In this Enneagram and Coffee podcast episode, I explore the relationship dynamics between Enneagram Type One and Type Five. I discuss how both types, being competency-focused, might prioritize logic over emotions, potentially leading to challenges. I identify specific triggers for each type and advise on how they can positively influence one another. I stress the need for both types to attend to their emotional well-being to prevent issues from arising indirectly. The episode provides insights into fostering a balanced, intimate relationship between these two personality types. -- Notion Templates here - www.sarajanecase.com/shop Call/text your enneagram questions to (828) 338-9127 Grab a copy of my books at www.thehonestenneagram.com & www.theenneagramletters.com Check out my YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/sarajanecase Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of the Awareness to Action Enneagram podcast, Mario Sikora, María José Munita and Seth "Creek" Creekmore dive into the three Enneagram subtypes for Type One, “Striving to Feel Perfect.” But first, they discuss their criteria for dissecting the subtypes, reminding us that data points are part of the story and not the whole story.“Preserving Ones are more rigid. There's something more serious, I think, about Preserving Ones. They're less difficult to mistype.” -María José [12:28]“Ones are ambitious people. Ones want to do things the right way, because doing your job and doing it right, doing it with excellence, is part of being perfect.” -Mario [34:17]“Again listener, make sure you're taking all these sort of talking points as data points.” -Creek [35:47]TIMESTAMPS[00:00] Intro[01:59] New Instagram page[02:56] Criteria first[05:25] Data is part of the story[10:16] Preserving One[13:47] Navigating One[18:25] Pattern of Expression[24:55] Transmitting One[28:24] Common mistypes[31:09] Pattern of Expression for Transmitting One[33:47] Navigating One mistyping[35:56] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on DemandIG: @ataenneagrampodMario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comPod: Enneagram in a MovieBook: Awareness to Action: The Enneagram, Emotional Intelligence, and ChangeMaria Jose Munita: IG: @mjmunitaWeb: mjmunita.comSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @_creekmorePod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional Optimism
In this episode of the Awareness to Action Enneagram podcast, Mario Sikora, María José Munita and Seth "Creek" Creekmore start their series discussing the types, aka the strategies, in the Awareness to Action Enneagram model. They start with Enneagram Type One, “Striving to Feel Perfect,” by discussing what it means in theory and through María José's personal experience.“One of the things that I'm really proud of is how you can use it in a way that perfectionism doesn't capture you, but you decide what perfection is.” -María José [05:31]“It's fueling your desire for the most ideal situation to occur. I can definitely resonate with that and find myself being paralyzed as well in certain situations.” -Creek [10:09]“We have to be aware of the complexity of the connecting points to really understand the types, and you can't understand a One if you don't understand their relationship to the strategy of Point Seven.” -Mario [32:19]TIMESTAMPS[00:01] Intro[01:28] How biases slip into the types and biases[05:01] What it feels like when the strategy is used really well[06:50] Looking for ways to make things better[07:49] Being a perfectionist vs striving to feel perfect[13:47] What it means to striving to feel perfect[19:13] How self-critical Ones are[22:39] The connecting points[33:31] How striving to feel unique makes you a better person[38:37] Another way this strategy manifest[40:27] What the hosts appreciate about Ones[43:27] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on Demand Mario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comPod: Enneagram in a MovieMaria Jose Munita: IG: @mjmunitaWeb: mjmunita.comSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @creekmoremusicPod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional Optimism

In this episode, Mario Sikora, TJ Dawe and TJ Ingrassia discuss the character, Captain America, through the films, “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: Civil War.” They examine Captain America as an Enneagram Type One, “Striving to Feel Perfect,” and explore the moral and ethical questions raised in both films.“I just found him incredibly inspiring, and I loved him, really. And I can see why he's such a good example of how a healthy One is inspiring. They're the kind of leader that you would follow until the end of the Earth.” - TJ Dawe [07:50]“I just found it really interesting there. That this very clear and consistent Type Seven character was almost taking the position of what we would often think the One position would be.” - Mario Sikora [56:13]“Sometimes Ones just need to take a little break, have a little fun. Today we are starting our Wholehearted EnneaSummer with a new friend, and Enneagram One, Jen Pollock Michel. I invited her on the podcast to share about her newest book, A Habit Called Faith. I'm a big fan of habits or at least making good ones, so a book to encourage building my faith habit is something I wanted to know more about. I was not disappointed in our conversation and in fact as I listened through a second time, I was taking notes on her wisdom about motherhood and launching adults, how the Enneagram has served her motherhood as she parents young adults, and even in how she cultivates her faith habits. I'm fairly confident you are going to enjoy Jen as much as I did!Interested in specific episodes about the Enneagram Type One? **Episodes include SPOILERS.