It's Just One of Those Pods On the latest edition of Pod Yourself A Gun, comedian, Good Guy with a Gun, and host of the Blockbusting podcast, Jay Light joins Matt & Vince to talk about The Sopranos season five episode eleven, “Cold Cuts.” As Matt points out, despite AJ's absence from it, this is a real AJ of an episode of The Sopranos. It's like everyone in the episode feels like it's just one of those days where you don't want to wake up, everything's f*cked, and everybody sucks. Sort of the Nu Metal episode. Which makes sense as the gang agrees it's one of the worst episodes of the series (Low B+). Matt addresses some of the complaints from the mailbag episode about the autotune, and this week's Bada-B stories are pure Lieb vocals. Let that be a lesson to all of you - if you pay us enough money, we will do what you ask, but you gotta give us that scharole. There's also an argument in there about whether or not Christopher really thinks he could be a male model. This is your source for channeled holistic stress management techniques, guidance, inspiration and motivation to stay on your path to rapid financial ascension and massive impact as a conscious entrepreneur. The title of today’s podcast episode is Money Blockbusting for Andrea Mastrobattista Part 2.  In this podcast episode, we are continuing the journey with our beautiful fabulous goddess, Andrea Mastrobattista. In Episode 133 we ended on a cliffhanger, and this is so exciting. Because, where we last left off was with doing money blockbusting for her live on the air here on the podcast - or live, if you're watching streaming the taping live in the Entrepreneur Master Manifestors Facebook group. And where we left off was that Andrea was finally seeing her own value, right; being able to value herself, value her work and the things that she's passionate about - especially when we're talking about opening up to charging for "the juice." She is as this incredible juicy goddess, inspiring and transforming people's lives with her amazing story, her courage and beautiful energy, and we got her to the point of finally seeing for herself that, wait a minute, that has value! We left at the cliffhanger of, all right, well, if my juice has value, if my writing has value, or if my speaking has value, then oh crap, that means like I could actually charge for it. And we were on the edge of her opening up to the possibility of being able to really start making money doing what her unique brilliance is, and sharing her story, and being able to motivate others on their path to find their voice, as well. She started owning it, talking about "taking herself off the shelf" - and this is so powerful because, at last, we're going to continue on this journey with her.   Let's talk about it! - Are you blocking your next business breakthrough? This is your source for channeled holistic stress management techniques, guidance, inspiration and motivation to stay on your path to rapid financial ascension and massive impact as a conscious entrepreneur. Today’s podcast episode is special because we are going to do something different. Live on the air I'm going to do a Money Blockbusting Session for my guest Andrea Mastrobattista! In today's podcast episode, we are doing a new thing for the first time. Now, I've had the honor and pleasure of interviewing incredible journeypreneurs from all over the world in all different kinds of industries and incomes, from startup to hundreds of millions, on this podcast, and they've been sharing their stories. And what's been interesting though is that over on Facebook in my Entrepreneur Master Manifestors group, we've been doing law of attraction and energy work as entrepreneurs, and inspiring one another to really get in to busting money our blocks. During the lockdown, I got to leading online meditations for a women's empowerment and networking organization called B.I.G. aka Believe Inspire Grow, of which I am a local chapter leader. And along the way of leading those online meditations, Andrea Mastrobattista and I really connected on another level - we've met briefly before in person at their events, but during this time - right now at the streaming of this podcast it's May 2020, so we're still kinda in coronavirus time. And so, since meditating with B.I.G. regularly I've been seeing Andrea more and we've been talking a lot more and I thought to myself Holy cow! I had to have her on my podcast! But she did me another one up and she's like, "Well can I be your guinea pig for money blockbusting live on the air? I have this situation and I was wondering if you can help me move through it; I feel it would help a lot of people." And WOW!! Yes please! So here we are at last. Welcome to the podcast, goddess! Andrea: Hey! Absolutely. Goddesses on parade! Victoria: Yay! Now, Andrea Mastrobattista, she is an inspirational speaker. She's known for her story of her spinal bifida journey. And you can find her especially as an inspirational speaker at OperationInspiration.com. She also has another business, a second business where she does web design - she and I share that web techie vein. Yes, yes goddess! And you could find her web design business over at GoldenSlipperProductions.com.  And her money block is that one business is thriving, the web design, but her speaking business is not, even though that is her real passion.   