There was a phony article going around that Jello Biafra was going to reunite with East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride to once again be The Dead Kennedys. It's not true, but why do the DKS have such beef? Let's examine some of the feud with this Jello Biafra interview about the legal case involving a lawsuit between band members.FRUMESS is POWERED by www.riotstickers.com/frumessJOIN THE PATREON FOR LESS THAN A $2 CUP OF COFFEE!!https://www.patreon.com/Frumess

Jello Biafra is a punk rock icon who spoke with Jesse Luscious for this exclusive and extensive interview on the occasion of his 1st record in 7 years "Tea Party Revenge Porn" with his full-time band JELLO BIAFRA AND THE GUANTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. Of course, being Jello Biafra, there are a lot of twists and turns, from personal stories about GWAR to his long-running side project LARD with AL JOURGENSEN of MINISTRY to everyone's favourite Latino Brujos BRUJERIA to how the remixed DEAD KENNEDYS "Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables" compares with remixed STOOGES albums to how releasing music has changed over the years and so much more! He even finds time to add a couple, two, three words about US and international politics including bonus material about Boris Johnson and Jimmy Saville!  Jesse Luscious, who hosts Losin' It With Luscious every Monday night 8pm GMT on MMH Radio, worked for Jello Biafra for 15 years. 10 of those years he ran Jello's record label, Alternative Tentacles Records. He's seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. He watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate...

Hardcore Humanism with Dr. Mike

This week I had the pleasure of talking on The Hardcore Humanism Podcast with none other than the legendary Jello Biafra. Many people know Biafra – born Eric Reed Boucher -- as the front man of the seminal hardcore punk group Dead Kennedys. Dead Kennedys are generally considered one of the greatest punk rock bands of all time, and both Rolling Stone and Revolver have called their album Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables one of the greatest punk rock records of all time. And Biafra is considered by many to be one of the greatest punk rock vocalists of all time, with Far Out Magazine succinctly concluding, “…Jello Biafra was truly one of a kind.” More recently Biafra has been working with his band, Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, on their new album Tea Party Revenge Porn. For many people, Biafra was not only a great vocalist, songwriter and performer, but also the living embodiment of the confrontation of authority. Confronting authority artistically and politically often revealed one of Biafra’s gifts -- to be able to take complex issues such as racism and censorship and point us in a direction that seemed ultimately straightforward: racism is wrong, free speech is important. And yet, not all confrontations of authority can be so neatly divided into right and wrong, or good and evil. So, I was very grateful to discuss with Biafra what is for many of us the most complicated confrontation – our understanding and connection with our parents. For many of us, our parents are our first authority figures and how we resolve the confrontation with our parents’ authority can have an impact on how we see ourselves, the world, and how we approach future conflict. Biafra and I spent a great deal of our conversation talking about his relationship with his father, the late Stanley Boucher. Stanley Boucher was a psychiatric social worker who among other things was truly committed to working towards improving community access to mental health care. And one of the interesting things that emerged from that conversation was that even for someone as bold and strident as Biafra, how we understand our parents can be confusing and complicated. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Jello Biafra and find some insights that can be helpful in your life and in your relationships with your parents! If you enjoy the podcast, I’d be so grateful if you’d leave a rating and review!

This week we sit down to discus Black Flag, another legendary band from the 1980's West Coast punk scene. Or was it the hardcore scene? Was there really ever a difference? Maybe we'll find out along the way. We talk about the many, many members of the band, its history, and some of their most influential work. We also dedicate an oddly long amount of time talking about Henry Rollins' mysteriously large filmography.

It's a heaping dose of horror on this week's Dread Media! First up, Desmond and Darryll review the slasher classic Intruder. Then Devil Dinosaur Jr. reviews See No Evil in a brand new Stay Scary. Desmond returns to discuss two relatively recent comic book hardcover releases: Creepy Presents Richard Corben and Spirit World by Jack Kirby. Check it out! Tunes are here, too! "Strength Thru Shopping" by Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, "Intruder" by Primus, "See No Evil" by Pretty Lightning, "Kill in the Spirit World" by Black Sabbath, and "Cold Machines" by Alice Cooper.
