A chaque fois que j'entends des gars ranger Plastic Bertrand dans la catégorie des artistes qui ont fait un tube et puis plus rien, ça m'énerve. C'est vrai, comment ignorer qu'après le phénomène planétaire de Ca plane pour moi qui a détrôné les Sex Pistols dans l'imaginaire que le grand public avait du punk, il y a eux cinq autres tubes, en France et en Belgique, en moins de trois ans.Vous connaissez sans doute l'histoire racontée par le créateur de la chanson, feu Lou Deprijck, alors la voix du Two Man Sound, qui connaissait aussi un succès considérable dans le monde. Et ben oui, la firme de disques veut un successeur à Ca plane pour moi. Et un album. Et comme il est du sérail, du monde des producteurs, et que c'est le pactole, ben, Lou ne va pas dire non. C'est donc la raison pour laquelle si vous avez connu l'époque, vous connaissez inévitablement cette chanson Super Cool, et celle-là, Sentimentale-moi, et puis … Houla Hop, et encore Téléphone mon bijou, et puis aussi cette improbable collaboration avec un membre de Telex … Tout petit la planète … Ah on est bien loin du punk, là. Il est vrai que le punk, en tant que musique et mouvement, et surtout le son, tout le monde s'en est vite éloigné, il suffit d'écouter la discographie des Clash ou Police pour s'en convaincre.Pourtant, le duo pygmalion Deprijck Plastic Bertrand remet le couvert devant toutes les caméras de télévision et sur les radios. Car si Ca plane pour moi a été le grand N°1 de l'année, son successeur a été N°4 et a aussi traversé les frontières de la Belgique et de la France, et pas seulement grâce aux longues ondes.Pour ceux qui s'en souviennent, quand on l'a entendu, on ne l'a pas cru, puisque c'est une reprise électrique et speedée d'une chanson de Dalida. Dalida ! En 1978, alors que Téléphone secoue la chanson française, Dalida et le punk, c'est l'eau et le feu. On crie d'autant plus au casse-cou que le successeur d'un immense tube est celui qui, en cas de réussite, lance définitivement la carrière d'un artiste, celui qu'il ne faut pas manquer car sinon, c'est les oubliettes.Mais ça marche ! Qui y a vu une référence à Johnny Hallyday qui faisait d'une chanson de Dalida son premier tube au premier single ? … T'aimer follement … il avait d'ailleurs remis ça avec un Petit Bikini … Alors pas sérieux le Plastic Bertrand, si le taulier l'avait déjà fait ? Et quand on sait que quelques mois plus tard, le bassiste des Sex Pistols reprendra My Way de Frank Sinatra … En tout cas, c'est un carton, et Plastic Bertrand devient une vedette, un copain d'une nouvelle époque. Et si Bambino figure aujourd'hui au Paradis des tubes oubliés, qu'est-ce qu'on l'a entendu à la radio et vu à la télé.

Dans cet épisode de L'invité de la matinale, David Abiker reçoit le pianiste Alexandre Tharaud, auteur du livre Touché, paru aux éditions Grasset. Il revient sur ses débuts au piano et la façon dont son environnement familial musical a façonné sa vocation.Issu d'une famille de musiciens, Alexandre Tharaud a baigné dans la musique dès son plus jeune âge. Il évoque ses premiers souvenirs du piano, ce « gros piano, très vieux piano en chêne, avec les pédales en laiton », qui lui paraissait « gigantesque » lorsqu'il n'était qu'un enfant de 3-4 ans. Très tôt, il a commencé à explorer cet instrument, attiré par le « son magique » qu'il pouvait produire.Le pianiste se remémore avec émotion sa première professeure, Carmen Tacón de Vena, qui a su l'accompagner dans ses débuts et lui faire découvrir les subtilités du jeu pianistique. Il souligne l'importance du premier professeur dans la vie d'un musicien, celui qui apprend à l'élève « à faire un beau son, à parler avec le piano, à chanter » et à développer une véritable intimité avec l'instrument.Alexandre Tharaud raconte également comment il a appris à faire « chanter le piano » avec le petit doigt, grâce aux conseils de sa professeure et à l'étude de la première étude opus 25 de Chopin. Il évoque avec enthousiasme cette découverte, qui lui a permis de comprendre que « un petit peut avoir beaucoup plus d'envergure qu'un