In this thought-provoking episode of Let Me Be Frank, Bishop Frank Caggiano is joined by Dr. Greg Bottaro, founder of The Catholic Psych Institute—also known as "The Catholic Psych Guy." Together, they explore the concept of relationality and its role in our lives. They discuss the long-standing notion that relationships are merely accidental to our essence, Bishop Frank and Dr. Bottaro draw on the insights of Pope St. John Paul II, understanding that this view is incomplete. Instead, they delve into the idea that relationality is intrinsic to who we are; that to be human is to be in relationship. Don't miss this deep dive into the intersection of philosophy, theology, and psychology, and what it means for how we understand ourselves and one another! #catholic #christian #faith

All eyes have been on the Vatican for the past couple weeks, appropriately so as we are in the season of Easter.   On Let Me Be Frank, Bishop Caggiano reflects on the life of Pope Francis and prays for his soul . He also prays for the College of Cardinals, as they have an historic task ahead of them.   What is the task ahead? What is the schedule and program for the cardinals who have gathered in Rome for the conclave, which begins on May 7th?   Bishop Frank lays it all out for us, so we know (as much as we can know) what to expect in the weeks to come.   By the way, I recently read a beautiful tribute from Fr Raymond de Souza in The Catholic Thing about the liturgical rhythm of Pope Francis's death and his final days on earth. Fr de Souza pointed out that the past many popes have died “according to a liturgical rhythm”… Francis on Easter Monday, John XXIII on the day after Pentecost, John Paul II on Divine Mercy Sunday, Benedict XVI on the vigil of Mary Mother of God, and Paul VI on the Transfiguration. Please spread the word and tell your friends about Let Me Be Frank! The pontificate of Pope Francis, which just reached its tenth year, has brought a greater willingness to engage with modern issues. Francis has addressed Catholics on the climate emergency, arguing a religious position against consumerism and irresponsible development. Without changing the Church's doctrines, he struck a very different tone than his predecessors Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI on the inclusion of gay people and the involvement of women in Church leadership. The traditionalist reaction against Francis has also been unprecedented, with prominent figures in the Church openly seeking to discredit him. The New Yorker contributor Paul Elie, who recently wrote about this decade of Francis's leadership, explores how tensions in the Church were overtaken by an American-style culture war. Elie speaks with Bishop Frank Caggiano, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and M. Cathleen Kaveny, a prominent law professor and theologian at Boston College. “For John Paul,” Kaveny says, “the main challenge that the faith faced was moral relativism. The conservatives . . . are worried that [moral relativism] is not appreciated by Pope Francis.”

Bishop Frank Caggiano came to the University of Notre Dame to deliver a major presentation about promoting co-responsibility between the laity and clergy for the mission of the church. That is, the mission of evangelization. In his own diocese of Bridgeport, CT, Bishop Caggiano has exercised both tremendous initiative for attempting bold new ventures in evangelization and simple humility in recognizing the ways in which that initiative has needed to be redirected or reshaped from time to time. But both the initiative and the humility are in service to a fundamental gospel ideal. As he said during his address at Notre Dame "The love that we have discovered has taken our life over and compels us to share it with others. That love has a face, and that face is Jesus Christ. The responsibility we all share is to witness to the one who saves us." Today Bishop Caggiano sits down with me, Leonard DeLorenzo, at the McGrath Institute for Church Life to talk about the mission of evangelization and co-responsibility among all the baptized. ------ Live: www.redeemerradio.com Follow Redeemer Radio on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram: @RedeemerRadio Follow McGrath Institute for Church Life on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram: @McGrathND Subscribe to the Podcast: iTunes | Google Play | SoundCloud

Bishop Frank Caggiano recently asked US Catholics that if they had 60 seconds to share a single idea with the Youth Synod 2018 in Rome, what would it be. Our answer? Education. The education of young and adult Catholics, we argue, is one of the most important undertakings that Catholics can embark upon in the 21st century. Join us in this second episode as we discuss the intersection of spirituality, the formation of the intellect, philosophical inquiry and the reading of Scripture.     For the show notes to this episode, please visit https://catholicheritagespirituality.com/episode13.
