You are reading something that was written in paragraph format, with complete sentences, grammar, nouns, and verbs. That's not how Ryan Miller of the beloved band Guster likes it. Ryan enjoys lists. Likes reading them, creating them, and relying on the whole idea of ordered verticality. He tells us about the extensive playlist of songs he always keeps handy for his kids, how this list has been around for many years, how it has seen some editing with certain artists losing favor and being dropped, and how there is no Guster on that list. Ryan also fills us in on which bands and artists are really nice people so you can listen to them with confidence. Ryan doesn't tell us which bands and artists are real jerks (he says there are very few of them) because that might cause you to lose sleep. Take an ordered approach to dozing off with our Ryan Miller episode. Listen to Ryan Miller's "Best of the Best - Nines and Dimes" on Spotify. *Disclaimer: The Executive Producer of this podcast is from the great state of Minnesota.* This oh for cute week Axe and Murphy were joined by the great John Anzalone. In exciting but not at all predictable news, Minnesota has once again produced a Vice Presidential candidate. The Hacks discuss how Minnesota is the best state in the union, dontcha know, Walz's unparalleled experience with state (a)fairs, how the campaign is pivoting to build the Wal(l)z messaging, and how the announcement could (purple) rain on Trump's parade. Can the man from 10,000 lakes, can rise up to meet these high stakes as he enters skol-ding hot waters? Grab a pop, and a Juicy Lucy, and tune in!
There are eight days remaining before the July 30 trade deadline, and the Phillies have needs. One of them popped up on Friday, when José Alvarado blew a save in Pittsburgh. Alvarado hasn't been as sharp as seasons past, perhaps reinforcing the front office's belief that it needs to fortify the bullpen with another late-inning veteran reliever. The Phillies need a right-handed-hitting outfielder, too. Weston Wilson has played well since he replaced Whit Merrifield. Could he actually step up and fill that role, or must the Phillies find somebody else? Fortunately for the Phillies, Tyler Phillips has stepped up as the team's No. 5 starter. The local kid shut down Pittsburgh in Sunday's series finale, snapping the Phillies' three-game losing streak to avoid a sweep. There are a few things that have impressed Ruben, Jim and Todd's about the rookie's early performances. They discussed. The Phillies open a three-game series on Monday night in Minnesota. Ranger Suárez and Zack Wheeler are back. What do we hope to see from both of them? Plus, some late-inning food talk including walleye-on-a-stick and Juicy Lucys.
