Reynald Vito Grattagliano, founder of Arkay Beverages, is shaking up the liquor market and revolutionizing the way we drink, by inventing the first alcohol-free formula that smells and tastes like liquor, but without the hangover. After seeing his son come home drunk one night, Reynald spent the next three years researching the concoction, and spent five million dollars to make it happen. The secret? Arkay has a small molecule inside the drink, in contact with the tongue, sending stimuli to the brain, where the mucous membranes of smell and taste saturate and make the consumer believe that he/she is drinking alcohol. The inventor of the world's first alcohol-free whisky flavored drink started in his garage and developed a vodka alternative, with the same kick and burn as regular alcoholic drinks, giving consumers the buzz and happy high, without the hangover and side effects, while also being a safe alternative for alcoholics, seniors, pregnant women, vegetarians, athletes and designated drivers. This reverse engineering concept in 2011 blends flavors and aromas of whisky, tequila, gin, vodka with water, adding at the same time a proprietary molecule that tastes and smells identically to alcohol.

TRIGGER WARNING: This episode contains discussion of physical and emotional trauma and abuse. Welcome to our St. Patrick's Day Lit for Christmas party! In this episode, Marty and his friend, Madeline, indulge in a wee drop of Irish Cream, Crème de Menthe, and vodka and get serious (and seriously drunk) talking about Claire Keegan's Small Things Like These. BONUS POINTS: Take a drink every time Marty tries on a bad Irish accent! GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT: Bailey's Mint Martini (recipe adapted from lemontreedwelling.com) Ingredients: 1 shot Bailey's Irish Cream 1 shot Creme de Menthe liqueur 1 shot of vodka 2 shots of Half & Half ice Garnish: Whipped cream and chocolate shavings Directions: 1. Fill cocktail shaker with ice. 2. Add ingredients; cover and shake well. 3. Strain into a martini glass. 4. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings as desired. GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT NONALCOHOLIC ALTERNATIVE: Use ingredients and follow above directions, substituting mint simple syrup for Crème de Menthe, Bailey's Coffee Creamer for Bailey's Irish Cream, and Arkay's Zero-Proof Vodka for vodka. Marty has a Master's in fiction writing, MFA in poetry writing, and teaches in the English Department at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He served two terms at Poet Laureate of the Upper Peninsula, and has published the poetry collection The Mysteries of the Rosary from Mayapple Press. For more of Marty's thoughts and writing visit his blog Saint Marty (saintmarty-marty.blogspot.com) or listen to his other podcast Confessions of Saint Marty, also on Anchor.fm. Marty is a writer, blogger, wine sipper, easy drunk, and poetry obsessor who puts his Christmas tree up in mid-October and refuses to take it down until the snow starts melting. Madeline has a BA in English Creative Writing and gin drinking. Currently, she is pursuing a Library Science graduate degree and avoiding the Lizard Man of Bloomington. In her spare time, she enjoys reading eco-lit, true crime, and Alice Hoffman books. Music for this episode: "Jingle Bells Jazzy Style" by Julius H, used courtesy of Pixabay.

David and Evan discuss music, Evan's career and goals, as well as play a game of song association. Not to spoil anything, but the whole episode, if you listen- It's gonna be Arkay (with David Arkay).

Disclaimer: this is NOT a typical episode of "It's Gonna Be Arkay (with David Arkay)". Typical podcast banter does NOT entail. On a much more serious note, David addresses and issue that has been ongoing since the creation of this podcast. For the 10th episode, David looks back and tries to piece together the little pieces of evidence that has been released to figure out what exactly is the "David-Verse". And for the first time, it might not be Arkay (with David Arkay).

