I secured a 2012 Demo copy of Jai Paul's Jasmine for $16. Some ol' boy in Burbank California didn't do his homework last week and obviously neither did the person he or she bought the record from in the previous transaction. This record in my possession should be at least a $100 sell but buddy just didn't know what time it was. All of the covers do look similar for most of his drops but come on Pappy. C-List disc jockey like me? Forget about it. I sniffed it out immediately and blasted it for my beautiful congregation of audible punching bags on the inter webs. What's good Keisha. I think I'll start listing my 3 favorite points of each episode in the bios. No better time to start than now. Okay, the very start slowing and throwing a 1959 Willie Nelson track is sick work. Next, the Jerry Vale Innamorata at the end. Unbelievable. I could levitate like a monk listening to the vocal acoustics on this Jerry Vale album. And of course, lastly I enjoyed hyper focus listening to the 13 year old demo version of Jasmine, and I had never heard the solo instrumental before that either. Fantastic. I do have some other pickups that will remain surprises until next episode. Some cool 45 finds today. That is all for now, dropping the Sheep Tee on www.coffeestainclothing.com this week, if you'd like a sneak peek, find my TikTok the sheep design is there. Thank you as always for letting me intrude your earholes once more. It's raining, it's pouring.. My love life is boring me to tears.Your Trusted Host,DJ Witwicka Juan Don

Texan Cindy Walker already was a well-established songwriter in the fall of 1955 when she attended Nashville's annual disc jockey convention.By then, she had worked with Bing Crosby, not to mention Gene Autry and Bob Wills. She had even scored her own hit in 1944 with her recording of Wiley Walker and Gene Sullivan's "When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again."But Cindy Walker's greatest contribution to American pop music was only now about to happen. How the Song Came to BeYears later, Walker would recall that day. She was leaving the Nashville conference when she was approached by country singing star Eddy Arnold.“He said, 'I've been wanting to see you. I've got a song title,'” she remembered. “He said, ‘I've showed it around a little bit and I haven't had any luck, but I know it's a good title.'” Walker liked the title Arnold suggested — “You Don't Know Me” — but at first she couldn't figure out what to do with it. Back home, though, “I was just sitting there and all of a sudden, here comes, 'You give your hand to me and then you say hello'.” "But I couldn't find any way to finish it,” she told a writer decades later during her Grammy Foundation Living History interview. “Maybe two or three weeks went by and nothing happened. Then one day, I thought, 'You give your hand to me and then you say goodbye' and when I said that, I knew exactly where it was going. I couldn't wait to get to the phone to call Eddy."Crossover GoldWalker's resulting song was a definitive crossover hit. The first rendition of “You Don't Know Me” was released by pop singer Jerry Vale, who in early 1956 carried it to #14 on Billboard's pop chart. Two months later, it entered the country music world when Eddy Arnold's version made it to #10.Then along came Brother Ray. In 1962, Ray Charles included the tune on his #1 pop album Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. His single of “You Don't Know Me” (the song's overall biggest-selling version ever) went all the way to #2 on Billboard's “Hot 100.” That same year it also topped the Easy Listening chart for three weeks.Later the song was used in the 1993 comedy film Groundhog Day, and it was the 12th No. 1 country hit for Mickey Gilley in 1981.Walker's fellow Texan Willie Nelson honored her with his album You Don't Know Me: The Songs of Cindy Walker in 2006, the year she died at age 88. In her obituary, The New York Times noted that Walker had Top 10 hits in every decade from the 1940s to the 1980s.Our Take on the TuneMichelle Hoge brought her band mates this song about a decade ago. It immediately found a place on the next album they were working on and it became a standard feature in most of The Flood's shows. These days, the guys don't see Michelle so often — she and her husband Rich live more than two hours away — but whenever she rambles back this way, as she did last week, this enduring classic is sure to make an appearance.More from MichelleFinally, if you would like to fill your Friday with little more from the one whom the late Joe Dobbs lovingly dubbed “The Chick Singer,” tune in the Michelle Channel in the free Radio Floodango music streaming service.Click here to give it a spin. THE BUNNY CHRONICLES - a History of Hugh Hefner & the Empire He Built - Playboy Magazine
