This week, we are officially "Tint Boys" broadcasting straight from a transformed warehouse in Glendale, California, for the global Tinter Battles window tinting championships. We immerse ourselves into the intense, WWE-style subculture of competitive window tinting, complete with pre-competition online trash-talking, NASCAR-style matching team jerseys, and heavyweight champion belts. We hit the competition floor to interview Cody from Tex Window Tinting about his mid-competition broken squeegee, lending his toolbelt to a friend whose luggage was lost, and his high-tech "Tint Buster" backpack. We also catch up with Carlos, the CEO of Tinter Battles, who explains how he combined his musical performance background with his tinting career to give these hardworking professionals the rockstar platform they deserve. After watching the intense flat glass and Paint Protective Film (PPF) heats, we officially give ourselves tinting nicknames: "Squeege.E" and "Mikey No Bubbles," and definitively declare that window tinting is a sport that belongs on ESPN. Taking a break from the competition, we did some LA exploring, starting with a trip to Ace Hardware for the last pack of Pokémon cards before finally experiencing the famous grocery store, Erewhon. Despite expecting $20 grapes, we were surprised to find the produce prices pretty normal—though the $165 branded hoodies and $100 lotions definitely lived up to the hype. After consulting with the in-store sommelier for some wine, we proudly embraced our new status as "Erewhon girlies". Later, we retreated to the hotel to order some Panda Express and had a gaming session where Mike quickly grasped the mechanics of Fortnite, even while Erin got targeted and eliminated twice in a single round. To round out our West Coast trip, we engaged in some "business business" by visiting the studio of the GroupChat podcast. We recap the incredibly pristine bathrooms and share what it was like to sit in and watch the two brothers record their tech and finance show. While Erin felt a little out of her depth listening to the highly educated business banter, we loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at how another successful podcast operates.
Bruce breaks down 401(k)s, the Rule of 72, and how to actually build wealth outside the shop — then Steven flips it to what makes a business last 100 years, using Panda Express, Costco, Buc-ee's, and Patagonia as case studies. Plus: a first look at Campus Ink's new ESPN licensing partnership.*** NOT financial advice — Bruce is not an accountant or financial advisor. Talk to a professional before making any moves.

Kayla Kunz was eating lunch with her two sons, Oscar and Harrison, at a Panda Express in Pooler, Georgia. They saw two soldiers eating there and asked if they could go and say thank you to the guys. They approached the soldiers and in a simple but powerful gesture thanked them for their service. We were able to celebrate a 250-year birthday of America because of men like those two soldiers who served our nation and many of them died. The 250-year celebration needs to go on every day as we thank people and God for how they have given us a future. We need more boys like Harrison and Oscar. Are you willing to offer a thank you today to people who are making a difference in our country? That doesn't take much talent, but it does take a thankful heart to give the time to say thank you.

In this episode of Take-Away with Sam Oches, Sam talks with Andrea Cherng, chief brand officer at Panda Restaurant Group, parent company of Panda Express, which has more than 2,600 locations in the U.S. that pull in more than $6 billion in sales annually. Andrea has been a part of Panda for pretty much her whole life, as her parents Andrew and Peggy Cherng founded the concept back in 1983 as a quick-serve spinoff of their Panda Inn full-service concept. Today Andrea oversees growth and development at Panda, which includes helping the chain carve out a distinct American-Chinese menu that borrows from China's eight renowned regional cuisines. NRN just named Panda Express as this year's Brand Icon winner, and Sam traveled to Panda's Support Center in Rosemead, CA, to sit down with Andrew, Peggy, and Andrea to learn more about the brand's balance between its Chinese heritage and its desire to create something wholly original. This is Sam's interview with Andrea, in which you'll learn more about how an immigrant ethos drives Panda's growth and how the chain creates valuable experiences both in stores and its digital channels.Have feedback or ideas for Take-Away? I took the Panda Express...elevator to hell. Ive had it with "Wes Anderson Robert Eggers" already. (There's a new Wolfman movie coming; start yacht-shopping NOW, Hollywood execs! Prepare for a financial windfall!) I give my thoughts on two new trailers, "Digger" and "I Play Rocky." I talk about how "nothing works like it's supposed to, ever" anymore. I watched the Dark Wizard doc on HBO and had thoughts about it, and I cried like Jon Bernthal playing the Punisher. I went to see Blow Out at the Academ Myuze-zayam, and I also went to see Hudson Hawk with all of my favorite writers in the same room hosting a Q&A. Of course I tried to talk to them afterwards, and generally failed miserably.

