Discover how saying “YES” to participate in God's plans leads to a legacy of faith and fulfillment. Psalms 145:4 reminds us to praise the Lord so that future generations may understand God's mighty acts. This message encourages parents and guardians to ensure our children learn about God through our actions and worship. Key highlights from this teaching include: • Deuteronomy 8:18: God grants us the power to achieve wealth not for personal gain, but to establish His covenant for future generations. • 2 Corinthians 12:14: Wealth is meant to support Christian generations, building a foundation beyond personal enjoyment. • Victory Tabernacle Assembly of God in Indian Mound, Tennessee: This church's journey illustrates the importance of vision and participation in God's work. Lessons from the story of Victory Tabernacle: • Resisting God's direction can lead to struggle; idolizing past achievements can block spiritual growth and church progress. • Recognizing the seasons of God's kingdom, much like planting and harvesting, allows us to be more effective in achieving kingdom outcomes. Join us as we delve into these Biblical principles of wealth, legacy, and Christian leadership, drawing lessons on building a foundation for future generations. Learn how embracing change and God's guidance leads to growth and fulfills His vision for us all.

After serving nearly 30 years in the Army, flying Chinook helicopters with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Charley retired in 2017 and found a new mission in agriculture and has devoted himself to helping other veterans and beginning farmers find their purpose in agriculture. Charley was also in the inaugural cohort of a horticulture therapy certificate program launched at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.Jordan Farms specializes in fresh-cut flowers, forest-grown mushrooms, and other farm-fresh products. Charley is a nationally featured advocate for veterans transitioning to agriculture and the mental health benefits of therapeutic horticulture. We think it would be great if we had more farmers in more communities; and at the same time, with over a million people in the active-duty military, when they decide to leave the military, veterans are an important demographic that could contribute to the numbers of farmers. In Shop Talk with Neversink Farm, we chat about new tools, old tools, how they can benefit your farm and tips to use them successfully with Conor Crickmore of Neversink Tools, which manufactures tools for farmers. In this episode of Shop Talk, we discuss soil blocks, what makes them such a good medium for seedlings, their difficulties, and the alternatives with the same benefits and fewer drawbacks, such as Winstrip trays and paper chain pots. Thanks to our collaborator on this podcast Neversink Farm. Ramsey recalls that while growing up in the Mississippi Delta the only notable topography was in the form of ancient indian mounds scattered about an otherwise flat landscape. When were they built and by whom? How'd those people live and what became of them?  Retired archaeologist Sam Brookes spent his career studying prehistoric Mississippian Indian cultures and takes Ramsey on a whirlwind tour spanning 13,000 years, explaining why these mounds were built, why they possibly represented the zenith of pre-American civilization, what they hunted--and what hunted them--interesting digs and much more. As well, Brookes describes what explorer Hernando Desoto found and what that expedition left in its wake. Natchez Trace: A Road Through the Wilderness

"We are making our way up the Natchez Trace Parkway from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee, and today we visit BEAR CREEK MOUND, our last exhibit before we leave Mississippi. "The Bear Creek Mound is typical of the ceremonial Indian Mounds we have seen along our Natchez Trace journey. It is a flat topped temple mound that stands about 10 feet high and is right on the Mississippi-Alabama Border. The mound itself was built less than a 1000 years ago, sometime between 1200 and 1400 AD. At first you may think this is just another old Indian mound; however, the mound is located at the oldest major prehistoric site on the entire Natchez Trace. Dating back more than 10,000 years, the BEAR CREEK MOUND SITE was occupied by migratory hunters as early as 8000 B.C. Just imagine, this site was occupied by human beings for thousands of years, from Paleo times through the Mississippian period. "On our next program we will take a small step in our journey as we cross over into Alabama, but remember this final exhibit in Mississippi; it's a lasting footprint of human life here that spanned not just a few decades and centuries, but rather, several millennia. For Natchez Trace a road through the wilderness, I'm Frank Thomas." For more about Natchez Trace: A Road Through the Wilderness, visit eddieandfrank.com

