winter tot nu toe. En dan was er ook nog Ryan Kamp, die noodgedwongen per 1 januari 2024 individueel verder moet. Het is hoogtijd voor een commercieel Nederlands crossteam, maar is dat haalbaar?Verder sijpelde tussen kerst en de jaarwisseling door dat RedBull een meerderheidsbelang van 51% heeft genomen in het bedrijf van Ralph Denk, de entiteit achter BORA-hansgrohe. De producent van het bekende Oostenrijkse energiedrankje is geen onbekende in de sport, maar stapt nu serieus in. Volgens insiders is dat een game changer.Tot slot kwam op oudjaarsdag het verrassende nieuws dat Lennard Hofstede zijn carrière per direct had beëindigd. Een beslissing die pas later in december tot stand kwam, zo blijkt. Hij was voorzien voor de Tour Down Under, waar hij inmiddels is vervangen. Het lijkt erop dat dit ook voor het verdere seizoen staat te gebeuren. Dat en meer in een nieuwe WielerFlits Podcast!

Of het nu gaat over balanceren door de modder, dokkeren over kasseien of het aantrekken van de sprint: Shirin van Anrooij kun je voor alle wielerklussen bellen. Een gesprek over durven verliezen, over de ijzersterke nieuwkomers Puck Pieterse en Fem van Empel, over de helm die haar eerste World Tour overwinning opleverde, over hoe je een wedstrijd wint als je ‘stiekem' de avond daarvoor bij een concert zit en over haar droom om als psycholoog af te studeren.

Lotte Kopecky and Demi Vollering gunned it out at Strade Bianche with the Dutchwoman eventually crowned the victor after a tense photo finish. Despite being pipped into second, the Italian classic marked yet another chapter in Kopecky's extraordinary early season in which she has never finished lower than runner-up.  Rose Manley, Orla Chennaoui and Lizzy Banks discuss the race and its fallout, including the controversial disqualification of Kristen Faulkner for the wearing of a continuous glucose monitor.  Rose also speaks to Puck Pieterse, one of the unlikely stars of Strade Bianche. Cyclo-cross racer Pieterse finished fifth in her first ever Women's World Tour road race. She explains her approach to having fun on the bike and why we won't be seeing her at any more road races this season. The team also talk about a less acrimonious team one-two finish at Trofeo Alfredo Binda. Gisteren werd er voor de 24e(!) keer gekoerst door de vrouwen in het mooie Cittiglio, Italië met de Women's World Tour klassieker Trofeo Alfredo Binda. Vera en Ine hebben ook allebei op het loodzware rondje gekoerst maar ze bekeken het allebei toch liever vanaf de bank. ;) Na een hele attractieve en zware koers was het uiteindelijk de sterke Nederlandse Shirin van Anrooij van Team Trek-Segrafredo die de koers solo wist te winnen vóór haar ploeggenootje en de winnares van vorig jaar Elisa Balsamo die de sprint won van een sterk uitgedunde groep van 16 rensters. Het grote Italiaanse talent Vittoria Guazzini werd 3e. Lorena Wiebes mocht alweer een nieuwe paarse trui aantrekken als leidster in de World Tour. Vera en Ine spraken dezelfde avond na de koers met een hele toffe gast die vorig jaar ook al eens in de Koerage Podcast zat: Nederlands kampioene Riejanne Markus van Team Jumbo-Visma! Met z'n drieën blikken ze terug op een gebeurtenisvolle week, die begon met balkjes-gate en de heisa rondom parcoursbouwer (en de vader van) Adrie van der Poel.Maar de apotheose waren uiteraard de topwedstrijden de iedereen het afgelopen weekend kreeg voorgeschoteld.Ze bespreken uitgebreid de gebeurtenissen uit de mannencross: het vlammende begin van Lars van der Haar, de overname van Mathieu van der Poel en de tweestrijd die daarna volgde met Wout van Aert.Dat vertolkte zich weer tot een duel om duimen en vingers bij af te likken, met dank aan twee tactische meesterzetten van MVDP.Dat zorgde ervoor dat de renner van Jumbo-Visma zo uit het veld geslagen was, dat hij daardoor een cruciale fout maakte in de sprint en de wereldtitel moest laten aan Van der Poel. Uiteraard staan de mannen ook stil bij de overige crossen van dit weekend, waarin onder meer Fem van Empel, Thibau Nys en Shirin van Anrooij met goud naar huis gingen.

