Four weeks. A lot of ground covered. And one honest question to close it out:What conversation are you still avoiding? This week's episode is the June series closer, in two parts.Part 1 is a coaching session. Carolina sits with you and gets honest about where people actually get stuck at the end of a month like this. Three places:The person who understood everything and has not moved yetThe person who tried, and the conversation did not go wellThe person who realized the conversation they are most afraid to have is with themselvesPlus three things to carry forward , not as homework, but as a different way of living with this going forward.Part 2 is community Q&A. Four real questions, full coaching answers:How to stop freezing or backing down when you finally get into the roomWhat to do when you asked for the promotion and got vague feedback instead of a yesHow to handle the aftermath when a hard conversation made things awkwardHow to think through the risk when the conversation you need to have is with your bossIf you have been listening all month, this is the episode that makes it real. If this is your first episode of June, it is a complete coaching session that stands on its own.

Send a question or message to Kate & SamWelcome to Episode 13 of the Roadmap to Business Success series, and the final episode of Quadrant 3: Grow Smart | Scale with Ease!54% of founders are experiencing burnout. 75% report anxiety episodes. And two thirds have considered walking away from their business altogether, not because the business failed, but because they did.In this episode Kate and Sam get honest about hustle culture, what it actually costs you, and how to build a business that goes the distance without breaking the person running it."Your energy protects your business. Your systems protect your team. Your team protects your customers. Break any link in that chain and you cannot grow — because you cannot deliver."In this episode, you will learn:The burnout statistics that should stop every business owner in their tracks: 54% founder burnout rate, 75% reporting anxiety, and 70% citing working more than 60 hours a week as the primary cause — and why burnout, not bad strategy, is the biggest predictor of small business failureWhat growth actually looks like for you: Why the first and most important question is not how to scale, but what success actually means to you — and why the answer has to fit your personality, your zone of genius and the life you actually wantThe scaling myths that are keeping business owners stuck: Why "if you're not growing you're dying" is false, why fast scaling without solid foundations creates the exact businesses that break founders, and why revenue is vanity and profit is sanityThe identity shift from technician to business owner: Why the hardest part of scaling is not strategy or systems — it's letting go of the identity of being the person who does everything, and why that shift does not have to be all or nothingProcess debt: The business equivalent of never cleaning out your filing system — and why every new hire just inherits a mess that compounds over time if you do not fix it firstWhy systems protect your team: The difference between a good SOP and a great one — and why documenting the thinking behind the task, not just the steps, is what actually allows someone else to do it wellThe control paradox: Why perfectionism and the need for control are among the biggest obstacles to growth — and why the business owner is almost always the one who needs to change, not the teamZone of genius as a scaling strategy: Why you should never hire people to push you out of the work that energises you — and how to think about building a team that fills the rungs of the ladder you do not want to occupyThe wave principle: Why exertion requires equal rest and recovery — and why the spaciousness most business owners resist is actually where the magic happensUncoupling your time from your revenue: Real examples of how to scale a business so that your output is no longer dependent entirely on your hours — from off-the-shelf product lines to group coaching to AI systemsKate and Sam also share the story of a landscaping couple who spent three years resisting letting go — and what happened the moment they finally did. They discuss the bank code personality types and how your dominant type determines the kind of business you will enjoy running. And they tackle the question every business owner needs to ask: if you would tell your partner to quit a job that demanded this much of them, why are you accepting it from yourself? This episode wraps up Quadrant 3: Grow Smart | Scale with Ease. Next up — Quadrant 4: Lead with Impact. Self-awareness, emotional intelligence, values-based leadership and the inner game of building a business you are proud of.Join the Workshop: Kate and Sam are hosting the Grow Smart Workshop on Wednesday 24 June, 9–10:30am AWST | 11am–12:30pm AEST — bring your questions on scaling, business models, hiring and growth and get coached live.

