For the past several years, state AGs have been “checked-in” when it comes to hidden hotel and resort fees. To date, these enforcers have largely relied on their standard unfair and deceptive trade practice authority under state consumer protection laws to combat practices like so-called drip-pricing or “hidden” fees. But now, some states may soon have new tools to combat potential unfair and deceptive practices throughout a variety of industries. With the legislative season coming to a close, we have your rundown of the spread of “hidden fees” regulation including California and beyond. So, if a vacation from hidden resort fees is all you ever wanted – and a trip to see Carhenge or the Alamo (attractions in states where attorneys general have been active in enforcement) has already been checked off your bucket list – listen to find out the ideal places to get away. https://www.kelleydrye.com/viewpoints/blogs/ad-law-access/junk-fee-legislative-roundup Paul Singer psinger@kelleydrye.com (202) 342-8672 www.kelleydrye.com/Our-People/Paul-L-Singer Gonzalo Mon gmon@kelleydrye.com (202) 342-8576 www.kelleydrye.com/people/gonzalo-e-mon Abigail Stempson astempson@kelleydrye.com (202) 342-8678 www.kelleydrye.com/Our-People/Abigail-Stempson Beth Chun bchun@kelleydrye.com (202) 342-8671 www.kelleydrye.com/Our-People/Beth-Bolen-Chun Shea O'Meara someara@kelleydrye.com (212) 808-5042 Subscribe to the Ad Law Access blog - www.kelleydrye.com/subscribe Subscribe to the Ad Law News Newsletter - www.kelleydrye.com/subscribe View the Advertising and Privacy Law Resource Center - www.kelleydrye.com/advertising-and-privacy-law Find all of our links here linktr.ee/KelleyDryeAdLaw Hosted by Simone Roach

Perhaps the most famous spot on Earth for watching the Sun is Stonehenge, in southern England. A circle of stones erected about 4500 years ago lines up with the sunset on the winter solstice, and sunrise on the summer solstice. Not many people get to visit Stonehenge. But Americans don’t need to go all the way to England to get a look at it. There are several replicas of the site right here at home. The first was built on a hill overlooking the Columbia River in Washington state. It depicts what Stonehenge probably looked like when it was completed. Construction on the site began in 1918. The concrete structure was built as a memorial to the men who died in World War I. The site’s benefactor chose Stonehenge as a motif because the view at the time said the original site was used for human sacrifice. He saw the new Stonehenge as a reminder that people were still being sacrificed to the war gods. Other Stonehenges — some serious, others not — are found around the country. There’s “Bamahenge” in Alabama, and “Carhenge” in Nebraska, for example. And there are two Stonehenges here in Texas. One is in the Hill Country. It’s about 90 percent the diameter of the original. The other is in Odessa, at the University of Texas-Permian Basin. It was designed and built by art students and faculty. Its blocks weigh 20 tons or more. And the site is aligned to the sunrises and sunsets on the solstices — just like its famous inspiration. Script by Damond Benningfield Support McDonald Observatory

In Wiltshire, England sits a prehistoric monument of epic proportions. Featuring a ring of standing stones each around 13 feet high, seven feet wide, and weighing about 25 tons, Stonehenge is a household name shrouded in folklore and fame. Constructed between 3,000 BC and 2,000 BC it has been legally protected since 1882 and was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. It’s an awe-inspiring and curious site for sure, and if we ever do a See the World Podcast, Stonehenge will be on the shortlist. But what if you can’t make the road trip to England to take in these stone wonders for yourself? Well, don’t worry, because here in the states we have our very own tribute to this magnificent monument, one that only dates back 33 years, and has replaced 25-ton stones with cars—and you only have to go as far as Nebraska to see it.This week, Carhenge, the 38 car tribute to England’s Stonehenge in Alliance, Nebraska.

On week 5 million of the quarantine, Kelly and Lindsey sit down with producer and former Nebraskan David Marker to talk about corn, Carhenge, and comic books. Because David was a math whiz and excelled in choir, Lindsey started the school day off with a mashup class that she sloppily named 'Machoir'. Look, Lindsey said that she was never going to teach another math class again and she had to get creative. Okay? Great. With math out of the way, Kelly then took us to Gym where we learned that the scoliosis check may or may not have been a hoax. Think about it. Bending all the kids over and running a finger down each student's back... Yeah, that was weird and we would love to know whose idea that was, thanks. After surviving all the awkward moments of gym classes past we skipped on over to Recess where we played some 'Fuck, Marry, Kill' with comic book characters in honor of Marker's former job working for DC comics. Would you fuck the Penguin? You wouldn't think so but when you find out who is playing him in the next Batman movie you just might change your mind. After Recess, Lindsey plays theatre teacher with a variation of the long-forgotten theatre game 'Party Quirks' where Kelly and Marker dazzle us with their acting skills and their lack of theatre knowledge. Because of Marker's past as a Teen Court judge, we end our school day in Teen Court where we dig into some old-timey crime stories and make it CW teen relatable. Marker ends the school day with a Nebraska quiz where he proves that no one, including himself, knows much of Nebraska the state but we do know a little bit about that 2013 movie called 'Nebraska' starring Will Forte. Who will win in the end? Hint: David Marker went to Yale, so, there's your answer. Today I briefly talk about why I don't leave my truck to go exploring very often. There is a reference to Jake's Famous Crawfish in Downtown Portland, Oregon though. Because it was just that awesome. But really today's episode makes me reach down inside myself to see if I have an artsy-fartsy side. So basically, this is here to get @darkstaff, @alanqbristol, and @DriverChrisMc to quit bugging me about never taking any pictures. But again, this is an audio podcast, so you'll have to go to the Web site to watch the video and see the pictures I took of Carhenge, which is America's piss-poor attempt to copy Stonehenge. All the pictures were taken and edited with the totally awesome Camera+ - tap tap tap">Camera+ app and the video was taken with a Flip Mino HD camera. The music in the video is a song by Walking On Einstein, which just so happen to be the same guys who you hear every episode in the intro and outro. You can download and keep both songs for free if you want to hear the whole songs! Thanks for allowing this, cool rocker-dudes! In the feedback section I talk about you peeps leaving links within the comments section of the blog. This was brought on by commenter Sherry and the link she was referring to is an article called "HOS - They Must Think Drivers are Solar Powered." Got a second to Rate and/or Review the podcast? Download the intro/outro songs for free! courtesy of Walking On Einstein. Mystery Feedback Song - Only a cheater would click this before listening to the podcast! You aren't a cheater, are you?