The 6th round of the X2O trophy took place in Hamme today! Noah and Issam talk about the double win for Jumbo Visma. They start with a chat about the win of Wout van Aert. Teun, Wouter en Andries zijn herenigd. Natuurlijk om bij te praten over de eerste Wereldbekers van het seizoen, al gaat het daarbij ook over het nieuwe tenue van Trek (en de Nederlandse selectie), de mentale vermoeidheid van Mathieu van der Poel, de aanstaande dominantie van Fem van Empel en de strijd om de titel 'best of the rest' tussen Laurens Sweeck en Eli Iserbyt. En we bellen met Shirin van Anrooij, die zich na een vol wegseizoen opmaakt voor haar terugkeer in het veld.

Momenteel worden in Australië de wereldkampioenschappen wielrennen verreden. In Wollongong zijn de eerste onderdelen al verreden en is er al Nederlands succes. Ellen van Dijk won de tijdrit voor elite vrouwen en Shirin van Anrooij pakte het zilver bij de tijdrit voor beloften vrouwen. En toen was daar alweer #20 van Vera en Roxane Zien Af! De nabeschouwing van een van de favoriete wedstrijden op de kalender van Vera en Roxane; de Postnord Vårgårda WestSweden Ploegentijdrit & Wegwedstrijd. Vera en Roxane hebben deze Zweedse wedstrijden zelf ook vaak gereden. Zelfs ook een keer samen voor de KNWU Nationale Selectie in 2011 (samen met Anna v/d Breggen, Regina Bruins en Andrea Bosman)! In 2014 reden ze bijvoorbeeld ook en was het een epische kletsnatte editie waarin Vera maar liefst 90km in de ontsnapping reed. Eerst met een Zweedse samen en later alleen en met ongeveer 2 ronden te gaan werd teruggepakt. Het leverde haar de UCI Women's World Tour bergtrui op. Roxane profiteerde mede daarvan én van haar sterkte team Rabo-Liv en werd 3e in een kopgroep van 3 achter Blaak en Pieters met vlak daarachter Vos op de 4e plek.Over de koers.De ploegentijdrit werd gewonnen door Team Trek-Segrafredo met daarin de Nederlandse rensters Ellen van Dijk en Shirin van Anrooij, voor Team SD Worx en Team DSM. De wegwedstrijd werd aanvankelijk voor de 4e keer in de historie gewonnen door Marianne Vos van Team Jumbo-Visma maar zij werd gediskwalificeerd doordat ze 3sec met haar polsen op het stuur reed op kop van een kopgroep. The main talking point of the day is the National title of Tim Merlier. They discuss the race, which ended in the sprint won by Tim Merlier. The non selection of Merlier for the tour is discussed, as is the relation between that and his transfer to Quickstep. The 10th place of Daan Soete is also discussed. But there is more to talk about, such as the second place of Shirin van Anrooij in the Dutch womens championships aswell as Sanne cant who ended 8th in the Belgian championships. We zijn weer los! De nabeschouwing van het N.K. Tijdrijden en N.K. Weg vormt de kick-off van onze zomercampagne van Vera en Roxane Zien Af! Weg met een groepje. En ze kwam bij dat hele grote ‘Rondje Markermeer' zó vlakbij Vera langs in Westfriesland dat Vera ook een ritje van 64km heeft gemaakt en grotendeels bij ‘brommer' Ellen van Dijk over de Houtribdijk en Zuiderdijk was aangehaakt. Meteen toen Ellen weer thuis was in Woerden, schoof ze dus digitaal bij ons aan!Over de koers: Het N.K. Tijdrijden en N.K. Weg zijn altijd speciale wedstrijden. Helemaal met de moordende concurrentie in Nederland op zowel de tijdrit als de weg. Al ontbraken er op de tijdrit in Emmen wel een aantal grote namen op de startlijst zoals Annemiek van Vleuten en Lucinda Brand. Ellen van Dijk pakte op woensdag 22 juni voor de 5e keer de Nationale tijdrittitel. Haar ploeggenote Shirin van Anrooij reed op zaterdag 25 juni vervolgens naar zilver op de wegwedstrijd achter Riejanne Markus, die de opvolgster werd van haar vriendin Amy Pieters die haar titel niet kon verdedigen. Op de tijdrit klokte van Anrooij de tweede tijd, maar kreeg geen zilveren medaille omdat ze alleen werd gehuldigd als Belofte (-23) kampioene Tijdrijden. Wat vonden Vera, Roxane en Ellen daarvan? De tactiek van de Nederlandse prof- ploegen en de eenlingen van de buitenlandse teams in de wegwedstrijd blijft ook altijd een lastige factor, zo ook weer dit N.K., welke van start ging in Westerbork en na 123 kilometer finishte bovenop de Col du VAM in Wijster. Op de dag van het N.K. Weg werd bekend gemaakt dat er een stichting in het leven is geroepen door de familie, vrienden en ploeggenoten van Amy. Vera en Roxane roepen ook iedereen op om te doneren voor de behandelingen en therapieën die Amy nodig heeft maar niet allemaal door de verzekering worden vergoed.