The sparkle is back on the podcast! This week, Kelly is in full teacher appreciation mode as she puts together gifts for her kids' teachers. But who scheduled Nurse Appreciation Week and Teacher Appreciation week on the same week? Lizz is basking in the glow of the end of solo weekends with the kids, at least for the time being. Her final weekend without Matty taught her a big lesson for the future: the mall is a great place to entertain the kids! Panda Express, Barnes & Noble and a playground all in one indoor place? Yes please! Drama erupted in the Stumpe household when Libby's ponytail suddenly appeared on the floor instead of on her head. Who cut it off? The answer will surprise you! At Lizz's house, she is in full potty training mode with James. So it's no surprise that the first items in her Last Three Transaction is all potty training related. Kelly, on the other hand, is experimenting with Amazon fashion finds. In Industry News, Honda is pulling back on their EVs and relying on their tride and true models. Hmmmm... who could have told you that would happen? Finally in Ditch the Drive-Thru, Kelly is reminding you of some Carpool classics!
[Cold open [A listener feeds Cody's Panda Express addiction] ends at 9:02.]Giving clients total transparency into their leads sounds like a good idea until they start seeing the garbage that comes with the gold. When you open the black box of lead generation, clients often fixate on the junk instead of the lower lead costs. Moving up the funnel with services like LSAs naturally increases the volume of "trash" leads your agency has to manage. If a client isn't prepared for that reality, they will panic over a drop in impressions even when ROI is climbing. We've realized our job is to provide results, which often means acting as a barrier between the client and the noise. We are now using voice and text AI to filter out non-serious leads before they ever land on a client's desk. Protecting your client's time this way prevents them from fixating on the "garbage" that naturally comes with scaling.Transparency without education is just a recipe for client anxiety. You have to decide if you want to be a raw data provider or a partner who protects the client's time. It's unsexy work, but it's the only way to scale your agency without losing your mind.-----RESOURCES:Want the tools and resources we recommend for agencies? Koji Kanematsu, the founder of Onigilly Japanese Kitchen, who shares his nearly 20-year journey of introducing Japanese rice balls to the American market. Transitioning from a background in tech startups, Koji applied a systems-oriented approach to transform a 2008 street cart into a growing franchise brand. The conversation covers his early challenges securing funding as an immigrant, the strategic pivot from urban business districts to suburban shopping centers during the pandemic, and his "Panda Express" vision for making onigiri a mainstream, healthy fast-food staple. Koji emphasizes the importance of balancing data-driven tools with human instinct and selecting franchisees who are driven by a passion for the product rather than just financial gain.10 Key Takeaways Identify a Market Gap: Koji founded the business after realizing he couldn't find the healthy, quick, and affordable lunches he enjoyed in Japan while working in San Francisco. Systems-Driven Scaling: Influenced by his tech background, Koji aimed to create a scalable system similar to Subway or McDonald's from the very beginning. Utilize NPO Funding: As an immigrant with no US credit history, Koji secured early funding through NPO lenders like La Cocina, which prioritized his vision and passion over traditional metrics. Operational Efficiency: The brand uses a centralized manufacturing model (commissary kitchens and co-packers) so individual locations only need to cook rice, simplifying the labor and skill requirements. The Power of Education: Success required teaching American consumers that onigiri is a cooked, handheld "soul food" distinct from raw-fish sushi. Adaptability in Crisis: When COVID-19 emptied the financial districts where his shops were located, Koji pivoted his growth strategy toward suburban shopping centers. Franchisee Selection Criteria: Koji prioritizes "detail-oriented" and "passionate" candidates—often former customers—over multi-unit operators who lack a connection to the brand. Human Instinct vs. Big Data: While the company uses AI traffic tools like Placer.ai, Koji personally visits potential sites for several days to verify the "feel" and traffic patterns. The "Slow" Road to Automation: It took 18 years to build the supply chain and automation necessary to support nationwide expansion because manufacturers often refuse to work with small-scale operators. Mission-Driven Growth: Beyond profit, Koji is motivated by the emotional reward of seeing a diverse American customer base embrace Japanese culture through food.

