The best Celtics conversations of the week from The Greg Hill Show, Jones & Keefe, and WEEI Afternoons. Will Joe Mazzulla be exposed without Jayson Tatum this season? Official season predictions for the team. Wyc Grousbeck joined The Greg Hill Show on Opening Day.
The Boston Celtics' first quarter against the Knicks offered a glimpse of a smooth performance, as the team jumped out to a 30-22 lead with great ball movement and pace. However, the game spiraled into an absolute nightmare in the second quarter. The Knicks dominated with a brutal 42-14 run, fueled by an 11-0 and a 17-0 burst. Boston struggled with turnovers and could not stop the Knicks from scoring 16 fast break points and grabbing 12 offensive rebounds in the first half. This collapse led to a massive 64-44 halftime deficit. Though the Celtics were unable to mount a full comeback, they showed flashes of resilience in the second half, spurred on by picking up the full-court defense in the fourth quarter. Individually, there were highlights, including big three-pointers from Pritchard that helped stop a Knicks run and another that began to close the gap in the final period. Jaylen Brown hit some tough shots, including an early third-quarter three and a pull-up three late in the fourth. Additionally, Hugo provided a boost with excellent defense and his first NBA bucket. Ultimately, the deficit was too large to overcome, and the Knicks secured the 105-95 victoryThis podcast is brought to you by me, Guy DePlacido. Brodes hosted on WIP Thursday night telling Sixers fans it's wrong to crush Embiid after the Sixers first game of season!
A massive sports betting bust involving the mafia and the NBA, more than 30 people were arrested including three former Celtics players. The NBA is reviewing the allegations. The Celtics are in New York with the Knicks tonight. The Bruins lost 6 in a row after the loss to the Ducks yesterday in the TD Garden. The Chargers beat the Vikings last night. The government is still shut down, and federal workers will miss their first paycheck. SNAP will run out in Massachusetts next week, affecting as many as a million people.
Only one hour tonight, but there's still a lot to unpack from yesterday's gambling investigation arrests. After hearing from Adam Silver earlier in the week, the NBA commissioner might've known this domino was going to drop and now has the task of fixing it. Then, only nine games in, but its getting dangerously close for the Bruins to pack everything in and start a new without Don Sweeney. And, with the World Series starting tonight, the game of baseball would benefit greatly from a repeat by the Dodgers.
Jay King and Brian Robb break down their leftover thoughts from opening night after the Celtics blew a fourth quarter lead against the Sixers. Thoughts on Joe Mazzulla's rotation, lineup choices going forward and much more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On tonight's episode, the gang recaps the Patriots week 7 win against the Titans and preview the upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns. They also touch on the Bruins and Celtics rough starts to their seasons. Enjoy!

The entire world was shocked to learn about an FBI-led investigation into illegal gambling with current and former members of the NBA that sports betting and gambling will never be looked at the same.
There's only 90 minutes tonight, but one story rocking the sports world. How do the arrests of Chauncey Billups, Terry Rozier, and Damon Jones among others shake the foundation of sports betting? Then, every game and every athlete will be judged even more than they already are when it comes to integrity and subpar performances. And, there may only be three prominent names in this investigation from the FBI, but there could be plenty more added as more information comes out.
Its opening night for the Celtics in what some could call a new era for the C's with Jaylen Brown as the number one option. What are the real expectations for this new iteration of Celtics' basketball? Then, Dan Greenberg from Barstool Sports joins and explains why fans are going to get a harsh wake-up call on what Jayson Tatum was able to make up for. And, Brad Stevens sounded like someone who didn't want to make moves to get under the luxury tax.
The third hour kicks off with the Headlines all about updates in the NFL from keeping Bad Bunny for the Halftime Show and moving the Pro Bowl. Why everything ties into Roger Goodell wanting to international? Then, lots of updates in the Massachusetts judicial system in the New England Nightly News. And, an update from the Celtics at halftime which if the season goes this way, it could be a long year.

Unfortunately for Newton, every metric would disagree even leading into the toughest defense Maye will face so far in the Browns. Then, an update on the mystery illness of Kristaps Porzingis and a new trend Arcand tries his hand at in Arcand Fire. And, Clickbait features a woman being arrested during the "No Kings" rally in an odd costume.

(12:33) The crew dives into the developing story of illegal sports betting and gambling probes involving Blazers Head Coach Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier among others. (23:42) We debate how these gambling probes and arrests make the NBA look as a league, given the history with scandals within the NBA. (31:59) Jaylen Brown describes this being a tough loss with opportunities to win, but knows there will be growing pains with this team. Zo and Beetle give their thoughts. WE ARE BACK!!! AFTER A YEAR LONG HIATUS, BOSTON CELTICS GAME DAY RECAP IS BACK AND SO ARE THE CELTICS!The Celtics dropped their season opener 117-116 to the 76ers in a heartbreaking fashion. After building a 13 pt lead, Philly led by Tyrese Maxey and Rookie Sensation VJ Edgecombe, went on a tear and pulled off a gritty win in Boston. Losing to Philly always hurts but it hurts a bit more when Embiid is a shell of himself. He was truly horrible tonight but Maxey and Edgecombe combined for 74 points!!There were a lot of positives to take from today as well as some negatives. From a positive standpoint, this team is going to be fun to watch. They pushed the pace, got out in transition, rebounded significantly better than I was expecting because of a gang rebounding mentality where they all crash and they still have a good offensive punch. From a negative standpoint, losing an All NBA Defender like Jrue Holiday is going to be a problem against guard heavy lineups like this 76ers team. Their transition defense, although it improved the second half, was horrible in this game leading to 21 pts. Overall, it was a fun game to watch but there is still a lot to learn about this team! This podcast is brought to you by me, Guy DePlacido.