"I" is for Indian Mounds. Dotting South Carolina’s streams and rivers are vestiges of her prehistoric past. These mounds offer fragmentary evidence of the cultures that thrived before the Europeans arrived. At least sixteen Woodland mounds and nineteen Mississippian mounds have been identified that are at least fifty percent intact. Another eleven known sites have been destroyed or are underwater. Woodland period mounds are located primarily along coastal rivers while Mississippian mounds are found on inland rivers near the fall line. In the late prehistoric period and early contact period, some of South Carolina’s mound builders were part of vast Mississippian chiefdoms. These mounds, built between C.E. 1200 and 1500, were ceremonial, cultural, or administrative in nature and at times were associated with villages and burials. Historic evidence suggests that as many as 150 mounds were present in South Carolina at the time of European contact.

We are doing these episodes in ABC Order of the states and episode twenty-four is Mississippi. The goal is to give you ideas and opportunities to experience outdoor adventure anywhere and everywhere in the United States of America. Here's our list for Mississippi: 1. Natchez Trace Parkway, Natchez to Nashville, TN. History and natural beauty abound along the Natchez Trace. The 450-mile trail was traveled by traders, missionaries, early settlers and Indians for thousands of years. Today, visitors can drive along the famous parkway, taking part in everything from hiking and horseback riding to exploring historic sites, such as Indian Mounds and the ghost town of Rocky Springs. 2. Head out to Ship Island on the Gulf Coast. Here in the north central Gulf of Mexico, about 11 miles off Mississippi’s Coast, are some of the last undeveloped barrier islands in America. Part of Gulf Islands National Seashore and protected by the U.S. Park Service, these exquisite sand islands offer visitors the first high-quality beaches for swimming and shelling east of New Orleans! 3. The only one of its kind in this part of the country, Flora’s Petrified Forest has been 36 million years in the making, and offers visitors the chance to view fossils that exhibit perfectly preserved details. Exploring this natural wonder is a breeze thanks to a self-guided nature trail, which includes many points of interest and informative markers 4. The longest of the state’s Rails to Trails’ conversions, the Tanglefoot Trail spans 43.6 miles, and takes adventure seekers on a history-filled journey through fields, forests, meadows, and wetlands, navigating the same paths as the Chickasaws and Meriwether Lewis. This trail’s even terrain and numerous stopping points make it easily navigable for people of any age. 5. Referred to as “a natural treasure in the Mississippi Delta,” the Greenville Cypress Preserve spans 16 acres and features a diverse terrain that includes sloughs, an area of mixed woodland, and a meadow, all of which can easily be viewed from the boardwalk that navigates the preserve or the on-site observation deck. 6. In June 1834 Zion's Camp members dug up an "Indian Mound" the significance of which has been debated ever since.  The Joseph Smith History, Vol. 2, p. 79-80 would lead a reader to believe Joseph Smith wrote in his diary the partial skeleton unearthed was of "Zelph" a white Lamanite who fought in the final battle between the Lamanites and Nephites.  However, the actual source is seven journals, many written years after the event, with conflicting information.  This event is used by some to show Book of Mormon events took place in North America.  Only those who look at the event superficially would come to such a conclusion.

Rebecca J. Steiger lives on a ranch located in the foothills of the Ozarks in Southeastern Missouri. Her ancestral family home is built on an Indian Mound, giving her the "Ancient Wisdom". She is a seer and channels through the Angelic Realm of God, sharing their wisdom and insight to help others help themselves. Rebecca's journey began in 1993 when her life was transformed in an instant, through the most horrid experience ever, a tornado. Rebecca and her grandson were blown out of a house and into a field under an old satellite dish.  At that time, she saw herself standing before God and his judgment.  Her sister-in-law, who had previously passed away, was leaning over God's shoulder and said, "Not now, Lord; for she still has lots of things to do." After that horrific event, Rebecca slowly came to learn of the gifts God had given her, and why she was returned to this Earth. She not only helps others through the Angelic Realm, but is also a Master Reiki through which she uses her God given gifts to heal others. Rebecca is a twice published author of "And The Angels Spoke" (2005) and "From Ashes to Angel Light" (2006). In 2013, Rebecca revised and updated her first book and has been republished by Balboa Press as "And the Angels Speak". Her second book will be republished in 2014 and a third book will follow shortly thereafter.

