But when 2020 disrupted the global supply chain and Facebook ad costs, he started looking for something more passive and hands-off. And so, in 2021, his niche site was born, ticking all the right boxes for his ideal business model. He focused on tutorial-style articles, answering questions related to the niche, and later hired a writer to create affiliate content. The website's main source of revenue was Ezoic ads, with some income from Amazon. James hired writers to scale up content production and reinvest profits from the website. While James says he was in no way an SEO expert, his site reached 96,000 page views in its first year generating $3,000 in monthly profits. It eventually peaked at 365,000 page views, $7,700 in revenue, and $5,000 in profit. Then the site got hit by a Google update, and James decided it was time to sell. He soon after successfully exited for just over six figures, with an ongoing 6-month performance bonus. And in his interview, James shares lots of great advice and insights into: Why you should have a passion or some prior experience in your niche. How incorporating video content can boost rankings and engagement. Handling the emotional rollercoaster of growing and selling a site Deciding when to sell How he now decides what niches to go after in the age of AI And more... He believes anyone can create content if they are one step ahead of their audience and can provide value. He also discusses his use of AI in content creation. He's been testing out GPT-4 and shares some tips he's been using to produce surprisingly good articles. And he shares some great prompts you don't want to miss! So, tune in to the full episode to learn more and get inspired to scale your niche site today. Topics James Beattie Covers Why he transitioned from eCommerce to content sites Differences between paid and organic traffic How his eCommerce experienced helped his current work His first content site revenue numbers The ups and downs of SEO How he chooses a niche Being one-step ahead of the audience Using video content Creating helpful and logical topical silos The emotional involvement when building content sites Diversifying content types Selling after a Google hit Tips for using AI for written content And more... "Mathematical writing was a special class for me. While I was doing research for a paper, I found a study done by some guys at Pixar. They examined a mathematical perspective of animation, which linked the meshes of various characters. This led to my independent study course, where I wrote a computer program to animate rotating cubes in space", says James Beattie. Gardens at the Frontier: New Methodological Perspectives on Garden History and Designed Landscapes (Routledge, 2019) addresses broad issues of interest to architectural historians, environmental historians, garden writers, geographers, and other scholars. It uses different disciplinary perspectives to explore garden history’s thematic, geographical, and methodological frontiers through a focus on gardens as sites of cultural contact. The contributors address the extent to which gardens inhibit or further cultural contact; the cultural translation of garden concepts, practices and plants from one place to another; the role of non-written sources in cultural transfer; and which disciplines study gardens and designed landscapes, and how and why their approaches vary. Chapters cover a range of designed landscapes and locations, periods and approaches: medieval Japanese roji (tea gardens); a seventeenth-century garden of southern China; post-war Australian ‘natural gardens’; iconic twentieth-century American modernist gardens; ‘international’ willow-pattern design; geology and designed landscapes; gnomes; and landscape authorship of a public garden. Each chapter examines transfers of cultural ideas and their physical denouement. This book was originally published as a special issue of Studies in the History of Gardens & Designed Landscapes. Bryan Toepfer, AIA, NCARB, CAPM is the Principal Architect for TOEPFER Architecture, PLLC, an Architecture firm specializing in Residential Architecture and Virtual Reality. In the latest episode of across the park podcast, the lads sit down to review what has been a difficult and frustrating few weeks for both sides of the park. Millsy and Judgy start with the disappointing exit in the league cup to United before reviewing the narrow victory and Sheff United and defeat at home to David Moyes’ West Ham which denied them the chance to go second in the table. The frustration is obvious but both blues agree that they have to be pleased with the current position despite this. The lads then move onto matters on the red side of the park where Phil and Gary discuss the poorest league run the reds have seen in the last 2 seasons with 2 draws and a loss. Both reds question the contribution of the front 3 in recent weeks as well as the recent ineffectiveness of Liverpool’s previous imperious full backs; Trent and Robertson. The lads then take a trip down memory lane as the blues recall the signing of James Beattie, 16 years ago and the reds recall the loss of Fernando Torres. The social media questions include a focus on Everton’s lack of academy products in recent years and further spotlight on Liverpool’s attacking line before the episode is rounded off with a look towards this weekends FA Cup ties.