It was 1990 when Richard Bann first visited Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion. Cinema and the importance of film preservation sparked a 30 year friendship. One that evolved into being closest of friends and an invitation to "Manly Night."Monday was always Manly Night, a gathering of Hef's closest friends who would nominate and vote on what film to screen after dinner: Dick Stewart, Ray Anthony, Mel Torme', Johnny Crawford, John Dante, Bob Ridgely, Chuck McCann, Peter Vieira, Ron Borst, Kevin Burns, Robert Culp, Fred Dryer, Jerry Vale, Richard Bann. In 1993 Dick Stewart and his wife Playmate, Anne Randall moved to Sun City. Dick went to Hef and suggested his seat at Hef's left hand should be given to Richard Bann, and Hef agreed. Brother Keith Hefner moved to Los Angeles from Aspen in 1997 coincident with Mel Torme's passing and his seat was given to Keith. "A seat at the table" was a big deal and not everyone who was close to Hef would receive that invitation by Hefner. Hefner was a creature of habit. Every week the calender would reflect nightly events. Events that were religiously held at the Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, for a span of 45 years.Tuesday Nights = GAME nightWednesday Nights = GIN nightThursday Nights = FAMILY night when Hefners boys, Marston and Cooper were young. Once the boys had grown up Thursday became a movie night.Friday Nights = CLASSIC FILM Night Saturday Nights = RERUN Movie ClassicsSunday Nights = screenings of yet to be released films. Straight from the studios, delivered UNDER lock AND key!! The films would arrive on reels and placed on Hefners equipment in in a hidden room behind the grand living room inside the library.Richard would write copious notes on each film before each movie night. Upon arriving at the Playboy Mansion, Richard would hand off his cliff notes to HEF. Hefner, the consimate editor would take Richards notes and create his presentation. A cherished moment we ALL loved. Hef in his silk pajamas and robe, in his wonderfully warm and intoxicating way would present a tender and brilliant; introspective and fascinating backstory on the film. It was "cinematic history" at it's pinnacle. We all shared the LOVE of movie nights held at the Playboy Mansion. The fondest memories we are so very lucky to share. Stevie Van Zandt is best-known as guitarist and founding member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, and for playing Silvio Dante on HBO's The Sopranos and Frank Tagliano on Netflix's Lilyhammer. But as he shares in his new memoir, Unrequited Infatuations, Stevie has done so much more with his time on this earth, even if it all didn't go exactly as he might have hoped. As a producer, songwriter, and arranger, Stevie has helped countless artists make beautiful music. His songs have been performed by Jackson Browne, Pearl Jam, Nancy Sinatra, and many more. He co-produced Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's The River and Born in the USA, acted in the role of Jerry Vale in Martin Scorcese's The Irishman, programs and hosts two radio channels on Sirius/XM and—somewhere along the way—found time to fight for causes he believed in, most notably Artists Against Apartheid for which he was honored by the United Nations. In today's conversation, Stevie shares the frustrations and occasional disappointments of putting your whole heart (and, sometimes, all your money) into your artistic vision. Yet he abides in his passionate pursuit of musical beauty. In the words of his friend, Bruce Springsteen Stevie remains "the planet's most charismatic, dedicated and visible crusader scrapping to preserve the dirty purity of rock n' roll.” Buy several copies of Stevie's book at https://www.littlesteven.com/ Tell the world that you ❤️ Crazy Money: https://ratethispodcast.com/crazymoney About Crazy Money: Unlike traditional personal finance shows, Crazy Money is not about how to make a million bucks, how to beat the stock market, or how to save money by switching credit cards. August 3, 1955 Howard Miller chats with singer Jerry Vale on CBS Radio. Jerry Vale (born Gennaro Louis Vitaliano; July 8, 1930 – May 18, 2014) was an American singer and actor. During the 1950s and 1960s, he reached the top of the pop charts with his interpretations of romantic ballads, including a cover of Eddy Arnold hit "You Don't Know Me" (1956) and "Have You Looked into Your Heart" (1964). Vale, who was of Italian descent, sang numerous songs in Italian, many of which were used in soundtracks by films of Martin Scorsese. Vale showed his love of Italian music with his albums, I Have But One Heart (1962) and Arrivederci, Roma (1963), full of Italian standards such as "Amore, Scusami", "Ciao, Ciao, Bambina", "Arrivederci, Roma", and "O Sole Mio". His renditions of "Volare", "Innamorata (Sweetheart)", and "Al di là" became classic Italian-American songs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Vale