Happy Good Friday! Wait, that is probably not good wording at all. Um. Okay. Friday means we are back with an all new episode! There are still multiple Davids in the opening segment, kinda weird. David eats pop rocks, also kinda weird. David also has guest Alex Funk, a brilliant guy who makes art, actively engages in charity, and has amazing ideas for the world. That's actually kinda awesome. Remember, "It's Gonna Be Arkay (with David Arkay)". Haha, that's the name of the show.
Picture a world without David Arkay. Now that wouldn't be very Arkay now would it? David recovers after a very exciting and eventful week. He wants to make sure his listeners know that they mean more than the worlds to him. Today's guests are Willow Donnaruma and Liam Luciano, two cousins who are personal friends of David. They engage in typical podcast chatter as well as attempt to create a movie. Almost forgot, it's gonna be Arkay! (with David Arkay)!
Surprise! It's an all new special episode of "It's Gonna Be Arkay (with David Arkay)" for David's birthday. Join David as he interviews the legend himself, Joshua Block (@worldoftshirts), a viral social media king, as they discuss his content and regular pilgrimages across Long Island and New York City. David really treats himself with this episode in a journey of self-love and narcissism. Don't forget, it's gonna be Arkay! (with David Arkay).
David explores the nature of this podcast. What is going on with him? David writes a song, and before David loses it completely, David brings on his guest and good friend, Dawid Kaminski. Although it is spelt Dawid, it is actually pronounced David. Enjoy the two David's discuss an encyclopedia worth of content, from COVID-19 to what they have been watching on Netflix. And please don't forget, It's Gonna Be Arkay (with David Arkay).
Things get heated this week as David brings on his guest Adam Ritzer, founder of "Ritzer's Hot Honey". David samples the product while discussing what it means to start your own business from the ground up. Usual podcast content is included, and don't forget, it's gonna be Arkay (with David Arkay)!
Aaaaaand we're back ladies and gentlemen! Hope you didn't miss David too much. Join David this week as he engages in typical podcast antics as well as interviewing a very special guest, young entrepreneur Jimmy Geib. If you're still reading this, just listen to the episode, I promise you it's gonna be Arkay (with David Arkay).
David is back with another episode for his beautiful followers this week. Join David (a former student council president) and his guest, Tyler Hauser (an actual Lord in Scotland), as they discuss todays current nature of politics. Issues and possible solutions to todays political climate are brought up as well as a few mentions of Star Wars. Uh oh?! That is right, an episode where people talk politics, don't worry though, it's all good. Dare I say it, it's all Arkay.

Aqua is the first track from Symbiosis, an EP that portrays the elements of nature in their full splendor. Water is the basic element for life to exist. The ocean contains the history of humanity. The sea has the voices of the Earth and those that come from outer space. Water receives an impulse from the stars and transmits it to living beings. Thanks to water, we are born, we live and we recognize its energetic memory to dialogue with the universe. I observe my reflection in the water, I am the water. Mitchell Kaneff is the third generation chairman and CEO of his family's business, Arkay Packaging. For nearly 100 years, Arkay has created packaging for the beauty industry. In this podcast, Kaneff shares his experiences with us about working in his family business, including his bold decision to fire his father. Sidenote: This interview was (The last one) we recorded before the COVID outbreak in New York City. It can take us a while to put these shows together. Yes, we recorded this interview in the same room and no social distancing, but this was all before we knew what was going to happen.
An interview with Mitchell Kaneff, CEO, business owner, producer and musician about how to be a modern man. We talk about success, role models and things to do and not to do. Mitchell is the author of “Taking Over: Insider Tips from a Third-Generation CEO” and the chairman and CEO of Arkay Packaging, a 98-year-old, family–owned and operated leader in the folding carton industry. Originally opened by Mitchell's grandfather on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1922, Arkay has since expanded into a design studio in Hauppauge, NY, a sales office in New York City, and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Roanoke, VA. Under Mitchell's direction, Arkay continues to be a market frontrunner in providing companies, such as Revlon/Elizabeth Arden, Estée Lauder, Procter & Gamble, and L'Oréal, with cutting-edge product packaging solutions. Mitchell, a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, began working at Arkay when he was still in high school, enabling him to expand and develop his expertise in print and management techniques, while refining his entrepreneurial skills — an ability which has contributed powerfully to Arkay's growing success. In addition to his role as CEO and author, Mitchell is involved with his band, The Young Presidents, performing original rock music in the New York metropolitan area. He has produced and performed on several albums of original material over the years: His next album, “Songs From the Attic”, is due to be released this year. Mitchell Kaneff is active on the boards of Columbia University Business School, the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, and the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke. He lives in New York City with his twin 19- year old sons — and possible fourth generation leaders of Arkay — Josh and Max.