In week two of a series on “being human,” the message focuses on how people are shaped by what they consume and rely on, comparing inner life to buckets filled by voices, habits, and culture. Using John 4, the speaker describes Jesus meeting an isolated woman at a well and revealing her pattern of broken relationships, then offering “living water” that satisfies beyond temporary sources. Through a bucket/container illustration, the sermon argues the issue isn't the container but the source, urging daily, not weekly, reliance on Scripture and prayer and asking listeners to pay attention to what is truly filling them.00:00 Announcements And Prayer01:30 Series Setup Being Human02:11 What Is Filling You03:53 Buckets And Guarding Heart05:23 Woman At The Well09:28 Thirsty Again Cycle13:04 Bucket Illustration16:29 Upgrading Containers Trap18:28 Different Source Of Life24:10 Daily Practices With Jesus28:47 Leaving The Water Jar31:08 Choose A Better Source33:14 Closing Prayer

Is your successor ready, today?Succession planning is one of the most universally acknowledged priorities in corporate America — and one of the most consistently neglected. In this episode of Shedding the Corporate Bitch, host and executive coach Bernadette Boas draws on 16 years of direct work with executives, HR leaders, and management teams to expose the real reasons succession planning keeps failing and what leaders can do about it starting this week.Bernadette opens with a challenge that hits close to home for many leaders: Who in your organization is ready to step into a critical role tomorrow, not after six months of development or a 90-day executive search, but tomorrow? If the answer doesn't come quickly, or comes with a knot in the stomach, this episode was made for you.Drawing from Deloitte research, DDI's Leadership Forecast 2025 (which surveyed over 10,000 leaders across 50 countries), and real-world coaching case studies, Bernadette makes a case that is both data-driven and deeply human: succession planning is not a talent shortage problem. It is a leadership preparation problem. And the cost of getting it wrong to the people, culture, and the bottom line is far greater than most organizations calculate until it's too late. What You'll LearnWhy 86% of leaders call succession planning urgent, yet fewer than 14% believe they do it wellThe three most common myths that keep leadership pipelines empty, including the one no one says in the boardroom but everyone feelsWhy "names on a list" is not the same as having a successor, and what a genuinely prepared successor actually requiresWhy the leaders who develop their successors most effectively are the ones who get promoted fastestHow to assess your succession plan for equity and diversity and why it matters strategically, not just ethicallySeven concrete, actionable strategies to build a leadership pipeline that is genuinely ready, starting this weekKey Timestamps[00:00] — Opening challenge: Who is ready to step up tomorrow?[01:00] — The data: What Deloitte and DDI tell us about succession planning[02:30] — Myth #1: Succession planning is an HR project[03:30] — Myth #2: We have successors, we have names on a list[04:00] — Myth #3: Succession is about the future; we have fires right now[05:30] — Challenge #1: Leaders don't want to develop their own replacement[08:30] — Challenge #2: High potentials are identified but not sponsored[10:00] — Challenge #3: The human and business cost of succession gaps[13:00] — Seven concrete strategies for proactive succession planning[21:00] — The case for proactive executive coaching (12–18 months before transition)[23:00] — Auditing your succession plan for equity[24:30] — Creating and reviewing a critical role map[25:30] — This week's challenge: One role, one name, one 90-day plan[28:00] — Episode recap and closing[29:00] — Leadership diagnostic calls: coachmebernadette.com/discoverycallResources & Links Mentioned

Together, they explore how businesses can navigate radical uncertainty in an age of exponential technological disruption and why AI should be seen as a tool for human advancement rather than a threat. From Google's pivots (“search-first” to “mobile-first” to “AI-first”) to lessons on experimentation, failure, and 10x thinking, Gopi pulls back the curtain on how the tech giant adapts in the face of constant change. He also offers a deeply human perspective: blending insights from his books The Happy Human and The Internet to the Inner-Net, his yoga practice, and his spiritual explorations of what he calls AI, NI (natural intelligence), and DI (divine intelligence). This conversation isn't just about artificial intelligence - it's about what it means to stay human, conscious, and purpose-driven while riding the waves of disruption.Listeners will gain insights into:Why moments of disruption are opportunities for nonlinear breakthroughsHow Google cultivates a culture of experimentation, iteration, and failing wellThe importance of 10x thinking over incremental improvementsWhy companies should start with business strategy - not an “AI strategy”How AI is already transforming industries like healthcare, retail, and entertainmentWhat AI, natural intelligence, and divine intelligence can teach us about consciousnessPractical steps leaders can take to embrace uncertainty and future-proof their organizationsWhether you're a CEO, entrepreneur, or simply curious about the intersection of AI and consciousness, this episode offers both strategic guidance and soulful wisdom.