Phil shares how becoming a dad pushed him to leave agency life, the SOP mindset he now “lives and dies by,” and why modular construction has him excited to build tighter, faster, and smarter. They trade notes on coaching, niche focus, CAC-thinking for builders, and the difference between hiring as an expense vs. an investment. Welcome back to Once, Every Two Weeks, the podcast where long-time friends Mark and Thom subject themselves (and anyone still listening) to even more 90s nostalgia, deep cuts, and questionable life choices. This time, they dust off Placebo's “Without You I'm Nothing”—the album that taught awkward teens it's okay to be a little messy and a lot loud. Join us as we unpack Placebo's sound, their accidental run-ins with David Bowie, and why this record deserves more than one spin on the Discman. From Panda Express mishaps to bitter rants about American radio, we'll hit every high, low, and crunchy snare in-between. With a background as a fifth-generation entrepreneur, he brings decades of firsthand experience in building and scaling businesses. Before becoming an EOS Implementer, Michael owned and operated a second-generation multimillion-dollar custom manufacturing company, culminating in a successful exit. He holds a degree in communications from the University of Southern California (USC) and an MBA in small business entrepreneurship from California Lutheran University. In this episode… Many entrepreneurs face the challenge of running and growing a family business while balancing legacy, leadership, and long-term sustainability. Scaling can feel overwhelming, employees may resist change, and eventually, the emotional weight of selling a business becomes unavoidable. How do you create clarity, build respect, and prepare a company for both growth and transition? Michael Richman shares how he navigated these challenges as a fifth-generation entrepreneur. By securing major accounts like Starbucks, Panda Express, and Family Dollar, Michael proved his value and helped expand his family's custom manufacturing business nationwide. Later, he turned to the EO community and the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to implement simple tools, such as scorecards, accountability charts, and people management systems — changes that unlocked growth, revealed hidden problems, and ultimately prepared the business for a successful exit. Tune in to this episode of the Smart Business Revolution Podcast as John Corcoran interviews Michael Richman, Professional EOS Implementer at EOS Worldwide, about transitioning a legacy business and scaling with systems. On this episode of Taste Buds with Deb, host Debra Eckerling speaks with Sam E. Goldberg, creator and host of “Respect the Chain,” a pop culture travel food show that dives into the stories behind the most iconic restaurant chains.  “Whether it's Moe's versus Chipotle, ketchup versus mustard, everybody's got an opinion and everybody's educated enough to discuss it,” Goldberg, who is team ketchup, says. “I put ketchup on my rice, I put ketchup on my eggs, I put ketchup on everything.” An attorney, who specializes in real estate law, Goldberg finds he has a really nice balance between his career and his passion project. Law is extremely serious; “‘Respect the Chain' is fun and upbeat. Growing up Jewish in New York City, Goldberg says a love of food is in his DNA. He enjoys traveling and exploring chain restaurants throughout the country and around the world. He also prioritizes sharing his Jewishness, especially during the holidays.  “We had the Adam Sandler song, we had that one “Rugrats” episode for Passover, but that was pretty much it [in my youth],” he says. “If I've got a platform, I'm going to make sure everybody sees some Jewish content.” Sam E. Goldberg shares “Respect the Chain's” origins story, why he loves chains - hint: he's a creature of habit, and restaurant best practices. Goldberg also shares his latest discovery, Ratatouille, the movie and the dish. Get his mom's recipe for ratatouille at JewishJournal.com/podcasts. Are you a young white man who just can't seem to get a stable job that will afford a home, a family, and modest lifestyle? Well have no fear: Panda Express is hiring assistant managers for seventy thousand dollars a year! Or, you could work at Chipotle stuffing burritos and be making one-hundred grand in just a few years! It seems silly, but this is real advice being offered by “conservative” think tank journalists and pundits. If, after all, they managed to make their big break a decade or two ago there's no reason you can't put on a suit and tie, walk into a business and secure yourself a good job offer with a solid handshake. I'm being tongue in cheek, but in Biblical terms this is called exasperating your sons. Real wages are the lowest they've ever been. Housing is flat out unaffordable. This is all while 94% of new jobs added to the S&P 100 companies are going to people of color, who are a significant minority in the US. Advice that really did work for the prior generation just doesn't get as far any more. It's harder than ever to provide, save, and build up an inheritance. And for us to actually give helpful, loving advice we have to be honest about the challenges young men are facing today.