PLEASE NOTE: there is adult language in this episode. It's only 1-2 words, but if you are listening with little kids, you may want to use headphones. Mitchell Kaneff is the 3rd generation Chairman and CEO of his family’s company, Arkay Packaging. If you’ve ever purchased lipstick, moisturizer, or fragrance in a box, the packaging was likely created by Arkay. They’ve been in business for more than 96 years. Today, they send high-end packaging all over the world from their three locations on the east coast. Mitchell assumed leadership of Arkay in 1996 when he was 30 years old. He gained notoriety 14 years later following the release of his book, Taking Over: Insider Tips from a Third Generation CEO. The book shares his personal story, including a letter he wrote to his father asking him leave the business, along with stories from other families who struggled through leadership transitions. The media headline at the time was Why I Fired My Father From the Family Business. In this episode, Mitchell and I talk about what it was like to fire his dad—someone he describes as both a seagull manager and a larger than life living legend in the packaging industry. Spoiler alert: Mitchell and his dad made it through the transition unscathed, in fact, they remain best friends today. We also discuss Mitchell’s leadership style, the keys to his success, and how he is introducing the family business to his teenage sons. Fun fact about Mitchell: He’s not only a fantastic leader, but also a rockstar! Outside of the office, he’s a bass player and vocalist with The Young Presidents. They are releasing their fourth album soon! Topics discussed in this episode: About Mitchell and Arkay Packaging (2:12) About the book (4:27) Working up the ranks (9:10) Preparing for leadership (12:35) Firing dad (and remaining best friends) (19:34) Mitch’s leadership style: Engage, empower, share (29:03) Monitoring vital signs (35:57) Outside specialists and consultants (41:57) Starting succession planning (49:46) Having hobbies as a leader (1:02:06) Health, wellness, and balance for leaders (1:08:36) How to find Mitchell (1:11:34) Bonus questions (1:13:07) Guest Bio: Mitchell Kaneff, author of Taking Over: Insider Tips from a Third- Generation CEO, is the Chairman/CEO of Arkay Packaging, a 96-year old, family–owned and operated leader in the folding carton industry. Under Mitchell’s direction, Arkay continues to be a market frontrunner in providing companies, such as Revlon/Elizabeth Arden, EsteeLauder, Procter & Gamble, and L’Oréal, with cutting-edge product packaging solutions. Mitchell’s appreciation for customer satisfaction and his understanding of the industry has solidified partnerships with key customers, earning Arkay “Supplier of the Year” awards several years running. In addition to locations in Hauppauge, New York and New York City, Arkay built a manufacturing facility in Roanoke, Virginia 22 years ago and in 2008 underwent an expansion to twice its size, a testament to leadership and the quality of the Arkay product. Mitchell lives in New York City with his twin 17-year old sons, Max and Josh, and his wife, Amy. Notable & Quotable: Succession planning for dummies didn’t exist, so I wrote a book. —Mitchell Kaneff #successfulgenerations Some millennials look at a mountain and just want to go to the top. Hello all, long time no see! Last night I knew that I wouldn't be able to get the whole show done. So instead of waiting until probably next week, I split the episode into 2 parts. Part 1 deals with Summer and Winter Games, and Part 2 will be about California Games and all of the feedback for all three. So you still have until Saturday to get feedback in if you'd like. Today I look at one of the most popular Atari 2600 games (and I can say 2600 because it came out after the rebranding), River Raid! Extra special thanks to Carol Shaw and Ralph Merkle for their help with this episode, and to Willie, ArKay, Captain Bob, and Mike at the Atari 5200 Super Podcast for their help as well, even though I screwed that up slightly (more details in the episode). Please go and check out the Atari 5200 Super Podcast if you don't already listen, and please check out their Facebook page at the link above! Coming up next week is Bugs and Journey Escape by Data Age. Thanks to Wade's (from Inverse Atascii) suggestion, I now have a calendar to your right (unless you're on a mobile phone, then all bets are off). As long as I remember to keep it updated, you can check there for all the upcoming shows and see when they will be published. If you'd like to send your thoughts on Bugs and/or Journey Escape, or any other game I've covered so far, please send it to 2600gamebygame@comcast.net. Thank you so much for listening!