** TRIGGER WARNING: While we don't go into great detail, they do dive a little more fully into specific trauma. We recognize we are all in different spaces in different moments and want to give those who are potentially not quite ready for these heavier moments to skip them during minutes 28-32. In this episode Naki and Karin take you through themes in Chapter 10 of HP and the Sorcerer’s Stone. They talk about the risk of adventure and how responsibilities change our sense of what we are willing to risk, the joy of getting back at bullies, defense mechanisms, being united through shared trauma, how much our words matter, and looking at the Enneagram Type One as depicted by Hermione Granger. Too many people have been hurt by a church in their past, because church has become something that it was never meant to be: an event or building that we attend. At WellHouse, we believe that the people of God are the church and that the love of God should be experienced through the people of God. So, WellHouse has returned to a New Testament expression of our faith by meeting in homes and dedicating ourselves to: the teaching of the scriptures, the fellowship of the believers, the breaking of bread together, and praying together for one another. We are focused on being a genuine expression of Christian hospitality and service to our community and the people of our community. At WellHouse we want to be a place where people can Be Real, Be Relational, and Be Restored. As our leadership was dreaming up this vision, we looked at Scripture and saw that the earliest expressions of the church met in homes and it was rare that all of the believers were together. Today, most churches have found themselves spending a large portion of their budget on buildings that they rarely use. Not WellHouse. We want to keep our overhead low so we can spend our money on the things that matter, being the hands and feet of Jesus. So, we meet in the homes of our members for the majority of our meetings. Once per month, we all come together at a rented facility to devote our selves together as the whole church for the purpose of worshipping God together.

The Enneagram Type One: The Reformer It’s EnneaTalk Tuesday, and this week we are officially diving into our series—starting off with The One: The Reformer, and how to lead, learn, laugh, and love a One. Even if you are not a Type One, chances are that you either are leading, loving, or friends with one, and listening to this episode can help you truly see eye-to-eye with each other, minimize miscommunication, and help you see, hear, and understand them. Listen to this episode to hear the do’s and don’ts when communicating with a One, their healthy attributes and core motivations, how to help them navigate towards growth, and recognize when they are under stress. Listen to this episode for everything you need to know when leading, learning, laughing, and loving a One. Knowing your type so you can better know yourself I begin this episode by explaining how the Enneagram can help us get out of the box the world has put us in, and how it can be used as our greatest tool to understand one another. I describe what it means for the One to be part of the body triad, how they primarily show up based on instinct and tuition, and how overall, they are rational, idealistic, principled, purposeful, and perfectionistic—how integrity means everything to them. Communicating and supporting a One I describe their core motivations and how the right or wrong communication can impact their self-confidence and morale, how to support them and recognize when the behaviors they fall into become unhealthy. I dig into what it is like to be in a relationship with a One, how to be effective when communicating with them, and what it takes to show up in their love language through affirmation and appreciation. Embracing and recognizing the One’s gifts I share the One’s gifts, what you can learn from them, how to lead them and guide them in growth, how they can internalize criticism, be their own worst critic, and how to help them be the best version of themselves. I discuss where they go when their healthy, how to support their laughter, and the very things that make them unique and special in this world. If you are a One, lean into your gifts, show yourself compassion, and enjoy what life has to offer.Quote:“Even if you’re not a 1, chances are either you’re parenting one, you’re leading one, you’re in love with one, or you have a friend that’s one.” :27“It’s really, really important that if you are interested in using the Enneagram as a tool for yourself for self awareness in business, in leadership, parenting that you yourself are typed properly.” 2:17“The type 1 falls into the body category, which means that they primarily show up, operate, communicate based on instincts and intuition.” 4:01“The motive of the 1 is that you believe that you must be good and right to be worthy.” 4:45“Their focus of attention for a Type One is always what is right or wrong, correct and incorrect, they’re very black and white.” 