On today's episode, we're heading back to 90s era Los Angeles, where we're going to hear a story about a lovely lady and a man named Brady, while we revisit the absolutely iconic camp classic, The Brady Bunch Movie (1995). This movie was directed by Betty Thomas and written by Laurice Elehwany, Rick Copp, Ronnie Turner, and Terry Turner. This movie stars Shelley Long (Troop Beverly Hills, Cheers), Gary Cole (The West Wing, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law), Michael McKean (Clue, This is Spinal Tap), and whole host of other folks like Christine Taylor (The Craft, Night Of The Demons II), Jennifer Elise Cox (Six Feet Under, The Comeback), and Rupaul (But I'm A Cheerleader, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar)This movie is the epitome of perfection when it comes to TV to film adaptations, and it's such a great example of how to do parody right. This movie is so funny, but never malicious in its intent, and I think that really sets it apart from other movies of its ilk. Do yourself a favor and watch this immediately.Intro/Outro Music: "Phantom Fun" by Jonathan BoyleShow E-Mail: cultcinemacircle@gmail.comFollow Cult Cinema Circle on Instagram, Twitter, and Letterboxd Hosted on Acast. Paget Brewster joins me in this episode, and I couldn't be happier. Not only do we speak about her return as the titular character in Birdgirl after playing the same role back in Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, but we also dive into my absolute FAVORITE series, Community, and even touch on Duck Tales. We talk about how she utilizes her voice for the characters of Birdgirl and Judy, how it was just like riding a bike, and why she thinks you should never binge-watch a show you're in. Now the show is on Season 2, Birdgirl is soaring on Adult Swim, and that is largely due to Paget's excellent performance. We discuss her work with Danny Pudi on both Community and Duck Tales since they've worked on multiple projects. Asking what universe she'd like to see Birdgirl and Judy travel to that Paget has also acted in, we were united in choosing Community. This is one of my favorite episodes I've done in a long time, and I really think you will all enjoy it. Be sure to check out Community, Duck Tales, and especially Birdgirl, the latter of which can be seen on Adult Swim. If you want a fully immersive experience, check out our interview on our Literary Joe Youtube channel, and don't forget to like, share, and subscribe! As always, thanks for listening!

[BRAD's PICK] "Adult swim... all kids out of the pool!!!" To anyone growing up in the late 90s/early 00s that had access to cable, this quote represented freedom... It meant that in a few short minutes, your beloved Cartoon Network was going to turn into a raunchy and disgusting wonderland of absurd comedy and uncut anime. This was still in the age of dial up internet, so there was no streaming, social media, or internet memes yet; a stone age of sorts. Between 2001 and 2005, Adult Swim gave us a new kind of comedy show that wasn't just a sitcom, including Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, and The Brak Show (not to mention Space Ghost Coast to Coast that existed prior to that). By revitalizing old Hannah-Barbara animations and repurposing them into new shows, Cartoon Network was breaking ground with what could be done with intellectual property. These new shows were remixes of old beloved shows, which is why I think they pair so well with hip-hop, a genre that takes unused gems of music and gives them new life. In 2005, they decided to take this connection it's logical conclusion. Enter Dangermouse and MF Doom. Dangermouse has started his rise with the much-hyped "The Grey Album" (a mashup of Jay-Z's "The Black Album" and The Beatles' "The White Album"), but at this point is still underground, as he hasn't broken through the stratosphere with Gnarls Barkley yet. MF Doom is perhaps at the peak of his underground cred, coming off the heels of some of his best projects, King Geedorah, Viktor Vaughn, and Madvillain, as well as his most critically acclaimed MF Doom release "Mm... Food." The idea of Dangermouse, MF Doom, and Adult Swim combining their street cred to form this conceptual masterpiece is still completely baffling. It's very one-of-a-kind, capturing a moment of early Adult Swim and 2000s underground hip hop, and I don't think it will ever be done again quite like this (short of an actual sequel by DangerDoom)... Join Brad, Jon, and special guest Sam Bronn, as they go back to a simpler time... a time when you waited until a predetermined hour to watch your favorite tv show... #MFDoctorDoomMCU Next Up: (05-25-20) BONUS EPISODE Gorillaz - Demon Days (06-01-20) Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden SPOTIFY PLAYLIST NUMBER ONE: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6Z67Ka5xedSfYIvWw6YNt4?si=GG5CAvtUQ0CWpr74gRn-_A Other Links: www.twitter.com/RevoloverAudio www.anchor.fm/AlbumConceptHour www.twitter.com/AlbumConceptPod www.myspace.com/AlbumConceptHour www.ko-fi.com/RevoloverAudio --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/albumconcepthour/support

Adam works at Floyd County Productions on Archer and he was the art director on He started in animation for Cartoon Network’s Squidbillies, Aquateen Hunger Force, and even Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. Whitney and Adam talk about how animators are versatile artists. Atlanta is a hub for animators and is becoming one of the new centers for animation in the US. Adult Swim is probably one of the reasons why Atlanta is becoming an animation hotspot. Adam got into animation through an internship he had at Turner Broadcasting (Cartoon Network). He was impressed by the casual dress code and they played good music. He also got really great animation experience. His first job was at Radical Axis, an Atlanta-based animation studio, where he worked on Squidbillies and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Adam recommends brand new animators start out at a smaller studio, because you get work on all tasks on the pipeline. The wonderful story about how Adam got to work on Archer is explained. Archer is described as if James Bond met Arrested Development, the classic office comedy that just happens to be an international spy ring. Whitney disliked the first two episodes of Archer, but after the third she was hooked. It was due to the character’s complexities and their bizarre approach to a the usually serious spy drama. Adam and Whitney praise the animation style and how it so different from its contemporary mature cartoons, i.e. The Simpsons, American Dad, and Family Guy. Each person in Archer’s animation staff has an important function and Adam explain each role in detail, including his own as an illustrator. All of Archer’s key animation is done using Adobe Illustrator. The show’s writer Adam Reed is like a unicorn in the mists, he appears one day with scripts and then disappears again. This was recorded on a Friday night, so a few of Adam’s co-workers came to visit, Kim Feigenbaum and Adam Forbes. But due to craziness and recording difficulties, their pieces had to be edited out. Adam does share that the Atlanta, Georgia animation community is like a family and how during the deadlines you can learn more about yourself and make some really strong friendships. Also he declares that dance parties are fun.