**If you enjoy this podcast, would you consider leaving a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Drawing on research into post-separation conflict and child wellbeing, she explains why collaboration is not always the safest or most appropriate pathway for families navigating high-conflict dynamics. You'll learn:What research actually says children need after parental separationWhen collaborative processes like mediation or FDR can work wellThe four conditions required for genuine collaborationHow collaborative processes can be misused in high-conflict separationsWhy pressure to "just co-parent better" can place vulnerable parents at greater riskHow to assess whether collaboration is truly viable in your situationFor some families, collaboration creates stability and reduces conflict. For others - particularly where coercive control, manipulation, or power imbalances are present - it can become another arena where harmful dynamics continue.Understanding the difference is one of the most important decisions a parent can make when navigating separation. This episode offers a clear framework to help parents assess their situation honestly and choose a path that protects both themselves and their children. As always, this episode is not legal advice and not therapy.Explore the supports offered by Danielle Black CoachingThe Post-Separation Parenting Blueprint™

Getting a seat at the senior table is one thing. Knowing how to use it well is something else entirely. This series demystifies what senior leadership really involves,We set out the core focus for the series: understanding what it truly takes to operate effectively at executive and senior leadership level. Rather than talking about strategy in theory, we explore the lived reality of sitting around the big table and the expectations that come with it.We introduce the idea of three distinct hats every senior leader must learn to recognise and consciously switch between. the common traps leaders fall into, and how we often underestimate the impact of behaviour at senior level. If you are already at the table, aspiring to be there, or simply curious about how senior teams really work, this episode sets the foundation for the series ahead.Key Points Discussed:The difference between functional expertise and executive leadershipWhy your “subject matter expert” hat is the most comfortable and potentially the most limitingThe shift from representing your function to owning organisational outcomesHow senior leaders share accountability for company-wide KPIs, not just their ownWhy competing objectives across teams create healthy tension – when handled wellThe hidden third hat: behavioural impact and team dynamics at the top tableHow informal roles (the challenger, the harmoniser, the driver) shape executive conversationsWhy poor dynamics at senior level are both costly and culturally contagiousThe importance of consciously switching hats rather than defaulting to habitKey Takeaway: Getting a seat at the senior table is an achievement. Using that seat well is a choice. Senior leadership requires more than deep functional expertise – it demands organisational ownership and behavioural awareness. The most effective leaders know which hat they're wearing, when to switch, and how their presence shapes the room.Next listen: If this topic resonates, you may also want to listen to our most popular episode from Series 4 with Indy Lachhar, who shares her perspective on the realities of being a Chief People Officer.Subscribe to the podcast so you do not miss upcoming guest episodes.Connect with us on LinkedIn and share the strategic leadership questions you want us to explore this series. If you enjoyed the show, please give is 5 stars! What if the energy you thought was gone forever… could be rebuilt from the inside out? What if the life you've been living to the minimum… could be transformed into one lived to the MAX?In this week's episode of One More Thing Before You Go, I sit down with Adrienne Simmons—health and wellness coach, solo entrepreneur, and self-proclaimed “energizer bunny”—to explore how she went from rock-bottom fatigue to radiant vitality. If we're going to teach you how you can achieve that as wellThe energy that you believed to be irretrievably lost may indeed be restored from within, and the existence you have been leading at a minimum can be elevated to one lived to its fullest potential. In this enlightening discourse, I engage with Adrienne Simmons, a health and wellness coach, who recounts her remarkable journey from debilitating fatigue to vibrant vitality. Through a combination of divine inspiration, thorough research, and a transformative shift in mindset, Adrienne meticulously reconstructed her energy from the cellular level, ultimately reclaiming her joy. This episode delves into the profound physical and emotional impacts of chronic fatigue, the spiritual awakening that ignited her metamorphosis, and the holistic principles of her energy-rebuilding program. As we explore these critical themes, we invite you to consider how you might awaken with purpose and engage with life more powerfully than ever before.Takeaways: Adrienne Simmons shares her journey from debilitating fatigue to vibrant energy, demonstrating that transformation is possible. The episode emphasizes the importance of holistic well-being, noting that sustainable energy encompasses physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions. Listeners are encouraged to examine their lifestyle choices, particularly as they age, to understand how these impact their vitality and energy levels. Adrienne's personal experience illustrates the significance of recognizing and responding to the body's needs, which can lead to profound changes in health and happiness. In this episode of The Patient From Hell, host Samira Daswani sits down with Dr. Cara