James Beattie is the CEO of the Toronto Futures Options Swaps Exchange (tFOSE), a new Canadian-based derivatives exchange and clearinghouse. tFOSE is currently seeking regulatory approval in Canada and plans to open for trading in early 2021. Why you should listen: Canada has been slow to bring institutional-grade crypto asset products to market. The Canadian exchange-traded derivatives market is ripe for disruption. Issues include a lack of liquidity driving order flow out of Canada, high FX cost and currency risk, high trading fees, and a lack of product innovation. There's a growing demand for traders to diversify their portfolios and exposure, hedge risk, and access an emerging asset class without having to directly hold the underlying crypto assets. tFOSE aims to provide a solution to these issues. James Beattie, tFOSE CEO says they are working closely with regulators in Canada. “Regulators have put forward a definitive affirmative effort to understand crypto. It's incumbent on ecosystem participants to build the right way. If they want the benefits of regulation, they should understand process and due diligence. You must play by the rules, there is no downside to transparency.” Key takeaway: tFOSE CEO James Beattie says the team is committed to new derivative solutions that will repatriate order flow to Canada and unlock new global markets. Brave New Coin has signed a contract with tFOSE to design, calculate, and administer a suite of crypto indices to power tFOSE's cash-settled options trading. tFOSE expects production on the indices to be completed during Q3 2020 with cash-settled crypto options trading beginning in early 2021. James says Brave New Coin was selected as tFOSE crypto index builders after a due diligence process. ”BNC meets all of our needs,” he said, “taking a unique approach to index design, methodology, and governance that will help tFOSE meet the specific, exacting needs of both our retail and institutional investors.” Supporting links: tFOSE Crypto Indices Program Andy on Twitter Brave New Coin on Twitter Brave New Coin BNC Pro The Crypto Conversation is sponsored by BNC Pro, the new digital wealth platform featuring an all-in-one suite of customizable, institutional-grade applications that help you manage your crypto investments. The emergence of a Scottish 'school' of common sense philosophy has not yet been given the historical attention it deserves, despite the fact that the rise of common sense philosophy was one of the most important intellectual developments in the Atlantic world during the second half of the 18th century. In this lecture, Professor Paul Wood examines the responses of common sense philosophers such as James Beattie, James Oswald and Thomas Reid to David Hume's perceived scepticism and irreligion as well as Hume's subsequent reply to his critics. The lecture concludes with an account of the precipitous decline of the Scottish 'School' of common sense.

Stage One Startup: Interviews with Influential Entrepreneurs & Innovative Startups
This Week's Guest; James Beattie Welcome to this week's featured episode, we are excited to be learning about the essentials in drop shipping & e-commerce. One question that myself and Brad have asked each other on numerous occasions is "What is drop shipping?". So we thought, why not bring an expert on the show to explain this to us. The drop shipping industry is something that had no previous knowledge on, we had touched on e-commerce in a few of our previous episodes, but we wanted to dive into more detail on drop shipping specifically. This week's guest is an absolute genius when it comes to drop shipping and e-commerce, he has a proven track record as his bank account has the figures to prove it. James Beattie is 20 years of age and lives in Northern Ireland, at age 18 he decided that a corporate career wasn't going to satisfy his entrepreneurial hunger. He is going to be telling us how he has built a seven figure business in the space of 1 year through the use of drop shopping. Although he is only 20 years old, James isn't an overnight success. Having started his journey building and "flipping" website on freelancer websites. While at his corporate job, he learnt how to do a similar process on Instagram, by building and selling pages or ad-space on them. James is going to be going into a lot of detail on how he turned what was just a by-chance opportunity into a full-scale business. http://stageonestartup.com/ep058

At present there are many environmental anxieties related to pollution, species extinction, climate change, acid deposition and many others. However, environmental anxieties are nothing new and were also experienced during the colonial period of the 19th and early 20th century. Colonial authorities and settlers in the British Empire encountered unfamiliar environments and the combination with environmental changes caused by their activities led to widespread environmental anxieties. The most important concern was anxiety over climate change. In 19th century debates surrounding this issue, highly emotive, highly alarmist arguments were made that are very similar to the ones used today. In this episode, James Beattie, Senior Lecturer at the Department of History of the University of Waikato in New Zealand explores these anxieties of settlers, scientist and colonial officials in India, Australia and New Zealand.