Let's talk about it! - Are you blocking your next business breakthrough? Hey nerds. This week, I am joined by the mighty Jay Light. Jay has been doing comedy for almost a decade. He is from just outside of Dallas, Texas. Jay moved to LA from North Carolina in 2011. He landed a job with Flappers in Burbank, where he worked in the box office. Jay moved from Flappers to The Comedy Store in Hollywood as a door guy after a couple successful appearances on Potluck. Since those early days, Jay has achieved quite a lot. He should be very proud and probably is, but he comes across as genuinely humble, friendly, and straight up kind. Jay has appeared on Comedy Central's Roast Battle and Not Safe with Nikki Glaser. He has also been on HBO's Project Greenlight. Jay even opened for Dave Chappelle. But we don't waste time talking about any of that...we talk about his early days, a bit of the struggle and move quickly into his religious background. Jay has been on quite the spiritual journey. He grew up in a conservative Presbyterian household. Jay left the faith he grew up with and has since turned back to believing in a higher power after going through AA. Really, Jay is about being a good person by being true to what he feels is right and positive. He's fantastic. Find him online at www.jaylightcomedy.com. Follow him on the Gram at @dietjay. Good Day WS! Thanks for joining us for West Seattle Daily Ep 033 on this Thursday, brought to you by Sea-Town Real Estate. I'm your host, Christian Harris. With February being Black History Month, on this Throwback Thursday episode, we are on our second to last installment on the topic of long-lasting effects of institutionalized racism in real estate. For some additional context, listen to our last couple Throw Back Thursday episodes on Youtube. Last week we talked the effects of "Racial Restrictive Covenants" tied to specific properties or entire neighborhoods, prohibiting non-whites from residing there. Today we are going to talk a little about the Fair Housing Act of 1968 that officially made it illegal and provided a meaningful federal enforcement for prohibiting discriminating based on race, religion, national origin or sex in the sale, rental or financing of housing. The Fair Housing Act is actually part of the larger Civil Rights Act enacted in 1968 by President Lyndon B. Johnson during the Martin Luther King assassination riots. It is built on the already established Civil Rights Act of 1866, which defined US citizenship and affirm that all citizens are equally protect by the law. In the wake of the Civil War, this law was intended to protect the civil rights of persons of African descent born in or brought to the US as slaves. This legislation was a major support for the Thirteenth Amendment and was passed by Congress, but vetoed by Democrat Andrew Johnson but then overruled by a two-thirds majority vote by the Republican majority Congress, making this bill the first major piece of legislation where Congress overrode a presidential veto, allowing it to become law without a presidential signature. The problem with the civil rights laws that were already on the books prior to 1968 is that none of them had any enforcement mechanism built in, so there was nothing that could really be done if they were violated... and let's be honest, from what we have observed from history, it didn't really sound like the majority of society or the government had any real intention of enforcing such laws back then anyways. It's taken us a long time as a society to get to where we are now and be able to have honest conversations about racial issues. While overt and on-the-books racism may be a thing of the past, our individual biases & prejudices are something we need to be keenly aware of... We will talk about that more on our next Throwback Thursday episode. Info from https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/fair_housing_equal_opp/fair_housing_act_overview#_The_Fair_Housing ---- Examples of Housing Discrimination: Discrimination Isn’t Always Obvious – Example #1: John, who is a Black man, speaks to a prospective landlord on the phone about leasing an apartment. On the phone, the landlord seems eager to rent to John, but when John meets with the landlord in person to fill out an application, the landlord’s attitude is entirely different. A few days later, John receives a letter saying that his application was denied because of a negative reference from his current landlord. John is surprised because he never had problems with his landlord, and his landlord swears she was never contacted for a reference. John suspects that the real reason he was denied the apartment was because he is Black, so John files a complaint with HUD. HUD investigates and it turns out John is right – the landlord’s files show a pattern of discrimination because of race and color. Who Is Protected? The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of: • Race • Color • National Origin • Religion • Sex • Familial Status • Disability Equal Treatment in Home Renting and Selling: • Refusing to rent housing, sell housing, or negotiate for housing • Making housing unavailable or lying about the availability of housing • Denying housing • Establishing different terms or conditions in home selling or renting • Providing different housing accommodations or amenities • Blockbusting (convincing property owners to sell cheaply because of the fear of racial, religious, or other minorities moving into the neighborhood) • Denying participation in housing-related services such as a multiple listing service Exemption From the Fair Housing Act: In certain cases, the following groups may be exempt from following the Act: • Single-family homes that are rented or sold without using a broker • Owner-occupied homes with no more than four units • Members-only private clubs or organizations Enforcement of Fair Housing: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is responsible for enforcing the Fair Housing Act. HUD enforces the Act in two ways: 0. Fair Housing Testers: HUD hires people to pose as renters or home buyers to see if discriminatory practices are being used. As a landlord, you need to be careful what you say in person, on the phone, and in rental ads. 0. Investigate Discrimination Claims: Individuals who feel their fair housing rights have been violated under the Fair Housing Act can file a discrimination claim with HUD. HUD will investigate the claim, determine if there is any merit to it, and decide if further legal action is necessary. I hope this mini history lesson has been interesting and educational for you & opens other conversations with friends & family. Feel free to reach out and share your thoughts. Thanks for listening & catch ya tomorrow. Link to full investigation video - https://projects.newsday.com/long-island/real-estate-agents-investigation/