Bohon, a clinical psychologist and researcher, to explore the unique mental health challenges faced by cancer patients and survivors. They discuss the role of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in cancer care, the complexities of treating cancer-related insomnia, and the shortage of mental health professionals trained in oncology.Dr. Bohon and Samira also review a PCORI-funded study led by Dr. Jun J. Mao, comparing the effectiveness of CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia) versus acupuncture for cancer-related insomnia. Dr. Bohon breaks down step-by-step sleep strategies for cancer patients, offering practical tools to improve sleep, emotional well-being, and cancer-related anxiety—even for those without access to therapy. This episode was supported by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and features this PCORI study by Jun J Mao, MD.Check out the free mental health resources mentioned in this episode from Veterans of America here.--Your Cancer GPS is here! Step-by-step breast cancer maps based on what others have gone through and what oncologists recommend.Key Highlights:Insomnia is a major issue for cancer patients and survivors alike – beyond just trouble sleeping, it exacerbates pain, fatigue, cognitive impairment, and emotional distress, making cancer treatment even more challenging.  The clinical trial covered in this episode found that cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) led to better sleep improvements compared to acupuncture, with lasting effects even after treatment ended. While acupuncture may not be as effective as CBT-I for sleep, it showed short-term benefits for managing cancer-related pain, which can still be valuable for your mental health as wellThe problem with therapy today is not just accessibility, but also the fact that many therapists aren't trained in psycho-oncology, making it difficult for cancer patients to find mental health support tailored to their unique challenges.  Techniques from CBT-I, such as sleep restriction, stimulus control, cognitive restructuring, and relaxation exercises, can significantly improve sleep quality—even for those who can't afford professional therapy.About our guest: Dr. Cara Bohon is a clinical psychologist and researcher from Stanford University with experience scaling delivery of evidence-based mental health treatments to meet the huge needs of patients across the United States. She led clinical programs and research at Equip Health, which addressed the demand for effective eating disorder treatment by providing training and virtual delivery of evidence-based eating disorder treatment across the country and is passionate about expanding her work in oncology in the future.Disclaimer: All content and information provided in connection with Manta Cares is solely intended for informational and educational purposes only. Whatever your beliefs regarding God or lack of a God as you work in emergency medicine, I hope this episode will uplift and encourage youNew panel! Welcome Pastor Daniel Grothe, ER Physician Eric and ER PA LaurieDaniel talks about the life of a pastor, which isn't exactly as we all might assume. He talks about being a brand new, young pastor and how he responded to the home after the suicide of a 16-year-old boyOne of his first calls as the pastor on-call was the death of a 7-month-old boyHis experience, being a young pastor, not fully trained in how to handle the most difficult of scenarios, but jumping in anyway is not dissimilar to being a new EMT or paramedicHe's not worrying about the medicine aspects like we do but his frequency of dealing with death and dying is very similar to my experienceHe talks about how we come into peoples lives where they are and try to bring healing to them, and this can be costly for us as wellThe ratios of doing the big things like weddings and sermons to the dealing with death and dying is not what you might expect as a pastor, a large portion of time is spent walking through the valley of the shadow of death with othersLaurie talks about an ER she used to work at and the amount of trauma they saw that was often not survivableI recount the cardiac arrest of a 4-year-old I ran years ago and how this caused me to wrestle with GodDaniel talks about the times he has wrestled with God. Including the time New Life Church had an active shooter on campus that killed two young girlsChristians often want to see things like the stories in the book of Acts, miracles. But Acts takes place in 5 cities over 40 years. So, Daniel says, stick around a place for 40 years and you will see all of those things happen while also attending funerals and seeing deathWhy do bad things happen to good people?Daniel looks at what we do as working on this side of eternity to participate with God to be God's representative to those that are sufferingWe all get into the field to help others, but this can get lost in the tasks we have to do during the dayWe have to remember that our actions and how we treat patients, regardless of complaint can demonstrate God's loveBurnout comradery is a problem when we all get in a feedback cycle of complaining about the day and the patients.  It might feel good in the moment, but it leads to burnout“That smelly homeless person that just puked on my shoes is made in the image of God”We can choose to be the peace and calm in every scenarioSupport the showFull show notes can be found here: Episodes - Practical EMS - Content for EMTs, PAs, ParamedicsMost efficient online EKG course here: Practical EKG Interpretation - Practical EMS earn 4 CME and learn the fundamentals through advanced EKG interpretation in under 4 hours.