This week on Kansas City’s Northeast Newscast, managing editor Paul Thompson sat down with representatives from Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph about their ambitious housing plans for the Historic Northeast. The conversation included Jarrod Sanderson, Executive Director of Housing Development; Kevin Murphy, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications; and Carl DiCapo, the former KC Parks and Recreation commissioner who is helping Catholic Charities raise funds for their housing endeavor. The organization already owns two lots in the Indian Mound neighborhood, where they are planning to construct energy-efficient, 1,120 square-foot, three-bedroom, one bathroom homes. “The lots are purchased, we’re waiting on permits to get approved to start building the first two; and that’s proof of concept,” Sanderson said. “We want to do 20 more after that, and then hopefully, scale up to 100 a year for 10 years.”

Today I chatted with my good friend Tom “Tank” Baird about his passion for archaeology, and how he's become a local expert on the topic of prehistory and Native American cultures. I met Tank in 2005 when he rolled up to my dig site in Muncy on his Harley Davidson, with his beautiful, blonde wife, Anita, on the back. The two were clad in black leather, on a loud motorcycle, and just a little intimidating. I was teaching people, including children, how to excavate at a public archaeology dig in Muncy at the newly formed Heritage Park and Nature Trail. Tank had read about the public dig in the newspaper and was curious. Soon, he muscled the kids out of the way and became my best pupil. Over the next few months, Tank proved to be the best volunteer a project director could find. His wife, Anita, however, saw a snake at the site and beelined out of there. She would occasionally visit, standing along the road, but her heart wasn’t in it like Tank’s. During the next few years, I talked Tank into working at the Muncy historic dig, and a few other prehistoric dig sites. He joined Northcentral Chapter 8 of the Society for PA Archaeology at my invitation, and his presence helped our little archaeology chapter come back to life. He became the NCC8 president, and served for several years in that role, before accepting the vice president title when his tenure ended. He’s introduced a lot of people to archaeology during the past ten years, as he became an avocational archaeologist, himself. He’s self-taught and spends much of his free time reading about prehistoric cultures in the Northeast, visiting museums and archaeology sites, and absorbing everything. He’s been to places I’ve dreamed of going, but never got around to doing it.  That’s the difference between passion and interest. Tank doesn’t wait for an invitation. He seizes opportunities to learn with both hands and relishes everything. He’s become a local expert in just a few years, because his passion is genuine. He’s made many new friends because of it, including his great pal Joel Buck, another avocational archaeologist. Tank and Joel do a lot of exploring, heading off to Indian Mounds and museums in other states, reading the same books, even kayaking and fishing together. I know what he’s going to do when he finally retires: Even more archaeology, more presentations, and maybe write a book about local prehistory. The topic is sparse and we could use a new comprehensive explanation about Indians along the West Branch of the Susquehanna. Tank stays busy: He gives Scouts and college groups tours at the local dig site, he goes to public schools to talk to classes, and he is a frequent guests on the rubber-chicken circuit, chatting at the VFWs, the Rotary Clubs, the Masons, the Moose, and more, telling anyone who will listen about local prehistory. He's also a frequent guest on Ted Saul’s “Sunday Morning Magazine” talk show on iHeartRadio, speaking about Indians and significant local historic events. Tank has many legacies but he’s most proud of the fact that he’s been a part of several PBS documentaries, sharing his stories about Indians in the West Branch Valley. He’s also proud of the rare, priceless human face effigy he and Anita was able to purchase from a collector, placing it in the local museum, and ensuring it will remain protected and a part of NCC8’s public educational outreach for a long time. You can learn more about this effigy and other projects that keep Tank busy on NCC8's website: www.PennArchaeology.com. While you're on the website site, consider becoming a member and supporting local archaeology. It's only $20 a year, and who knows, you might become the next Tank Baird.