Hi there- hope you had an outstanding St. Paddy's Day and didn't indulge TOO much... Welcome to this week's Flavors of Northwest Arkansas podcast. I'm John Engleman- thanks for being here. This week, we're in Rogers at Michoacana Ice Cream, where there's much more than Ice Cream, and owner Arturo Rodriguez? A very colorful past-life in LA.. but before we get to that?!?! FOOD NEWS!! Cura Osteria in downtown Rogers has given us a grand opening date... kind of Scoops Ice Cream is open in downtown Springdale, but not without injury! Parlor is open in The Ledger. Dice Goblins' Café is officially open! Not a bad day to open the Fermentary Brewery! Goodcents is open in Fayetteville. Jaclyn's Kitchen re-opens this week in a new location! Trash Ice Cream has their eyes in Fayetteville. Downtown Fayetteville is getting a new brewery. Casa Alejo will be opening a 3rd spot! Fayetteville's Golden Corral is officially closed. Panda Express is coming to Springdale. We'll tell you where. A chili cook-off? You had me at “A”. This time at Black Howler Maxine's Tap Room turns 76, Michoacana and The Odd Soul turn 9, and Stoic Brews turned 1! Michoacana Ice Cream Owner Arturo Rodriguez is originally from Columbia, but came to the US to work with his brother in LA. He eventually got into broadcasting and built his own broadcasting school which happened to be at the same location for CNN in LA. He was on the same floor as Larry King, and some VERY famous guests would get lost and end up at their school accidentally, including one singer that might've been the most popular in the world at the time. Arturo will tell that story. So how does one go from having a popular broadcasting school in LA to Northwest Arkansas? That's another story, and of note- cows don't listen to radio... You'll hear what that means. Finally, Michoacana- known for their homemade ice cream, but becoming known for their food as well... You'll hear about that from owner Arturo Rodriguez of Michoacana Ice Cream in Rogers on this week's edition of the Flavors of Northwest Arkansas!
Send a textOn this week's episode of the WTR Small-Cap Spotlight, Matt Edelman, CEO and Chairman of Super League Enterprise (NASDAQ: SLE), joined Tim Gerdeman, Vice Chair & Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Water Tower Research, and James Kisner, Technology Analyst at Water Tower Research. Super League helps brands reach gaming audiences through scalable ad products and interactive experiences inside platforms like Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft, and applies play-driven behavioral insights to drive advertising performance across digital video, social media, and connected TV. Edelman walks through the company's successful recapitalization, which eliminated all debt and positioned the business to scale, and highlights recent brand campaigns with Google and Panda Express. He describes how recent acquisitions and partnerships are consolidating gamer data into a unified intelligence platform, and discusses growing operating momentum heading into 2026 as the company targets sustainable profitability.
Podcast Summary:In this unedited, raw-style episode of The Second Act Executive, host TAWNIE WOLF, also known as Antoinette Wolf, delivers an honest, real-time conversation about parenting, awareness, financial literacy, and the responsibilities adults carry in today's rapidly changing world.Normally airing Wednesdays at 9 PM Pacific Standard Time, this episode arrives on Thursday after a busy week balancing business, parenting, and community responsibilities. Instead of a polished production, this conversation is intentionally raw and conversational, allowing listeners to hear authentic reflections and real-life observations as they unfold.TAWNIE shares a lighter moment about scoring a large Stanley cup for $16 at HomeGoods, reminding listeners that even small wins matter in a high-cost economy. The discussion then shifts into a surprising situation involving a counterfeit $10 bill at Panda Express, raising questions about whether fake currency may be circulating more frequently and encouraging listeners to stay observant in everyday transactions.A major portion of the episode focuses on a school conference with her child's teacher, which sparked a deeper conversation about how overworked educators are today and why parents must play a larger role in supporting education at home. TAWNIE discusses the importance of prioritizing reading, math, science, and critical thinking while reducing excessive television, gaming, and passive screen time.Drawing from her own experience working in the entertainment industry in California, she also talks about the growing concern surrounding sexualized media and digital grooming influences targeting children, and why parents must be more intentional about what content enters their homes. The episode also includes a discussion about today's evolving economy and several companies shaping the future of technology and markets, including NVIDIA, Microsoft, AMD, and Palantir, and why staying informed about business and innovation is important for anyone entering the next phase of life. This episode is a candid conversation about awareness, parenting, education, media literacy, and staying mentally sharp in your Second Act.Hosted by TAWNIE WOLFFormer Corporate Executive | Entrepreneur | Philanthropist | Licensed Real Estate Agent | Writer | MotherNew episodes of The Second Act Executive normally air Wednesdays at 9 PM Pacific Standard Time.
Mark Lee started MarqVision while earning his J.D. at Harvard Law, convinced that brand protection was about to break. Counterfeiting and IP theft had grown into a $3 trillion global problem, but enforcement still relied on manual takedowns and fragmented systems. He believed AI could change that. Five years later, MarqVision has raised $90M, doubled revenue in a single year, and is now trusted by 350+ global brands including LVMH, MLB, MrBeast, Lush, Allbirds, Casetify, Panda Express, and Stüssy. The company is helping brands move beyond reactive enforcement toward measurable “cleanliness” across marketplaces — a shift Mark believes will define brand protection in 2026 and beyond.