grand ».Cependant, la vocation d'Alexandre Tharaud n'a pas été un chemin tout tracé. Bien qu'issu d'un environnement familial favorable à la musique, il se décrit comme un enfant « paresseux » et « rêveur », peu enclin à travailler sérieusement le piano. Son professeur s'interrogeait alors sur ses réelles capacités à devenir pianiste.Mais c'est aussi dans cet environnement familial et de voisinage que se sont forgés les souvenirs les plus marquants d'Alexandre Tharaud . Il raconte ainsi comment, pendant des années, les leçons de piano ont été parasitées par les bruits incessants d'un disque de Plastic Bertrand, diffusé en boucle par une voisine « complètement folle et dangereuse ». Une expérience qui a laissé des traces, mais qui n'a pas empêché le jeune pianiste de poursuivre sa formation et de s'épanouir dans sa carrière.Aujourd'hui, Alexandre Tharaud a su conserver une part de cet esprit enfantin, en s'amusant à déposer de petites figurines sur les touches de son piano et à partager ces instants ludiques sur les réseaux sociaux. Men nogle få temaer har dog alligevel fokuseret på hits med en særlig vinkel. Således også i dette nye "Hits from non-English artists". De engelsk talende nationer har jo i meget høj grad domineret pop og rock musikken siden Elvis og Beatles, hvilket selvfølgelig skyldes sproget og den kulturelle status i verden men også et meget stort antal kunstnere. Dette tema vil derimod give plads til en del af de navne, der ikke kom fra hhv. Storbritannien, USA, Australien og Canada, men som alligevel slog igennem med et eller flere hits på de britiske og amerikanske hitlister. De fleste af dem sang dog stadig på engelsk og det må generelt siges at være den afgørende adgangs billet. Men der er faktisk nogle eksempler på, at en sang på artistens eget sprog er gået helt til tops i England og/eller USA. Dog skal det også bemærkes, at der naturligvis er store dele af verden, hvor sange bliver et hit for millioner uden at de kendes eller opdages i Vesten. Selvfølgelig jo Asien, Afrika, Sydamerika, Mellemøsten og til dels Sydeuropa. Listen kunne sagtens rumme flere andre sange, men som altid er det mine helt subjektive valg og delvise favoritter. Derfor vil der være et overtal af hits fra 70'erne og 80'erne men dog eksempler fra det nye årtusinde, især danske. Toronto and Montreal based trio, American Lips, have just announced the release of their latest 3-song maxi-single Waste of Crime on Ancient Fashion Records. American Lips features Death From Above 1979 drummer Sebastien Grainger and prolific producer Adrian Popovich, also known for his time in legendary Canadian rock act Tricky Woo. In explaining their newest offering the bands' latest one-sheet asks you to ponder, “Ever wondered what it would sound like if The Art Of Noise produced a Plastic Bertrand record?” To clear up that question Popovich explains, “I spent a good chunk of 1988 listening to the Colors OST and the“Kiss”cassingle by The Art Of Noise and Tom Jones. This older kid Rob on my street who was into punk rock said “the Colors soundtrack is pretty cool but that Art Of Noise song is garbage!” As a nine-year-old, I'd yet to be called out on my questionable musical tastes. Rob made me a mixtape with songs by The Ramones, Misfits, Motorhead, The Buzzcocks and a bunch of other essentials. I'd never heard any punk music before and the impact it had on me was huge. Ffwd to 2022, when Sebastien unilaterally decided to add Fairlight sample horn arrangements to two new American Lips songs, the simultaneous feelings of glorious discovery and deep shame I felt in 1988 came flooding back”. Inspired by Wax Trax! Records, Shep Pettibone, Art Of Noise, and a hot cut from The Ghostbusters OST, American Lips shed the punky garage-wave of their 2017 debut LP “KissThe Void,” and take a hard-drive dumpster-dive, emerging with a kind of “sample-bank pop” -at once danceable, but stylistically hard to pin down (don't call it dance punk!). En direct du Festival de la radio numérique, dans le Vieux-Aylmer, Dominic reçoit un gars de la place: Xavier Caféïne.
