Pundits and podcasters have a lot to say about PM Mark Carney and his presumed policies on things like climate change and China, but here's why those issues don't actually matter in the 2025 Canada Election. In Episode 113 of The Bill Kelly Podcast, Bill discusses the current political climate in Canada as the election approaches. He addresses the overwhelming negativity and misinformation surrounding the candidates, the importance of candidate vetting by political parties, and the public's mindset as they prepare to vote. The conversation also touches on Canada's response to U.S. policies under Trump, the significance of leadership and historical context in political decisions, and the crucial role of voter turnout in determining the election outcome.Don't forget to like, follow and subscribe across our channels! We're back, diary fans, with another instalment from Gyles's diary. This one starts in the 1964 summer holidays, Gyles is 16, and he's off on a road trip with his Canadian cousin Johnnie. Gyles is not impressed. In the autumn it's time for the General Election and, at Bedales, the school mock election, in which Gyles is running as the Conservative candidate. He's also appearing as Isaac Newton in the school play, taking over the school magazine, and getting his O-level results. As usual, there's never a dull moment. This episode also features an extended chat from Gyles and Harriet at the start, and a couple of your emails. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

We're in the Endgame now. This week, we take a look at the incumbant Party, their chances and their polls numbers and we ask the question if this will all lead to another 5 years of Tory Rule. No prizes for guessing the answer I'm afriad but we take a look to after the election too, to see if a loss could actually lead to a fight for the heart of British Conversivatism itself.
On this week's podcast, James Sproule and Daniel Mahoney explain how markets in the UK and France have reacted differently to snap elections. How important are elections for the trajectory of economies? The latest episode of The Weekly Briefing from Capital Economics explains why the just-announced general election may not be hugely consequential for the UK economy, but also why South Africa's vote this coming Wednesday could prove momentous. Plus, an exclusive clip from our UK election briefing outlines some of the key issues around the July 4 vote, including the fiscal constraints that await the winner, structural reforms and this election's potential long-term economic impact.

Set against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions, this year will see elections taking place in markets that account for a combined 67% of global GDP. With the uncertainty that changes in leadership can bring, could these crucial votes lead to a slowing of investment in the energy transition as investors wait for the results and clear policy direction? On today's show, Dana is joined by BloombergNEF's Head of Global Policy, Victoria Cuming, and US policy analyst, Derrick Flakoll. Together they discuss the implications for the Inflation Reduction Act should Donald Trump return to the White House, how useful polling data really is, and if growing right-leaning sentiment will be reflected in the upcoming European Parliament elections.
