In this episode of Look Behind The Look, I delve into the vibrant world of the film Emilia Pérez with the head of the makeup department, Julia Floch-Carbonel. The film stars Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña as you have never seen them, and everyone is talking about Karla Sofía Gascón this awards season. We explore the intricate artistry behind the film's makeup design, discussing the creative processes that brought the characters to life. We also touch on the film's controversial aspects, inviting listeners to engage in the broader conversation surrounding its reception.Julia shares her journey of working with renowned director Jacques and how the collaboration evolved from their previous project. She provides insights into the unique challenges and rewarding experiences of crafting the film's visual narrative, including the symbolic transition of the main character and the collaborative efforts with costume designers like Virginie Montel… Speaking of costumes, just imagine the costume department's surprise when Saint Laurent came on to the project 3 weeks before shooting had a few new ideas (!)The episode highlights the meticulous preparation and creative freedom that allowed the team to push boundaries and create an authentic yet stylized portrayal of the characters. From the influence of opera and musical elements to the innovative choreography, Julia offers a behind-the-scenes look at the dedication and passion that fueled the film's success.00:00:00 Welcome!00:05:07 So tell me how it came into your life to work with Jacques00:10:28 Everything centers around the mouth because it says something about the character00:14:19 The transformation of Rita (Zoe Saldaña)00:17:17 Saint Laurent came, um, along three weeks before we shoot00:19:03 Film references that inspired Emilia Pérez00:22:20 What was the hardest film to shoot? Neural Implant podcast - the people behind Brain-Machine Interface revolutions
"Welcome to today's episode! Our guest, Paul Le Floch, co-founder and CEO of Axoft, brings innovation to neural implants. With roots in France and a Harvard PhD, he's leading groundbreaking work. Welcome, Paul!" Top 3 Takeaways: "It's a good time to ask the question: What if we could develop solutions tailored for this problem instead of borrowing from the semiconductor industry? That's what Axsoft is about. We emphasize developing soft materials that offer better long-term biocompatibility. Additionally, these materials are suitable for micro and nano fabrication and remain stable inside the brain." "The advantage is that when we identify something that doesn't work well, we can modify it because we designed the materials. The key is that we've developed an innovation that functions effectively, but we also acknowledge that it's not the final version of the system. The difference is that we can revisit it at the polymer chemistry level and alter the material's composition, structure, or introduce additives to enhance stability or mechanical properties." "At early stage, there is iteration. There is improvement over time. And at some point you need to take this leap of faith that your technology actually has a good edge, that you have enough, you will have enough resources to make it competitive. And I think we were confident enough about that and about our approach." 0:30 Can you introduce yourself better than I just did? 1:00 Is Axoft a spinoff? 5:00 How do you know your material is better? 9:00 Why did you go the startup route vs the academia route with this technology? 12:30 How do you let investors know that this is a long term startup? 14:00 Why did you choose the dilutive vs nondilutive route? 15:30 What indication is the material best for? 17:00 Where are you guys in terms of the lifecycle? 19:45 How big is the team and what are current challenges? 22:30 Where do you see neurotech in 10 years? 23:45 Anything that we didn't talk about that you wanted to mention?

Have you ever stayed silent on a topic out of fear that you don't know enough? That you'll say the wrong thing? Or that you'll be cancelled from a group of people? Me too! In this episode, I'm graciously held by my friend Lauren while I share an experience that unfolded earlier this year. This conversation is important to have and also hard to navigate. During the process of creating this episode, I battled a lot of mind chatter questioning if this story is even worthy of being made public. I felt like I needed to be very careful with my words and am still holding a lot of fear around how this could be misunderstood. The good girl conditioning and people pleasing tendencies that I've been working hard to unlearn and heal from have been creeping in, and I've also been practicing deep self compassion and space holding for myself. I invite you to be open and curious as you're listening and please reach out and share any reflections or musings that come alive for you. When it comes to the idea of masculinity, much of the world is mistakenly confusing what true masculine energy is with the immature, boy centered version of this energy we commonly see running amok in todays world. This is, in a big part, due to us losing many of the wise elders & initiatory processes that have been used since the dawn of time to help boys evolve into men within society. This being said, there is now a big movement within the world of self development to fill in this missing gap & allow the true divinity of masculine nature to once again come forth. This version of masculinity is not afraid of the divine feminine, as the immature masculine is & instead recognizes that the balance between these two energies, which is often referred to as the concepts of yin & yang, is essential to a mature, balanced approach to being a true man. Todays guest on the show is a man who is spearheading this movement, both within his own development as a mature man through self development programs & practices & in the work he does with men, such as his work as lead coach for the Alpha Hippie program, which I went through & can speak to the incredible benefits of maturing as a man that the program is centered around. In addition, he is also a dear brother of mine who has shared in some absolutely incredible memories within my life & in this episode, we will be diving into his journey, what tips he has for men listening that are looking to embark on this path & much, much more.Show Notes:(4:13) Dealing with addictions.(12:23) Check out FreedomBuilderz.com! Australia is turning up the volume on environmentalism for the world to hear! If you turned on your favorite music radio station, would you know we're in a crisis? Only 1% of songs in National Australian premier radio station Triple J's Hottest 100 (2.5M+ votes) over the last 5 years directly referenced environmental issues…and that's following mass bleaching of The Great Barrier Reef, The devastating Australian Bushfires of 2019-2020, AND a recent study before COP26 that reported 75% of Australians are concerned about climate change. So why is Australian mainstream music so culturally disconnected from a population overwhelmingly environmentalist? We know artists, bands, and musicians have been and are currently creating environmentally-minded music, so how do we get those songs into the mainstream? Our guest today, Edwina Floch, recently launched The Environmental Music Prize - A new $AU 20,000 prize that amplifies the voices of artists who inspire action for climate and conservation. The prize launched during the UN Climate Summit, and it's a global first and a call-to-action for artists to create and submit powerful music videos that celebrate nature and encourage us to defend it. SASAGEYO! We're back this week to talk about episode 86 "Retrospective." We're not really sure what about this episode made it retrospective but we get retrospective about the past and the future state of AoT. Amelia just now realizes Mikasa is GOAT... well second to Levi, obvi.. because in this episode Mikasa really showed us just how much she's grown. The Marleyan Titan duo gets annihilated trying to get the IT guys to the airship, Floch gives a less than awe-inspiring speech than his former captain, and Magath and Shadis finally meet and reconcile just in time to become heroes for the history books. https://linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