6:01“Dismissing them is not something that you want to do, you kind of have to use kid gloves, and I mean that with the most respect.” 9:51“If you love a 1 or you’re leading a 1, trying to get them to lighten up and have more fun—it’s important, however you have to be careful it isn’t at the cost of judging their integrity or something that they deem is important.” 13:11“It’s a beautiful thing for a 1, they will go to the ends of the earth and they’re willing to make great personal sacrifices for the wellbeing of the people that they love.” 18:33“If their partner criticizes them or has something to say, that’s where the melodramatic can come in but they can also become critical of their partner, like nagging and nitpicking.” 21:24“If you’re gonna challenge the opinion of a Type One, make sure you do it with affirming some positivity in the front end.” 26:03“When you’re surrounded by 1’s, just know that things can go very smoothly, humor them a little bit, you can have fun with their perfectionists ways, but it’s really important that we let them have fun without disrespecting their standards.” 31:33

We're kicking off our Enneagram Summer of Self-Awareness with a conversation about Reformers and our friend Kim's insights about what it's like to live life dominant in Type One. The core motivation, or need, for an Enneagram Type One is to be perfect. Idealistic, ethical, and self-controlled, Ones are constantly looking to improve or “set-to-rights” their surroundings. They are sometimes seen as hypercritical and fixated and seek to avoid fault or blame. Relationships are difficult when they resist the vulnerability essential for intimacy. Criticism is unbearable for Ones, and the fear of failure can be paralyzing. In health, they are responsible, dependable, methodical, and they can truly make the world a better place.MentionsBrené Brown's interview with Chris HeuertzMarilyn Vancil's Self to Lose, Self to FindJust in case you may have missed some of our other discussions or want to refresh your memory, check out this list of episodes: The Enneagram (overview)Enneagram and Relationships (w/ Sarajane Case)Enneagram and Identity (w/ Chris Heuertz)Becoming Your Own Guru e-course audio files (Patreon)Prefer to read? Enneagram Type 1's – The Perfectionist or Reformer – are rational, idealistic types. They are principled, purposeful, self-controlled, and perfectionistic. These are conscientious, dependable people who bring clarity and order to life. However, their belief that there is only one way to do things correctly can make them rigid and intolerant. On this episode of the The Behaviorist, Work Wisdom's Kimberlee Peifer is joined by Wes Reminder, Director of Operations at Godfrey, Salina Almanzar, Visual Artist and Graduate Studies Professor at Drexel University Westphal College of Art and Design, and Mike McKenna, President at Tabor Community Services. These three self-identifying Type 1's discuss how knowing their type has helped give them a new set of language for the way they view the world and the way they engage their work. They share their experience of the deep sense of justice they carry, the uncovering of their dominant emotion anger and how that shows up in each of their lives, the intense voice of their ‘inner critic', learning to take compliments, being attentive to others' needs versus projecting expectations of perfection onto them, and talking through the behaviors they access from Type 4 and Type 7. If you are a Type 1, or someone who works with or loves a Type 1, this podcast is a must-listen! This week we take a look at what it means to be an Enneagram Type One and how their tendencies reflect Jesus!
The best self-care practices for enneagram type one is explained inside. It's a subject I'm delighted to talk with an actual type one on what this looks like in life. Self-care is a buzzy word and with good intention. The fast-paced lifestyle of hustle hasn't done much for our health. While it's not to say you can't hustle - it is to say that you need some extra self-care to do it without losing yourself in the process. But did you know self-care isn't just about fuzzy bath bombs and coconut buns? The word origin dates back to ancient Greece, where it was used to describe an in-depth knowledge of self. Knowing how you work, what you need, and then deciding how to provide that. It wasn't another standard or benchmark but a knowledge of self. I recorded an entire podcast on the subject and why the enneagram is so vital to true self-care. Honestly, it made me love self-care for what it is rather than for doing it, hoping to achieve something. The Ennea-health series was born from this. A place of actual knowledge to take action, creating a healthier life that is who you are not what you do. Today we continue digging into the Enneagram type one through an interview with a dear friend and type one. Today I talk with Shelby about her health journey and how she has learned to use her strengths to overcome her health hurdles. Learn all the details and what this could mean for you inside the podcast. Learn more: https://simplerootswellness.com/182

John Chandler, thanks to the apostle Paul, spent a great deal of time talking about circumcision and excrement. Quotes and links mentioned: Saul clung to his zeal and force of will. Sounding like the prototypical Enneagram Type One that he was, after his conversion he described this as his desire to attain perfection by the strength of his efforts.
