Moonfall—written and directed by the master of "Disaster Movies" Roland Emmerich—is, quite ironically, a disaster of a movie. Essentially, in Moonfall, the Moon is on a crash course with earth because malevolent artificial intelligence (AI) has knocked it off its axis. Oh, and the moon is actually a megastructure that was created by an ancient population in the far distant past. That society built the Moon to escape the evil AI, ensuring their species—us, or humanity rather—would be able to survive. None of this is a joke. Without Bruce Willis and his mining crew to save Earth, we're left with Samwell Tarley and Orm, a disgraced astronaut who encountered the asshole AI ten years prior. Anyway, loads of dumb stuff happens, CGI gets vomited all over the screen, unearned family feels occur, and, ultimately, the day is saved. We can only expect that Emmerich consulted several moronic conspiracy theorists while writing it. Hence why it received mediocre reviews—36% on Rotten Tomatoes with 214 of them–and failed to recoup its sizable budget. It earned just $67.3 million worldwide on a budget as high as $150 million. For Emmerich, who independently produced this nonsense, Moonfall was a financial crater. Now, sit back, send your tastebuds into orbit with a Space Dust IPA from Elysian Brewing, and be wary of space conspiracy theories! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Chumpzilla, Capt. Cash, and Bling Blake are sending nukes to the Moon! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – In 2022, Humanity will face the dark side of the Moon! (00:00) Lingering Questions – Is there any possible way to fix this movie? (41:34) The "Super Structure" Trivia Challenge – The Double Turn Podcast outwrestles the rogue AI, and then Bling Blake challenges the field to trivia about the Moon. (1:06:52) Recommendations – We offer our picks for the week and next up: We kickoff "Hops and Xtreme Flops," with the rollerblading classic, Airborne! (1:20:46) And, as always, hit us up on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to check out all the interesting factoids—the potential sequels and more—from this week's episode! Welcome to Beats, Beards & Brews' 2022 celebration of everything fall. OK, so we swapped out Weezer's SZNZ: Autumn for Sumerlands Dreamkiller ... but Dreamkiller brings to mind A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors so that still fits the fall episode theme, right? Absolutely. Good. Great. Sumerlands' songs previewed during this episode include: "Dreamkiller" "Edge of the Knife" "Night Ride" Next up, Eric shares his favorite fall beard oils. These include: Smoked Pumpkin (new fall scent from T3 Beard Co.) Hitchhiker & Traveler (fall scents from Iowa Beard Co.) Live Deliciously (year-round scent from Last Looks Grooming) Finally the boys— or boys and men — drink and review The Great Pumpkin Imperial Pumpkin Ale by Elysian Brewing and CaramelCrisp Caramel Popcorn Ale by Revolution Brewing, which are both flavor experiences. Elysian Brewing Full Contact is an Imperial Hazy IPA by style. Cloaked in a semi-translucent haze, an imposing presence beckons you to come closer. As you do, your nose opens to a tangent of wistful memories — peach season in the orchard, a tangerine tree on a hill, fresh honeydew cold from the fridge, and a vanilla cream soda in your hand. What kind of bittersweet initiation is this? This craft beer is 8.8% ABV and 60 IBUs. In this craft beer review, we will take a look at the color, smell, and taste.
Elysian Brewing Altered Contact is a Tart/Sour IPA by style. Altered contact rewires your perception of IPAs with it's electrifyingly tart and juicy demeanor. Plug into galvanized notes of orange, tangerine, mango, and pineapple, There's no turning back now. This craft beer is 6.8% ABV and 33 IBUs. In this craft beer review, we will take a look at the color, smell, and taste.
Elysian Brewing Contact Haze is a Hazy IPA by style. The day the world stood still and Elysian brewed a hazy IPA. Rules were broken to bring you contact haze, a tangled chemistry of mild haze, low bitterness, and an explosion of hop aroma. Bursts of bright raspberry, currant, citrus, guava, and passion fruit, with a slight floral note. This craft beer is 6% ABV and 39 IBUs. In this craft beer review, we will take a look at the color, smell, and taste.
EP 275 - Slayed For TV "TV will rot your brains" The typical warning that every one of us has heard at one time or another from a parent, concerned that our constant intake of Ren & Stimpy and Are You Afraid Of The Dark was going to destroy our retinas and turn our gray matter to mush. If you're anything like us, your response to your parents would always be the same, "Mom..... Death to videodrome, long live the new flesh." At which point your parents immediately threw out the television and got you the best therapist money could buy. Total overreaction. This week grabbed some Altered Contact Tart IPA from Elysian Brewing, and killed some braincells with a couple of flicks about the dangers of the small screen. Cheers!!! Follow us! Jason Asberry & Jesse Schobel of Stormruler & I have a conversation about how they coped with 2020, their 1st brews, the soundtrack to their youths, their 1st shows, Under the Burning Eclipse, the Book of Bring It, a Stormruler Brew & their hangover cure. Throughout this conversation, Jason enjoyed Ale Asylum 's "Road Crew" the 5%ABV American Pale Ale & Civil Life Brewing Company "s "Angel & Sword" the 4.6% ABV English Extra Special / Strong Bitter (ESB) while Jesse enjoyed Elysian Brewing 's "Contact Haze" the 6% ABV Hazy IPA & 4 Hands Brewing Company 's "Contact High" the 5% ABV Wheat Beer. I enjoyed Lupulone 's brand new brew called "Cadors". This 6.5% ABV IPA was brewed with Ella, Vic Secret & Galaxy Hops as well as with a special strain of yeast that gives off some wild earthy characteristics yet it is not actually a Brett yeast. It poured out with a gorgeous yellow hazy veil, slapped grapefruit on the nose, smashed a chalky juicy tropical finish. Vox&Hops Brewtal North America is here!!!
